Do not use. Ruined wedding. The suit quality, type, fabric, color, design, and presentation is not what I ordered/paid for or what was shown to me. I have the zoom call recorded and can confirm none of these were what I agreed on nor did you send a confirmation of choices. The fabric is 2 different types from top and bottom. The color is 2 completely different colors from the top and bottom. My pants are see through. You can completely see through them and the outlines of the pockets in both the front and back. The color is way more cream/yellow than we discussed and what I was shown. The embroidery is backwards. It's supposed to say "forever & ever" when you open the jacket. It says "& ever forever" Made in China and not good products Not to mention they still have my 2500 suit, refuse to alter it and return or give refund.

The Tailory owner's response to our frustration over 4 months of being put through the ringer. Absolutely uncalled for.

Based on the five-star Yelp reviews, my wife and I tried The Tailory's virtual fitting services. We ended up at a loss of $2,000, with an unwearable suit that we donated to a nonprofit. The privacy risks, poor craftsmanship, slow turnaround, dishonest communication, and unprofessional conduct from the owner, all left a bad taste in our mouths. PRIVACY: 1/5 The Tailory website advertises that virtual fittings utilize a "state-of-the-art app" for which we'd be sent a "personalized login." We were shocked to discover that we could see the full names, measurements, emails, and photos of every client who had used the app for virtual fittings. This is a major privacy risk - consumers have a right to know this before entering into business. CRAFTSMANSHIP: 2/5 More details on the discrepancies are noted in the shared photos; in sum, the suit was so off base that we wondered whether my wife's order had been mixed up with someone else's. It seemed that they had completely ignored our initial written request and reference photos. EFFICIENCY: 1/5 Payment to first fitting: 9 weeks (Expectation, based on the website: 4-6 weeks+shipping) Payment to third fitting: 16 weeks We attributed this to a mistake The Tailory made with the rise on the pants, and the fact that they couldn't remake the pants in-house. (Suits are made at a factory in China, then shipped to NYC before being sent to consumer.) I'll repeat it because it's so absurd: It took four entire months for us to receive a pair of high-rise pants that we could finally begin real fittings on. COMMUNICATION: 1/5 The Tailory claims to provide an order confirmation with a breakdown of the garment details. We never received one. In fact, we received zero communication from The Tailory from the time we paid them in December to the moment we proactively reached out in February, curious about the status of things. From the first time my wife tried on the garment, she expressed to The Tailory her concerns about the suit. In response, and after each fitting, The Tailory claimed that alterations would be minimal and would be completed in a short time. In reality, as mentioned above, alterations were far from timely, and we felt like many of our alteration requests were falling through the cracks. This eroded our trust. PROFESSIONALISM: 0/5 All of the above might've been forgiven, were it not for the extreme lack of professionalism that followed. We gave The Tailory as many chances as we could afford, but with only 3 weeks to spare before our wedding and the garment still nowhere close to what we asked for, we'd reached a moment where, practically speaking, we had to find something else for my wife to wear. We explained this on the third fitting call. The associates present were apologetic. They wanted to try to make the final alterations in the time remaining, but because they'd been unable to honor previous timelines, we couldn't give them the benefit of the doubt one more time and risk having nothing to wear on the wedding day. We suggested two remedies that felt fair: that we either return the suit to them for a full refund, or we receive a partial refund to acknowledge that the delay resulted in us having to buy a second outfit. They agreed that, while they don't normally do refunds, this was an extenuating circumstance. They offered a partial refund and asked us to send them the receipts for the garments we were to purchase later that day. You can imagine our surprise when less than an hour later we received an email refusing this refund. We asked to jump on a call to get clarity, but they ghosted us. We followed up with an email timeline of events that confirmed our dissatisfaction throughout the process - they ignored this email as well. We sent a second email the next day, expressing that their conduct felt dishonest, and asked, is this really how they treat their paying customers? We received an email from Shao (owner) that you'll have to read to believe. Shao accused us of "verbally assaulting" the staff and "underlying hostility" that was anti-immigrant and anti-POC. (The irony: My wife and I are Black and Latinx. I'm the daughter of a Trinidadian immigrant; my wife is an immigrant from Brazil.) Shao's use of words like 'gaslighting' and 'verbal violence' were triggering for me as a domestic violence survivor, and were an entirely inappropriate response to what we believe was a completely warranted level of customer frustration. To add insult to injury, Shao suggested that our complaints were "a smokescreen for a friendly fraud attempt." This one is especially perplexing - what would we stand to gain from any of this? Two separate law firms advised that we probably had a case for small claims court, but we really wanted to put this experience behind us. We donated the suit to Dress for Success, bought an outfit through an online boutique that fit better off the rack than the suit from The Tailory, and had an amazingly magical wedding.

This was my third piece from the Tailory. My first was a wool suit in 2016 and then a jacket in 2022. At the end of October 2022, I reached out for another jacket for NYE. Delivered as promise and I absolutely this blazer. It is absolutely fantastic and I do not give out compliments readily. Prices aren't cheap (it was much cheaper in 2016) but you'll be hard pressed to find a custom place that tailors to women with the resources Shao has. Also-these comments that the clothing was made in China--I don't believe it because of my experience with the turn around and detail to my most recent jacket.

Having never owned a custom suit before, I was extremely nervous coming into my first appointment at The Tailory, but Silke and the whole team were incredibly supportive, informative, and helpful. When I got overwhelmed by the options, they suggested I came back for a second appointment before making any commitments or decisions -- something I deeply appreciated. They ended up making a custom suit and lace shirt for me to wear for my wedding, and I am thrilled with the final product. The team at The Tailory are incredible -- it makes me want to add more suits to my wardrobe!

I decided to update my work wardrobe with custom made, properly fitting suits once and for all. I looked on YELP and easily found Shao, owner and designer of The Tailory, who appears to be the only person in New York who caters to women without using male suiting models. In a few weeks, I will be wearing 8 new pieces of clothing, made just for me, in an array of British and Italian fabrics, with spectacular linings, pipings and specific bottons to go with each garment, at fair prices. Can't wait for my clothes to arrive and return to expand my beautiful new wardrobe! Feels grand!

Perfectly fitted suit on my boyfriend's athletic build.

My last shopping experience for my second suit, unfortunately, made me not want to return. My first experience was with Michael G several years ago. He was extremely nice and helpful, showing me options and explaining the differences in the fabrics and where they were made. The fitting experience was great. I felt good at the end, making a big purchase. Later, I called to get some fitted dress shirts, and they had all my information on file. I trusted Michael and had him ship them to me; I didn't even need to come in; it was a very premium experience. The second time I purchased a suit, the experience was exactly the opposite. The woman who helped me seemed uninterested. She really didn't want to help at all. Given her brash, unenthusiastic behavior, I was hoping to go through the process myself, so I asked if she could pull up the profile Michael had made for me. Turns out they only save the customer measurement details for a year now. Seems ridiculous to save money on basic data storage rather than keeping customer records to expedite and provide good service. When I was trying on the suit, I felt rushed, and she never made me feel confident, which is always appreciated when making a big-ticket purchase. She didn't show me options or explain anything beyond saying the old color I had was no longer available, and the one I was holding was the new version they carried. When I received the suit 2 weeks later, the alterations were sloppy as well. Loose threads and not packed well. You'd think it was a $200 means warehouse rental I received. Just got another suit this month and found out I can get a made-to-measure custom suit in Soho for 30% less! They lost a lifetime customer, as I have been buying suits from Nordstroms since I lived in Chicago starting in 2014.

Needless to say I wasn't impressed by this--you *never* call out an employee in front of customers as he was loudly doing. I wasn't the only one who found it unprofessional; there were at least three other customers in earshot and I heard one make a comment about it. The salesman helping me out was fine and attentive enough, but we were all cringing. Get it together, Nordstrom Men's Store!

Has three floors in total in which each floor caters to different categories like heattech + men's + women's + children apparel + graphic tees. There's even a Uniqlo coffee shop on the 2nd floor. A large fake Christmas tree is placed in the center when first walking inside through the entrance. Then, a huge red escalator of heading up and down to each floor is behind the tree. Additionally. everything's either being neatly organized or stacked on most of the shelves and inside drawers except for a couple of areas here and there. The price range is reasonable for most apparel items besides the thick puffer jackets + sweaters + graphic tees. Even though there seem to be signs for the fitting room and cashiers/self-checkout, it's still pretty confusing to walk around and find stuff imo because of how large the Uniqlo space is. I have to flag down and ask different staff about the whereabouts of cashiers as I'm paying with cash. There's a bit of a line for those paying by cash despite several 5-6 cashiers being present while no line at all for self-checkout (card only). No line for the fitting room though. Generally, staff is shown as helpful + amiable + patient in a professional manner towards customers. My favorite section is probably by the heattech area. There're 3 various heattech types of warmth for both adults and children. Of course you can wear whichever layer as you please at the end of the day. All the desired temperatures are simply suitable for preferred reference anyway. The Original (Mild Weather) - 5°C to 20°C or 41°F to 68°F Extra Warmth (Colder Days) - -5°C to 15°C or 23°F to 59°F Ultra Warm (Extreme Cold) - -20°C to 10°C or -4°F to 50°F I think The Original layer of heattech is already pretty warm for the 30s-40s temperature here in NYC. The fabric is the thinnest in material. Very comfy to wear without being too stuffy on the inside. I bought two long sleeved heattech pieces today ($19.90 each). They also come in different colors and styles that might be suited to the personal taste of each and every customer. I'm not sure if they have a restroom for the public, will have to search for it next time...
