Our family stopped here for lunch on our drive through the area, just happened upon this place. Staff were gracious and kind, food was prepared quickly and was very tasty. I was visiting a friend in Stamford and thought we would try TheTaco Project. I had heard about it but never ate there. I ordered the Vegie burrito. I must say it was excellent. My friend ordered the fish taco. I have never seen anything so pathetic as these tacos. First the shells were so soggy and, at best, there was maybe a small bite of fish on each taco. You certainly had to look for it. They were the most unappetizing tacos I have ever seen. I suggest that if you happen to try this restaurant, stay away from the tacos!! read more

Food was great but a little pricey. The menu board on the wall was hard to read. Paper menus by the door would be helpful. Didn't realize they brought the food to the table. That was a nice surprise but if I had known when I paid I probably would've left a bigger tip. Also disappointed in the plastic utensils and cups - you're already washing the plates and alcoholic beverage glasses why not have real utensils and cups and not add to the landfills? The chicken quesadilla and chicken burrito bowl were delicious. Guacamole was also great but expensive at $10 a pop. Sweet plantains were on special but would be a great addition to the regular menu. I'll start with not everyone has the same expectations, my first and second experience was great! I ordered a takeout for my family and enjoyed the special for the week/month (tacos al pastor). The blueberry and coconut margarita was delicious (just not so much the toasted coconuts added). It was so refreshing and perfectly balanced. The second was a catering order for the office I work for. Everyone was very pleased. The sautéed fish, the chicken and beef were a big hit, not to mention all the different toppings! For those that gave a terrible review, sorry you had that experience. ALL NEW Restaurants in the beginning have to work out the employee and timely issues. I am a huge fan of Mexican food and have long lamented the lack of a comfy local Mexican restaurant in Stamford to both eat in and order out. I tried Taco Project today. I ordered my food to go and a margarita while I waited. The service was amazing. My server, Winglis talked me through the surprising varieties of margaritas and other menu items. I sat comfortably in the impeccably clean and soothing atmosphere while I waited for my order. The marg was as good as anything I've ordered in NYC for a fraction of the price. Winglis and her colleagues were attentive in spite of the growing crowd. Everything I ordered was amazing, even once I got it home. I can't recommend this place enough, especially with Winglis at the helm. What a charming and excellent hostess and server. Planning to be a regular! read more

Great food and drinks. We loved the classic margarita and the burritos. The sangria and the sidewinder fries were both good, but not necessarily standouts. Outdoor seating is serviceable but not as nice as the Yonkers location. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff! read more

I rarely give reviews, mostly because since covid I hardly go out to eat, however, tried this place today for Mother's Day and HAD to write a review. Dined in with my Mom and the food and service were amazing. We shared the steak and fish (cod) tacos - so delicious and the margaritas were yummy :) Nikki was so sweet, friendly, an attentive and the decor was so fun. Just loved this place and so excited for us to have a place like this in Stamford and right on High Ridge. I went on a fun date here the other day. The restaurant has a fun, modern atmosphere. While their cocktail menu isn't huge, it's the perfect size for the bar and all of their drinks were properly themed. Even the sodas are imported for the older taste you just don't get with American soda. Service was incredibly fast, which at first I was suspicious of. But I was pleasantly surprised that it only took about 12 minutes for some of the best tacos I've had! My only gripe is the price of the food, just a tad bit expensive for tacos in my opinion. read more

Fun decorating but way too loud to eat in house. Why do restauranteurs think people want a headache with their meal and not be able to talk with their companions while dining? A bit disorganized. Skimped on chips with guacamole that had no flavor. Taco bowl was okay but for the price was expecting more food. The food didn't leave me thirsty like Chipotle but wasn't as favorable as Ole Mole (which is the same price point) I wish them luck regardless but don't understand anyone who puts a third Mexican style restaurant within walking distance to two others. read more

Very disappointed in food picked up in Stamford. We live in the neighborhood and were hoping for a good take-out place nearby. Not to be. The Fish Taco was inedible! A sloppy mess that smelled as bad as it looked and went directly to the garbage. The Chicken Quesadilla was 4 pieces of which two were filled, one partial and one empty. The Steak Burrito Bowl was just okay and probably not worth $14.95. My advice is to do an unannounced quality check and see for yourself. I am sure that you want your Stamford customers to have a better experience than we had. read more

Nice stop close to the highway. Very Americanized Mexican food, so don't expect anything too spicy or authentic, but nonetheless it's really good. For example, the veggie burrito had some solid guacamole and featured ingredients like pickled red cabbage and street corn. Our order didn't take long to come out, and the place looked super clean and cute. There also were some good vegetarian options, too! You can probably skip the chips and salsa, though, since I thought the chips weren't the best texture and lacked salt. read more

I failed to do this, and arrived home only to find they had made an error in packing my order. Yes, it's "human error" that could have happened to anyone -- but no one at all apologized, and it took some time to correct this simple error -- making me think that perhaps a little training in "customer service" could be helpful, too. read more

What a mess. Ordered ahead and showed up 30 minutes later. Was told it would be at least another 10 minutes. Ended up waiting up to an hour after ordering, and still nothing. We are so thrilled to have the taco project just a few miles from our house and close to the Merritt parkway in Stamford CT! The food has been great every time and it's wonderful to bring young kids for a quick lunch or dinner. The blue corn waffles are a favorite with my grandkids. I always enjoy the avocado toast and the battered fish tacos. Was really excited to try, since the yonkers location is really good. The food was bland. The steak tacos were drowning in oil along with the plantains. The steak burritos had sour cream and cheese that tasted like it was expired. They stated it's because cotija cheese has a distinct flavor but our entire table has had cotija cheese multiple times and it should not taste like that. Do not recommend going here. read more
