Salty's Burgers & Seafood - The back side of the restaurant

We were in the area today watching the boats come and go in the channel and decided to grab a quick…read morebite at Salty's. We were very impressed the quality of the food. The person in front of us ordered a lobster roll, which he said was delicious. It had huge chunks of lobster, and my wife, who doesn't like seafood said she'd be tempted to try one. I ordered a cheeseburger, which was cooked to perfection and had a nice meaty flavor. My wife ordered a hot dog, which is kind of hard to go wrong with, but she said it was very flavorful, and my son got a cheeseburger as well and said it was very good. Ordering is at a window outside, and they call your name when your food is ready. They also offer ordering via their website for pick up. The restaurant is located at salty Brine State Beach, which is a large, sandy beach that's sheltered by rough water because of huge jetty's out in the water. If you come to the beach for the day, you can grab a quick bite when you're hungry, some ice cream when you want a snack and drinks throughout the day to keep you hydrated in the hot weather. Next to the order window are several metal tables on a large wooden deck in the open sunshine. If you'd rather sit in the shade, there's a large covered picnic area with picnic tables that overlook the channel. There's also an open area where you can setup you own chair and watch the boats in the channel. Because the restaurant is located at a state park, state workers are always coming by and sweeping, cleaning the tables and keeping the place in tip top shape. Also, because they don't want any trash ending up on the beach, there are no garbage cans nearby, and you have to bring it back to the ordering window for the staff to throw out. If you want the cheapest burger available, this isn't the place to go, but if you want a burger (or other food) that's prepared fresh, with prices similar to what you'd pay at a higher end fast food burger place, Salty's is worth a visit. The restaurant is open daily, 9AM to 5PM, closed on rainy days.

My dining partners had the fish sandwich (which I tried and will definitely make a trip back to order one for myself) and the other had a hot dog. That too was excellent! With the Fish and Chips came chowder and I chose my favorite - Rhode Island. That too did not disappoint. The flavor and portion were perfect. The staff is primarily young and energetic. Some may not like the easy going atmosphere but I enjoyed it. Their enthusiasm added to the upbeat vibe. I never saw one of them not working. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star is the fact the ordering process - specifically the walk up area - is a bit chaotic as other reviews have written. We went early enough so there was no line and only 1 ahead of us. However by the time we came left there was congestion roaming around the porch area and we had to weave through to get out and off the porch. If there is a way to keep those that have ordered from hovering around - that would be a big help. I'm looking forward to go back again soon!

We heard great things about this place and decided to give it a try. My husband and I split the Gaetano's Lobstah Roll with double meat. I love lobster rolls and this definitely hit the spot. I wish it would have been a little saltier and butterier. There are all sorts of other things you can order that look great too. The atmosphere is great, with a wraparound porch you can eat at. We ordered through the kiosk so we didn't interact with the staff, but you can order with a person at the window. Check them out!

Two liked the Raw Oysters and Little Neck Clams served with three sauces: vinegar based, cocktail, and hot sauce. Three of us ordered locally caught baked Flounder. Very large piece of fresh harvested fish were succulent. Whole filleted fish? One ordered the Scallops. The large scallops are cooked perfectly and flavorful. A few days later, I ordered the Scallops at Champlins! Delicious My grandson ordered the grilled swordfish which I considered ordering. He wanted me to try a piece since it was perfectly cooked. It was not dry at all. My daughter had the broiled sea scallops, her favorite. We keep coming here because they serve great quality seafood that is prepared skillfully. Ambiance: Eating seafood seaside can not be beat. Champlain's is located in the scenic fishing village of Galilee in Narragansett, RI. You can watch the commercial fishing boats and the Block Island Ferry enter the port from the wrap a round windows on the enclosed deck. Prices are low to moderate.

You can sit there and watch the fishing boats come in knowing that seafood is about to end up on your table. It doesn't get more authentic than that. The calamari is cooked perfectly and so good. The littlenecks and steamers are my absolute favorite, I honestly have never had better. Everything tastes insanely fresh. The staff is what really makes it special. Some people have been working there for decades and it feels more like a family than a restaurant. Their bartender Kerri has won awards just for being herself, and once you meet her, you'll get it. It wouldn't feel like a real Rhode Island visit without stopping here. Champlin's is just one of those places you keep coming back to.
