This used to be my go-to location but it has gone really downhill. My all time favorite drink is the rose lychee cream tea press with lychee jelly. I've ordered it dozens of times, and I know what it should taste like. At first when I ordered, they gave me a black tea instead of cream tea, which wasn't a problem since they promptly corrected it. But then when I received my actual order, the taste was nothing like how I know it should be. I felt like I was drinking sugar water. Everything was lacking - tea flavor, creaminess, sweetness... It doesn't end there. My boyfriend got the thai green tea, which I had recently ordered at a different teahouse location and enjoyed. The difference in appearance and taste could not be more stark. Usually a vibrant green, what he received was a cup full of condensed milk. No Thai green tea flavor whatsoever. Overall very disappointing experience today. There are multiple locations of Teahouse in the Houston area, but by far, this location is the most consistently AMAZING. The staff are always friendly and professional - they greet you, are patient in answering questions as you decide your order, give extra accommodations, say thank you and bye, etc. The drinks at this location are always perfectly made also (eg, at other locations, when I ask for half baby bobas and half regular, they would often forget, but this place always gets it right; the balance of their #1 Cream Tea at this location is perfect while other locations are either too much tea or too watery)... I've been to this Teahouse location several times and been nervous about some of the things I've seen going on behind the counter. Now during COVID, I am never going to be able to return to this location based on my recent experience. I went in a couple of days ago and the only way to describe how my drink was made was that it was literally being played over before handed to me. First off, it had been sitting in the blender for ages with no top on it before the cashier finally went to go grab it. This person was handling the register and therefore money and then put a little sanitizer on before proceeding to make drinks. They couldn't tell what kind of drink was sitting in the blender because they hadn't made it, so they proceeded to smell it several times, putting the container it up to their face with a mask on. They then took their mask down to expose their nose to smell it. Then took a sample cup, scooped some out, tasted it, and then placed their used sample cup on the preparation counter. I asked for them to remake my drink because I was uncomfortable with how much my drink had been played over and sniffed before being poured for me. They then mixed a new drink up with a spoon and I later realized it could have been dirty in retaliation. That's typically not how I see people making bubble tea. I should have just left. I won't be back to this location. read more
