There are very few things in life that I love more than a grotto. I grew up building forts in tucked away in corners of the house, sheets covering the table and me hiding inside. I love all grotto-adjacent spaces. So when I heard that I could enjoy tea service in a grotto, I was all in. This tea shop is adorable-with cute seating areas and even one table that's in a nook in the corner. That may be the "grotto" and it was taken by another party when I visited, but the nearby tables were just fine. I loved the rose tea and felt so fancy being able to pour it from a cute teapot. Sometimes I just have one of those days where I'm not in the mood for coffee; and I'm so happy I discovered a spot that serves a variety of teas! Um yessss! Parking can be found in the streets. I usually don't have any issues finding one. Once you enter, you'll noticed they sell tea kettles, cups, and cute items. You order at the counter. They can serve a cup, pot, and other sizes. Also, they sell food there, too. Decided to enjoy a pot of herbal teas only with no food inside of the grotto. The pot of herbal tea was floral and earthy. It was nice to sit in a more private space; relax; read and journal. Place is clean and they have a few tables. Staffs are friendly and I felt comfortable there. I'll be back again to try other teas; food; and to buy some herbal loose-leaf teas to take to-go to make at home. read more

A friend highly recommended The Tea Grotto fro the variety of teas they have. I went there to get green tea and since I am not familiar with all the variety they have, I asked if they have a sampler I can purchase. The young lady said no but she can get me some samples for a $1 each. She prepared 5 samples of the tea in very small sample containers and she charged $10. I asked why it ended up being twice as much as she told me and she said well some are $3 per sample. I reluctantly ended up buying the sampler. When I opened the bag, the containers were literally less than half full! Not even enough for one cup of tea. I am not sure why a tea shop staff would lie and not provide enough for even one cup and charge $10!! That was a bad experience and they lost us as potentially big customers. I hope this was an exception and not their standard business practice. Disappointing. read more

Me and my friends recently stopped by the Tea Grotto and ordered a few drinks. My friend ordered a pot of tea to share, and we added the agave to the drinks and it tasted fantastic. We also got the raspberry matcha with milk. All the drinks taste great and I would love to come back to try their pastries as well. The service is fast and the ambience of the building is so cute. They have a lot of fun places to sit and chat with your friends as well as pretty plants in the windows. The best matcha I have ever had, and I have had PLENTY. I highly recommend trying their blueberry matcha, it is naturally sweet and the blueberry essence is within the matcha powder itself (so you can forget the sweetner) Also the service is always great and not rushed. Every employee here is very well knowledge on each of their products and genuinely cares about your experience. They also prioritize timeliness for getting drinks out despite always being really busy. Additionally the tea selection is top of the line and they have beautiful mugs,cups, pots available to buy. Came here after dinner for a post dinner tea and dessert. They have an extensive tea menu in addition to soup, salads sandwiches and other small bites. They also sell a variety of tea items to upgrade your tea experience from cups to tea steepers. The sitting area is cozy with little nooks for studying or for catching up. We ordered two teas along with an Earl grey cookie and a red bean brownie. The teas came out after a few minutes but the desserts took some time but they were nicely plated. The red bean brownie was surprisingly so light and moist. The cookie was thin and crunchy but on the sweeter side. The lavender topping was a nice touch. A friend introduced me to The Tea Grotto. I am usually a coffee kinda gal, but I was glad to change it up this time. There was a short line when we arrived. You order from the tea barista and then turn the corner into a small seating area. I didn't get very many pictures of the inside because the vibe felt like a laid back, intimate type of place and taking pictures felt out of place for me personally. The restroom was clean, which is a great sign. Means their kitchen and staff are clean, but I digress lol. I didn't realize there was more seating towards the back area, behind the curtains. I just assumed it was the kitchen, but my friend said it was more seating. The menu is quite large and there were multiple items that were crossed off and unavailable. I felt slightly rushed since there were others in line behind us and so many choices. I settled for a pot of tea called Deepest Blue Skies. You get a second pot of tea at no charge when you order by pot. It was a majority of berry flavors. Very delicious. We sat for maybe an hour enjoying one another's company. Such a cozy spot with a huge selection of teas! There's not much seating, but we were lucky to snag the hut area and enjoyed it! The tea took so long to come out that I thought they must be making the tea from scratch. The boba teas on the menu all use a dairy-based powder, but you can add boba to any tea. I got a hibiscus tea (cold) with boba, which was very strong and had a bright flavor, and my husband loved his oolong tea. This place is THE SPOT! It's been a staple in my life since discovering it in 2015 or 2016. It's where I take anyone visiting town, where I go for my birthday EVERY YEAR, and my go to whenever I am going out with a friend. I will never understand how there's not line out the door every time I visit...I am PRAYING this place stays put FOREVER! Everything about tea grotto is quality! They have so many incredible tea blends, delicious baked goods, picturesque flowering tea, but their STAR (in my opinion) is their Boba!!! There isn't a single place I've ever found to have such consistently perfect boba pearls as this place and they have sooo many great flavors! I personally have crowned the blended Thai tea boba my favorite drink in existence but the chai is a pretty close runner up. The taro, incredible as well and the honeydew is the most refreshing summer drink ever! My only "complaint" / suggestion is that I wish they offered a larger size. I wish I could drink their boba drinks daily..they are truly THAT GOOD. read more

Came to this local joint with a friend hoping the upscale tea and higher prices would reflect in a true delightful tea experience. Completely the opposite! Walked in and asked for a pure milk tea, no pearls, just like the Taiwanese stalls sell in Taiwan. No such luck. They don't sell any milk tea whatsoever. Only flavored milk teas with fake powder chemical mixes. Wow, that was a surprise. Decided to order a plain Thai tea - again, no luck. No Thai tea in stock. What made it more awkward was that the server went into an excuse for that, detailing that the owner has a new girlfriend and his life is too topsy tervy to stay on top of his business. Ummm... ok. Not a great experience this far. Finally successfully ordered a Honeydew tea, asked for extra ice in a 20 oz glass, not 16, as my friend and I were going for a walk in mid day heat. No such luck. The tea came out in a 16oz cup, no extra ice. It was overwhelmingly sweet - like seriously, sickeningly sweet. I asked the server if he could tone down the overpowering sweetness with some milk, to which he replied they had no milk. Only powdered mixes in store. ??? I asked again, so you have no milk at all in this store?? He took my cup reluctantly, and came back with maybe a tbsp of milk added. Ai yai yai. If you want true authentic Taiwanese tea, go to Ding Tea house in Riverton or Taylorsville. Lower prices, excellent service, and true brewed tea. Not fake powders loaded with sugar like this place. Disappointed here and will not be returning. read more
