Omgggggggggg This is the best hands down soul food I ever had.. no lie! I'm a huge cook & a big fan of soul food. I came down this week from the Bay Area (California) and stepped away from the crowd and decided to launch on my own and find a soul food restaurant, since most of my friends are bland eaters. Looked on yelp, saw the reviews & called me an uber. I had the catfish, gumbo , Mac & cheese and the special of the day smothered pork chops, In my opinion the cat fish nd gumbo is to die for! I never had smothered pork chops with white gravy ( I prefer brown) but it was delish. Served with I'm not too sure what kind of white rice it was but I don't think long grain.. Shout out to Chef Cam and his crew for feeding 20+ people for our holiday office party. Cam was easy to work with, responsive, and maintained professionalism throughout our interactions. We ordered so much food, when I picked it up, everything was hot and fresh and his crew loaded it into my car. We had some folks at our party from the south, and they commended Styr Kitchen for making delicious soul food that reminded them of home! Amazing food and some of the friendliest staff around! When we visited for the first time, the gentleman behind the counter was incredibly kind and took the time to explain some of the dishes on the menu to us. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They even turned on Paw Patrol for our two kiddos, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience even better. The mac and cheese is hands down the best in Eugene/Springfield and definitely worth trying. Everything we had was delicious, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. What a find! Obscure location for some awesome soul food. Combo Plate - perfectly cooked moist, nicely spiced (but a touch salty) Cajun catfish and good quality fried shrimp. Catfish was a little muddy tasting and shrimp was overcooked but good. The side of Mac and cheese was AMAZING - probably one of the best around. Not overly creamy with a tasty cheese combination. 4.5 stars all around! Gumbo - good melange of fall apart dark meat chicken chunks, small sliced, andouille sausage and okra. The other veg was subtle and perfect amount of rice at the bottom. 5 stars! The value is 3 stars since it's pricey for what you get. The menu offerings and service were fantastic though. This place may look like a little hole in the wall (for lack of a better phrase), but the taste more than makes up for the small seating area! The hush puppies are a sweet cornbread with a thick layer of fry and some mouth-watering cinnamon butter! The Mac and cheese was really delicious with a fantastic "crust" on top. They don't have a traditional soda set up, but they have interesting drinks and bottled water. The owners are staff are polite and really helpful, too. I'm a Cajun, born and bred in south Louisiana. My blood is fried fish platters, poboys, and red beans and rice. This spot tastes the most like home and does a great job of replicating the foods I know so well. The catfish were just great. A wonderful price, actually, for that amount of such meaty fish. The breading was very flavorsome, and although a little different to what I'm used to back home, was absolutely delicious. We ordered the shrimp poboy. If you are from south Louisiana you must know how picky we get about our French bread. This poboy had a decent choice for actual poboy bread (hallelujah it was not a hoagie!). The only let down was the amount of shrimp. It was about half of what you get in a proper poboy - so my husband grabbed an extra catfish filet from my platter and chucked it on his sandwich - perfect :). The red beans and rice were really nice. I wish it had more andouille as I got two small dices of it in my bowl. But it certainly made me feel at home. There's a bit of a wait but patience is rewarded. They make it all fresh! read more

Ok everyone and I mean everyone has been trying to get me to try this. My family is from Baton Rouge so I'm suuupper picky about my soul food lol. So let me break it down. 1. The catfish was cooked perfectly and seasoned so well. 2. The shrimp was fire! And sooo much of it ! 3. If you Doordash, make sure if you want fries to order your sides separately. Once you add on something new they don't send fries . 4. The greens were mid. Seasoned well, just not cooked long enough for me. This could be a southern thing. We like our greens cook cooked lol. And no damn stems lol 5. I don't even really like mac and cheese. But theirs? FIRE! 6. Banana pudding was good. Not great, but good. Idk if they make their pudding from scratch or not... Overall? This place has great food and great service. I had the shrimp added to my gumbo and was very pleased. The gumbo does have some nice sausage in it. I really enjoyed putting that sausage in my mouth. The menu is not huge, some things are better when they are huge. Especially the things I put in my mouth but in this case it doesn't need to be. I have had the shrimp po boy. A combo with fried shrimp and chicken strips. Everything was excellent. I look forward to my next visit. Excited to put something I haven't tried in me. read more

With its location sandwiched between a bodega and a vape shop, you know to survive it must be about the food. And this place has some great southern comfort food. Today I went to Styr Kurbside kitchen! I am amazed at how awesome it was! I kept telling my mom that I haven't been able to find authentic southern food, why can't people make collard greens and grits in Eugene (we found it!)? Anyway, styr was beyond amazing! It was so fresh, I ordered the fried chicken, my mom the shrimp po boy and we split the collard greens, hush puppies and red beans and rice. I rarely go to a restaurant where I don't add salt and pepper but that was not needed here! Perfectly spiced everything was absolutely cooked to perfection! My mon was impressed that they even thought to core out the bread a little for the poboy so that the ingredients didnt slip out while eating. All the little details were executed beautifully! My complements to the chef! The staff and owners were so friendly and very proud of their achievements which they absolutely should be!
