Been meaning to try their AYCE sushi for a few months now. Today was my chance, I am glad that i did. The sushi rolls were good, they did not have lots of rice like many of the ayce sushi places, fish was fresh except for the one roll with the spicy shrimp salad on it... it had a little bit of a fishy taste to it. Not sure if it was supposed to be like that or not, but for me, I hate that fishy taste from any kind of fish. I tried about 7 different rolls, including Philly, Rainbow, Fantasy, Spicy Girl, Crazy Train, Butterfly, and Spicy Tuna. What I liked about the rolls was that they were not over stuffed with rice, on a few of the rolls you could actually taste the fish. For the rolls with crab, they used real crab meat and not the imitation crab. Their signature item is mango, so there are a few rolls that have mango in them.My favorite was the Fantasy Roll with cream cheese, shrimp tempura, avocado, and crab. Atmosphere was relaxed and laid back, not too noisy. Service was great, took about 10 mins from order to having food on the table. And the price cant't be beat for Ayce lunch sushi for $16. Definitely worth a try if you are craving some sushi but don't want to spend a lot of money. Philly, rainbow, fantasy, spicy girl Crazy train, butterfly, spicy tuna

A group of us went for a random Sunday get together. Our party of 8 was seated within minutes off arriving so points for quick friendly service. Our server was equally as prompt and at our table as soon as we were seated. She explained the ordering process took our drink orders and gave us time to browse the options. When she returned for our orders she answered the various questions we had and gave suggestions on how much we should start with. Each person started an appetizer, with two rolls and a hot item: edamame, shumai dumplings, spring rolls and the appetizer sampler. Main rolls included shrimp tempura, volcano, spicy salmon, California, Philly and crunchy roll. We also had orders of orange and teriyaki chicken, fried rice and lo mein. Appetizers came out quickly and were hot and fresh. All of were tasty and pretty standard. All the rolls came out at various points so some of our party got their rolls on the heels of appetizers while some of us waited longer for ours. Not a problem just a point to know. After the intial rolls and appetizers our party ordered as they wanted and it was harder to keep up with what new roll each person was trying. Our server also had some difficulty and forgot a few items but quickly got us what we wanted. All the rolls were good so you can't make a bad choice. If the orange chicken is available give it a try. We kept getting more. There is a two hour limit so keep that in mind as well. That was plenty of time for our party. If you're in the mood for lots of sushi try this place out.

My husband and I met up with his coworkers for lunch here on 10/5, and really enjoyed our time and meals. We were a large party of 8 but our server Kevin managed our numerous orders well. All 8 of us ordered several rounds of food since so much of the menu is all-you-can-eat, and Kevin did a great job balancing all of that. The food was DELICIOUS. Each week I've been thinking about going back since. I'm not used to an all-you-can-eat menu and almost ate until I was too full, but it was worth it! I ordered from the all-you-can-eat menu the whole time, which has so many tasty options. I ordered the Thai Red Curry, Vegetable Lo Mein, Volcano Rolls, and two orders of the Sweet Potato Rolls. I'm still thinking about those Sweet Potato Rolls. This place hands-down has the best sushi and the best price for it I've experienced in the area! The only con I experienced here is that there were massive spider webs in the corner of the window above my table. I tend to look up as I'm chewing my food and was a bit grossed out by the spider webs. It's nothing a swiffer around the windows during opening or closing can't handle though. Overall, I had a great time and look forward to going back again.

I'd say Vilcano is solid 3 stars. Vibe/ambiance and restaurant is recommendable updated and clean. Service is good although there were times the wait staff won't check in to see if you need anything. Some ingredients are fresher than AYCE sushi places.

Volcano roll is amazing so is the fried chicken katsu 10/10 no idea why this place has a little over 3 stars. All you can eat sushi for 17 bucks? Yes please!

Nice all you can eat Sushi Asian restaurant. Reasonably priced. It's not a buffet. You can order just about anything off the menu included in the price. If it's not included it says so. My only criticism was the sushi was sometimes unevenly prepared but tasted great! I'm an eel person so I loved I could order as much as I wanted. They have a lot of options.

My partner and I went tonight and we had an excellent experience. We normally go to a different AYCE sushi restaurant, but we decided upon this one instead. Our server was kind, efficient, and very quick with everything we ordered. We started with apps, but he told us the kitchen was backed up and recommended we order rolls, so we did (it was still pretty quick though!). The ambiance is nice, although their music is specifically chosen to make you feel rushed to quickly eat and leave (that part I don't like, but also I get it). I could do without the music. We will definitely be more regular, as it's been a couple years since I've been to Volcano, due to poor experiences in the past. Hopefully they stay consistently good!

16$ for lunch all you can eat, like not the best quality or most flavorful sushi but still hits the spot. Couldn't taste most of the sauces and the hot rolls weren't actually that hot. Crab Rangoon is mostly cream cheese and miso soup was bland. Service was quick tho.

I strolled into Volcano for dinner on 2/5/23 after hittin' up Tealux for the Yelp Elite Week event. This was my first visit to this Volcano in years, so it felt like I was trying them for the first time. This is one of the few ayce sushi spots in Norfolk. The ayce routine mirrors other local ayce sushi spots - you order, they bring you your food, you eat, repeat. For $23, Volcano is a good option, especially if you're hungry. I noticed there are some stipulations with their food - sashimi is excluded from ayce. They charge $0.50 apiece - that adds up if you're looking to eat fish without the filler (i.e., rice). Volcano must've encountered this situation a multitude of times and their food cost took a hit. So, no ayce sashimi. There is a Sushi Bar Appetizer section that has an order limit of 4 per person. In case you're wondering why, well, there's a Sashimi Appetizer and a Sashimi Island listed in that section. You can't be eatin' all the fish, yo! Service was okay. Our server was quiet but nice - no issues there. There were some communication issues because we ordered some items that never arrived. The good thing is that since we kept ordering we could get those missing items during the next round. So, no real loss there. Overall, this was a positive experience. Food is good, price is better than fair, service was good to go, and the company was great. I'll be back, although I'm loyal to Fuji Hana and, whenever I'm in Ghent, to AW Shucks. But Volcano is a great option if you're hungry and don't want to spend too much. Thank you, Volcano! JV

My first time here and was very impressed for an AYCE. It was a Sunday night and I got parking right out front! WINNING! The restaurant was bustling with activity, but we were seated fairly quickly and when we sat down, first thing I saw was the price of the AYCE on the menu cover. $22.99 for dinner? Say less. I hadn't eaten much that day, so I was born ready! I couldn't believe the price for kids too. Very affordable in this day and age of inflation and everything else. They have quite an extensive menu for AYCE! Categories include: - soups and salads - kitchen apps - kitchen entrees - sushi a la carte (sashimi, however, is NOT AYCE, $0.50/pc) - sushi bar apps (limited to 4 orders per person) - classic rolls and hand rolls - Chef special rolls - dessert: mocha mousse cake or ice cream cup - drinks, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic and fancier desserts are available for purchase They don't just give you one or two options either! There's quite a variety to choose from in each category. I was there for the sushi and I love sashimi, so we maximized on the sushi bar apps. There is a limit to 4 per person, so we ordered all 8 options, ordering some dupes to total 12 orders. I really enjoyed the spicy salmon tartar, black pepper tuna, and the yellowtail jalapeno (but holy heck, the jalapenos were hot and they top it off with some sriracha, so you've been warned)! We then ordered an assortment of sushi and a couple of rolls. We tried to avoid the deep fried ones that usually fill you up faster. Everything was made fresh to order and I thought the quality was pretty great for an AYCE. My tips and notes: - if you like sashimi like I do, maximize on the sushi bar apps, bc it's the closest thing to sashimi, just dressed in sauce. - I only eat low sodium soy and it turns out that's all they serve. Yay! - order a miso soup to wash down the pieces as you eat (it's the Korean in me LOL) The service was a bit spotty. I am more referring to the orders. Our server was very nice and was attentive, but when I made an order, there were a couple of things that were missing, so not sure if the kitchen was getting overwhelmed. My remedy was just to order again on the next round! We had lots to eat and it gave us some time to digest between rounds LOL. Will definitely come back with my kids, because they are sushi fiends. For that price, take my money! Stay safe, Friends!

So many choices so little time. I try to visit a sushi restaurant anytime I'm in a different place. The service here was quick and the food was delicious. Between the seated customers and the pickup/ to-go orders nobody looked disappointed. The apps were just as good as the sushi and because I'm greedy I didn't take a pic. As always eat more sushi!

Delicious!! I typically order carry out, but we were on 21st Street and decided to dine-in No rush. The music was great. We were pleasantly surprised that they had an All You Can Eat! offer. AhhWhaaat?! Yes, please. *Try not to let your eyes get bigger than your stomach because it's all you can eat, so if you can't eat it, then you can't take it to go, unless you pay per sushi piece. Now, I guess you're asking why a customer would be required to pay to take sushi already paid for home. Well, I understood. You see, I paid to eat it and didn't do anything uneaten stays on the table. It was just that. Uneaten! Anyway, ordering from the menu made me feel like I was on a resort. We ordered 2 apps, a variety of sushi, fried rice, etc. It was me, not them.

Last time I went to this place it was not "all you can eat". There is a small waiting area, but we were seated within 2minutes. There is on street parking, not metered, so that's good, if you can find a spot. Do not use the TASTE lot, its strictly for them. I did notice that they have signs up in the restaurant stating that you can only dine for 2 hours. I think when you have a large party, the 2 hours restraint could be an issue. It should be all you can eat for 2 hours, lol. Service was fine, I appreciated the adult drink menu, with cocktail options, although I didn't order any. My 2 son's and I ordered 2-3 rolls a piece along with edamame's and gyoza. Food was fresh and fast, and our seats was next to the sushi bar, so it was cool to see them turning out the rolls so fast. At the end we were charged lunch prices, to be honest I thought maybe it was because it was the day before thanksgiving. Then the server came back and said that she charged us incorrectly, I said no big deal. Except she ran my card for the new charge with my 11 year old son as an adult, which was a big difference. She paused and looked at me and looked at my son as if to visibly check to see if he was 11. She sighed and said, "WELL I ALREADY CHARGED YOUR CARD". I just simply said, well you need to fix it. After seeming very annoyed, she did void the charge and re-ran it correctly. I will be back, because the sushi was fresh.

The restaurant was fairly empty, with only three other tables occupied, so we were surprised by the length of the wait. Our two canned Sapporos didn't arrive until about 30 minutes after ordering. The shrimp sandwich took approximately 45 minutes, and the Vang rolls arrived after about an hour. After waiting an hour, we were informed that the garlic shrimp for our garlic noodles was unavailable, despite it being part of our original order. Unfortunately, the Vang rolls were so salty that we couldn't finish them. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and there was little communication about the delays or unavailable menu items. After roughly 90 minutes of waiting, multiple delays, and learning that several items were unavailable, we decided to pay for what we had received the two Sapporos, the shrimp sandwich, and the Vang rolls, which came to about $70. Perhaps we visited on an off night, but the combination of the slow service, poor communication, unavailable menu items, and disappointing food quality made for a frustrating experience. I immediately jumped in line for FF when we arrived. - TLC - There was a woman cooking the food and a guy handling the orders. They were extremely busy as they were the only food option at the time, but the guy was still courteous. Despite the high traffic, my order was ready in 15 minutes, as promised. - Noms - The menu is simple and consists of various combos of a handful of items. This was great, because I was able to try most of their items in a few orders. I ordered: #1 - Pancit, Teriyaki Chicken, Lumpia #4 - Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Lumpia A la carte order of Pancit Bottle of water Pancit - good. Teriyaki Chicken - sauce was thick and concentrated, good flavor. Lumpia - great size, packed with filling and made to order (could have had 10 of those alone) Fried Rice - I think with the amount of traffic that day due to the event, she was trying to make big batches quickly and the soy sauce didn't distribute evenly, so I had patches of both white and fried rice. It was still good. Orange Chicken - good flavor. They were big chunks of chicken with minimal breading, which I appreciate. Overall, the food was fresh and the portions were generous. Two combos and a side order of pancit fed our family (and my school age children don't eat like birds either). Note about my pics: my fam tore up the food before I could even say "Wait!", so the pics are not a true depiction of how much food and how it was served. FF shut down shortly after we finished our meals. I overheard someone saying that FF had brought 6x the amount of food they normally bring and they sold out in a few hours! Good problem to have!
