First time coming to Dixie's. I had the Chicken fried steak, dad's potato's and a pancake . My partner had Chile and zucchini fries. Everything was delicious but the zucchini fries were so good . I will come right out and say, I generally don't stop at diners unless I've heard something great about their food. Anecdotally my experience with them is that they under season their food and are generally uninspiring. Taking my mother to breakfast while in Sumner this was the place to go on a 100-degree morning so she didn't have to wait outside in the heat. I ordered a breakfast of eggs, bacon hash browns and toast. I also got a of sausage gravy to help make the potatoes edible if they turned out flavorless. They must have been short staffed because the order came in pieces. By the time the gravy and toast made it the food was moving from warm to cool. The food itself. The only thing that made anything interesting was the sausage gravy. It wasn't just a country gravy with sausage, it had a hint of thyme which added a great flavor. However, the thyme got stuck in my teeth because they were like little hard slivers of herb. It might have been the bottom of the spice jar or put in late so it didn't have a chance to soften. While I generally do not like to give two stars, I really couldn't find anything to raise it 3 stars and don't plan on going back! read more

I ordered Eggs Benedict and the Blue Berry Crepes. The eggs Benedict was ok, I couldn't oder online and have the ham on the side so that was disappointing. However there was plenty of hollandaise sauce. The blue berry crepes has so much cream filling they should've been called cream crepes. Delicious local diner. My party of 6 was seated almost right away on a Sunday around lunch time and our server (forgot to ask his name) was really on it! Our food was excellent, hot and tasted home cooked. The biscuits were fresh and amazing! My 5 year old and 1 year old enjoyed the fresh fruit and oats. Restroom was also very clean and cute! I ordered pick up for the Basic Pig breakfast. The meal overall was good, however I feel like their eggs, sausage and potatoes could've had more seasoning. It tasted a bit unseasoned. Found this place from a delivery service app from for which I had a gift card. I wanted a breakfast / brunch "something" so I ordered the corned beef and hash with a side of pancake. The food here is consistent. My favorite dish is the California Benny. I find that any Benny with bacon is superior to one with ham, but that's my personal preference and I love that they offer that here and I don't have to be that person asking for a substitution. The people here have always been nice. We've eaten in several times, this time we got to go. I love that there is more than one option for what kind of potatoes you want with your dish. It's your typical small town diner, busy and loud when it's packed. If eating in on a weekend, come early or with enough time to wait as the line can get pretty long. The cinnamon roll French toast was undercooked and had some sort of stale frosting squirted all over it. The Hashbrowns were soaked in grease that did not taste fresh. The scrambled eggs were from a carton I'm sure, and not fresh cracked. The butter is whipped margarine. Nothing tasted fresh or good. The prices are high for sub grade food. That brings me to the service. Our server was nice and efficient. However the hostess who refilled the coffee spilled all over the table and just left it, like it didn't happen. No apology. Last Sunday me and my husband decided to give dixies a try after driving past a few times. We get there and park, kinda excited to try a new breakfast spot. Well we park and walk in, get greeted by a young lady that says we are kinda busy go to the booth and we'll seat you. Ok, no problem at all. So we walk up and wait for the hostess because she is assisting another customer. We notice an empty booth with no one in it. But we just do as we are told and wait. Well as we are waiting for her, we see a white couple come in after us and get seated while we were clearly there first. Never have I ever experienced this type of shitty service because the color of our skin color. Kinda ticked off, my husband asks the guy hostess/waitress what's up with that and he shrugs his shoulders. The girl that we were waiting for at the front of the restaurant just blatantly acts like she didn't see anything. In disgust we walk out, I was sooooo shocked that it happened.!!!! Needless to say, I hope if you ever give this place a try, that they never make you feel like how we felt that Sunday for us. It's 2021 and to still experience racism and inequality from a restaurant is just sad! Food and staff are wonderful and it really is the only place you can go for a good early breakfast in the area that isn't a fast food chain. This place is LOUD though - chatter echoes the walls.
