    Banchan- very good
    Vivian H.

I have to report here what happened when we came here a few weeks ago and it was not cool what the waitress did. My friends and I came to this place together because I had been before and liked the Korean food here. Food was legit and was a good experience previously. However, the day we came in, the waitress got my friend's order wrong as my friend wanted the bibimbap but the waitress heard something else and brought out a soup. When my friend immediately told her that isnt what she ordered, the waitress (new) proceeded to argue with my friend. I watched incredulously as things started to unfold. The waitress even asked my friend to pronounce bimbimpap again and told her she should learn how to pronounce it better. She kept arguing wirh my friend and mind you, waitess wasnt Korean or Korean American. At this point, I had to step in, as I also heard my friend say bibimbap clearly. The waitress didnt know what she was talking about and at the same time was being rude as heck to my friend. Then, my other friend shows up and orders a bibimpap. When the bibimpap is brought out, I asked her to bring some gochujang for my friend. I didnt know if my friend would like this chili paste, so wanted her to have the option to try it. The waitress again decided to argue about this and at this point, she was really testing my nerve. She said bibimpap doesn't come with gochujang and I am like thinking are you crazy, woman? I am not Korean but I have been eating Korean food for 30+ years, I know what I am talking about. She then asked me to repeat gochujang several times and I was very annoyed at this point. Its like, look lady, you dont know what youre talking about, stop sticking your foot in your mouth and come on, be nice to your customers! Because of this terrible behavior, I asked to speak to a manager, a woman came over and listened to what happened and apologized and thats how we found out she was new. I was beyond frustrated at this point. Despite the horrible service, I still left a 10% tip, but honestly the waitress deserves zilch and needed more training. The food is solid here but I wont be returning with that kind of behavior, I can choose where my money goes, and these days with it being so hard to get by, good luck to this place as I am not coming back.

The food here was good but unfortunately this was some of the worst/rudest service from the waitress that I've experienced. I ordered the beef bulgogi bibimbap and the waitress brought me beef soup. Rather than just apologize for her mistake, she argued with me that I didn't order the bibimbap and my friend had to speak up for me that I did in fact order the bibimbap. The waitress then made a very disrespectful remark that I should improve my pronunciation next time. Bibimbap and soup don't even sound anything alike but the waitress still couldn't accept that she messed up. The waitress also didn't give me silverware and expected me to know that they are kept in a drawer in the table and to get it myself. There were other issues too with her service and her awful attitude. The banchan and the bibimbap were both enjoyable once I got them. It was quiet when we went for a Saturday lunch and the interior is pretty minimalist. Maybe I would get takeout from here but the service needs to be significantly improved for me to return to dine in.

Came here for the first time tonight and it was delicious. I came here with my sister and we ordered tofu appetizer and a seafood tofu hot pot. I love Korean food and consider myself an expert. This was very good! They make their own tofu daily, soft and firm. I highly recommend it!

This is my favorite go-to place for Korean Tofu soup! I got the beef tofu soup - medium spicy. Tofu soup comes with rice and the side dishes. I love the rice with the pumpkin/squash in it! And the side dishes are so delicious! They switch to different ones every few months. The soup also comes with the raw egg that you crack it on top when they bring out the dish. The broth is always flavorful and depends on which tofu soup (beef, seafood, kimchi, etc) you get, the broth flavor is different. The tofu is made in house so it is fresh and soft. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is nice and clean.

Thank you cookie (kukhui) for an amazing dinner! We got the tofu hot pot. It is vegan! All the sides are vegan except fish cakes. We enjoyed the kimchi, the beet and cabbage, the soy paste, and the spicy chili's! Yum! She kindly gave us an extra of the spicy side. Now, the tofu hot pot... WOW. It is vegan but not short on flavor. The mushroom medley is exceptional. Lots of veggies it is so filling. There is a reason these ingredients are blue zone friendly. Give this dish a try. The noodles are tasty and all are nourishing to the body. This place can get busy but they have plenty of seating. The staff is kind, and helpful. Please support this great business. Plenty of parking. It is a really comfortable atmosphere. The soybean tofu is made fresh daily and they use organic and non GMO.

I've been to Stone Korean Tofu House a few times, but this was my first time getting it to go. I loved the packaging for the sides, everything stayed separate and neat. The LA-style ribs combo was perfection. The meat was super tender and the flavor was phenomenal, especially with a side of rice. Their fresh steamed purple rice with hobak is always so good. The combo also came with a soup, and I chose the cold spicy noodles. I saved them for lunch the next day, but the noodles got really stuck together after being refrigerated, which made them hard to eat. The flavor seemed good, but it was tough to tell since the texture was off. Service was very nice and quick. I checked out at the front and had my order in under five minutes. The restaurant itself is quiet with plenty of seating, and it has a fun sliding door you press to enter! Overall, it's a great spot for authentic Korean food!

Amazing Korean food finds in Mesa, Arizona??!!! Growing up visiting relatives in Mesa in the 90's, I had VERY low expectations when it came for looking for Korean food in Arizona. But after yelping, e decided to give The Stone a try and I'm SO glad we did!!! The restaurant has a huge parking lot and the restaurant itself has a clean, modern look. It wasn't until after we ordered that we saw on the tv screens that they make their own tofu in house daily. After seeing that, I asked if we could change our order to try the Kimchi and Pork Belly Tofu dish along with soondubu. I also decided to try the Korean coffee drunk that was 50 cents per cup- All I can say is that everything was delicious- especially the kimchi pork belly and tofu! After coming back from a trip to Korea last April, there have been few places in LA or OC that have made me feel like I was back in Korea... But being back at The Stone definitely brought back the taste that I've been missing! Definitely stop in and give them a try if you're in the area!!!

I absolutely love the tofu soups here!! Love that the tofu is homemade. A new favorite for me is the BiBim Neung Myun, cold spicy dry noodles! The hot pots are big and plenty of food to share. Combo meals will be a great way to share and try out multiple items. All the items here have been delicious and we haven't been disappointed. Like all Korean places you can get refills for the sides. They have a private room area if there's a large group it's very convenient! The decor is nice and the service is great! I have been many times and love coming here! I would highly recommend this place!

Stone was a great choice after a long day, they are open later than most restaurants. The staff let us choose our own seats within the cool korean-decorated booths. I liked all the options they offer in soup, entree, and option for noodles as replacement. It was tough to choose from but I don't think there's a wrong choice. For spicy lovers, I'd go higher than medium. One of the biggest surprises is the portion sizes! The seafood pancake was bigger than my head, well worth the bang for your buck. Galbi and Bugolgi both hit the spot. And the purple rice that comes with the combo wasnt just looking pretty, it tasted fresh and nourishing.

Such a solid spot for korean food. I grabbed the combo meal, and it filled me up! Solid sides. Piping hot soup. Everything was delicious.

Location is pretty good, the staff was very helpful, and very clean restaurant. We got the Bulgogi Kim bebop. We also got the Bulgogi hot pot. It was really good flavor and perfectly paired. We got the Leche Soju. The dinner was amazing all the side accoutrements were perfect. The hot pot was our favorite.

I've been meaning to visit for a long time and finally had a moment to take the detour. It looks like it used to be a Denny's or something, but they did a nice job creating a modern decor. Given the name of the place, you should have tofu! I ordered the combo with beef bulgogi and seafood tofu soup. It's a generous portion and covered my table. The tofu was excellent. The bulgogi was good, but somewhat standard. The banchan were pretty: I liked most of them, but the seaweed one was not to my liking. I would go back for the tofu, for sure!

We've been here a few times, and the food's pretty decent. They say they make their own tofu, but honestly, I can't really tell if it's that different from store-bought. I really like their Mung Bean Pancake though, definitely my favorite! This time we ordered the Fresh Soft Tofu Salad, Fried Tofu, Seafood Pancake, Tofu Soup, and Bibimbap. Everything was good, but by the end, I felt like I had a tofu overdose. Would be nice if they had more variety in the appetizers to balance it out.

Any waiter that hears the bell comes to your table to assist. The response never took longer than 20 seconds most of the time. To start the appetizer tray at the beginning is an awesome touch that I'm not used to in other places I have tried. It kind of took the guess work out of ordering in my opinion so I only had to focus on what meat or dish I wanted since my sides were already selected and refillable for free through the course of the meal. We ordered the seafood sundubu, beef bulgogi, and sweat and spicy korean fried chicken wings. The portion size was very generous on the wings and on the crispier side which my wife prefers. The seafood sundubu was delicious and was pleasantly surprised to see a decent amount of tofu and seafood types in the dish. The beef bulgogi was also tasty and as I said before just scratched that korean food craving that we had. This has been added to our rotation of date night locations for us! Oh also the bathrooms are very clean.

On the table there is a button to call the waiter for ordering or for any other needs. Each Korean restaurant seems to offer a bit of variety in their dishes, and sometimes a specialty dish that the others Korean restaurants do not. We started off with seafood pancake and it had shrimp, octopus and large green onion. I would have appreciated a bit more seafood, but it was cooked crispy on the outside and nice and thick. The dipping sauce was very good. We ordered beef bulgogi ssam-bap (serves 2) which traditionally can be eaten with a lettuce wrap, garlic and ssamjang (non-spicy red paste). It arrived with a diverse tray of greens, perilla leaves and carrots, samjang and garlic. The greens were enough to feed kennel of at least four rabbits. The beef was a fair amount however it was overcooked. It also arrived with a soup and ban chan of 8 items. These provide a variety of the traditional side dishes, or ban chan of Korean food. We also ordered a cold namyeong soup with a side of kalbi. The soup had daikon radish and is traditionally eaten in the summer. The kalbi had the tender soft meat that is its highlight. Overall, we had a great experience and while Korean food is traditionally a meal that runs about $20 a person, it has an aesthetic presentation, it is flavorful, especially with umami, and it is fairly healthy. I would definitely return again and it is a great place to enjoy the meal with other others.
