Believe it or not - as a Rhode Islander - this was my first trip to an Iggys. It did not disappoint! The fish and chips were amazing. My dining partners had the fish sandwich (which I tried and will definitely make a trip back to order one for myself) and the other had a hot dog. That too was excellent! With the Fish and Chips came chowder and I chose my favorite - Rhode Island. That too did not disappoint. The flavor and portion were perfect. The staff is primarily young and energetic. Some may not like the easy going atmosphere but I enjoyed it. Their enthusiasm added to the upbeat vibe. I never saw one of them not working. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star is the fact the ordering process - specifically the walk up area - is a bit chaotic as other reviews have written. We went early enough so there was no line and only 1 ahead of us. However by the time we came left there was congestion roaming around the porch area and we had to weave through to get out and off the porch. If there is a way to keep those that have ordered from hovering around - that would be a big help. I'm looking forward to go back again soon! read more

We had a lovely lunch here! We are visiting from a landlocked state and we were so excited to have fresh local seafood. We heard great things about this place and decided to give it a try. My husband and I split the Gaetano's Lobstah Roll with double meat. I love lobster rolls and this definitely hit the spot. I wish it would have been a little saltier and butterier. There are all sorts of other things you can order that look great too. The atmosphere is great, with a wraparound porch you can eat at. Visiting from New York for our annual friend trip, we hit up Iggy's after a beach day around 5:30 PM. The line wrapped all around the building, and you can instantly tell this spot has a massive, loyal OG following. Unfortunately, the crowd control was chaotic and felt a bit like a fire hazard--having a greeter or coordinator out front would help immensely. Inside, the vibe was a bit dated and unorganized. The Food: The Good: Great combo deals and convenient boxes. My friends enjoyed the chicken parm, shrimp fritters, and the fish looked amazing (I definitely should have ordered that instead!). The Miss: As a first-timer trying a Rhode Island lobster roll, I was pretty disappointed. It was dry, lacked butter, and the bread was slightly burnt. The Vibe: The place is heavily run by youth staff (complete with strict whiteboard rules!). Instead of just policing them, management should put their energy to work out front as greeters, handling menus, or running social media. It has tons of nostalgic charm, but feels like it's lost its touch. I'd give it a second chance next time I'm in RI--I'll just be skipping the lobster roll! read more

Iggy's is a Rhode Island staple that seems to have expanded every time I visit. It's like a little mini city now with an organized parking lot, seating areas, & ordering system. I gotta give them major props for having a "gluten free bun" on the menu so that I can enjoy a lobster roll. That being said, she's pretty sad in comparison to the regular bun. It's a bit smaller & turns the lobster roll into a lobster sandwich. The wait was also quite long on an off time on a weekday - a bit surprising. There were very few people there at the time. First night in RI for our family vacation, and we were eager to order takeout for 15 (10 adults and five children) after driving from NYS. Three dozen Clam Cakes --great texture, fried perfectly but needed more clam bits Three orders of Fish Fry --very large pieces of battered cod, fries and small coleslaw Four Fish Fry Sandwiches One Fried Shrimp One Baked Haddock dinner --excellent Kudos: Compostible cardboard is used for dinners and sandwiches. Iggys is a go to that never disappoints. We got the clam chowder and lobster roll. The lobster roll had a lot of meat in it and is the most reasonably priced we've been able to find. Line on a weekend is very long, so prepare to wait. There is ample seating inside and some seating outside. We usually frequent the iggys in Warwick which has better views so the bar is high, but the food quality and vibe are similarly great. read more

Iggy's is a summer, seafood institution for anyone that lives or is visiting Narragansett. Years ago, this was an authentic clam shack close to the beach with only outdoor seating and long lines in the warm weather. Iggy's now offers indoor seating, a covered deck and the traditional outdoor seating with picnic tables. We got the fisherman's platter to share for two of us and felt it hit all the variety we wanted and left not feeling disgusting from eating too much fried food. Service is what you would expect for a business staffed mostly by high school and college students. The bay scallops were seasoned well and lightly sweet. So many reviews we had to stop and try. We ordered the chowder seafood platter, and of course, a dozen of the doughboys! The doughboys are fried donuts, freshly made and will definitely stop for these babies again! The service was good. The ambience was very casual. Iggy's is truly a Rhode Island Institution. If you are visiting Rhode Island, it really should be on your to-do list. Known for chowder, clamcakes, and doughboys, it is a great spot to get a taste of Rhode Island. If you are not familiar with clam chowder, this is the place to go to get an idea and try it out! That being said, maybe it's because I'm an RI native and have had MANY, MANY, MANY restaurant chowders and homemade chowders, but I have definitely had better chowder. I feel like this change for me where I'm not as impressed with Iggy's has been in more recent years. Maybe the restaurant has had to make changes to ingredients or something? The clamcakes are really delicious though and you get big chunks of clams in them. If seafood isn't your thing, they do have various sandwiches, burgers, chicken tenders, salads, etc. They also have shakes, ice cream, and some sweet options. There is outdoor and indoor seating at the Narragansett location. It is a beautiful building and a big change from the original shack on the beach, but they needed it because of the growing popularity. You order at a window and I noticed that they now have self serve ordering kiosks. You can also order online. Staff is friendly, but they move quick because they deal with long lines. read more

Hello, the lobster roll was TERRIBLE, couldn't eat more then a couple bites!!!!! The lobster meat was old and chewy, and there was pieces of shell in it making it un eatable . I don't nowhere to begin. They literally took a tiny slice of chicken cutlet and threw it on bread with some sauce and cheese. To add insult to injury they charge nine dollars for it and it's just the sandwich alone!! I will say that the donuts were good and so was the lemonade. Horrible experience. My wife and I have been loyalty members for years. We just went to Iggy's Narragansett and ordered clam cakes and chowder. We waited forever for such a simple order. It was a 35 minute wait. When we got our food the clamcakes were warm but our chowders were stone cold. My wife was really upset. I took them back to the window and asked an older woman if we could get some warm chowder. She gave me a really strange look and told me she wouldn't be able to do that. i questioned why and she refused to answer and walked away. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had. There are several Iggy's locations in RI and it was a nice Sunday so I took a ride to the Narragansett Iggy's to be by the water. They were open for indoor seating but you have to order outside. They had a decent line outside but service was quick with a short wait. They had a fireplace lit inside with the tv on. It was a very cute restaurant. I ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich with lettuce and mayo. It was on a thick sub roll. The mozzarella sticks cheese was hard and cold but the onion rings were fine. The chowder was creamy and the clam cakes were good but could use some more clams in them. The clam strip dinner came with a side of fries, coleslaw, and a lemon with a large portion. The fish n chips were also a good sized portion, next time I will ask to make it crispier. The seafood and portions overall were good. While visiting my son at URI, he asked if we could go to Iggy's for fish and chips. He heard from his friends that they were delicious. We dined in. The wait wasn't that bad. Both of my sons ordered the fish and chips and were very happy. The fish was fresh and the coating crunchy and light. I tried some of their meal and it was delicious. The fries unfortunately were a bit soggy and the coleslaw did not have much flavor. We all have the clam chowder and it was very tasty and quite hearty. I really enjoy Iggies, especially their restaurant in Warwick. This location happens to be the takeout restaurant near the beaches. My personal opinion is, they should probably have a window strictly for the chowder and clam cakes as the majority of folks who placed their orders come for those two things which are very good. I would definitely like to try their lobster roll next time. I had the white chowder, which is my preference, but they do also offer clear and red, which some call Manhattan chowder. The white chowder and the clam cakes were great with plenty of clams and the clam cakes freshly made. Just plan on standing around for quite a few minutes if you come here. I like the food and chowder a lot. This clam shack is open year-round, giving us our fried-food fix when the others are closed for the winter, as well as in in the summer. A nice warm fireplace provides a cozy place to have a cup of chowder, a seafood entree (even food for those not eating fish). One minor gripe is their recently switching to everything al-la-carte. It does make meals a bit more expensive but its quite good. I don't compare clam shacks quite on the same scale as higher-end restaurants as the menues are limited to mostly all fried food, They serve "fast food" markets more than sit-down dinners and as such, don't serve more complicated, creative or baked dishes. read more

Had been going to Iggy's for 30+ years. Went this past Sunday and could not have been more disappointed. Ordered a " Chicken Cutlet " sandwich for $9.99, which seemed reasonable until it came out as 2 chicken fingers on a stale roll. Even worse, there was hardly any chicken in the chicken fingers, mostly over fried batter! As you can see in the attached pic, this is not a chicken cutlet sandwich. While the line to order at 4 p.m. was only 4 deep, it took 25 minutes to get my disgusting sandwich. Sorry, never again! read more

Ok... There are places in Rhode Island that are total tourist traps! They are on every list, you wait in line for over priced food. In the end you think to yourself - meh! That was overpriced and overhyped! THAT'S NOT IGGY's I had the chowder and cakes - my go to judgement meal. The 'bowl' was one of the largest servings I've had anywhere in RI. One of my pet peeves is when a soup is labeled a chowder, but lacks a thick consistency. Not here my friend... literally perfect texture! The only complaint about the clam cakes is that I didn't order more of them. THE DOUGH BOYS!!! Dear...
