I am disappointed that I encouraged my company to hire The Taco Guy Catering for our employee/family picnic. If you look at my review from earlier this year, they were fantastic! So I took the chance to hire them again for a 200+ person event. They were to arrive at the park one hour before serving time. Serving was from 10:30-12:30! There were a lot of people there and things going on that I did not realize that the Taco Guys were not at the event until 10:30. I called the # immediately. No answer, left a message. I called back in 10 minutes and someone named Fernando answered. When I told him no-one was there, you could tell he had no clue. He put me on hold for over 5 mins and then got back on the line to tell me they were "on their way"! We had 185 people there waiting for food and it wasn't even being prepared for them! A gentleman arrived, very nice, and started setting up. He was alone trying to put his grill and tables up and start cooking food! He had gotten the call that morning (when I was on hold) to come and serve us!! He started cooking the meat at 11:30!! Another man arrived and set up another grill. And we started serving after 12. The picnic was scheduled to end at 1pm. Imagine the # of people we had lining up HUNGRY and these poor guys trying to cook the meat, serve the tacos, serve the beans and rice, etc. We saw it was taking too long, so myself and 3 other guests started helping serve and even one guest started helping at the grill! I had multiple conversations with this "Fernando". He had no resolutions for me. He would not admit any wrong doing. Just gave the excuse that the original people with our reservation drove to Canoga Park!! Our event was in S Pasadena. Let's talk about the food! The meats were flavorless. Was it the gentleman who came to save the days fault? No! They probably went and picked up meat, had no time to marinate it, season it, etc and then rushed the cooking! We were offered a 3rd side or "special" when we booked and they picked up some zucchini vegetable casserole that again.... Cold, flavorless and worthless!! I asked this "manager" to speak to the owner. He would not oblige. He told me that he would call me on Monday. We were charged $1980 for this event and because I insisted, he discounted it by $200. The discount was not enough. And it was not the point. Our picnic was a great success except for the food! The FOOD is a huge point and we made the decision to hire someone so everyone could enjoy! The fact that they didn't come, arrived 1.5 hours late with only 1 person, with flavorless food and then myself plus other guests becoming servers as well? Ridiculous! Why did we even bother to hire someone and spend that money. Now, ask me if the owner ever called....... He did not!!! Never Again will I recommend this company and I pray if you hire them, you get the experience I had in the past! Not this fiasco. read more

A family member previously used this business for an event. While the food was passable, the meat was excessively greasy, and both the rice and beans were served cold due to the company not providing proper food warmers during catering. Despite the mediocre quality, I decided to consider them for an upcoming event purely out of convenience and my own lack of time to research other vendors. Their reservation process is entirely online, which I followed by submitting multiple requests. However, no one ever contacted me to confirm. I eventually had to follow up myself and was repeatedly connected with an employee named Fernando. Unfortunately, Fernando -- who claims to be a supervisor -- was consistently rude and dismissive. Though he speaks in a calm tone, his demeanor is noticeably sarcastic and unprofessional. He gave the impression that he had no interest in helping or resolving any issues. After submitting a reservation well in advance, I was later told the date was unavailable, despite others at the company informing me that it was, in fact, open. To make matters worse, the pricing listed online does not match what you're ultimately charged. There are undisclosed fees based on your payment method, and you're unlikely to receive a detailed receipt unless you specifically request one -- and even that may come with an added charge. I sincerely hope the owner, Sergio, reads this review and considers taking appropriate action to improve the company's customer service and transparency. In particular, I recommend re-evaluating Fernando's role in handling client communications, as his approach does not reflect the standards expected from someone in a supervisory position. read more

This company has been so responsive since the very first time I emailed them to request a quote! I cannot tell you what peace of mind that gave me and planning my husband's birthday party. They are so amazing! Benito arrived early and had the food ready at five minutes before the start time for dinner. He was amazing! He was friendly and greeted all the guests. At the end of the evening he carefully packed up all of the food that was left and brought it inside. All of my guests were super impressed with the food! (The Pastor and Carnitas were my personal favorites). All of the food was excellent and the ingredients tasted fresh. The meat they had was seriously the best meat that I've had from a taco stand in a long time. I went with the traditional five meats, and paid extra and got Carnitas and jumbo lime shrimp. The price was great and the quality was even better! I will definitely be using them again anytime I need a catering. This was for my husband's birthday party and we had about 45 guests and I had tons of food left over and everybody ate a lot at the party. read more

My family and I really loved the food. Everything was very delicious. They were able to provide everything that we needed. We had Asada, Pollo, Al Pastor, Chorizo, and Barbacoa and everyone loved it all. The aguas frescas (Horchata and Jamaica) were so good. They also included all the sides, rice and beans, tortillas, quesadillas, utensils, and salsas. I could not be more happy with their service and the great prices on their catering packages. We engaged them for a corporate event with clear instructions to serve only employees with tickets, considering the presence of customers, vendors, and other non-employees at our business premises. Unfortunately, they disregarded our directives and served individuals without tickets, leading to food shortages within the first 30 minutes of service. Despite our clear communication via email and with the serving staff, the staff and manager failed to acknowledge their mistake and instead engaged in arguments with our event coordinator. Their dismissive and condescending attitude only exacerbated the situation. I strongly advise against using this catering company. Their lack of regard for customer satisfaction and unwillingness to resolve issues reflect poorly on their professionalism. We used The Taco Guy Catering for a staff event and it was honestly one of the easiest catering experiences I've ever had. David was amazing. From the moment he arrived, I knew we were in good hands. He handled everything from setup to cleanup, and I didn't have to worry about a single thing all afternoon. Our chef, Benito, was wonderful! He arrived extra early and helped us move some of our patio furniture to give him move room for his cooking/serving area (my husband is in a wheelchair). Benito was super friendly and after setting up, got right to cooking our asada and pollo. We had a small group - fewer than 25, so there was a ton of leftover rice, beans, three salsas, grilled onions and jalapenos, limes, tortillas, and meats. Everything was delicious, and Benito was an attentive, friendly, and professional chef. At the end of our time, Benito packaged all of the extra food up (we had Dollar Store microwave/freezer containers ready for him.) We had a difficult time trying to find a local taco caterer for only 20 people, so we really appreciated finding the Taco Guy who came from Pasadena out to Rancho Cucamonga! read more

So freaking good. the taco guy catering had great food and amazing service! he was fast and so helpful. The food was wonderful and the selections on their menu were exactly what we were looking for. We did a lot of searching to find the perfect caterer for the event and are so glad we discovered them. Not only were they fantastic and the event itself, but the communication leading up to the event was very prompt and attentive.
