We ordered a cake for my son's bday party. It was delicious but expensive for what it was. Most of the decor they did was pretty simple (blue frosting, one sign with my son's name and oreo crumbs on top), and I put some toys on top of it and other items which made the cake look a lot better (the toys cost me a dollar total and they wanted to charge me more than 20 bucks for doing the same thing) Again - the cake tasted great, but the price was high and the decoration was underwhelming. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this place! They put together a beautiful, last-minute, birthday cake for a pole dancer friend of mine. Best place in Seattle for quality cakes and other speciality items. We moved to Seattle about six years ago and have been going to sweet side since then. Sweet side has great cakes, Macrons, cookies and recently Cinnamon Buns. Kara is a great owner, takes pride in her creations and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

OMG we just had the Salted Caramel Cheesecake and it was AMAZING!! Possibly the best cheesecake I have ever had. Staff was very nice!!!

The macaron drip cake that was prepared for my daughter's birthday was, according to my daugher, the prettiest cake she has seen ever and it was very tasty. Delicious cheesecakes! We've had both the New York and the Apple Pie. Both are very good. Ordering over the phone is super easy, you agree upon a pickup time/date, and then your cheesecake is waiting for you when you stop by. While parking on this block is tough, there almost always seems to be spots along NE 45th right in front of the gas station, so then you just have to walk across the crosswalk to get your cheesecake. I truly do not understand a business who runs on "custom" cakes can't even allow me to order one of their standard custom cakes for a bday. Truly doesn't make sense to me - and the bday is over a week away! I have read the reviews and it states you need to order a cake within 7 days. It's the 10th and I need it by the 20th but they are all booked. Really don't get it. I threw my wife a baby shower and used The Sweet Side to have a custom cake made plus ordered some macaroons and pretzel sticks. All items were amazing! Kara and Elizabeth were so easy to work with right from ordering a tasting sample box to finalizing the cake design and picking up the cake. It was delicious! Macaroons were just perfect. I ordered my wedding cakes from here. It was a small wedding so we didn't have a custom cake, and instead ordered from the ones already listed on the site. We went with the strawberry short cake and the lemon blueberry cheesecake. Both were amazing. They were lovely to look at and had great flavor. Our guests raved about both of them. We asked Sweet Side Bakery to create a VERY customized cake for our wedding - one that showed off our love for the city of Seattle and the Seattle Mariners. While we had a concept for our cake, Kara from Sweet Side took our rough ideas and turned them into an amazing product - a three-tiered cake that was both delicious and beautiful. We received many compliments on the cake's design from our guests, and working with Kara was both easy and fun. She was very attentive and responsive to our initial query as well as to our questions. My parents who live out of state ordered a birthday cake for me from the Sweet Side. I hadn't been to this bakery before but so glad we did. The cake was amazing. It was the traditional German chocolate cake but with their coffee icing... And it was awesome. You guy should consider adding it to your regular menu. Will be back! read more

Kara made the sweet bar for our wedding- an adorable cutting cake, and a variety of desserts including marshmallow pops, rice krispies, pie pops, macarons and s'mores shooters. First of all, we are from Alaska and planned the entire West Seattle wedding online. We liked what we saw at The Sweet Side so we went with them. SO glad we did! We ordered 9 of Kara's signature cakes. They were stunning, just stunning. And then we cut into them and they were fantastic, and by that I mean DELICIOUS. Our guests were so happy and so impressed, we were too! When my daughter and her bridesmaids went to pick up the cakes, they were enchanted by the bakery. They said it was adorable and pristine. Also, they said it felt like a bunch of best friends were in there baking together. It's nice to know that a bit of fun and love goes into Kara's special cakes. My sister ordered her boyfriend's birthday cake from here which turned out pretty well! It was the shape of a Seahawk jersey and was a red velvet cake. When I went to pick it up, his name was spelled wrong on the cake! Luckily we had enough time before the birthday party for her to come back and redo the letters... But it didn't look the best after she had made the quick adjustments! The cakes seem overpriced for the design quality which is unfortunate but this was my only experience with the company. Got a 6" round for my kid's birthday. I actually served home made cupcakes and had just bought the cake for the whole candle blowing thing. However, most kids wanted CAKE! I called Kara, explained the party and the activities the guests would be doing over the phone, and after just that one, brief call, she made a cake that was PERFECT! And not only did it look amazing, it was delicious! (Sometimes I find myself disappointed by the fancy bakery cake, because the cake itself is dry -- but not in this case.) The employees here are so nice and the desserts are amazing! I ordered the salted caramel cheesecake and they were very accommodating to my specific requests and had the cake done with special requests within a few hours. The employees all seemed very excited to make this cake for my work event and it is easy to tell they love what they do. Today I brought the cheesecake in to work and it was devoured within minutes! We loved working with Kara when we planned our wedding, she's the most accommodating person on the planet. My husband and I knew we wanted chocolate cake but couldn't decide on a filling because they're all too good! So, we asked Kara if we could do 3 different fillings of approximately the same number of slices of each filling between a 4-tier cake and a 2-tier groom's cake. Kara said absolutely she could make it happen. Then, about 3 weeks before the wedding, we realized our expected guest count of 250 was actually going to be 200 which meant we were going to be swimming in cake (not the worst thing! But also, I was hoping we weren't going to have to pay for cake that wouldn't be eaten). We called The Sweet Side and explained, asked if we could switch to 2 flavors and would they let us downsize at all without sacrificing height? A few hours later, I had an email in my inbox from Kara with a few options of how we could make 2 flavors work for fewer slices while still keeping the big cake at 4-tiers and the groom's cake at 2-tiers. Aside from all of this outstanding customer service, our cakes were also absolutely DELICIOUS and the designs were exactly what we had described. We couldn't have been happier with The Sweet Side, and we're looking forward to ordering an "anniversary" cake from them every year going forward so that we can relive the best day of our lives!! read more
