Totally incompetent business model and service, more specifically since there was not a Tap Room manager on site while this lounge was in operation. The most egregious error for our group was an ambiguous and specific "minimum" that had to be met. Clearly like any establishment, having a large party would translate into meeting some sort of minimun. This was presented in a rude tone by Natalin. Our for the lack of a better word, "server," Natalin was unfortunately our server of the night. When she took peoples orders from our group, she requested a credit card but she failed to mention we had given our credit card that was on file already. Maybe she was skeptical no one would tip her...maybe she was stereotyping our group. Her overall demeanor was unpleasant, but since we are all human, we all have bad days and this was our server's bad day. But sadly, her bad day loomed on a majority of our group and as well as other patrons outside of our party. The entire experience was not comfortable. Our group went on to order on separate tabs throughout the night which exceeded the minimum, $1,200. As we were exiting, we were slapped with a check paying for an 18% gratuity on $1,200 check (our bill was $800.00) granted there were separate checks involved that well over exceeded this amount and our waitress gladly accepted these with the separate checks and also added an automatic 18% GRATUITY on everyone's tab. In sum, she essentially made tips on both ends, perfect ! She gladly accepted cash tip but still charged 18% . She stated there was no manager so no one could adjust the bill.... so we asked her to return our cash! As we brought it to Natalin's attention about this charge, she became combative, defensive, played the victim, and literally ran to the back because she stated that she felt as if she was being harassed. This is where management would be needed, but we were able to speak with Brian, which whom was the hotel manager for the night. I will mention that I have previously been to the Tap Room on numerous occasions, but this whole incident was forcefully turned into an insult. Overall this review is fragmented with intention because our serivce was majorly fragmented. A perfect outing deserves a perfect review. We stayed at one of the cottages at the Langham, and we figured the quickest and easiest way to get dinner was the Tap Room. They didn't answer the phone, so we had to walk up there and order at the bar, which took about ten minutes. We decided to grab a table outside while we waited for our order. We sat at that dirty table for about 20 minutes, so I bussed it myself. I ordered the shrimp ceviche, which came as a layer of shrimp on the bottom of the plate, without chips, and the tuna tartar, which was supposed to come with puffed rice. The rice was literally two clumps of ten grains. I thought they forgot the rice until I crunched into the tiny hard pieces with my teeth. I thought, this can't possibly be the puffed rice! When we got the food back to the cottage, I almost walked back to return it, but I just didn't have the energy as we were visiting a friend at Helford Hospital. I took a bite or two and decided to just eat the Doritos I had in the room. Horrible service. Horrible food. Order room service instead. read more

We used to LOVE to come to the Tap Room for a quiet evening of adult only time. The food was great, the drinks were great, the service was great, and the ambiance was great. Now? The new menu is awful! Seriously, there wasn't a single thing that we wanted to order! Bring back your awesome tacos and sliders! Especially for those who have dietary concerns, there is little to nothing to eat on this new menu. Since we couldn't order any food we were cautious with the alcohol that we were ordering. It was clear that the server wasn't interested in serving us or checking in since we weren't spending much (had planned on spending $150 or so before we saw the new menu). There was a small group that was being extremely rude and crass (lots of cursing and VERY detailed explanations of their recent sexcapades). We wanted to move, but there weren't any other seats. The servers clearly heard the conversations and did nothing to temper them. The Langham is supposed to be a classy place - if we wanted to hear that kind of language we'd go watch an X-rated movie. The management definitely should have stepped in! Sadly, our go to spot before covid is no more now that they have reopened. Such an upscale, classy place to grab a few drinks with friends. We were celebrating a dear friend of mine's birthday here this last weekend. The Tap Room is located inside the super nice Langham Hotel. Follow the live jazz music as you walk into a dim lite lounge with indoor and outdoor seating. We opted to sit outside where we found a few seats with lots of pillows under the heat lamp and had a nice view of the city. The waiters were really friendly and helpful. Our guy didn't even look at me funny when I asked him to surprise me with the second drink. I was very indecisive being that the cockails all sound delicious. He came around a good amount of times without being overwhelming to make sure we had our refills and that we were doing alright. We stayed there til they pretty much closed. Time sure flew by fast and we didn't even know which is good because with that being said, we never felt rushed. The Tap Room has a good range of beers (both bottled, and craft), cocktails ranging from the usual margaritas, gimlets and mai tais, to then the fancier ones such as the Huntington Martini 100, the CC Crush with vodka, jalapeno and cucumber, and The Berry Breeze and a Watermelon King. The two drinks I ordered were easy to drink, not very strong but tasty for sure. They also had wines (sparkling, reds, whites, ), whiskey, champagne (I did see Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne there if you're feeling spency), a good variety of tequilas, vodka, scotch and gin. There is something here for everyone. Most cocktails are about $15 each. We had had dinner already so we opted on the food options (the menu had small bite plates such as sliders, pizza, a cheese plate and of course dessert). Awesome place for sure. I would love to come back and maybe take a seat inside by the fire place next time. The crowd consist of a large variety of people: cougars, older folks, younger crowd that are over clubbing, a few smoking cigars, a few wedding party people and what not. It is a bit of a classier lounge so dress to impress. I don't think there's a dress code though. Great place for a date night and even for a few cigars. Tip: Parking is valet only. This is a really beautiful bar to casually have a drink and order some food. They have really nice patio seats, and you can watch the sunset (albeit over a parking lot). There's a lot of dark wood paneling with modern touches; it's all very sleek, can be romantic or casual, yet classy. We all got a drink and enjoyed several hours of just sitting around and chatting. My friend was staying at langham Pasadena hotel and she suggested me and my girlfriends to get together for drinks at the bar. I arrived there around 7:30 and there was a wait for valet parking, the valet is $14 but with validation you only pay $6. I loved the holiday decoration. We ordered the shishito tempura, wagyu sliders and chicken katsu fries. For drinks we all ordered secret garden because we all loved it so much. The fries was so good and the sliders were ok but the shishito peppers weren't that tasty. The service was a little slow but the manager kept checking on us to make sure everything was ok. Came here after a yoga event on the lawn and had to try the raving Lobster Corn Dogs - they were gone the second they hit the table that's why there's no photo. They have a live band and 50% off on bar bites and specials on drinks on Thursdays nights. I've tried a good variety of the food and they're all pretty damn delicious. Sweet potato fries are amazing. Crunchy and such a large portion! It's even better with the garlic aioli. I would keep coming here just for this. Portobello sliders are so juicy! I prefer them over the Wagyu sliders. Tuna tartar was bland; skip this. The grilled octopus was nicely charred. Service is a hit or miss. The first time I came, service was relatively quick and attentive. It's been downhill since then. Food takes forever to come out and it was difficult to flag ANYONE down for anything. In the afternoon, it can be a nice quiet spot, with a nice view of the grounds. At night, though, it can feel like a club with lots of people, live music, and wedding parties and events. Service at the bar was solid, but the cocktails were just so so. I would definitely go with a beer or wine, or perhaps a single malt, as they have a decent collection. My fave was a Chimay on draft which was a really nice end to the evening. So the Tap Room can be a little unpredictable, so be ready to go with the flow :). read more

We came here on Thursday, April 28, to grab a snack and we were sent to the bar to order to go. The waitress at the bar (JGibbs on our receipt) took our order and gave us some waters. She also gave us the little nuts tray to snack on while we waited. She was very nice but the thing that bothered me was she and another coworker were talking about how much tip they got from the Padres. She was also talking about how the guys were tasting different drinks and they let the waitress/bartenders try them too and "it was really cool" so she said. To talk about this in front of the customers was very unprofessional. It made it seem like all they cared about was how much they made, which if perfectly fine but there is a place and time...not in front of people they are serving. We expected more professionalism...especially at such a gorgeous and upscale hotel...hence the two stars. As for food, we ordered the sliders and they were okay. Update: I use to really love this place but the service has gone down hill the last couple times I have been here. They cater way more now to the post wedding crowd and ignore service of regular customers. I did write their management privately because I was so embarrassed when I took a visiting friend here, only to leave 20 min after being ignored/never acknowledged. Got my car from valet and but the managers who validated me did nothing to help out their stressed or staff- they were goofing around a corner and when I told them what happened ( two younger bill and white guys). As a single woman, sitting at the bar was a nice way to meet people, once they got rid of that, it's only larger groups or couples pretty much. Who wants to sit alone in a dark corner? not luxury. Old review Dive bars are overrated if you are a female on her own- I like my drinking in a more upscale environment. On the weekends they have a band that is a mix of top 40. Not many single men on the weekend - but seems there is a Pasadena cougar set sometimes. Valet is $6 with bar validation. Valet and Bar staff is welcoming. This bar stays open consistently due to hotel contracts with guests so you don't have to worry about it being closed when you show up. The one thing that is negative is sometimes during the week- because of the groups of business men- the conversation can be a little locker room with men forgetting they are in a public space or that the bartender is female- and the staff can't really say much when you have make clients being vulgar. There was NO happy hour drink or 'bites' specials. We paid full price everything. I don't know what other yelpers were talking about. The music was nice and not intrusive. The wait service was mediocre... the managers on hand were doing a better job of refilling water while the bus boy got us the snack dish, only AFTER we asked for it. You can't help but take a moment to grasp in all this beauty when you pull up to the front. The crystal chandeliers and antique furniture sure looks like you walked into some elegant, exquisite scene from a movie. It was a little hard to find this place because this hotel is just colossal. When you enter, go straight towards the double glass pane doors. Here you will approach like a small quaint garden with a cute little bridge. Once you bypass and walk through this area, hang left to find it. At least, I enjoyed the process of finding this restaurant. This hotel is definitely worth the time to explore. So this is an upscale bar with outdoor patio lounges and I opted to sit inside because it was cold that evening. Dress to impress is the way to go! The waiters/waitresses were really friendly and as you're seated, they serve you free wasabi peas, mixed nuts and crackers. The night was a huge success; my friends were happy and we all had a great time. People were dancing in front of the live jazz band just grooving away with the music. Drinks were super tasty and I loved my Moscow mule drink. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something classy! They have a nice patio with a beautiful night time view of LA ( not sure what parts but it looked pretty) The vibe is relaxed in the Tap Room. Comfy couches and over stuffed chairs. They serve some substance small plates that are good with drinks. There are 3 flat panels for Sports too. The servers are spot on and fast . It does it busy on the weekends but makes it fun.
