This is a small spot and the people working here were so friendly. The tables however had sticky stuff and used toothpicks left on the table. The BLT was good. The tomato wasn't mushy and the bacon was the perfect amount and crispy without being crunchy. We didn't hate it but didn't love it. We had a lovely stop here for a family lunch. Close to town, tucked in to the back of a building sits this little cafe with delicious sandwiches. We had to wait a bit for someone to take our order then the food was promptly served. We had the turkey pesto sandwich ( I had said half but ended up with a whole), the best French dip around and a kids grilled cheese with bacon. A smattering of water and soft drinks rounded us out and we skipped sides for this meal though they were available on the menu. I appreciate when restaurants post a menu outside. The food is so good that it didn't last long enough for a photo. We got the breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. The burrito is bigger, and for a couple dollars more than the sandwich, it is reasonably packed with more inside a flaky tortilla. The sandwich is on smaller (standard) sliced sourdough but the right kind of buttery, and very filling. It came sliced in half and wrapped in separate foil. Such a cute location tucked away behind a small boutique. It has its own parking which was great. The biscuits are delicious. We had the biscuit sandwich and biscuits and gravy . The fresh flowers were such a nice touch. I loved the hot chocolate it was creamy and not overly sweet. The eggs and sausage were good. The hash browns were a little too crunchy for my taste. I like them soft in the middle and crunchy outside. Other then that the service was impeccable and the seating inside was spacious and so was the bathroom. It was very clean as well. Thought we would try a new restaurant today because our favorite place in Sumner has a long wait. So we came into Sumner Cafe. No one else in the restaurant. We ordered coffee. The waitress told us she was new. Very polite. But.... they can't do poached eggs we found out ok then egg whites,nope not that either. So I settled for 2 over medium eggs 2 slices of bacon and a slice of gluten free toast , grilled, so not to get cross contaminated in the toaster. We were brought our plates with the fork on the side of the plate. I asked for a spoon to stir my coffee, she handed me 2 wooden sticks. Bread was dry no butter. When she finally found the butter my toast was cold. Then I asked for jam, they only have strawberry jam. REALLY??? Not impressed.. no wonder we were the only ones in there. I still love this cafe. I love all their daily soups. Favs though are the split pea and tortilla(separate days). They have amazing freshly made cookies and bakery treats. All sandwiches are delicious and side of the tasty potato salad never disappoints, especially when you enjoy a couple sides by themselves. Support this local small business. Long time Sumner resident. 10.13 lunch visit. To go order. Order came out wrong. After discovering, I returned to have them correct it. Began explaining to a gal at the register and in the middle, the owner Daniel approach and interrupted and really wanted me to understand what his ticket said. Then kept asking what the problem was and would not listen to me. Was insitent that he was trying to understand but kept cutting me off and explaining what they did on the order. I asked for my money back and they obliged. But they were not interested in my perspective or experience and how they could make it right. Another helper chimed in and cut me off and asked me to leave. I wont even discuss the issues with the order unless Daniel responds to this and it is warranted. Doesn't matter if I ordered it wrong or was even not understanding something. He was not trying to understand me, he was intent on showing that he/they did what the ticket said. Came here based on the Yelp reviews after going to the Sumner Woodworking store. It wasn't what I was expecting. That's neither good nor bad. I was expecting more of a diner type thing. I guess I didn't read closely enough. This place is more of a sandwich shop with some extras tacked on. I got the pastrami sandwich with a cup of beef vegetable soup. Both the soup and sandwich were good. They were well prepared, and tasted okay, but I wasn't floored by any of it. The portions were a little small compared to many places, but I did not leave hungry. I was also glad I wasn't trying to eat something the size of a truck for once. It was somewhat refreshing, but I was a little torn on that. Their soda was by the can, which I don't ever know how to feel about since most places charge more for them than you'd pay in a convenience store. They had an espresso machine up front. Lunch is quickly becoming my favorite meal of the day since discovering the Sumner Cafe. I've never been a fan of tomato soup, I didn't like it as a kid, and that's never changed until today. They had tomato basil soup on the lunch menu, and it was very different than anything I've had before. I enjoyed it, and after that, I'll gladly try whatever they put in their daily lunch special. Not a bad place but I would classify it as a women's sandwich place - neat sandwich - not juicy and runs down your hands as you bite into it. The decorations sort of support that - not that that is a problem - just my classification. They have a cartoon (going by memory) that shows a man working around the house and the saying is something like - If your way doesn't work - do it the way your wife told you to in the first place. Isn't that discriminating and belittling to men? How come it is OK to put those in a restaurant - just wondering. The sandwich was thin and they bring the check with the meal - you know - eat and get out feeling. No refills of water. You don't get a pickle with the sandwich - seems like it is becoming more of a common practice - and I love pickles. Overall - it was lunch and we were full but not worth the trip back. This is a fabulous sandwich shop! My boyfriend and I stopped by because we were at the Classy Chassis car show and the owner, Sabrina, was out sampling her delectable sammies. I ordered a simple turkey sandwich, it was picture perfect, and tasted just as wonderful! My boyfriend ordered Turkey Gobbler on honey oat and it was like Thanksgiving on a sandwich. There is a sandwich sign on Main Street in Sumner Wa. advertising "Best Breakfast in town" Don't believe it. We walked in and the hostess acted like we were interrupting here break. There were only two occupied tables. One had two ladies and the other was sat with the waitress, as we realized soon enough. Hostess had a bad attitude. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. Food was less than average. The menu was sparse. I payed 10$ for a Ruben that had three times as much Sauerkraut as pastrami. I don't really know what they tried to pass of as biscuits for the biscuits and gravy. It looked like some sort of square flat bread with no taste whats so ever. Their Clam chowder was good. The way the place was run and as empty as it was I thought the place has just opened. Apparently it has been run by the building owner for the past three years, he also is the cooks. Not even a little impressed. We do not recommend this place until they get a better cook at the very least. How about adding an omelet or some North West trademark breakfast items to your menu? read more

The food might be g cheap but the service and experience was horrible--from that hostess to the kitchen staff to the manager. First I ordered the pumpkin iced drink off their advertisement. I specifically stated I wanted that one- which had whip cream. She brings one without whip cream. So instead of complaining I ordered another one, bigger to share. Then she says she won't charge me for the first one (probably $2). Then I ordered a meal with hash browns, asked for an extra fried egg for my hash browns. Our food comes with no hash browns for me but included my fried egg. The person who brought the food initially argued with me about what was on the ticket. I showed her the menu of what I ordered and she rolled her eyes and walked back to the kitchen. Thinking it wouldn't take too long for some hashbrowns, my boyfriend ate his food. After a while I started eating my French toast and my bacon. Nine minutes later she brings me half cooked hashbrowns and my egg that was already brought to me was completely cold. By this time my boyfriend had already finished his food.I explained that it took a long time and he was finished and my egg was cold. She asked if I wanted a refund and I said I'd like to be left alone. Explaining the situation at the cash register a man came out of the kitchen and told me that he was going to charge me full price because she comped me the small coffee in the beginning. I explain to him how it completely ruined my meal. And his response was "your price is full price." I left the restaurant and my boyfriend paid full price. I went back in I set my coffee cup down on the counter and I said "by the way, she comped me the first small coffee because she brought me the wrong coffee. And I walked out to my car. The man followed us outside and started yelling and said "the food must've been really good because you cleaned your whole plate"... which was a complete lie. All I know is that when I walked in a girl with dark hair short bob Isn't very welcoming ask if I'm here for delivery I stayed yes she then goes "OK what do you want "mind you this is as I'm looking at a menu. I'm like whatever I have a 16-year-old this girl seems young so I'm not gonna take offense to it. Then I'm standing there for a minute while she's more concerned and chitchatting with her coworker behind her seems inconvenienced that I'm asking whether they have pie or not, She states "no we don't have pie quote at this point I'm like him that's weird because literally there's a sign right there that says pie of the day she then corrects her self by going we don't have any more today at that point I said thank you and just walked out the door won't be going back Please keep in mind this is a review on the overall service as I didn't actually have anything to eat and I'm only giving two stars for that reason read more

I usually don't post on Yelp unless I'm traveling and trying super famous restaurants but I have to give this place 5 stars for its homey vibes and great food. I work nearby and come here 3-4 times a week. Usually I'll have their rotating lunch special with varying sandwiches and soups which are all great. Today, I had one of the best French dip sandwiches I've had in my life and I've had $30 French dips in New York that I won't be having again after finding this gem. Had been wanting to try this little sandwich place since I saw it on Yelp and Groupon. We went on a Friday mid-day and it wasn't busy. Take-out and boxed lunches are available. The owner Sabrina was very friendly and self-confident in her food options. She's uses several social networking outlets including Yelp and does Groupons or Living Social deals periodically. She does Groupon NOW deals frequently. We checked-in on Yelp and got $2 off. I loved them though because it was a good old-fashioned club sandwich. Like a previous reviewer commented, kind of like the kind grandma or mom used to make. I surely could make the same thing at home but why would I when someone else could make it for me? My husband had the Friday special which was a 1/2 Tuna and Clam chowder. The chowder was yummy but he said the Tuna was just slightly more wet than he likes- but still good. She does fountain sodas on a price scale- a lower price for one glass and a higher price for unlimited. The glasses are large though so one was enough. The food was out lightning quick too! This is my new favorite lunch spot! I tried Sabrina's Lunch in a Box yesterday and I was deighted! I got a Turkey bacon avacado sandwich on a crossiant and pasta salad as my side. I LOVED the sandwich. It was made with premium turkey and not a bit of fat on the thick bacon. The avacado was buttery and amazing! Best sandwich I have had in ages. The pasta salad was also very good. Spiral noodles with olives and seasonings, I made a good choice! For dessert I have Sabrina's homemade Berry Crisp which was out of the world! I was in heaven and decided right then and there would certainly be back. My only complaint was the price, it was a little more spendy then I normal would pay for lunch and a dessert but it would satisfying and I was pleased. Very warm atmosphere. read more
