I've always been treated like ROYALTY there by Tooba who styles my hair perfect everytime & introduces me to styles color that I may of never considered and I'm always blown away at my transformation! David the owner is very hospitable by asking if you want tea or water or even something off his menu you can enjoy while you wait for your hair to process. I've had an amazing tuna sandwich, a beautiful salad with Spaghetti & homemade meatballs & garlic bread to name a few because of my busy schedule it's convenient to satisfy my hunger. 90 minutes after my nails were done, they are still wet enough to smudge all over the nail. Application too quick and/or too thick. My nails also bubbled a lot. Appreciate that they took me in as a walk in. The nail tech was nice and fun to talk to. Would not recommend unless you are willing to sit around for hours for your nails to dry all the way through. This is an unacceptable manicure in my book. See attached pictures of me easily scratching into my still wet polish. The base coat was Seche Vite base, color- OPI Princess Rule, top coat OPI (not sure which one, but clearly not a quick dry), OPI laquer drying drops. I use this polish and base coat all the time at home and have no issues with prolonged drying time so long as it isn't too thick and a little drying time is allowed per coat (60-90 seconds). I don't understand how this manicure is so bad. Consider using Seche Vite quick dry top coat (can cause wronkles in metallic polishes) or Seche Vite gel effect top coat (great on top of all polished i have tried). OPI's quick dry top coat is also decent. I totally appreciate that I came in at the end of the day as a walk in and appreciate that I was given service with no fuss. I will even admit that I smudged a nail that the tech reapplied for me and I smudged my thumb while paying, but there is no excuse for my other nails to still be prone to gouging and smudging 90 minutes after the manicure. I think the tech may be more comfortable with gel manicures as she said that is what she uses kn her nails- to be fair- you can cure those in minutes. UPDATE- it's been almost 5 hours and the polish is still soft- It is easily dented and scratches off. What a mess- very gummy and bubbly! I was so looking forward to not having to do my nails this week, but it turns out I have to remove this mess and do it myself- plus I'm out $30 read more

Kicking myself that I have taken a few months to write this review. Back in February I got a massage her from Darlena (using a gift certificate) and it was absolutely wonderful! I received a 90 minute massage and enjoyed every minute of it. I asked her to focus on my head, neck and shoulders but said she could do a little bit of sports massage on my legs since I am a runner. My goodness, I about fell asleep when she was massaging my shoulders and neck, it was absolutely wonderful. And the sports work she did on my legs was great too. I typically hate getting my legs massaged because I find it to be ticklish. I let her know this and she was able to do the leg work in a way that actually felt relaxing and not uncomfortable (this is the first experience I've had getting my legs massaged that I actually enjoyed). Aside from the massage, this studio is so nice. It is located right on the corner of Idaho and Capitol in downtown Boise, it is clean inside, and all of the folks working here are friendly. For some time after years of disappointment, I've been going to Seattle to get my hair fix - hair cuts and color. I have coarse Asian hair, and I've never found anyone who are familiar with my type of hair regardless of how much they charged. I was hesitant because my hair doesn't take the color like majority of folks here. But I wanted to find a place local, wanted to give this place a shot. and made an appointment with Daphane. Not sure if it's because she is from New York, but I can tell she is experienced in different types of hair!! How refreshing and wonderful!! She knew exactly what I wanted. I initially went in to "drag my root" down to fix my colored hair to look more like balayage. After talking with her, we decided to add some ash on the bottom of my hair to make the end result look much more natural! And a short time later, voila!!! She did the magic! My hair looks much more natural. My hair did get damaged a little - I guess it's given considering I dyed it only a few months ago. But I'm so very pleased with result!! Amazing! Brittni is hands down the most talented hairdresser I have ever been to. She loves a challenge and she definitely got one with my hair. I scheduled for a color correction and cut after another salon seriously goofed up my hair. I had mango chutney colored hair with chunky pineapple highlights. It was not appealing. When I arrived David offered me a cup of wonderful Zen tea. Brittni took me back and did a marvelous job correcting my hair at the same time as doing a stunning balayage on another client. She is impressive with her capabilities, composure, and knowledge. I knew immediatly that I was in as safe of hands as I could find. She explained exactly what she was doing and why. She utilized the color wheel and hair swatches on an expert level. She brought me so much peace. My goal was to be able to get back to a place where I could grow my natural hair out again without a harsh line of demarcation. My hair had many colors and variations within it. It was not an easy challenge. It required expert knowledge which she has well earned. Brittni has worked as a cosmetologist for 15 years and been at this salon for 5. My family loves my hair. My husband thinks its great. The cut is fabulous. I feel 100x better about my appearance and I am so glad I don't have to wait to look like my normal self again. I had a wonderful experience at this salon located right in downtown Boise. I got a Brazilian blowout done by Brittni. She is super friendly and professional and tackled my crazy hair like a champ. I was running a bit late for a wedding and she was really rallying to get me out and on my way. Her co-worker Sky chipped in as well helping with blow drying. I really felt like I got the royal treatment. I LOVE this salon! I went in today to have Lo do my brow touch-up. The salon was very clean and Lo used hand sanitizer. I'm always greeted by David, the owner, and he's always so sweet! I've been going to Lo for a while, she's done my lashes and brows and she's SO talented! My brows look so natural and are shaped perfectly! I was walking down the street in Downtown Boise looking for a nail place. As I walked down Idaho street,right on the corner , I see an sign sitting on the sidewalk, written in colorful chalk! Manicure $25.00... I looked at the shop it was a beautiful old building with huge windows. It looked very hip and clean. So I went in. I was greeted by a nice girl Shauna, or Shania,sorry if wrong on the spelling. She said yes we can do your nails in about 10 min. It was so hot outside, I was melting. She got me a large glass of ice water right away. She was a life saver! Then I asked her if I could possibly get my roots done while I was there. She said yes right away. So I got my roots done, then while processing Ashley did my Nails. I was so happy with the service, I got it all done in 2 hours and was on my way back to my hotel. Not only was My service wonderful, I loved the salon itself. It was clean and modern. The staff was lovely. They offered everyone,water, coffee ,or Tea. All the procedures were sterile and done nicely. I really enjoyed my afternoon here and all without a plan. I had just walked in off the street. If I lived in Boise, this would be my go to place. Company is not for me, worked as a receptionist for temporary. I walked in with my resume in hand to apply to become an esthetician. The owner made it seem like he had a whole extra room for me and he wanted to redecorate how I thought it would look best. But above all makes promises and doesn't follow through with nearly anything. When I was touring around, not even hired yet, another esty was hired and it was her first day. After speaking with her recently. She never had any clients since May.... plus the other esthetician whose been there way longer averages about 1-3 appointments a week? The owner made it seem like their books were full but don't let them fool you. Everyday they're open there is nearly no business besides 2-3 stylists plus 1-2 nail techs. If you want to work here bring your own clientele, product, implements, literally even your own towel warmer because someone will misuse it. I would even bring your own room decor at that point. One of the things I did notice while working at the front desk was no one cleaned anything outside of their work stations or nobody comes to professionally clean the building... the bathrooms, floors, products, product on shelves looked the same every time I came in. I dusted a few times and it seemed like it was never dusted before. I also needed to clean the regular and employee bathroom toilets, because I saw the SAME STAINS on the toilet even after leaving for 2 weeks and coming back. I even deep cleaned the retail shelves for how old the foundation looked it seemed like it was never cleaned or used even. Anything I thought that could make someone say oh wow It looks clean or anything positive but it ended up making a couple of the employees mad? "Who put this here?!" "Whoever put this here, it goes here!" "For future please put those here" .... I could go on. Towards the end of all this I found my paper resume shoved in the desk drawer and was used as paper to write on? I've never seen this occur. I don't think I'll be returning to this business for any services, thank you. read more

Amie is really talented at taking you to the boundaries of the blonde you didn't think you could be, and she is skilled at installing all manner of extensions for that extra dramatic flair you've been craving. "Snooki" is a gifted nail tech that pampers you with that extra shoulder massage during a manicure that you will NEVER forget. Darla is a massage therapist and while she has a magical touch, it's her happy-go-lucky approach to everything that will leave it's mark on you forever. Kali is a really beautiful girl (an actual beauty queen! Ask her!) that will truly listen to what you want for your haircolor and/or cut, and bend over backwards to deliver it to you. I visited The Studio for some pampering while in town for a long weekend. I had a facial with Angel, a massage with Darla, followed by makeup by Amie. All of this was arranged by David. David also recommended dinner at Chandler's. When I told David that I was unable to get a reservation at a decent time, he called there! Next thing I know, we have a reservation at 5:30! The facial was awesome. Angel really knows her stuff! My face felt & looked amazing afterwards. She taught me loads of skin care tips for my skin type. The massage, also awesome! I've had many massages & this is possibly the best I've had. Darla listens & was responsive to my comfort level & problem muscle areas. In planning for dinner with my hubby after my spa day, David arranged makeup with Amie. She did a great job-I felt very pretty but not overdone. She also gave me great tips for my skin. Keep in mind as you read this review that each person I met at The Salon knew I was only there for a weekend. Odds were that I would never return. They all still treated me with the best customer service, as if they were wanting a return customer. It is my hope that anyone in the Boise area or visiting does pay The Salon a visit. To start off, the salon is extremely clean which was nice, but they don't have a dedicated nail tech or someone who does manicures. They are all cosmetologists. Normally this isn't a problem, but the manicure overall was terrible. I just wanted a polish change (listed on their site) but the girl didn't know what that was. She pushed my cuticles and didn't really file them evenly, and also cut them down. The nail polish itself is old and didn't go on smooth. There were spots with no polish on them because the top coat pulled the polish. I ended up having them re do my nails by someone else because it looked awful. The second time I got them done the polish is totally bubbled and not good looking. Overall this is a terrible manicure. It DEFINITELY was not worth the $30 they charged me, even though their website lists a $15 polish change. I showed the owner, David, the website and he just told me he charged me the cheapest he possibly could, which isn't true because he manually keyed in the price. He could have keyed in the $15 the site shows, but he told me he could only do it for $30. Overall I am extremely unhappy with the service and would not recommend to ANYONE they go back there read more

What a find! Saw Ashley for a manicure - fantastic. One of the best I've had, certainly the best in Boise. Clean, modern, friendly atmosphere...just what downtown needs. Was visiting Boise from San Francisco and needed a shellac-type manicure before heading home. Happened to find this salon while walking by and was lucky enough to get in with Ashley (she has a loyal clientele so can't always take walk-ins!). I am not kidding, this was the best shellac manicure I've ever had. Being from SF, that's saying something! I got french, and it lasted a full 2 weeks with zero chipping or cracking (which I didn't even know was possible), even though I'm very hard on my nails. Wish I could bottle her up and bring her down to the Bay Area! read more

Our experience there was awful. While the hair color was acceptable, their practices are deceptive. Website says 100+ for balayage they charged my teenager daughter $140 without even explaining or telling her. They also charged her $50 for a trim that she didn't ask for. When I called the manager for an explanation (and nothing more) I was treated very unprofessionally and was hung up on twice. I wouldn't recommend this place as they obviously don't value their customer and take advantage of any opportunity to charge as much as they can because their website pricing has a '+' behind it. read more

I got a pedicure with Brittany who was great. The pedicure seating is a 90 degree bench and I was hoping for a relaxing, typical pedicure experience. The seating was poor enough that my back hurt during my pedicure - and I'm young. I was too embarrassed to back out right in the middle so I ended up paying the full $45. David the owner listened to my complaint but had a lot of excuses and refused to refund this very expensive and very disappointing experience. He offered to comp a blow-out. I don't want a blow out. The person I have been getting my hair cut by off and on for the past ten years has been working at The Studio for approximately a year and a half. It was time to finally do something different with my hair than just maintain my current length/style, so it was a no brainer that I had to track down the one stylist who has always worked wonders with my hair. I ended up being really happy with not only my haircut, but the overall experience. The atmosphere at The Studio is pleasant - it is open, there are comfortable chairs to sit in while you wait, and it's in a nice part of downtown where you can watch what is happening outside. There are also high ceilings and lots of lighting, so it does not feel as cramped as many other hair salons are. While it is possible to hear the conversation of the person getting their hair cut one seat over (despite adequate spacing between stations), all of the stylists are friendly and the clientele reflects that positivity.
