    Shrimp tacos. So much flavor!!!
    Elizabeth P.

Absolutely love everything about this place! The food is amazing! And they are very well versed in food allergies, specifically GF. Most items on the menu can be modified and everything is clearly labeled on their menus. The service is stellar! From making the reservation till you finish and pay. Caroline is always super friendly and welcoming! Ryan our server went above and beyond! Answered all our questions and made great suggestions. The place itself, although quite unassuming on the outside, is warm and welcoming with a combination of charm and elegance. Don't walk, run! You will not be disappointed!!

Always fantastic service and good. It is super cute with great Jazz on Saturday nights. Shrimp and grits is the best I've ever had. Smash burger is fantastic and the shrimp tacos are over the moon. Great maple old fashioned.

Gorgonzola grilled chicken, pomegranate brisket and acorn squash entrees

If I could, I would give Thompson's Kitchen 10 stars! From the service to the dessert and EVERYTHING in between was quite honestly the best of the best of the best! The welcoming old charm meets 2025 was inviting and comfortable . The shrimp dip and halloumi appetizers were delicious! The gorgonzola grilled chicken, pomegranate brisket and acorn squash entrees were packed with fabulous flavor, aesthetically beautiful and served in hearty quantities. And the dessert.....! The bread pudding with fresh whipped cream was an eye-rolling, melt in your mouth, can't get enough delicacy! Fantastic chef! All of the above wonderful-ness was topped by Stacey... the absolutely kindest man to ever provide restaurant hospitality. From his culinary knowledge of the menu, his professional attentiveness to our table and his kind, gentle personal interactions left us with a mind blown experience! If you haven't experienced The Thompson's Kitchen, you haven't experienced excellence. Very, very well done gentlemen.

    Pumpkin Martini

This is our second time here! We are down from Indianapolis. Mallory was our server and she was well beyond a 10/10. We had the Rainbow Trout Special, Pomegranate Brisket and the app Pimento Cheese Puffs. I had the pumpkin martini and the sangria. Everything was a 10/10. Looking forward to our next Nashville visit.

First off- the good- I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE most of everything I've tried here. However, I just came back from a lunch here with my husband. We both got water, a salad and an entree each. Our bill was $75 for lunch before tip and we were STILL HUNGRY.... I'm a thin 37 year old female. I don't eat a lot normally. I shouldn't pay $37.50 for just food and leave still hungry. I didn't even get meat! Why such small portions ?!?!?

Burger with Pimento Cheese, Bacon Jam, Comeback Sauce and chips

Thompsons Kitchen has been in this spot a little over 2 years. I had been to this location previously when it was another establishment and the interior is basically the same. Server was friendly and efficient. I ordered the Burger, which comes with a nice dollop of Pimento cheese, Bacon Jam, Comeback Sauce, add some pickles and serve it on a nice bun, accompanied by a bag of chips: but they were hen of the woods sea salt, nicely flavored chips! The burger was cooked perfectly and that Bacon Jam worked so well with the pimento cheese. Since it was an occasion, we splurged for dessert and ordered the Kahlua Chocolate cake with a Coulis of Strawberry and Blackberry, that worked well with the cake and the whipped cream. Definitely making a return trip here!

Had a most wonderful lunch at The Thompsons Kitchen! Impeccable service, warm and inviting staff and atmosphere. The entire space is so beautifully and cleverly decorated with repurposed doors, windows, panels, antique cash register... Then there is the menu! It was difficult to select just one entree! They are very knowledgeable about Celiac disease and the restrictions. Almost everything on the menu could be modified. I had their stuffed winter squash and tasted some of the shrimp tacos. Both were exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented. Desert was a boozy chocolate brownie with raspberry gelato! Obviously I recommend this place highly and I will certainly be back several times to try everything on their menu!

Wow-you gotta try this place. It's the authentic local experience you cannot find anymore. We were there on a Saturday evening for a special occassion and we had a truly remarkable experience. Homey, yet sophisticated. Family-friendly, yet great for a date night. Creative and crafty and comforting all at once. I started with the Prsociutto Fig salad, which was both light and hearty, and also rich and flavorful. Creamy goat cheese, sweet figs, and savory prosciutto combine to make for a wonderful start to the meal. You won't go wrong with any of the entrees...seven people, seven choices, everyone very pleased. I had the Kaluha Pig with Johnny Cake, which looks diminuative when it arrives, but will take you down. It's a great option if smoky flavors are what you seek. Alternatively, the brisket is a great option if you want a sweet, savory, delicious combination. As for desserts, yes. Don't dither about it, get what appeals and end on a high note. We had practically every option among us, and they were all epic--lemon curd, brownie tower, bread pudding, apple crisp. Being a Saturday night, there was also live music. In our case, a jazz trio, which provided a wonderful soundtrack to a very memorable evening.

It did. In this area, I'm often trepidatious when it comes to popular restaurants. My fear is mainly that the establishment will be too charmed with itself, heavily curated, and more like a photo backdrop than a place to eat. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded when it came to the Country Boy. Between the two of us, we ordered the Country Boy Breakfast, The Hillsboro & a chocolate chip pancake (and coffees, of course). I felt like we could have fed the whole village of Leiper's Fork, but the guy across from me found the portions go be exactly mathematically accurate (he ate all of his and half of mine). The biscuits were soft, pillowy, perfection. I imagine the closest Italian equivalent would be someone's Nonna's centuries-old secret gnocchi recipe. We scarfed everything down while stealing glances at each other which wordlessly spoke, "Where are we? Is this where Waffle House got its inspiration? Can I be buried here?" etc. I will close with the words of an old philosopher, (that one redhead girl on Vine), "Country Boy I love yoooou.... aaaaaaah :P"

I always get the half order of catfish fillet, usually with a baked potato, and I have NEVER been disappointed. No joke, some of the best catfish I have had in my life! I was able to go last week while visiting, and tried the spicy catfish fillet for the first time. The breading was a little thicker than their regular fillet, but crisp and full of flavor without being overly spicy. The sides are served family style, which is dangerous for me, because I could easily take down a family's worth of creamy coleslaw, white beans with red pepper relish, and hushpuppies before my catfish even has an opportunity to get to the table. Those hushpuppies..... soooooo good! Nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Large parking lot out front with the iconic Catfish statue alerting everyone that they got the right place for catfish. The interior is unassuming, and according to my dad, hasn't changed much in the last 50 years. It's clean though, and in my opinion, if you have a good thing going, then why change? There's something special about sitting back with great food and drinks while listening to talented local musicians in such a historic, laid-back setting. The food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the live music truly made the visit memorable. It wasn't just background entertainment--it created an atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we planned. Fox & Locke perfectly captures the charm of Leiper's Fork. Whether you're a local or just exploring the area for the weekend, this is the kind of place that keeps you coming back. Great food, great people, and fantastic live music--what more could you ask for? Highly recommend!

(3.5/5 stars) I've…read morebeen to Fox & Lock many times over the years, enough to try nearly everything on the menu. It's a solid, casual meat-and-three that's become a gathering place for both locals and visitors. The friendly staff and frequent live music create a lively atmosphere, and if you're already coming to Leipers Fork for a show, it's a great place to grab a meal beforehand. The menu offers classic Southern comfort food with rotating daily specials. The pulled pork is one of the more consistent meats, although I've had it arrive perfectly tender on some visits and a bit dry on others. The second meat changes throughout the week, which keeps things interesting for repeat customers. I've worked my way through all of the sides, and the fried okra is easily my favorite. It's consistently served hot and crispy, though I think a signature seasoning blend would make it even better. The macaroni and cheese is another standout, although I've occasionally received it lukewarm. The sweet potato fries are also enjoyable but could use a little more crispness, and I think they'd really shine with a house-made dipping sauce like a hot honey mustard. The green beans appear to be canned, which doesn't personally bother me, but they leave an unusual aftertaste that keeps me from ordering them often. The collard greens have good flavor but tend to include more stems than I'd prefer. The baked beans lean savory rather than sweet, which may appeal to some diners, though I usually prefer sweeter baked beans with barbecue. The mashed potatoes are simple and would benefit from the option of either cream gravy or brown gravy. One item that always kept me coming back was the chicken fingers. For a long time, they were some of my favorites in the area--crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I've driven out from Nashville just to order them. Recently, however, the breading seems to have changed, and they haven't quite been the same. The onion rings are another reliable choice, arriving consistently crispy, though I think they'd be even better paired with a signature dipping sauce or seasoning. Overall, I think the atmosphere is what makes Fox & Lock special. The staff is consistently welcoming, the live music is excellent, and it's an important part of the Leipers Fork community. If you're visiting the area for the music or exploring the town, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a meal. While I don't think the food alone is worth making a special trip from Nashville, it's enjoyable comfort food in a fun setting and a place I'm sure I'll continue to visit.

But highly specialized foreign cuisine like Indian, Vietnamese, or in this case Korean, is typically found in the big city. It doesn't just happen in random places. One would think those can't exist beyond the suburban reaches of a heavily populated area. And they preferably occur in a neighborhood with a significant ethnic population that guarantees the demand for authenticity. When I saw the phenomenal online ratings for Fat Tiger, a greatly heralded Korean joint on the periphery of the Nashville metropolitan area, way out in the countryside by city slickers' standards, I wondered if it was too good to be true. Were these ratings inflated, or was this a hidden gem people need to know about? The only way to discover the truth was to drive myself out there. Boy was that drive worth it! Fat Tiger is legit! While my standards are unreasonably lofty after eating copious dishes in South Korea on several occasions, the recipes made at Fat Tiger passed down from a Korean grandmother are spot on! Yes, it's true, some of the best Korean food in Middle Tennessee is all the way out in Dickson County!! Thank heavens for crowd-sourced review sites finding spots like this! On their recommendation, I went with the jaeyook bokkeum that I'd fallen in love with on an outing in Seoul. It's thinly shaved spicy pork marinated in a gochujang rub, pleasantly spicy but not so hot that you couldn't enjoy it. That was absolute perfection!
