They have trash cans by the stair case that smells terrible with roaches and flies and we have to pass it every time we go into our room. We booked this condo expecting a relaxing beach vacation. Instead, it felt like every day came with a new surprise--and not the good kind. Let's start with the condition of the unit. The walls were literally falling apart, and the bathroom had water leaking through the shower wall from the unit above us. When we reported it, we were told they couldn't do anything because the unit upstairs wasn't managed by them. While I understand that may be true, it doesn't change the fact that we paid for a room with water leaking into the bathroom. The bathroom light also had a mind of its own. Every time you flipped the switch, it took a couple of minutes to turn on, like it was still asleep and needed its morning coffee before deciding to work. The TV wasn't much better. The remote wouldn't change the channels, so if we wanted to watch something, we had to get up every single time and manually change the channel on the cable box. After putting up with all of these issues, we were finally told we could move to another unit--but only on the last night of our 4-night stay. Even then, the replacement unit wasn't ready until around 5:00 p.m., so we spent most of the day waiting. Then we had to pack up every single one of our belongings and move everything ourselves... just to sleep there for one night before checking out the next morning. To make things even worse, the replacement unit didn't even have the pull-out couch that our original unit had. It was just a regular couch, even though we booked a unit that was supposed to accommodate six people. We also spent most of our vacation using only one bathroom, despite paying for a two-bathroom unit. After all of that, no refund, no partial refund, no discount, and no real compensation was offered. Definitely false advertisement from Vrbo and staff. They were very quick to charge my card (Red Flag) I was upset I could not enjoy the beautiful view. Room number is at the end of this review. Chairs are full of rust (nothing like the pictures from Vrbo and staff at Laguna Reef) patio table was very dirty and rusty. The frame from sliding door was also rusty and kind of hard to pull, very dirty. The furniture from the living room are in poor poor condition. Coffee table was wobbly..it felt like it was going to fall apart. The Tv is mounted crooked (necks were hurting) the small table on the wall is also slanted not straight. Drinks were uneven..had to be very careful to not spill anything. The couch is filthy underneath, full of dust and dirt, rug is also dirty. Not good for anyone with allergies. Linen smelled like they have been dirty for a while. I had to buy a blanket and meds for allergies. Not very friendly from staff or locals. My husband and I took a walk on the pier (no rails) very dangerous for little ones. A person from the office walked all the way down to the pier to make sure we were guests. He asked if we were guests and for our room number. Hopefully it wasn't because of our skin color. I definitely will NOT go back. Went with my family for a whole week on vacation we expected more. Almost every street we used had…read morea lain closed and a lot of traffic. It wasn't as pretty as we expected. We also didn't like the beach much the sand was sharp and felt like tiny cuts. I don't know how to explain it but my nephew and I left with tiny cuts on our arms and legs. I would recommend going to either Galveston because of the beautiful scenery. Even the drive into Galveston is beautiful. The beach is good the sand there feels fine. I also recommend South Padre Island vary beautiful. The beach is absolutely gorgeous my family and I loved it. The sand feels amazing and the water is beautiful and clean.

After arriving we were very pleasantly surprised with the complimentary gift waiting for us -- thanks John and Liza! The view is second to none, absolutely beautiful. This was a 1 bedroom Condo, so it wasn't a big place, but it was very nicely decorated, the kitchenette had everything that we needed to fix meals, and the beds were very comfortable. We spent time on the beach, 2 very nice pools, and toured the USS Lexington and Texas State Aquarium. Great location, great hosts, and recommend it highly! We will be back!

Golf Waters Beach RV Resort: where paradise meets pest control problems…read more Let's start with the good -- the place itself is stunning. The landscaping looks like it was done by angels with hedge trimmers, the Tiki Hut is straight out of a Jimmy Buffett song, and the outdoor kitchens are so spotless you could perform surgery on the countertops. The people? Couldn't be friendlier if they tried. Now the bad -- bring your own gallon of bug spray, because the mosquitoes clearly got the memo this is prime real estate too. And then, the real kicker: golf cart rentals. You'd think in Port A you could shop around for a deal. Nope. Here, it's less free market and more "mob mentality." You can only rent from one company -- and surprise! It's also the most expensive one in town. Why? Because apparently if Golf Waters doesn't get their "cut," no other companies are allowed in. So Port A Beach Buggies jacks up the prices to keep the relationship sweet, while guests like us get the privilege of paying the highest rate in town. In short: the resort is gorgeous, the people are lovely, but if you don't want to be eaten alive or fleeced on golf cart rentals, pack DEET and maybe a bicycle."

There was no place to set your chairs. We saw one of their workers attempting to rake some of the debris but the equipment he had was way insufficient for the amount of debris. We had to get in our car and drive to the nearest beach access to enjoy the beach.

No places to hang bathing suits or towels. Again, for what we paid, we were a bit disappointed. Overall, we had a nice escape from the heat, humidity, and rat race of Houston. Certainly a much better experience than the negative reviews.

It's a well established resort with large shade oaks throughout, roomy concrete rv pads, cottages, a motel, an activity hall, laundry, and showers. Everything is clean and the park is well maintained. Utilitities were reliable, cable TV was provided, and water pressure was good. Many of the rv pads have a patio extension and it looked like there were picnic tables at every pad and in front of every cottage.The cottages, judging by the one we stayed in, are roomy and well equipped with necesssities including a pod coffee maker, kitchen ware, TV, and robust air conditioner to keep you cool in the heat. There is no pool or playground, making this park more suitable for adults only, however, there is a shady fenced dog park those with furry companions. The activity hall has a large selection of books and cds, a TV, folding tables and chairs to support a variety of activities, and a well appointed card table. Best of all, BTB has a wonderful staff who are intent on making your stay as pleasant as possible. After staying a couple of months, we felt like we were leaving behind old friends when we moved on, and we wish them well.

If you come here, you must bring binoculars to watch all the birds that call the wetlands home. We were pleasantly surprised that the house is stocked with supplies that including plastic dishes for the kiddos, board and card games and so much more. It was so clean and had plenty of bathrooms / space for our large group of 10 . The beds were so comfortable and it was perfect for our family beach weekend.
