Sent my husband for some to sample for our Christmas Eve tamales. We love 'em! Really good, moist tamales.

First, the service here is good. As soon as we walked through the door, someone said "Sit where you like." And, within about three minutes, someone stopped by the table to take our drink orders. I'm not sure what this place was previously, but it almost feels like a repurposed DQ. It is clean and not tight at all, but the space is limited. (Not good for groups.) Though they have a full bar, there are no beers on draft. Not a deal-breaker. The food here is good. I had a combo plate, and the enchiladas actually came with enchilada sauce. It was impressive, if only because I usually only get that at home. The bean and cheese tostada is exactly as it should be -- warm crispy shell and beans topped with cool lettuce and cold cheese (I asked them to omit the tomatoes). The crispy taco is fine in a Tex-Mex sort of way without the pool of grease that is so common with this dish. The rice is way too fluffy for my taste, and the charro beans basically looked like refried beans with some liquid added. Not impressed. I judge Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants on their salsa, first and foremost. This place serves it warmed, which I despise, but they brought me a cold cup of the red stuff upon my request. It was delicious. Tomatoey. Oniony. A little bite. And I'm pretty sure I tasted some cilantro. The price point here is fabulous, and they seem to have some outstanding lunch specials. If I lived or worked nearby, I could see this being a regular stop.

I ordered chorizo y huevo and was hoping for fresh homemade tortillas. I did order an extra egg on the side. The food came out pretty quick and there was a good amount of food and fresh homemade tortillas topped it off. I had a Mexican Coke and water along with my meal. The manager came out to check each table 3 times while we were eating which felt appreciated. Hope I can go back in the next few months.

Once drinks finally came out, my husband had to wait a few more for his beer. The decoration was nice, the women's dresses and head bands were beautiful. Once we ordered, the food came to our table one late at a time, with a few minutes in between. Again we had to ask husband's plate because it still hadn't arrived. My son ordered a large sweet tea. At one point, when he placed the glass back on the table it broke from a corner and leaked all over him. We quickly did our best to clean up. The bus boy asked if we were the ones who broke it. (As if it were intentional) another asked if my son had extra clothes in the car... his shirt and pants were soaked. No consolation or solution. We asked for another drink. At the end they charged us for two drinks, even the one that broke and leaked all over him. They could have at least offered to send him home with tea to go. When I asked the waitress about the extra drink, she looked at me and didn't say anything. This time around the food was not as amazing as I first recalled. Not going back

Instead, the food is sold just around the corner at Birrieria & Micheladas and it was absolutely worth it. The lamb barbacoa was very delicious, tasty, and perfectly moist. The goat birria tacos were also amazing and their fresh drinks are huge. After eating, we went back to the farm for a tour, which made the whole experience even better. Visiting both locations was totally worth it and made for a great, unique outing.

It looks like they just had the inside redone. It's small but very clean. We got the Pastor baked potato and quesabirria tacos with a Mexican coke and pink guava again Fresca. The potato was way bigger than I anticipated and SOOOO good! The birria tacos were excellent. There was only one waiter but for the size of the place he was the only one needed. He was very nice and let me taste the agua Fresca before deciding because I wasn't sure if I would like it. It was so good! I am already looking forward to going back. It's a small place, so it's not ideal for large gatherings and they're easy to miss. El Tostaco Regio does not serve typical Mexican cuisine. Their food is what you would find served on the streets of Mexico. So there's no refried beans, rice or a queso plate here. Most of their dishes comes with beans and a cup of broth. Their food is served fresh, but messy. Everything they make is packed with flavor, but not overpowered by spices. The tables have three complimentary sauces you can try with your dishes. If your other party is not in the mood for Mexican, El Tostaco Regio also have burgers and baked potatoes. Their menu is bilingual, thankfully. The staff are patient and kind. Prices are affordable. I will say that their AC system could've been better, considering we're in Summer now. They only have only bathroom. Aside from a TV playing Latino music, there's no decor inside at all. My major issue is that El Tostaco Regio is NOT wheelchair accessible. That's completely unacceptable!

We had a lovely time, and I was quickly reminded that this isn't jus one of the many TexMex spots it's the Houston area, but it's one of the better ones The restaurant is appealing and inviting from the outside. There's plenty of parking, a to-go station, covered patio seating, and plenty of seating inside The staff were great. We were greeted upon arrival and promptly sat at a table of our choosing. It wasn't completely packed, but much of the restaurant was full, yet we still had our pick of booth vs table vs bar etc We were provided complimentary chips and salsa. Both salsas are great, but the green one is creamy, packs a little heat, and is just delicious The menu offers pretty much all your signature TexMex meals from tacos, burritos, fajitas. Bowls, enchiladas, salads, soups, and many many more. There is a fully stocked bar with all sorts of beer and other drink options The food was terrific, and the display was exceptional. Everything was plated so well, and there were little touches here and there that showed they set they bar just a little higher Some tips: Join the Gringos TexMex insider club/reward loyalty program. You can earn points as you eat. You also get a bonus $25 added to your account when signing up I got the combo fajita tacos, which were solid, but I think I preferred the chicken fajitas way more than the beef Cheers!!

Diana took our order within minutes, margaritas and drinks served fairly quickly. She suggested their citrus tea, which was good but very sweet. The quality of the food and service is always consistently great with the Gringo's family!
