I have to join the chorus of people recommending you AVOID TacoMan. Their website looks so professional but unfortunately they are bait-and-switch advertisers & do not deliver what is promised. Like many others, they were quick communicators before the event, but upon receiving payment have completely ghosted and attempts to resolve issues have gone ignored. I'm so disappointed because I wanted to support a local business, but these guys are scammers. I booked pick up catering that was supposed to include 5 proteins, 2 of which i selected to be vegetarian and vegan for our guests (which I was excited about, they sounded great!), and a promo package that drew me to choose them that included free agua fresca, quesadillas, & chips. The invoice showed all the sides included & the promos & everything. My first indicator that something was amiss was that when i opted in to the free agua fresca promo, they replied to ask if i had my own container or if i wanted to purchase one for $100. I went ahead and found my own, paid the deposit & sent my partner to pick up on the day of the party. He gets there & is told there is no agua fresca because an employee.... took the rest home? Strange & disappointing but what can you do. He grabs the food which looks substantial & drives back across town. I open it to realize there's only 3 meat proteins. Entirely missing are our 2 vegetarian proteins, quesadillas, chips, any salsas, guac. Roughly 1/3 to half our order was entirely "forgotten". I call repeatedly and receive no response. Left a voicemail, nothing. We had to leave our own housewarming party to go get vegetarian protein for our friends. I sent an email to clarify what the heck happened and request a refund for the missing items. Which has, of course, gone ignored. I really wanted to assume it was an honest mistake or maybe we even received the wrong order. But I have yet to hear from TacoMan. I wish we had paid via CC so I could get a chargeback. All together we spend nearly $400 on some rice & beans and a few slices of onion + 3 small trays of taco meat, & frankly, a lot of false advertising. Do yourself a favor and go with literally anyone else. And if any of these other reviewers want to jump on a small claims case for goods and services not delivered, we should pursue it together. read more

We hired this taco catering company for a Teacher Appreciation luncheon at a middle school serving approximately 50 teachers and staff. We paid in full ahead of time and selected our protein options based on what was presented to us. When we asked about having carnitas, beef, and chicken, we were told that was fine. At no point during booking or payment was there any mention of an additional charge for carnitas. After the event was over, we were unexpectedly told there was an extra $300 charge for the carnitas. This was a complete surprise, as no one communicated any upcharge beforehand. Had we been informed in advance, we could have made an informed decision. Communication during the event was also extremely difficult because the cook sent to the school spoke no English, so we had to rely on Google Translate to communicate basic information. The most upsetting part of the experience was the way the situation was handled afterward. While I was offsite (the luncheon was for teachers only), I received a very aggressive phone call from someone named Maria stating that the cook could not leave until payment was made and threatening to call the police because the cook had supposedly been waiting for an hour. I apologized and explained that I had only just learned about the issue and needed to contact the person holding the school credit card in order to process the payment. Despite remaining calm and assuring her we would resolve it, the conversation continued in an unnecessarily hostile and threatening manner. What makes this especially disappointing is that I have used this company multiple times over the years and have referred them to others. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Sadly, as with other reviews, we paid for 50 people and they ran out of all three meats and two salsas, while only having a very little amount of rice and beans. We only had 37 guests come, 8 were children and 5 were vegan, so this should not have happened. As the host, I only saw about 5 guests take seconds, and two other guests arrived 20 mins before the end of our time and we could only offer them rice and beans, not even salsa. They also served a very small bowl of grilled onions and an equally small bowl of cilantro and onion along side a half tray of rice and beans. This was not our first rodeo with a taco caterer, and their set up was pathetic. In comparison, usually you are offered three meats, an array of salads and at least two aqua frescas. Unfortunately we will not use or recommend this company for any future parties as it is very embarrassing to run out of food when we paid almost a thousand dollars to serve 50 people at our daughters second birthday and baby sprinkle. This company is a scam and only brought enough to serve 25 people, or only 100 tacos. AND, their tortillas were store bought, not homemade as advertised because I saw the measly two bags of them on our grass as he warmed them on the grill next to the half filled, pre-cooked three quarter pans of meat. Only 37 people showed and we ran out of rice, beans, roasted jalapeños, and salsa before everyone had even been served. This is because they only provided 1/2 tray of rice and 1/2 tray of beans. We did not confirm with them in advance how much food they thought would serve 50 because that's what we were relying on their expertise for. I was mortified and rush ordered six pizzas. When I spoke to the manager during the event, I thought she'd say they made a mistake and there should've been full trays. Instead, she said that guests must have come back for seconds. Seriously? Luckily they showed up right before, but I really didn't appreciate the panic on that day. No one reached out after. We had to order enough meat for 90 people to cover 60 - I saw reviews that saw they ran out. Only reason I knew to do this was I asked how many tacos they served person. It was 4 and I wanted to make sure we got at least 6 person just in case since we did not want to runout out of food for our wedding guests. Then, when it was time to leave they started packing up all the left over meat to take with them. We had to go containers for this but they didn't ask. Luckily my mother in law asked them before they left and we got the food. But they were not intending to leave it. Also, their cell phone rang loudly during the ceremony, the guy answered and started talking during the ceremony as well. Wild. My mom had to run over and tell him to take the call somewhere else. About an hour and 20 minutes into the party, they had ran out of 2 of the 3 meats being offered. I was embarrassed that we did not have enough food. I asked the server and he advised that was the amount he was given, I expressed my disappointment to him and he called someone at the company. I have never worked with a company that sends the exact amount of food. No room for errors, I feel like a catering company should always have extra even if they have to charge more, I would have been happy to pay the extra amount if needed, but I do not think that they sent enough for the amount of people I paid for. We had them in June to cater a birthday party. I think it depends on who they have available to be your server because the person who came was not great. The communication throughout this ordering process was fantastic. They were quick to respond, answered my questions, and made everything easy. The tacos were decent and presentation as expected. The avocado salsa was worth the add on. And that's where the good ends. I have had taquizas before and never has a mess like this been left. There were 10 matches left in our rock path, three of them unlit (!!!), as well as grease on our driveway and on our river rocks. We just spent the last two weekends redoing this part of our driveway and to see our rocks grease stained really sucks. On top of this, our server wasn't particularly friendly. She also didn't unscrew the aqua frescas, I came over to get a drink (way after serving started) and did it myself. She may have needed help, but didn't ask. Additionally, the aqua fresca was so watered down, we dumped it all, as well as whatever the lime drink that was provided (?) I wouldn't have known it was lime if I hadn't seen them in the container. Truly the most disappointing aqua frescas I've had. I originally wasn't going to post this review. I provided this feedback directly to them and never received a response. Incredibly frustrated. First of all, the servers were AN HOUR AND A HALF LATE. When I spoke to my contact person, Andrea, she said she'd call and ask them about it. THEY DENIED IT. I had to call several guests to tell them we were running very late (including a friend who has type 1 diabetes; had to make sure to tell her to grab a snack.) I sent her three photos with time stamps (a call from them at 5:20 when they were supposed to be here at 5:00...they couldn't speak English, so they couldn't tell me exactly HOW late they were going to be; they just kept repeating "muy traffico, muy traffico"), a screenshot of me texting a guest that we weren't going to have food available until 6:45 or later, and a picture of one of them still clearly serving at 7:20 (supposed to be wrapped at 7) Stuff happens, I get it, but when they denied it I was furious. I had 19 guests but paid for 25; it was NEVER MENTIONED to me that each guest is estimated at only three small street tacos. That said, there was BARELY any meat left (even with only 3 tacos per guest that should mean 18 tacos' worth should have been left over.) ALSO, at least one of the two servers helped themselves to a plate; normally I'm happy to share but after paying $466, having them run 90 MINUTES LATE, then deny that happened is beyond unprofessional. I've texted and emailed Andrea several times and asked for a $50 refund (NOT credit) but she has ghosted me. I hired them for my daughters 2nd birthday in 2018 and they were amazing back then and the food was amazing. I made changes to my guest list because hey stuff happens people can't come and they were more than accommodating. Now the second time I hired them 3 years later was an awful experience. Their website clearly states that I have 3 days prior to the event to make changes to the guest count. I tried to make changes to my guest list 3 days prior and whoever I spoke to said I could not. They used Covid as an excuse as to why they couldn't take away the 20 guests that I accounted for a way. I stated what their website said but that didn't matter apparently. Covid is also the reason why I had to change my guest list count. The lady told me it was 4 days now. Seriously, wtf change your website then or at least tell me during the first few email and call exchanges we had. The food was extremely dry and salty (food was amazing years ago). Don't get the horchata it was awful. We had three people working and one of them was so incredibly rude. Toward the end of the party they still had 30 minutes but were rushing to leave. My husband and I were clearly getting ready to sing happy birthday to our daughter with the cake and our guests and that's when they decide to interrupt us to get paid so they can leave. The good. 1)The salsas were great and the jalapeños were spicy. The not so good. 1)The "cooks," two young men, were not wearing a uniform. Not "custom chef coats, well trimmed and professional" as promised online. The young guys were poorly dressed and looked like they had rolled out of bed. Hair undone, tattoos showing. 2)The catering service says "with COVID 19, we have taken extra steps beyond the guidelines set." Far from. The "cooks" wore gloves with holes in them and I repeatedly saw the guys on their phones. Nothing sanitary about this. 3)The quality of meat is very poor. A bunch of ground meat niblets sold as asada, chicken, and pastor. 4)Toppings were poorly cut, large pieces of onion and leaves of cilantro. 5)The "cooks" ate while working. 6)Online service says catering may need a table. It would be nice if company provided their own table. This catering service is not worth the price and I'm shocked at the lack of professionalism and sanitary standards. Incredible experience with My Taco Man! Freddy was the absolute best. I found them via Yelp and was impressed with their quickness in responding. The communication is A1. We had them cater a small birthday party of 20 people at a private home and they showed up early to set up. Food was ready by the time we were expecting and we were spoiled by 5 meat options and a full salsa bar. Rarely is the food the true hit of the party, but everyone was blown away and had seconds and thirds. At the end, they cooked and put all the leftovers in trays for us and cleaned up swiftly. He decides to invite the group of men who dropped him off and I saw them take multiple plates for themselves. These men were not servers, and did nothing to assist the actual worker. They waited outside until the worker called them in to take food. We are a humble family and usually we do welcome outside guest however, the worker did not ask. We only had 30 guest and by the end of the night, there was food for 8 people left. The lack of communication from the server and unprofessional approach made this a bitter experience.
