We arrived within an hour of closing time; but we were greeted warmly by the hostess who gave us a choice of table or booth. Our kind waitress gave us menus, brought water, and provided explanations about the specials. My wife is a big fan of trout; so she happily chose the Cajun Trout -- and loved it! Grilled veggies were delicious too. I picked the Thai Linguini Curry -- another deliciously great choice! It had enough Curry to spice the dish nicely, but not too much. There were lots of ingredients such as chicken, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, green onions, and crushed peanuts -- a smorgasbord of flavor! Tusseys casual grill was solid. Vibes were more small town diner which was a nice switch up being from a small town it was nice to see. Definitely some regulars in there chatting with staff. Staff was very friendly and quick. It wasn't a super busy Monday night when I went. I went during Omaha restaurants week so they had a special menu. I started with the bang bang shrimp tacos. They were solid had nice sized fried to perfection in them with a good bang bang sauce. The salad was good not just iceberg lettuce. Good ranch. I went with the beef and noodles which was a ton of food but the flavor left something to be desired. Gravy just didn't have that richness to it I expected it to have. Was a tad disappointed. But the apple pie with ice cream was fantastic and would be back for just that. Had nice to go containers too. I love going to Tussey's when I don't want to make anything at home but I still want that good home cooked type of meal. Tusseys is great! They have so many different options of food served during lunch and dinner. Sometimes they let you get the dinner menu at lunch too! I usually like to get their salmon dish that comes with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The salmon is always cooked perfect, which can be hard it seems for some places! This is a mixed review. The food at Tussey's is very good. I had the southwest eggrolls, which were nice and crispy. It has plenty of black beans, which I love and a sweet sauce. I also had the honey chicken for my main dish. It was great! The honey sauced complimented the salmon nicely. The side of garlic smashed potatoes were to die for. The drinks on the other hand were a problem. I'm guessing that they didn't have a real bartender on hand. My husband's first attempt to order a dry martini up, was met with a very dirty martini with lots of olive juice, but no olive. The waitress happily replaced it. This time, the order was a dry martini up with a twist. It was served as a vodka lemon martini. Ouch. We didn't mention it this time. It was near Christmas this is no time to be a grinch. Wow! I sure wish we had ventured up here years ago. It is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth a visit. The restaurant is attractive, yet casual, with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There is a bar with somewhat limited options, including a decent but smallish wine list. The menu includes everything from soups and salads to sandwiches to full dinners. This isn't a diner or bar and grill! The food is prepared with flair and sophistication. Save room for the Key Lime Pie. I think it just might be the best I have ever had outside of Florida! Our server could not have been more friendly. She has been waiting tables at Tussey's for about a dozen years. That says something about a restaurant's consistency and business ethic. Tussey's be the best kept secret in Omaha, and it might be because it's tucked into a strip mall off of North 680. I would suggest that you make the effort to take a short drive north! I have eaten at Tussey's many many times, and have yet to ever be disappointed. The owner is a past executive chef for a large hotel here in Omaha and I worked with him in a professional relationship when I was working. He was always creative and executed perfectly in all of the functions we utilized him for from Gala's to luncheons. He is no less talented or creative in his own venue. Their Sunday brunch is spot on and delivers on every level. They do a very good business and find themselves as one of only a few upscale restaurants in that part of town. But do not for a moment assume that customer loyalty is based merely on accessibility to their home. Many of us make the drive to frequent Tussey's. We have dined at Tussey's since they opened. We had dinner tonight and have to say that our waitress probably is not in the correct job for her talents. She was extremely slow to come take our order; splashed my wine on delivery; dud nor deliver our entrees; did not ask if we wanted additional drinks or desert; dropped our bill off and did not ask if everything was satisfactory nor did she thank us for dining. I came here during Omaha Restaurant Week and was not disappointed. When we pulled up I wasn't sure if we had the right location! It's simple decor with bright colors on the walls. You can see into the kitchen when you walk in. The food. The food was the best I've had in a long time. We got the spinach and artichoke dip. OMG. You could put this dip on a piece of cardboard and I would eat it. It's seriously that good. We also got hummus which was good as well. We both got the same entree. We got the seafood thermador. Everything was perfect from the sauce to the cook of the seafood. For the finale we got the bread pudding and creme brulee! The bread pudding was the most delicious ever! It wasn't mushy and was very flavorful. The creme brulee was delicious as well. The restaurant was packed and not because of Omaha Restaurant week, but because the food is delicious! A few years ago, I was enjoying lunch and a drink at the bar alone. Just minding my business while casually watching golf on the TV. Everything was going great for me until an unknown couple leaving the establishment made a comment "Look! That n#@¥$/) is eating for two." The people working at the bar heard the comment and said or did nothing. Knowing this moron who made that comment was trying provoke me and he was probably armed with a gun. I just ignored him. I still don't know that couple from a can of paint. People actions and inaction speaks loud. I absolutely refuse to go back to the establishment since I didn't feel safe whatsoever. I intentionally avoid this establishment, and others in the area due to that specific incident. Similar incidents is not too uncommon in that vicinity unfortunately. read more

Trish had a Pepsi (they didn't have Coke). I'm happier already. We had the crispy Southwestern rolls as an appetizer. Both of us liked them, but me even more so. Not overdone, sour cream and salsa on the side. For dinner I had the Honey Salmon with smashed garlic potatoes. Both were delicious. Trish had a burger and fries which she thought were ordinary. We split a coconut caramel flan for dessert. Trish may have liked that a bit more than I did. I thought the sauce was too runny. Service was fine. Bottom line, I would go back again. The first time my wife and I happened upon this place was about 2 years ago. We had stopped in after she picked me up from the airport, looking for a place to grab a sandwich. Our first impression was, "Is this place open?" It looked in disrepair and empty of customers. We ended up going across the way to another eating establishment. Now to present day. We walked in last night and were still somewhat hesitant, due to our first impression still lingering on our minds. But let me tell you, Tussey's is awesome! Our Server was very informative and patient. I had a few questions regarding certain items on the menu. I am a Food Service Professional with over 20 years experience so, I like to explore menus. I found out thru our Server that everything is made "in house" which put my mind at ease. From the side salad through to the dessert, EVERYTHING was spectacular! The mixed greens were perfect, no discolored or wilted leaves. The dried cranberries were soft, the Balsamic dressing was delicious. They even took time to use a garnishing tool to make the cucumbers look fancy! I could go on and on, giving fine details about each dish ordered but, I will just say this. EVERYTHING was cooked perfectly. The hot food came out hot, the cold salad came out cold. As it should be. Tussey's has turned into my favorite Omaha find. The chicken was cooked awesome and the salad had so much flavor you didn't need dressing. I ate some food off of my friends plate and it was so good too! My family and I have been coming here for years. It is one of the few non-chain, non-fast food places near Florence. It is a nice place to have a casual meal within a couple minute drive. The wait staff has always been very friendly to us and attentive. A pretty basic menu: a few appetizers, steak, chicken, fish, pasta, burgers, and salads. To me the best part is their Sunday Brunch Buffet. Omelet station where they will make it in front of you with whatever ingredients you choose, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, cheese/fruit/pastry platters, scrambled eggs, waffles or pancakes, and of course bacon and sausage. We have gone as a extended family on Sundays many times and always leave full and happy. read more

I randomly ended up at Tussey's with Bill and a friend for their father's day brunch special (note that this is apparently how far you have to drive from Omaha to get into a restaurant for brunch on father's day without excessive wait times). If any of us had actually been fathers, I think we would have been treated to a discount or something, but as it was we all paid full price for some pretty tasty offerings. I'm always wary of the quality of a buffet, but this was very good. Mostly standard buffet breakfast fare with quality ingredients. The standouts were the 'top your own' pancake station with plenty of whipped cream and strawberries, a breakfast trifle, cocktail shrimp, roasted veggies and ribs on buffet. For whatever reason if I ended up hungry and at Tussey's again, I'm sure I'd leave feeling just as happy as we did on this trip. read more

Stopped in with my partner for a quick lunch on Thursday, Aug 4th, after picking him up at the airport! I was overwhelmed by how awesome and amazing all the food was! The salad was crisp and very nice for a side salad. All their salad dressings are homemade and taste amazing! We started off with the Asian Spring Rolls that were amazing and then my partner had the Baja Chicken Sandwich and I had the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich. Both were excellent! The onion jam for the pork tenderloin was very delicious! We hadn't planned on having desert but everything we'd had so far was beyond our expectations that we decided to share the apple crisp. So glad we did because like everything else it was beyond delicious!!! Tara was our waitress and she was so fun and pleasant and helpful with questions! She made the lunch go overboard! Tussey's is a pretty short drive from my house, so I've been a few times. They have a menu that has wonderful sounding options on it, but I've never been blown away by a meal there. Everything I've tried seems to lack a certain oomph that would make me recommend it to someone who's looking for a new place to try that might be a drive for them. Most recently, I went for a meal during Omaha restaurant week. Their menu sounded wonderful, but again, mine was missing a punch that would have changed it from merely ok, to worth making a trip for. The night I was there, the air conditioning was broken as well, so the dining area was very warm. I know that's not something that the wait staff or owner can predict, but it made the experience unpleasant, unfortunately. The ice in my sangria melted very rapidly, making it difficult to enjoy the diluted results. Now, were I to go back, I would consider ordering it again as it was peach, and the first few sips were quite good. But a watered down wine drink unfortunately set the tone for a meal missing pizzaz. If you're in the area, give them a shot. But I wouldn't recommend making a special trip to the north end of town to try them. read more

The Tusseys have catered our family Christmas Eve for the past 10+ years and have always done a phenomenal job! Our entire family of 30+ guests always look forward to the shrimp cakes, salami coronets, and mashed potato bar. We stopped at Tussey's due to its proximity to where we were. It proved delightful. We each had a great lunch. My one friend was very impressed that hummus was a menu item. She inquired if the vegetable on the menu could be changed for another. When her lunch was delivered she had a yummy portion of hummus surrounded by an assortment of fresh vegetables. She was delighted. I had an "orchard" salad with apples, blue cheese, pecans and cranraisins mixed with greens. My other friend had a chopped South West salad that she was very happy with. I usually get their salads but they always have special dishes too. Full bar with great beer choices. I'm saddened that they don't have more Nebraska breweries. They used to.
