Turned out my unit was over fifteen years old and had buildups of rust and sediment that needed to be cleaned up and drained , after discussion with their representative, I decided on a new install. Two stars and I'm being very generous. They have one mission and it's not service. It's to tell you that you need big expensive repairs right now. I fell for it on the A/C. They left me with a huge bill and a bunch of broken promises. Later they did the "free" plumbing tune up inspection. What a joke. Thats when I was told I needed to immediately fix this and fix that and I had to replace my water heater asap. Almost $3,000 quote. Very disappointed with The Surfin' Plumbers. I highly recommend NOT using this company for any project. We had our water heater replaced almost a month ago and are extremely dissatisfied with the workmanship and the service. We've made numerous phone calls to management to express our concerns about the work done and the damage that was caused to our home during the installation. It took days and multiple phone calls to the company before the manager ever returned our call. When we received a call back we were ensured that the damages would be repaired. The Surfin' Plumbers sent someone out to assess the damage and had two scheduled appointments for them to come back to fix the damage. Both times the plumber has been a no call/ no show. We have left several messages in attempt to speak to a supervisor but cannot get anyone on the phone or to return our call. We are beyond frustrated! read more

I have used them for two years and have had a good and positive experience​. But a dishonest salesman from their company came to​ fix a leak and told me my plumbing​ was deteriorating​ and I needed to have my house replumbed. He lied about so many things and started the project on a different timeline than he had promised. One worker stepped through my ceiling in two places! They left an ugly white covering over the tile in my tub. Replumbed and put a red and a blue plastic pipe running down the side of my house. It was and still is a disaster! They never have contacted me. I have called them 11 times! Never once have they given me a follow-up​ call. I have had to initiate​ all contact. They have fixed many of the issues but not all. The Surfin' Plumbers ordered vehicle wraps from our company at the beginning of 2020. We were told they would pay by credit card, then Jeremy Self asked if we "could wait" until the following week and they needed to pay by check instead of credit card (after the product had been installed). Then I continued to get the run around from both Leslie, Jeremy, and Nancy regarding their bill. I was told on multiple occasions a check was in the mail. A check never arrived. Five months after ordering I decided to try running the credit card Jeremy had originally provided since we had documentation that they agreed to the estimate, agreed to the design and production, and agreed to pay by credit card. That charge was then disputed by The Surfin' Plumbers and I was forced to provide all documentation to our Merchant Services provider. They continued to deny they authorized the orders and Merchant Services subsequently agreed with their dispute because I did not have a signature on our documents, only email documentation showing they approved the orders, cost, and payment (which we require on our estimates, digital documentation). The Surfin' Plumbers continue to ignore requests to pay their Bill, and I believe have no intention on paying the $5000 (approximate) they owe our company. This is not the first time we have had issues with this company paying a bill that is due. They are ALWAYS late, and in the past the previous owner stuck us for a large sum. We should not have assumed the new owner would be different. Everyone who works at this company is shady, they ignore communication. They go above and beyond to AVOID paying what they owe, actually. He spent more than an hour doing the inspection and tune-up although I was his last call of the day. Their appointment setter was delightful and the office dispatcher kept me updated about his ETA. I can not say enough about this company and the work they did for our family... We were in a bad situation with our new home. We knew something was wrong as we had a lot of dirt in our home on a daily basis and could not understand why??? The Rep Ryan from this Company came out and discovered what was going on and he arranged for Chris, Rick & Arron to came out.These 3 men worked very hard to correct these issues especially Chris as he cleaned the outside air handler in which was impacted with construction Deb-re and dirt. Chris, was joined by Rick and Arron in which replaced the crushed duct work that was being crushed under the plumbing pipes as well as laying on the ground with holes. This is how the dirt was entering into our home. They took this job to heart and you could tell that they really wanted to make this bad situation right for us... This company put my sister and her husband through hell. Saying they will be there at a specific time and not showing up at all, to hooking up the showers wrong and having to ruin day old tile and drywall work they just paid to get up, to saying "sorry, we will send three guys out tomorrow and they will finish the job" but only one showed up and didn't finish. This is wrong. It is BAD business to make commitments you can't keep. It has delayed other jobs and/or created more things to get fixed now. I give this company 1 star it's because I have to put one star and it's for the constant bullshit they feed their customers and put them through. My wife and I had used them to install an HVAC unit back in December of 2018. We had previously signed up for their Monthly program so we would be sent to the front of the list for repair calls and emergencies... In July we had an issue that they came out to check and said we needed a new fan unit because it just kept running even with the system shut off. After lying to me about when the part was to be delivered after calls wondering why they hadn't call, I was told the part wouldn't be there till the following week and they scheduled me a "first call" for the agreed upon day. (So this is the first rescheduled time) On the day they were supposed to come out as "first call of the day" I ended up having to call them at noon to see why they hadn't shown yet. Was told that they would be out soon. They didn't show up until 5pm. They replaced the fan unit and it didn't correct the problem. They said that we would need to run a new thermostat wire and the tech "rigged" the fancy wiring it directly to the compressor so it would shut off as it was running constantly for two weeks while I waited for them to get their shit together. (only way to shut the fan off was to kill power at the breaker to the HVAC unit) In Florida summer heat, that wasn't going to happen... So now we have a extra pricey electric bill and still no real fix and have to schedule another day for them to come out because it's "Too late in the day" for them to run the wire. After not hearing anything for two days I call to find out why I hadn't heard from them, and schedule a date once again. (2nd time scheduling for the same issue) That day came around and once again I wait to hear from them...nothing. I called again, even got transferred to their Customer Care Manager, Leslie that didn't really do much for me, said they would give me 2 years of the monthly program for free... Woooo. BULLSHIT. So Then they give me anther date (3rd reschedule 4th overall... two weeks later, which is today,(9/11/19) and FIRST CALL of course, I end up calling them at 9:30am as I hadn't heard anything. I get told that they sent the techs to another call that was an "emergency" and they would let me know when they would be out. 4 hours later I get a phone call saying they wouldn't be out until after 5pm. Kiss my ass... I told them that wasn't going to work for me as we already had evening plans because we expected the job to be done by 4pm, not starting at 5. SO now we wait again with no answers... I have used them before, but this time they were shockingly unprofessional and I won't use them again. The lead repairman, Justin,used my tools he found around the house without asking, then didn't even put them back. I called twice to speak with him, but no return of phone call. It took me 3 days to find my flashlight, and the ergonomic slanted stool I have had a big dirt footprint on it and also not put back. They broke a glass dish (I heard it hit the cement as I was nearby) Not only did they not apologize, they didn't even acknowledge it. They just swept it up leaving glass shards on my cement steps, hopped in the van and left. I never signed anything to indicate completion and they never signed my warranty papers. I was mailed forms I was supposed to sign. Tried to return them in person, but I couldn't find their office, so now I have to mail those in. read more

A so called tech. from their Bradenton outfit showed up at my condo within an hour or 2 of my calling them. I needed an estimate on replacing a 30 gal. hot water heater...yes, you read right! A 30 gal. 'Marty' called me within 15 minutes stating it did in fact "need replacing, because whoever looked at it last...left the gas valve in the wrong position and that it was leaving gas fill my condo!" He really sounded as though this was going to kill someone any minute"...Well, I have a renter there thru April as I live in a northern state year round. Marty stated he not only needed to replace the water tank, but the valve & 'expansion' tank needed replacing as well! How much for everything I inquired, although I knew he was stammering & stuttering his way through the BS 'pitch' he was spewing to me. $2100.-2200! No Sh*# I exclaimed! I told him I'd just put in a top of the line 40gal A.O. Smith in my other home at a cost of $750.-800. A friend who is knowledgeable in sweating a couple of copper pipes and I did the job in 2 1/2 hrs. ourselves! I also told this rip-off artist 'clown' to turn around, leave my condo immediately & never to return. He yelled to me over the phone that I'd never find a less expensive option in the Bradenton/Sarasota area to do the job. Ha!~ I called Phillips Plumbing about a 15 min. drive from my condo. Pete had a guy over there in an hour, and he called me with a fair price of 1,100., and I gave him the job. The girl from this Surfin' plumbers outfit called me later in the day...demanding very loudly that I was to give her my cc# immediately for the $49.- fee to get a guy over there. I didn't have a cc with me at the time, so I said I'd be glad to mail them a check...which I did the next day. She screamed we're a C.O.D. company and that was NOT acceptable. I hung up on her! They cashed the 49.-check today as I see it cleared my bank. Hey people...Phillips was timely, they were polite, they were very reasonable, & a pleasure to work with! Where to start........ We were needing service on our AC unit, it was only 1 year old and the company that installed it went out of business. We got a card in the mail from Surfin Plumbers offering a service call for $49.00 so we called and service was great. Their rep offered a one year service contract for $119.40 and we accepted and paid for that up-front. Upon inspection by their rep it was discovered our ductwook needed to be replaced, we had some water issues and that required a dehumidifier and their rep advised we needed an air scrubber as well. Because of the moisture under our house mold and mildew was forming, it was recommended remediation and also encapsulation of the entire area was needed to control further spread. We agreed to a contract for this work and they started right away. Communication with this company was horrible, we were told certain things would be done and the work was sloppy; the team manager is not as responsive as she should be nor did she follow through on certain verbal and written agreements as we discussed. The installers never started work until 10 to 11 am on any day, stood around a lot and even at one time I was told they left me tape, etc to finish the encapsulation! Several times workers had to be called back to correct the installed ducts that were not properly secured to main trunk or floor air vents; the dehumidifier had to be moved 3 times to place where it was originally agreed to be installed; one air return was completely crushed and left that way because they used flex instead of a metal elbow (one of their installers, Chris Moore changed that to a metal elbow and now we have air return). Sometimes it took up to two weeks for phone calls to be returned. Proper and complete installation, which should have taken only 3 days to complete, took over a month to accomplish and completed by Chris Moore just yesterday, October 27, 2020. Chris is in my opinion the most experienced and through member of this company. In discussing the poor service we got from Surfin Plumbers with their manager I was reassured the work would be completed satisfactorily and completely and we should have good air flow in our home. I asked her several times for documentation on all the mehanical equipment and was told they would be given to me (apparently when the installers opened boxes they threw away or kept this paperwork). I had also discussed with the manager that proper air flow was not happening since this install took place - sereval times! In one conversation she said that since they did not install the HVAC unit, she was not comfortable sending techs out to work on our unit! Seriously, any company can work of any HVAC unit and we did pay for their annual service as I mentioned above. The problem was the installers crushed the return air return and that's why we did not have proper air return. Our further concern was proper registration of the equipment to assure warranties were in place. Finally got that paperwork but the air scrubber information was still not available. I was told this would be followed through on. We shall see. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! read more

They quoted me to come out at 3 at which at 9:30am, told them I would need someone sooner than that, and I was gonna call around to get someone sooner. Ms. Jen (I think that's her name) said "oh hang on let me call the dispatchers and see what we can do for you. Okay, I put you down as an emergency, so you will have the next available dispatcher." They came in and installed a new central unit for way cheaper, found an installation done a the time the house was built that needed repair with no additional charge AND gave me a new thermostat and outside leaf cover. I called them to come find a leak in lines i connected. I used to do AC work but no longer have the equipment. There first tech came and attempted to find the leak using a paper cup filled with water. He said he found some but couldn't find a final one. Then he said there was a leak in his gages. Regardless the problem was not fixed they sent another tech he had nothing to either test for the leak or repair. I plan to get my money returned. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. We are seniors on a small fixed income and were charged $233.00 to fix a shower faucet that was leaking.( the company claims this is a standard book rate charge for our problem regardless of how long it takes to fix it) It took the tech all of 5 minutes and he was done. After the fact, when we knew what part was needed, we looked it up on the internet and found out the part was $26.60 direct from Moen.The service call was supposedly free so that means they charged $206.00 labor for 5 minutes.That figures out to be $2472 an hour for labor! Do not use this Company. My wife and I had a salesman show up on Labor Day morning to give us the "sales pitch" for a new A/C system. Shame on us for not getting more estimates and using Google, Yelp, Angie's List, Better Business Bureau...etc to properly vett Company. We ended up signing a contract and the Wells Fargo Home Improvement Credit Card. The card was charged the FULL amount and it posted the day before the work even started. Sept 6th, 2019 a technician showed up, and he had to wait for an assistant. Later in the evening the new system was installed, and because it was late, my wife and I brought take out for the techs, so they would not miss supper. The second part of the job was to blow in insulation in the attic where the air handler is located. Next week when they arrived, after two no-show / no-call appointments not adhered to, the blower machine failed. O.K., machinery does break, but it took over another week to finally get them back. Meanwhile, as stated earlier, the entire amount of the job had already been charged to our credit card. My wife did call, two days after we signed the contract to express our apprehension of the cost and quick signing we made the mistake of doing, and she was extremely well-assured that we were getting a high-quality unit and the highest in workmanship. Fast forward to when they finally showed up two hours late for the insulation install. Thankfully, I happened to be up there most of the time in the attic for this job (along with enlarging the intake and discharge main ducts). I asked about where the UV lamp was located in the unit. I was told we did not have one installed. My wife and I paid for that in the contract, and initially, it was over a $900 upsell. We paid about $275 for a $50 light bulb. I showed the technician the paperwork, so at least we got the UV lamp installed. A couple of days later, now this has been three weeks since the brand new install, I was looking for the AC filter. I could not find it, so I called The Surfin' Plumbers. I took over five days for them to come out. As it turns out, they had installed a brand new unit with no filter whatsoever. Even worse, they had foil taped all around where the filter was supposed to be. So much for the high-quality workmanship we had been promised. I am still waiting for the smaller branch lines to be inspected and sealed as per out contract. There was no thermal imaging or smoke test done, and the Salesman told us in a quick initial inspection we had "leaks" or holes in our lines. I have called the Bradenton, Florida office numerous times to inquire about the no-show / no -calls and just get a repetitive apology. The same thing numerous times. You would think when a customer calls to complain about not being notified of a cancellation, they would insure they let us know if it is going to happen again, so we do not waste an entire day waiting at home. The Surfin' Plumbers are actually based out of Tennessee. I have called their corporate number to file a complaint, and I have been told three time that it has been "escalated". My last call was about ten days ago, and still no reaching out to my wife and I. Our brand new unit has not come with any warranty paperwork or the installation guide. I have requested this information for my home files numerous times from them. Please do not make the same mistake my wife and I made. Use the resources available to do your research before dealing with any major home project. I should have been wary when a salesman comes out on a Holiday morning and also keeps saying I will call my supervisor to see if we can lower the cost. Total damage: $8922 for a Daiken unit and not a Carrier, Trane or Rheem. This company does not appear to have the desire to build long-term customer relationships based of honesty and customer service. If I could rate them as no stars I would. Horrible experience. I will spell out everything here so you can see exactly what I went through so you know this isn't just an upset customer for something small. This will probably be long, so be prepared. As a note, this isn't directed towards their techs. They were actually decent guys, but clearly this company is shorthanded and not ran well at all. I make the initial call, and they schedule a guy to come out and quote me on replacing my ducts. No problems there, its a sales call so it's done quick. The guy that comes out is nice enough, quotes me a price that seems high, but explains some things and makes me feel like it's a good choice, plus I needed them replaced fast as the former owners of the house smoked inside and with the hot weather and AC needing to be on, my house was smelling really bad. During his walk through he informs me of the job particulars and one thing that he said was the bedrooms without returns would have to have them put in with new building codes. (This tidbit will become relevant later in this review). So, I tell him let's go ahead and do it. This is a Friday and he tells me the company is slow right now, so they can come out and start on Monday. I mention that I will be in West Palm but will leave early Monday morning. He says great, they will be there in the afternoon to start the job and will finish Tuesday. Ok, great I think. I will arrange my work schedule so that I'm able to have them there Mon and Tues. Monday- I leave WP by 7am, and am home before lunch. I start doing things around the house and as I look, it's now going on 3pm. Wondering where they are, I call. The girl answers the phone to tell me that they won't be out there today. So no one was going to call to tell me that? Great, a day wasted. I share my disappointment with her that they didn't even call and was told they are short people because a tech had family emergency. Ok, still could have called. I'm told they will be out there the next morning. Tuesday- Yes, they came out, but not until the afternoon!! Remember this job was supposed to be completed this day and they are just getting started. I will add, this isn't a couple hour job. They are replacing the whole duct system and adding insulation. So they start the job, tech comes back down towards the end of the couple hours and takes notes on what they will need the following day for materials to complete the job. I ask him about the returns in the bedrooms that the first guy told me about, and he says he wasn't aware of that but would ask the guy. He tells me they will be back in the morning but have a training at the office so it would be probably around 9 or so. I tell him I'm unhappy and hope that their manager is aware. Wednesday- 11am I get a call that they are coming. Again I explain to the girl that I'm not happy. This job was supposed to be done already and now here we go again, they won't be on site until the afternoon. Sure enough it's about 1:30-2 before they arrive. This time different tech. He was frustrated because the list of materials he received was incomplete therefore informing me that the job wouldn't be finished today either. So they did what they could do, but yes, no way it would be finished today. He tells me that he will be there the following morning by 8:30 after they go to the supply house. I joke and say let's just say 9 to be safe. Through all of this I remained as nice as I could be to the techs because as mentioned above, they were nice and they were working hard when they were there. I tell him that I hope he knows how frustrated I am and that I hope a manager is aware, this is a different tech that I'm sharing my unhappiness with that I hope is getting back to someone. Thursday- They show up at 10am. This time I'm a little more frustrated but at least they are there before noon. The guys work hard for the whole day, but I inform them that I need to leave by 4. As this was supposed to be completed by Tues, I didn't think planning something on Thurs would be an issue. End result, the job wouldn't be finished today either, not that an hour would make a difference. So, I'm told it will be done tomorrow. Well it better be, as I was leaving Saturday for a few days. I also again ask about the returns in the bedrooms and this tech has no idea what I'm talking about. Friday- They show up nice and early. Only took a week to do that. They work throughout the day to get the job done. At the end of the day, the tech tells me they are done. Nice enough guy and I know that they did their best. Summary: This was a very expensive job. I had to finance it. I had to take a whole week off of work. Their trucks left oil spots. Not ONCE was I contacted by an owner or manager for my troubles. That's what I'm most upset about. Not competitive, very pricey. Don't join the service maintenance for the monthly fee not worth it. They just want to find something wrong so they can fix it and charge their outrageous pricing. I had the monthly service agreement and they came out to do the service on the A/C and I ask specifically if he cleaned the drains. The tech said he did which you would think this is a absolute must thing to do for the maintenance on the A/C. Come to find out after having another company come out to give me a price on fixing a problem with my A/C the drains were clogged only after one day of the Surfin tech being there. I called the company to complain and the phone rep said that Jeremy would be calling me. But no call to date. Bad customer service. I also had them do the plumbing maintenance and the tech only found an issue with my RO water purifier that had not been working for 5 years. Not sure why he didnt notice that it wasn't even hooked up. He didn't even say a word about the leaking sink faucet or the toilet running. Don't think they really check the plumbing at all. They temporarily fixed the problem but did tell us this was a bigger issue and will continue to happen until we fix it. We signed up for their monthly membership which included an a/c and hot water heater tune up. The tune up on the a/c , they told us we only had a short time until we needed to replace it. We got a quote from them but ended up going with another company. A second occasion, after the a/c had been replaced by a different company, they told us our water heater was on its last leg and should be replaced. That was months ago. It's still fine. We had another issue with the pipes backing up into our shower. We called them out and they told us not to use the water until they could fix the problem. The next day they came out and said they could get us set up with water temporarily but first had to sign the contract. So we did. And now it's been over a month and the manager still has not returned the several phone calls about what they are actually charging us for. read more

Ok, so I found the most recent review really funny. I encountered this guy on 275 yesterday. He was driving REALLY slow in the left lane (a ticketable offense in some states)...I had at least 10 cars behind me. Well, the surfin plumber thought I was a bit close, so he slammed on his brakes, and gave me a hand gesture out his window...I found that really funny, too. End result...all of the cars passed him on the right, and I came home to look at his Yelp reviews, and decided I had to write one myself! I would not recommend. I had them quote a stainless steel free standing laundry sink install with faucet. This was pre plumbed by the builder. They quoted 862. I had it done for 200 for time and materials. Took the plumber less than 2 hours! WAY OVER PRICED!!!! read more

Had a gas hot water heater replaced after hours on a Sat night. Was able to call and speak to a live person. Had someone dispatched who arrived in about an hour. Was told there was a $120.00 charge for the plumber to show up which I agreed to. Plumber arrived and diagnosed problem. The unit needed to be replaced. I had already researched tank prices ($500 neighborhood.) My wife and I figured the weekend visit and install would be $900-$1000. The plumber explained to us that they work off a flat rate pricing. When he informed us the job would cost $1700 my wife and I almost passed out. This was pricing for the Kahuna Club (16.50/per month) which waives the $120 trip charge and gives us a discount on the parts. I agreed to have them perform the install because I had them onsite and they could do the job then. They told us they are not the cheapest (not by a long shot.) They would not provide a breakdown of the invoice. I know we overpaid for this job by about $700 dollars. People I have spoke to all say the same thing "YOU PAID WHAT FOR A HOT WATER HEATER!!!" While The Surfin Plumbers are VERY expensive I must say they were VERY PROFESSIONAL and did a GREAT JOB down to cleaning the mess the broken tank created. My only issue with the service they provide is very high prices. They may want to take a long hard look at their pricing model. Most consumers know when they are being taken.
