Thread Bar on Westwood Blvd. is the best thread bar on the west coast. I walked in to the Bar last summer 08 when the sweet and quiet Andrea was passing out flyers. I had tried other thread salons on westwood blvd and in LA and I always regretted going. Iam a working fashion model in LA and NYC with covers for Vampd and CYH magazine as well as national camaigns for Smashbox, Sephora, Be Platinum Cosmetics, NCL Couture, KeraCare, and many more. In short, my face and beauty is my job. So I took the risk. My brows were already thick, unshaped and in need of a good, regular thread artist. Thus I walk up the stairs to the Bar. It is the most chic ecclectic spot i've seen. The pink and black walls, Pink Laptop computers with Web ccess while you wait and great music transports the lobby into somthing like a hot Hollywood Lounge. But how was the service? Anyone can buy asthetic. Aida did my brows -and in short, I have gone ever since. She NEVERmade my brows too thin, too trendy or too like her own style. She took my needs and my job into consideration and simply enhanced my natural shape in accordance with my face. I adore her work, and she even did the brows on my avi. If Aida is busy, Andrea is also available. She is quiet but she packs a punch. She is also a talented artist. I enjoy the service. I have been going to The Thread Bar for over a year now and I couldn't be more pleased with how my eyebrows look. Both Aida and Courtney are masters at their art; they're quick and are never one to make my eyebrows any thinner than they need to be. I can say with full faith that Aida and Courtney can fix even the most disastrous of eyebrows. An added bonus of the studio is its fun atmosphere. There's always EDM music blaring from the speakers and Aida and Courtney always make it a priority to treat their regulars (and of course their newcomers) with respect and conversation. In regards to the post by Annie C: It's always baffling to read negative posts about The Thread Bar, but to comment negatively on how Aida and Courtney create friendships with their clients is rather absurd. I was actually in the studio on the day of the "filming" and the video itself is no more than two minutes long. Furthermore, Aida was submitting that to a program that fosters women's empowerment. I'm a regular at the tread bar. I'm here using their internet. Aida sets up a few laptops and has a bunch of magazines out for the girls waiting to look at. Sure the line takes awhile, but there is a reason for that. The price is the best, $7 for eyebrows, and only $8 for eyebrows and upper lip. Aida is very friendly and takes care of herself physically- so you dont have to be worried about her touching your face. Her co-worker Andrea also is very fast and efficient. They also have a punching card so you 10th eyebrow is free! The shop is hip, easy to fun, and colorful. I have gone to many other places for more money, and they are all shit compared to here. I have had my eyebrows messed up far too many times. They are a crucial part of your face- and I although I don't live near by and the parking can be a bitch, it is by far the cheapest and best place. People who think Aida are fake are used to the phony people around LA, if you dont want an honest opinion and a kind soul who really cares about your eyebrows and will give you real advice, then don't come here. read more

I've been a regular customer at The Thread Bar for the last 6 months or so and I've always been fully satisfied with the results. Aida, Andrea and Courtney have threaded my brows before and each one of them takes great care to ask and understand what shape of brow you like and what suits you. A note of caution: if you ever go to have your brows threaded and the person doesn't ask how you would like them done, speak up! All of these women are also perfectionists when it comes to making sure your brows are even. Trust me, this is not the case everywhere you go! I much prefer threading to waxing but I definitely prefer when my threading is done at The Thread Bar. You will notice a difference. This shop also offers a frequent buyer card, which can be quite useful if you go on a regular basis, so make sure you get one. Just one thing to note: The Thread Bar only accepts cash. read more

Short version: Go to this place! Long Version: I've been looking for a threading place since coming to UCLA and this place is walking distance from there. Aida runs this place herself and is damn good at what she does. Her shaping is even and on point and she's incredibly gentle. The prices are very reasonable (especially for Westwood). She's friendly and helpful too. She even let me come back and pay later when I only had my credit card (she only takes cash). Because Aida is such a threading master, be prepared to wait a bit if you do a walk in. Just bring a book with you, it will be worth it. The only problem is something she can't help- parking is difficult. Walk if you can or just park in the Borders garage across the street and then grab a coffee on your way out. read more

Aida the store owner is a misandrist (someone who hates men). I found myself sitting quietly, having my eyebrows trimmed by the store owner, while she ranted about how men are WEAK and STUPID. To which she proceeded to tell her gay-male assistant to "FUCK OFF" for sitting in her dog's "favorite chair." You are greeted with a "just have a seat" and begins trimming your eyebrows before asking what you want done. When she was done, I told her it was, "a little too rounded off for my tastes" to which she replied to me, "Well, I know how to do men's brows. You WILL like them..." And then immediately told me to get up, and called in her next client. read more

I just got my eyebrows threaded for the first time! Ive only ever gotten them waxed a couple times and hated it because they left my eyebrows to thin and arched shaped. i was really nervous at first because i was scared the eyebrow shape wouldnt suit me or that aida would be mean to me. But that was completely unnecessary :) she was great and the whole experience was amazing!! and i love my eyebrows, i dont believe they have ever looked this good. do it. just do it. its only 7 dollars so you might as well give it a first time try. you wont regret it. p.s. im writing this on the laptops they have here for their customers while they wait. read more

I've been visiting Thread Bar for a few months now. As a middle eastern girl with a lot of experience in having my face and eyebrows threaded, this is by far the best threading place i've found in LA. Andrea does a great job and follows my direction precisely, she never takes off too much or too little, and she doesn't miss a single hair. Aida (the owner) has designed the place in the most fabulous way... the atmosphere is fun and friendly and very welcoming, and there are laptops for customers to browse on while they wait. Apr 2014 - Groupon Deal: $9 for x3 sessions - you can't go wrong (you would think)! Thought it would be great for 'tidy up'... I should have known better; cheap prices does not mean good quality. The staff were confident & told me they would give my eyebrows the symmetrical / professional look - far from it ! They ruined my shape - had to grow my eyebrows out to get them back to its thicker / symmetrical / arched shape! This place is amazing, i used to live down the street from the thread bar and it its by far the best eyebrow threading place I have been too. Not only are their prices great and unbeatable but they do an awesome job! Since I have moved I have tried different places due to the distance but they do not compare to the great work they do there, it is totally worth the drive. Best Eyebrows ever! I usually would have my eyebrows waxed. However, the threading seem to be more natural and healthier for your eyebrows. The threaders at this place are all good... all capable of producing natural looking eyebrows to your liking. I love the atmosphere... surf the web on one of the computers while you wait. This is the only place I would go to get my eyebrows done. It's the best price in town and the best job. There is usually about an hour wait, but it is well worth it. I personally prefer Andrea to Aida for my eyebrows. It's $8 for eyebrows and upper lip. Andrea does a beautiful job very fast. read more
