Very good I got the salmon and a tavern sunrise which is their version of a taqueria sunrise. The salmon was excellent(I'm a sucker for capers on my fish). My only complaint was the bed of rice was a bit crunchy (dried out rice from sitting too long). But overall very good. Comfortable atmosphere for a party of one. I sat at the bar. My tender was nice, busy and chatty as a bar tender should be. All in 4.8 out of 5. Would eat there again. read more

Cute place. We really enjoyed our waitress, Mia. The bread and garlic butter (especially the garlic butter) was amazing. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese and it was delicious. The fries were good, too. My husband ordered the filet with garlic butter, medium (I would have preferred medium rare). Unfortunately, it was more than well done and too small to be 8oz. He said the potatoes that came with it were ok, but the green beans were flavorless. It was our anniversary dinner so it's disappointing that it wasn't a great meal. I will say that Mia asked how our meal was and when my husband mentioned the steak was hammered, she took what was left to show the cooks. They took half off the steak. I feel like this was fair. He didn't say anything while we were eating because he didn't want to wait longer for them to redo it. read more

What a fun date night at Tavern at Trails End. This place is loaded with old school ambience and is clearly popular with the locals. The server spent a lot of time talking to old friends, but someone else stepped up when it was needed, so no worries. I had the pork chop, which was outstanding. I never mind spending the money for a good dining experience, and i have been extremely excited about trying this place for a little over a year, but I was disappointed. Not so much with the food, but the experience. If I am spending roughly a hundred a person, I feel there should be a slightly different level of dining experience. I also don't want to hear it's the lake or its tough hiring people. I am aware. If you can't hire people then don't set all of your tables, max 5 tables per waiter and that's max for fine/up-scale dining. Our waiter was affable young man, but lacked basic waiter training. After being sat, with reservations, we landed at a four top with a decanter of water a quarter filled and our utensils in the middle of the table in a pile, no plates on table whatsoever. Our waiter had the entire lower level of restaurant, at least 7 tables and he just couldn't keep up. Appetizer delivered without plates, drinks were slow to the point we gave up on ordering them. Menu seems solid, with a couple of intriguing quirks like Korean ribs, which i should have tried, but didn't due to ketogenic diet. They looked amazing being delivered to other tables. Our table was split with gentleman having ribeye and ladies have the Salmon and salads to start. Cesar salads were dressed far too heavy to the point of most not finishing them. The ladies enjoyed the salmon and vegetables and said they would order again. Steaks were quality cuts, not sure they are a $56 dollar cut, but they were perfectly cooked and had good flavor. Vegetables were perfectly executed. At the end I was still left with not being fully satisfied with my dining experience. My intention is not to dissuade people from coming, because it is worth it, i just think the restaurant needs to step up their game. Train your staff and set more rigid standard of service and dining room appearance. Little things go a long way. read more

I was visiting friends in Camdenton, and they treated me to dinner at The Tavern at Trails End. What a delightful time! It was a Saturday evening, and our reservation was at 5:45 pm; the restaurant was comfortably full, even that early. The view of the lake is lovely through the windows that line one wall of the dining area, and the seating sections are terraced so that everyone has an excellent view. Our server was Jamie, and she was FABULOUS! From the moment she greeted us ("Hello, Friends!") through the end of the meal, she was welcoming and thoughtful and efficient. She guided us in the menu choices (including the specials of the day) and cheerfully wrote down our special requests for our meals. She stopped by our table several times to ensure we had everything we needed, and was genuinely committed to making sure we had a great meal. One friend had the Veal Milanese and the other had the Salmon dinner; my friend who ordered the salmon asked me to write that it was perfectly cooked, very thick and juicy, and absolutely delicious. I had the Surf and Turf (one of the daily specials) and shared a bit of the steak with my friends; we all agreed that it was the BEST cut of beef we've tasted in a long time--again, perfectly cooked, tender, and beyond delicious! The lobster tail was also delectable, and I really enjoyed the Parmesan cheese crusting. One thing I would ask of the front-of-house staff: Since this is a Midwestern restaurant, there may not be many patrons skilled in managing shellfish. The lobster tail had been partially cracked open, but not fully, and the flesh was still adherent to the shell. My knife and fork were not useful in dissecting the meat. I recommend that staff provide crackers and fish forks when serving seafood in the shell, to make it easier to get to the meat. I gave up using utensils and, after checking that it wouldn't offend my friends, attacked the lobster tail with my fingers. It was successful but extremely messy. (Thankfully, Jamie provided some finger wipes afterwards!) The mashed potatoes and haricots verts served with the steak and lobster were wonderfully seasoned and delightful. I enjoyed my house salad (Country Salad) very much and the addition of dried cranberries and shaved Parmesan cheese worked beautifully with the honey vinaigrette dressing. One friend and I shared the Wine Flight (4 glasses), and we were able to select two vintages apiece to pair with our meals. The wine was superb, and my choices (one white and one red) matched perfectly with my food. Our only disappointment was that we were expecting the size of pour that we've enjoyed in wine flights at other establishments. Our glasses each held more of a tasting, which left us truly thirsty for more. Overall, it was a marvelous meal in marvelous surroundings, and Jamie was the sparkle and light that topped the evening off. Thanks so much for such a wonderful dinner with friends! read more

This is off the beaten path but definitely a must visit (if you can get a table). We loved every minute of our stay. Mia was absolutely delightful, striking that perfect balance of solid recommendations, hilarious commentary, and still making sure she was taking care of her guests. It's always busy and entrees are cooked to order, so don't expect your wait time for food to be like Applebee's. I ordered the Wonchos (won ton-style nachos) and probably should have ordered something else from their creative menu. They are good, but the portion was HUGE (I barely made a dent), the barbeque sauce made everything too sweet for an entree and won tons are too delicate to handle the toppings imo. My husband loved his steak entree. Bread service was scrumptious. But the real star of the evening was the Ooey Gooey whatever it was lol. We ate every speck of it unapologetically. You will probably love the dining rooms/historical building. It's super cool, rustic chic and the sense that you're on the set of Yellowstone. read more

We went to this restaurant on a Friday night and made a reservation on Open Table. It was crowded so we waited a little for our table. Our server was Mia and she's hilarious, very friendly and took good care of us. We started with the Woncho's and they are similar to nachos but with fried egg rolls shells so light and airy. First of all this place was very historic with lots of past history that gives it its charm. The place was clean and the servers and owner were very friendly. We were there on a Sat. night with a full restaurant and the owner/chef walked thru asking how the food and service was. I've been to many upscale restaurants and never heard or saw the chef, let alone the owner. We had the mussels for an appetizer and they were unique with a red sauce but outstanding. They were fresh and not gritty. The house salad and caesar was right on point. The filets and the lamb melted in your mouth. Our experience there was fun and was not disappointing. They had some cheaper price point fares on the first page of the menu. I want to try some of them when I go back, around 12 to 15 dollars. I can't tell you about the deserts because I had no place to put anything else. The bread that came with the apps and salad was warm and tasty. So, if your wanting someplace like bed and breakfast comfy, with good food then try this place. If by chance your there close to quitting time and you happen to see an 1800s lady of the evening behind the bar, don't say I didn't warn you! Ha! That's another story. read more

Kids are here from Texas for a visit so we took them here. Spent over $200 and four of the five meals couldn't be eaten.....super dry burgers...I took only two bites it was bad. My husband had a veal pasta dish....nasty...veal was mushy and no flavor...he didn't eat even 3/4 of his meal. Just all around bad food, Also they were out of steaks, fillets, and some apps, place opens at 4 pm it was 5:45 and out of the good stuff already and there was only three other tables there. It was sad because we raved about the food and how delicious it was when we went before....the original chef was off so who he had filling in was no chef. I recommend adding the house salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Soooooo good! I also had the fish basket. Nice flaky cod deep fried in a light batter paired with thick cut fries. Really delicious.
