Haven't gone out to a restaurant in a very long time and wifey wanted to go here so I said sure. To the right of the restaurant is where you can barbecue your own meat and the rest is general seating. They bring you water and when we were ready to order they asked that we buzz from a remote bell placed on each table. We never had to use it though as the service was attentive. Loved all the side dishes which is such a nice perk of eating at a Korean restaurant. I ordered their 10 piece fried beef dumpling and it was quite tasty with a very nice crisp to it. Wife ordered galbi (marinated beef short rib) and she really enjoyed it. I had a piece and it was tender and had good flavor. Our meals came with miso soup which was also flavorful. The only minus I felt was them not having real forks. They gave me a plastic fork which was kind of odd I for a sit down restaurant.

We've been to Koreatown so many times, and now it's under new ownership. They haven't really changed much inside, the restaurant still has the same open space, high ceilings, and good size like before. We weren't too hungry, so we just ordered the Vegan Dol-Sot Bibimbap, Soy Garlic Chicken, and Ugeogi Kalbi-Tang (spicy beef short rib). Everything was really tasty and packed with flavor! Honestly, I think it's even better than before. Our servers, including the owner, were all very nice. Glad we stopped by to try it out!

Koreantown never disappoints when I have a craving for Korean food. I appreciate that I get to choose my experience (left side: dining room, right side: self serve BBQ). I only had an hour for dinner, so I picked the left side. The server was very patient my questions and helped me with my final decisions. I ordered a seafood pancake, tofu stew with beef, and bibimbap with pork. All are so flavorful. The beef was a bit tough for my mom, but I was okay with it. The side dishes were all too pretty to touch haha! Tips: go with clothes you are willing to wash right away after you get home and on your hair wash day. Although I wasn't seated at the BBQ side, I left smelling greasy and with bbq aroma.

Wanted some Korean food so I decided to try here. I know my mom comes here often with my uncles and aunts so I decided to give it a try. I was not in the mood for Korean BBQ so I opted for the regular dining. Regular dining to left bbq to right. Pretty good selection of dishes, only initial pain was how expensive dishes were. But I understand everything cost more now. Staff was very friendly and attentive which was nice. Restaurant also had nice decor. Ordered yukgaejang extra spicy and spicy pork dol-pan. Yukgaejang was extra spicy just the way I like it. Broth had nice flavor also. I realized it's been many many years since last time I had this soup. I have to say probably one of the better ones I've had. Spicy pork dol-pan was pretty good and stayed hot for long time.. It is very hot so be careful. Side of banchan that came was pretty good with good selections. Over all the food was good and I definitely come back here again.. Now I know why my mom comes here often. Oh.. The dishes were pretty good size so I didn't feel as bad about the price after..

Their banchan is the best I've had. Large spacious space, friendly service and great food. Will come back here again.

    Plenty of side dishes.

We haven't been here in a while and I assume they have new manager/owners since the menu looks different. Their side dishes were really yummy and I can tell they made an effort in each dish. We tried two of their soups (see photos) which are not often found in other Korean restaurants around here. It did taste yummy and satisfying especially when the weather is cold outside. We also shared the acorn jelly salad. It was delicious and refreshing but not as good as my mom's home made ones. Overall, excellent meal, service and experience. Highly recommend!!

Oooh haven't been here so long, and they have changed so much! I heard that they have new owners now, and they definitely changed interior, new menu, everything looked much better! Got to try their spicy pork bulgogi saambam, side dishes were all so yummy, and veggies came with this had variety of different wraps and all were so fresh! Bulgogi was good as well, I was impressed that they really have improved on their quality of food! Can't wait to come back and try new food!

First of all, the side dishes are supposed to be served right away while you are waiting for your entree. The side dishes tastes aweful especially the soggy mini cucumber. The Kalbi was nothing special and it costs $30. I did not try the bbq since I was only dining alone. I did see a few Korean patrons enjoying the bbq grilling.

This place offers a lot of variety with their menu. Service was great. When I was done I packed my leftovers and they put it in a bag for me, which was nice! Tried the steamed dumplings and spicy pork bibimbap. Steamed dumplings were good and comes with a lot of pieces. Side dishes were good but felt like the flavors of each one could be a little stronger. The bibimbap great overall with sauce on the side to adjust to your spice level.

Large beef bbq with ban chan

This place is awesome. Spacious, clean, and friendly. They have a couple different menus including one for Bbq and another for popular Korean dishes. The ban chan is solid and I've been impressed with the quality of the meats. The service has always been great - attentive but not pushy. All servers to date all speak Korean as well. I have no complaints - this is a rarity

    Soft (soon) tofu soup
    Angie C.

We got seated pretty quickly and enjoyed our side dishes immediately. Service was kind and timely! Everything from the tables, floor, bathroom, etc was very clean and welcoming. I ordered soft tofu soup with instine, seafood, and mushrooms. It came in its traditional hot stone bowl, still bubbling. Tofu was soft and fresh while the soup adhered to its traditional tastes. Definitely hit the spot for me!! I will gladly eat this every day.

    Sweet Pork Belly

I had the sweet Pork Belly & my husband had the Galbi and everything was delish!! We had a bunch of entrees and none missed. We got seated immediately on a Saturday night. Will def come back to try other dishes. They do not have Korean hot dog which was kinda sad but there was a LOT of food for just 2 people. We were pretty full

It's our first time being here and our friend recommended for us. Never doubt that is gonna be good but it's actually is really good base on their review. Also the galbi one is perfect too. Recommend this place and you can bring family or friends here too cause it's a big place. Services is so nice and they were showing us what is the best food here too

    Are they AYCE?

    No

Do they take reservations? Hate waiting

While they don't usually take reservations, the wait has never been more than a couple of minutes because the place is large. I'm sure for a large group it would be best to call ahead. I have seen as many as 20 people at one sitting.

When does the restaurant open back up?

I can only say that as of 3/17/2022 it is open

Is there a capacity group to dine in?

Hopefully one of the owners will chime in, but for any large group it's always best to phone ahead. If you just drop in on a restaurant with a large group you are risking long waits and poor service with no one to blame but yourself. If you call… Read more

Is the menu the same for take out? Or is there a limited menu for COVID

There are some items available for dine in that are not on the take our menu, but the owner informs me that they are reworking the menus and things will be changing.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!
