Brand new dessert spot in WC. We stopped by last Saturday and apparently everyone has seen the same article and reels on IG about this place because it was BUSY. Being new, they also haven't worked out all the kinks and they moved pretty slowly through the line, but the milky flakes were delicious! I would definitely go back for more. I got the mango milky flakes and the textures were great and it wasn't too sweet. Mangoes were nice and sweet. My kiddos had the soft scoops and they loved it.

Half Hokkaido milk + half matcha soft serve

PROS: 1. Delicious soft serve. That Hokkaido milk flavor was creamy and the texture was on point. Even though the matcha was lighter in color, it was strong in flavor. 2. Servers were friendly despite the long line and hot temperatures. They offered samples for ice cream and soft serve. 3. Convenient location in downtown Walnut Creek so you can easily make a stop for dessert after grabbing a bite or shopping. There are plenty of parking garages nearby if you can't find street parking. CONS: 1. I wish they offered a soft serve swirl of two flavors, but I suppose the half & half option will suffice for now. I'm wondering if they'll introduce more flavors in the future or perhaps rotate in some new ones? 2. Portion size could have been a smidgen bigger for the price. This is on the smaller end of soft serve sizes that I've experienced, but bonus points for the waffle cookie that's included. It tastes so yummy that you simply wish there was more! OVERALL: Heck yeah I'd return. It absolutely hit the spot on a hot day and even though the line went out the door, it went by quick enough (estimate less than 10 min). So happy this place exists, would definitely recommend!

I'd been curious to try this spot because there's always such a long line! After finally giving it a try, I'd say it was pretty good, but not necessarily worth the wait for me. I'd give the dessert I tried a 7/10. It was good, but not something I'd go out of my way to get, especially with the lines being so long. Service was okay too, maybe it felt a little impatient because of how busy and packed it was. The ambience is also pretty packed, with not much space inside. Overall, still a nice spot to check out if you're in the mood to try something different!

Another addition to the already bustling downtown Walnut Creek, and it was absolutely worth the hype! I've been three times already and have loved each visit. Even though their name is after a dessert option they have (the milky flakes), I've only had their soft scoops and sampled the soft serve thus far. Each soft scoop comes with toppings, and they are all so good. The texture is soft and creamy, almost like a soft serve gelato hybrid! A large ($8.90) is great to share between two people as you can get up to 3 flavors, but a regular ($7.50) also works to enjoy alone for up to 2 flavors. RECS: + Greek yogurt was deliciously tart! + Strawberry was soo fresh and perfect + Mango was also very fresh, different fruity vibe than strawberry + Salted caramel took me by surprise, it had a nice balance between salty and sweet!

This is a clear favorite amongst the Walnut creek local crowd lately. The lines are always out the door. I tried the pistachio soft serve. It taste a real pistachio and it's not too sweet or chalky in taste. The texture is also very smooth. It definitely feels very satisfying overall. I would 100% recommend checking this spot out if you haven't tried it. The only negative I would say is that the portion sizes are a little small for the amount you're paying. But it makes up in quality

Stopped by in a Saturday around 11 and there wasn't a crazy amount of people or a line. There's no indoor seating and the restroom is for employees only. As you walk in, you'll see the many containers of ice cream being mixed around to keep it soft. You can sample the ice cream, just ask. I tasted the ube and thought it was ok. But I opted for the peanut butter and it was yum. I topped it with strawberries and a flat wafer was put into the cup. You only get to pick 1 topping. The place is bright and inviting. Just wish there was someplace to sit inside. There's a few chairs and tiny tables outside of the store. I thought the ice cream was good, but don't think I'd stand in a long line for it.

Very cool and experience first time to try Milky Flakes. Yes they have flakes made out of milk. It's a unique topping. I had the mango large $10 very pricy but totally worth it . The mango's were superior in quality . The shop is on a corner and is in walkable restaurant and dessert district in DT WALNUT CREEK. I parked in The Ross parking lot which is free for 2 hrs. Only like 3 block walk. I didn't want to use the meters every time I'm in the NUT. Service is great. Inside is very small . I can imagine how packed it gets during peak times. Being located on a corner this place should do well in a competitive downtown where every shop wants your dollar. The freshness combined with the cold temperature of the mango flavored flake desert was unforgettable. The taste was so refreshing and delicious. I definitely recommend this place .

Milky Flakes Walnut Creek must be the ice cream snowy shaved ice boba capital of NorCal. One on each corner, delightful choices abound! Yet another creative take on snowy shaved ice & gelato and soft serve Hokkaido milk Shaved Milk Snow: we tried mango and strawberry very light, ribbon-like frozen milk flakes inspired by bingsu, layered with condensed milk, house syrups. Similar to Bingsu (Bingsoo) Korean shaved ice Hokkaido Soft Serve: Rich, ultra-creamy soft serve flavors (like matcha, pistachio, and salted caramel) churned with smooth texture Gelato: Smooth, strawberry Greek yogurt I added fresh strawberries Refreshing lite after dinner stop., great service once you get to the front of the line. Gives you time for good conversation and making selections... shaved ice Hokkaido soft serve or gelato. Continuously long line on a Thursday!

Tried this place out on a hot day in Walnut Creek thinking it would hit the spot but it was just okay. I opted out of the mango milky flakes because another reviewer had said that it was not good and the mango was sour. So when I went, I decided to just get the matcha soft serve since I didn't have my matcha fix for the day yet. There isn't really a large area for seating indoors so you'll have to enjoy it outside. It wasn't anything special, but its a cool place to come to for dessert. Just don't expect anything crazy.

Finally got to try this place out after seeing it all over social media and I'd have to say it was just okay. Came here for dessert after having an early dinner at Chubby Cattle in Pleasanton and while they do have a nice array of flavors that include Ube and Mango, the ice cream was just okay. Consistency was nice and fluffier than most other places. The added toppings sprinkled on top and waffle wafer are also a nice touch. With that said, Handel's is still probably my go to ice cream spot in WC unless you're only in the mood for Hokkaido soft serve. I tend to like ice cream that is a little richer in flavor. And when you factor in pricing, Handel's edges out in value.

I was out of the country so I'm late to the Milky Flakes party, but we stopped in this weekend to try out their new Walnut Creek location. The inside of the shop is butter yellow themed and I love that they stir the ice cream flavors and serve the ice cream with nuts or fruit. The service was friendly (although they could benefit from two people behind the counter) and our mango ice cream was amazing. It was like an incredibly creamy dole whip - yum! Overall, Milky Flakes is a fantastic addition to Walnut Creek and we are so excited they're here!

Came here on a Friday night and the line was out the door! For a reason though :) Food: Pretty amazing! I got the greek yogurt soft scoop and it was so good!! The honey and nuts paired so well with it. The consistency was chef's kiss! My partner's mom got the salted caramel flavor and I'm not a huge fan of salted caramel but she said it was good! My partner got the mango milk flake and it reminded me of bingsoo! I enjoyed the crushed graham crackers layered in it because it paired SO well with it! Service: Great service! The lady helping us out was so kind and had such a positive attitude! We waited a while for the milky flakes. I finished my scoop and waited a while before my partner got his order. I do understand it's soft opening so stuff happens! Overall, everyone was so nice :) Ambiance: Cute! Very yellow and florally aesthetic inside. Pretty small inside so we were pretty close to alot of strangers. Overall, it's a good place! Don't know if it's a place I would come back to, but if my friends wanted to visit it for a sweet treat, I wouldn't oppose to it!

Solid legit matcha soft serve, though a bit pricey at about 10 bucks a pop! They get busy especially during warmer weather, but the line moves fast. Yummy matcha soft serve or ice cream, the best in the area.

There were many to choose from, and I'm so glad I overheard the other customers ahead of us saying that the vanilla salted almond toffee flavor was what they are known for. We ended up getting that flavor as one of our two. For our second flavor of two scoops, we ended up getting the marshmallow neapolitan. -Vanilla salted almond toffee: I can see what the other customers meant for "this is what they're known for." I love that the almond is candied/carmelized with toffee. It gives it a roasty flavor, which gives the flavor so much depth. The almond also gives a bit of crunch/texture, which makes this flavor so unique. -Marshmallow neapolitan: I'm not typically someone who likes marshmallows or goes for neapolitan, as I don't like super sweet and I don't like mixing flavors. You can definitely taste all 3 flavors--vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. The marshmallow doesn't make the ice cream as sweet as I would have thought, it really just adds the marshmallow texture. The ice cream is very thick and creamy. It doesn't melt too fast to meld all the flavors together (which I don't really like), and I really appreciate that the ice cream holds together so well! The gentleman helping us was very patient in letting us try several flavors. The shop had a more old time feel. There is a bench to sit on to eat for a bit, but no tables. Overall, I would totally come back to try their unique flavors!

But, my boss orders us food from Fenton's via Doordash to be delivered to our Oakland office from time to time. Last several times in a row, it's been pretty dang bad, (the potato chips always taste fishy!) but today (8/5/26) it was literally garbage. We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this. Sad.
