I gave them number 90 people to feed and maybe only 80 showed up so there should have been enough food. The quality of tacos and service were amazing! Unfortunately, it was communicated that we would have unlimited tacos and for my party, they ran out after about 2 hours. I had them booked for 3 hours, so some of my guests weren't able to get any or didn't get chance to have seconds. Maybe I should have checked-in prior to make sure they would stick to word of unlimited tacos. Cancelled an event in advance and he refused to refund my deposit of $60. Claimed that was his payment for scheduling my event because he doesn't work for free. He did zero work at all! Beware he is a scam artist. Now I have to spend time at small claims trying to get back a deposit for an event that was cancelled in advance with no work done. No notes on his invoice about deposit being non- refundable so beware. Then he attempts to attack me on why I cancelled a week in advance - very sad and I am sure he has no clue who he is dealing with. BUYERS BEWARE OF BOOKING WITH THIS BUSINESS: It is with great sadness that I have to leave this review. On Jan. 18, 2022, I reached out to Marlon to book his services for my wedding, which will take place on Feb 2nd. As soon as I fired off my deposit of $100 at 4:54 pm that day, my wedding planners wrote me and said that they took care of a taco caterer. Ugh! I IMMEDIATELY emailed and texted Marlon back at 5:12 pm (18 MINUTES LATER) to let him know of my error and ask for my deposit back. 18 MINUTES. Marlon responded that he would need to touch base with accounting even though 1) He is clearly a small self-run business and 2) It was a Venmo payment and would have been simple to return. Please note that I NEVER RECEIVED A CONTRACT and that the entirety of my exchange with Marlon from booking to canceling was LESS THAN 20 minutes. Marlon does not have a cancellation policy or a contract that says that someone cannot cancel. I do not believe he even has a website. As well, when a NEW CUSTOMER cancels less than 15 mins after making a booking, one would think that any business owner would show some integrity and return the deposit. To be honest, in my 40 years of life planning parties and events for a living, I HAVE NEVER HAD A VENDOR BEHAVE THIS WAY. Weddings are incredibly stressful. I have followed up with Marlon repeatedly for days and today, 5 days later, Marlon has told me that he will NOT be retuning my money. He has also taken time to comment on my review with a ridiculous response that makes no sense at all and does not justify keeping a deposit for an event that was over 2 weeks away after the customer canceled in less than 20 minutes. Marlon, this is absolutely not how one should do business, especially in this economic climate--It is unethical and down right dirty. I am truly sorry that you feel the need to behave in this manner and will be happy to take down my review, once you decide to be ethical and return my money. read more

We did have an experience where the owner said he did not receive payment even after we received the zelle confirmation. The owner told me to wait to see if he received the money the next morning and that he would contact me. I was very worried when he did not reach out and I ended up calling to make sure everything was settled. He verified that everything was fine and reassured me the two young men would receive the tip we included. I put four stars (although I would give them 4.5 stars if I could on this app) because I think communication was important, but overall the company had good food and good service. Marlon Chavez catered my family's Christmas party at my home in Santa Clarita. I emailed about 7-8 caterers a few weeks ahead to get pricing and menus. I chose Los Chavez Tacos Catering as the best value (about middle of the pack price-wise, but great menu) and their Yelp reviews. Marlon showed up right on time for the contracted 1-hr setup and 2-hr service. As hosts, my wife and I set the menu for the potluck so we chose Mexican. When our guests arrived they were blown away that we had hired a taco caterer! Soon the aroma of grilling beef, chicken and pork filled our backyard and guests began lining up to get their made-to-order soft tacos and quesadillas. Included were self-serve toppings, pinto beans and Mexican rice. The food was absolutely delicious! Our family raved about it and thought it was so cool that we had brought in a taco chef for the party. At the end of the serving time, Marlon offered the remaining food to the guests and almost all the families filled up the take-out containers we provided so no food went to waste. I highly recommend Los Chavez Tacos for your next event but book early to make sure they're available on your party date.
