Second time coming to this location. We sat at the bar, I didn't know you could order your food at the bar. We had already ordered our food at the counter. The food did take longer than normal to come out. I got 2 tacos. And my husband got a burrito. Both of my tacos the meat was cold and it appeared like they were sitting out for some time. They just didn't look fresh to me. My husband got the steak burrito and there was nothing but rice and beans, super stingy with the steak. Torchy's tacos was a chain that I was not familiar with.But i'm sure glad I stopped. Not sure what to expect , I was pleasantly surprised to find a small bar with a great bartender,Matt. Matt was very helpful in talking about the origins of the chain and the freshness and quality of the food. I didn't realize this location was close to where I work so we popped in to try it. It's quick casual but I think the prices a tad high for that. Regardless the tacos I tried were good! I had the republican and the hog father. Both are a little on the sweet side so next time I'll opt for more savory and traditional taco options. I did also try a friends queso and it was really good! If you like spicey food, this place is for you! Sorry torchy but the queso was not very cheesy tasting and I did not care for the style of salsa. I WILL be dreaming about the brush fire taco though...the chicken marinade was absolutely amazing! Everything is made to order and very fresh and they bring it out to you and clean your table. Classic Tex-Mex place. We got it for takeout with a huge group order and they got everything correctly. The menu names are hilarious and everything is really good. I definitely recommend the Baja Fresh tacos, the queso, the grande burrito the churro's and the carne asada tacos. Met up with some friends for Hooky Hour I have been coming for food for years but it was my first Hooky Hour bit definitely won't be our last! Last night we loved talking to the bartender and manager who were both so helpful, personable and clearly enjoyed their jobs. Hooky Hour all drinks are 50% and they were well mixed and great recipes! We also got tacos - the green chile pork is my favorite. The queso and guacamole were also our favorites! My friend is already planning our next trip back! This place never disappoints. The queso is amazing, as is the spicy margaritas. I have not found better Churros and we are lucky to make it all the way home till they are gone. We love this place and eat there several times a month. If I had to criticize anything it would be the burritos. Sometimes they are the best ever! Sometimes they are not. Just this past weekend, once again the burrito was made in such a way that one end was only rice, middle was beans, and meat at the other end. I was so happy to see Torchy's Tacos in Florida! I was a huge fan of Torchy's when I lived in Austin so when I was in St. Pete I had to stop by. I went during lunch on Sunday and it was packed but the line moved fast and everyone had food on their plates. I ordered my fried avocado taco and a large order of queso and I just melted. It was like I was back in Austin for a bit but the I was so happy. The staff was so helpful and welcoming, the menu has grown since I visited Torchy's ten years ago, and so they were kind enough to answer my questions. The Bar was also very lively! So happy Torchy's has made it to Florida! Quick food with liquor options and a bar is the way to go. Four stars for quality of food and ambiance. Not happy they do not offer complimentary salsa like they did in Houston. I ordered guacamole and chips and learned after the fact I'd have to order salsa separately. We were around the area and before getting back home, decided to give them a try. We just got this restaurant back home and had not had a chance to try it. The food was good. We got the Trailer Park, Democrat, Mr. Orange and the hillbilly queso and chips. The protein from each taco was good and tasted great, just the queso was too spicy to be able to eat it (and we like spicy!). Now as for the service... it was bad. No one acknowledged us, the staff was arguing back in the kitchen, the person that needed to take our order seemed annoyed to be at work and unprofessional. We gnarly had yo ask him if he was ready for us and with an attitude barely said yes. Also, the restaurant felt and looked a bit dirty and stuffy, something they need to get in better shape. The only person that was friendly, was the girl that brought out our food. We hope we had a much better experience in the new one at home. read more

I guess I should write a review since we had dinner here 2 nights in a row because we had rebuilding/remodeling decisions to make nearby. First time we stopped in and we definitely liked it because we stopped in again the next night. First night I was super hungry so I ordered the fajita taco and the salmon one (forgot name). They were both very tasty even if they appeared on the small side. They were filling for me. My husband had the crossroads (he had a big lunch earlier) and loved it! Next night I tried the jerk chicken one (forgot name) and husband had 2 Crossroads...suffice to say he loves that one. Our tacos again were very good. Service was great both nights. I wish they offered hard shell tacos (why I took off one star). I do like that you can have your taco on flour or corn tortillas. We did not try any drinks but I may have to stop in someday for happy hour and try one. They apparently have bowls but I did not see them on the menu up high; just mentioned on a sheet at the table. This is my second time here for their taco of the month last months steak taco called the vagabond was a great culmination of flavors the steak was tender and the flavor pairings were perfect this month is the Tokyo drifter teriyaki glazed pulled pork, fried wonton which kinda got lost in the pork, sweet & sour veggie slaw deliciousness , sesame sriracha mayo and cilantro as great toppings. Lately we have been pretty indecisive finding a place to eat. Here's another example of being close by when it seems like a storm is going to come through so we end up eating here. Funny thing is my hubby picked it and many of the options on this menu can have a kick which he more than I can't handle. He ordered the burrito which is the better option for people who don't Iike spicy options. I had two tacos which definitely had a bit of a spicy kick. Not horribly spicy but definitely there. These tacos which were shrimp and chicken were generously filled. Flavorful but definitely had their spicy to them. I did not love it. Ordered churros with Dulce de leche. They were ok. Not so dense like others I have tried but they did crumble when picking them up. They have an app, and when you purchase more they give you coupons and freebies. My husband and I stopped in to Torchy's last night for a couple tacos and some Mexican street corn. The food was barely warm, cheese wasn't melted, the street corn was barely room temperature and it was pretty disappointing for $35 bucks. I would bypass this place and head to Casita Taqueria instead. It was very good with the sauce on it and I didnt add the other sauce that it gave with it The other taco was the Brushfire, its a jamaican jerk style taste. Well, what a nice surprise. I lived outside of Houston for awhile and Torchy's was a place I'd drop in to while shopping in the big city. This is five stars for a fast food place, but a NICE fast food place. I don't know where they find such nice employees in this day and age, but they really do. So nice and helpful. I think I've had every taco on the menu except the salmon just because I don't do salmon and today did not disappoint. Had the Baja shrimp taco along with the fajita beef taco with chips and tomatillo salsa. The tacos came out hot and tasty. I like the tomatillo salsa because some of the others have a little too much bite for me and I like it hot! I also like to taste the fresh ingredients! Glad to see they are here. Yeah, I'm a fan. It's definitely closer to your Mexican taco variety than most American taco joints. Focused around a protein all accoutrements enhance, but do not cover up the main part of the meal. Green Chile Pork (carnitas, green chiles, cotija cheese, cilantro, onions, and lime) - perfect balance of spice from the chiles and great depth of flavor for the pork! Democrat (of course I ordered this! (Beef barbacoa, avocado, cotija cheese, cilantro, onions and lime) - simplicity in a taco. Delicious and flavorful but not over the top. Crossroads (smoked beef brisket, grilled onions, jalapeños, cilantro, avocado and jack cheese) - the least traditional by a long shot, but probably my top pick. My teenager and I were excited to visit this new addition to the Tyrone area in St. Pete. We found the service to be quick and efficient. The location is new, bright, and clean. I love that even though they are somewhat of a fast food restaurant, they have pagers that you sit in the middle of your table so the staff can easily find you. I ordered the "Democrat" aka "Beef Barbacoa" I was disappointed by what I feel was the lack of flavor. By the reviews the average person seems to think they are full of flavor. I also have seen in Facebook food groups people saying stick to Grand Hacienda, saying it's better than Torchy's. I also think GH is equally as bland in flavor as Torchy's...so maybe something is wrong with my taste buds or both of these companies are americanized Mexican food. Which Americans seem to enjoy, but I don't. So there is that possibility. It's me, not you. Try Casitas on 66th and 30th, or better yet, take a drive to Mexico Lindo in Pinellas Park where they don't speak English but put out authentic Mexican tacos and for a lot less $$.
