I've been going here for 3years and my eyebrows used to be nicely done whenever I went with Ella. The last 3 visits ive gone, both the owner and the guy have messed up my eyebrows. There's no shape, they took off more than they should've. The owner is always conversing with the people she only knew and would be rushing everything. Doesn't look like she even cares about the person she's working on. Ella used to make my eyebrows look really nice and it wouldn't be painful whenever she did it. She was always very thorough when it came to my eyebrows. It's time for a new threading place. Gave them 3 chances...left disappointed and unsatisfied with the results. I no longer recommend this place to anyone. I took my coworker here for her first time. The owner didn't do anything different to her eyebrows and suggested her to just fill in her eyebrows. Too small of a waiting area. When I went the line was out the door, and the wait per person seemed to be about 10 minutes or more. I ended up leaving to go to another spot that I never have a problem with waiting at even though its 6 miles away. It's difficult to rate this place because not only is the service important, but also the quality. Although my eyebrows always came out clean, I've never really had a good experience here. The girls who work here are intimating and not really friendly. Also, I didn't realize they raised their price from the last time I was there--$9 for both eyebrows instead of $6. I really wanted to like this place but they just aren't good at eyebrow threading. I get my eyebrows done every two weeks, usually elsewhere but have come here twice, trying desperately to like it. I have been here a few times and every experience has been disappointing. The first time I came, it took the stylist 40 minutes to thread only my eyebrows! The other places I go to take 10 minutes max, so this was ridiculous. Most of that time was spent fixing my eyebrows; she made one WAY thinner than the other, and didn't seem to notice her mistake until I pointed it out. During my most recent visit I spent most of the time arguing with the owner because I was unhappy with how the stylist did my eyebrows. She first threaded my eyebrows with very harsh edges in the middle. When I asked her to soften the look a bit, the stylist told me she didn't know how to, so she had to call the owner over. The owner immediately began lecturing me and telling me how I was making a big mistake. She repeatedly told me that the stylist had given me the look that "everyone" wanted and I was ruining it by asking her to round out the middle a bit. Eventually she fixed my eyebrows, but not before spending 5 minutes telling me what a huge mistake I was making. In addition, the stylists always seem distracted while doing your eyebrows. One time, the stylist's boyfriend walked in while she was threading my eyebrows so she completely stopped working on me to go over talk to him. I would only come here if you are desperate. The prices are low, but there are so many better places out there with much better service and equally good results. read more

Every time I come, my eyebrows are trimmed thinner and thinner until I'm afraid there's nothing left to shape! I started coming to the thread bar after years of going to Vinitas. I noticed the shape of my brows was becoming very round and I used to have beautifully shaped brows with an arch. After one time at the thread bar, I noticed a huge difference in their shape. They look so great and I am so glad I found this place! I have been a loyal customer here for the last year or so, and after my most recent experience that WON'T be the case anymore. The two women that work there have ALWAYS been unprofessional and minimally friendly when I've come in to get my eyebrows threaded, but I kept coming back because of the cheap price and adequate thread job. First off, the website says they close at 7pm but then their phone message says they take their last walk-in at 6:30. Pretty misleading. I rushed over there and got to the door by 6:25 according to my Verizon iPhone. The door was closed, so I checked to see if it was unlocked and it was. I walked in and saw (not the owner) doing the eyebrows of a customer. I asked her if I could be next, and she said "nope we go by our clock and it's 6:32!" I explained that my clock said otherwise and I was hoping she could fit one more person in. She didn't respond, and then looked up and said "what do You need?" in an annoyed voice. I closed to door and said "never mind" and walked out. Look I get it, she probably worked all day and was ready to leave...but c'mon. I've been a returning customer for some time now. A simple: "I'm sorry!! Can you come back Tomorrow?" Instead of her rude response would have been appreciated. From reading other posts here, I see that the owner is aware that people say critical things about TTB on yelp. I hope she knows that this isn't a one time thing--it's REAL. People like me who have been coming for a while (and have the means to refer a LOT of people) are going to look elsewhere for business where the employees are cordial to EVERYONE. The girls here know their eyebrows. You tell them exactly what you want and they do it. I try to come here as often as I can but the thought of hunting for parking in the busier part of Westwood frightens me. I usually end up parking a block away at a meter. This place is a cute little place! It is decorated really cute and there is always fun music playing. The service is good and pretty fast. I think the price is really great for the area and they have a punch card so you can get a free service eventually. Parking can be difficult and you have to pay at the meters. read more

I had my eyebrows done by Aida yesterday, but they came out too thin and also uneven because there was too much taken off the top on one brow. She seemed distracted while doing my brows even though there was no one in line after me. When I brought up that they were uneven, she blamed it on the hair growth on my eyebrows which is strange because no one else has ever taken off so much from only one arch. On the bright side, at least eyebrows will grow back over time. I won't be coming here again if I can avoid it. read more

Also, I talked with the girl about my eyebrows and what I wanted (shapewise) and she was cool and knew her stuff. If you don't want an honest opinion - don't go to Thread Bar. This is a place for people who are honestly interested in IMPROVING their looks - if you need to be coddled and told how fabulous you are and have somebody hold your hand and lie to you just to make you feel good - don't go to Thread Bar. If you like to have fun, don't mind waiting a few extra minutes for a fabulous result and would rather have an honest opinion about how to look better - go to Thread Bar. If you have to wait for something - that usually means it's worth waiting for. And in all honesty, Aida is worth waiting for. She is honest and funny and FUN! ***READ THIS REVIEW*** I used to be a regular at Thread Bar and would go to Aida. However, things seemed to be a bit fishy with her whenever I came in.... And by fishy, I mean extremely RUDE and SELF-CENTERED. The last time I went in was perhaps the absolute WORST customer experience I've ever had. First, I had to wait 45 mins when there was NO WAIT AT ALL, and then Aida still managed to BLAME IT ON ME, telling me that I need to come earlier because, and I quote, "SHE HAS A LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK." Excuse me? Honey, I came in at 6PM and you were making small talk with your employees before you even got to me. If you "have a life outside of work," then maybe you should consider closing your shop at 6PM, rather than 7PM. Oh, and not to mention, she's extremely rough on her customers. Each time I've gone to her, tears have poured out of my eyes because she hurt so bad. So, all in all, I highly suggest not coming here, but going up the street closer to Wilshire to a wonderful threading boutique called "Vinita's." They're quick, efficient, and extremely, extremely gentle. I've never had threading that has not hurt, until I came here. And last, Thread Bar only accepts cash, which is extremely annoying. This place has the worst customer service. The only reason people keep coming here is because of how cheap it is. Both the owner and her sidekick, Courtney, are pretty bad in the people department. I suppose they have a "self important" attitude because they have the power to make people wait. Once you're lucky enough to sit in the chair, they will spend about 5 minutes on you, without saying a word. The owner is pretty young, so I'm guessing her Daddy bought her the place. I'm all for family helping family, if you're gracious. I guess her parents never taught her that. You can tell these girls are just waiting to be discovered for a reality show. I was really excited to try this place out based on all the great reviews its gotten here but couldn't get past the rude receptionist. When I got there, the receptionist was on the phone and signaled for me to wait. I would have been happy to wait for her if she was on a business call or for her to wrap up a personal call. But instead I ended up waiting through a full five minutes of her discussing Facebook with a friend. In this time, she made no attempt to end the conversation or acknowledge me again. To give you the idea of how much more important the conversation was versus helping the customer, I can quote some of it verbatim: "Remember that blonde girl I told you about?...They're no longer friends on Facebook. Well I was talking to him about it...No, I don't think I should be grateful to him about that at all...It's not like I want to date him anymore. I just want him to be really confused about how I feel about him." Bad customer service is a real pet peeve of mine, and I think this receptionists' behavior speaks poorly of the level of professionalism at The Thread Bar. She completely devalued my time. There are about 20 other places in Westwood where I can get my eyebrows threaded. Why do I have to wait here while she sorts out her boy issues? I went to Vinita's, where I happily paid a dollar more for great customer service and a great pair of eyebrows. read more

It's a little tough to find - the entrance is a small nook with a long staircase up into a courtyard and you'll find their door on the right side (I believe it's the second or third door).
