Bottom Line:  Organized and lovely displays help ease the process of picking out tile. The Tile Shop in Glen Burnie is a great place to visit to get ideas for tiling kitchens and bathrooms. The perimeter of the store features heavily tiled kitchen and bathroom showrooms so shoppers can get an idea about tile size, shape, material, how to mix them in a single space, etc. The middle of the store is where all of the tile options are displayed and nicely labeled. The "meat of the store" is mostly organized by tile type - natural stone, ceramic and porcelain, accent tiles, glass tiles, etc. They are also arranged by color. So you if you know you want black marble all of those options will be together. The signage at The Tile Shop is well done. Each piece of tile I looked at was displayed with a tag that gave the price, material, size, thickness, recommended usage, country or origin and other details like if it was part of a collection. Also, some tile is stocked on site and can be taken home immediately - there is signage for those items too. A final point on signage, today I noticed that they also have stickers on some tile showing what they considered to be "Everyday Value" - the store's favorite budget friendly tiles. Service was friendly and welcoming, not overbearing on my most recent visit. I just wanted to wander the aisles but had I needed help I could see that there were staff standing by ready to jump in. read more

We were looking for glass tile to accent our bathroom. Marjorie Hoxie was a great help, and we found just what we needed. She researched the tile we needed and found it at another store and we received our tile three days earlier than the ordered time. We were able to pick up our tile instead of waiting for the order to be sent to the store. Great customer service. read more

Excellent products and incredibly helpful staff - during the sales process. We bought tile for a bathroom remodel and the (then, since departed) assistant store manager said to go ahead and get the tile even though we didn't have a contractor lined up. This made sense to us so we agreed. When we asked about the return policy, she said just to bring back any extra. Fast forward through getting a contractor with availability during covid and our bathroom looks beautiful, approximately 10 months after we originally purchased our tile. Bringing back the extra tile (combination of excess and changes to the design), we were told that we were outside of the 90 day return window. Looking through the store, the same tile is still available. I offered to return it for half the original cost and the current manager said that he was unable to do so due to differences in dye lots and expiration dates. Expiration dates? Umm...OK. Evidently there is an expiration for Wedi products but not the tile. Ultimately, the management of the Glen Burnie, MD store would prefer the perfectly good tile go to the landfill than end up keeping half the sales price and re-selling it again. I will not go to that store again, nor will I recommend it to anyone else. As I said - they have beautiful products and the staff is great as long as there is a sale to be made. I hope this is the exception rather than the rule, but I guess I'll never know. read more

Terrible place ! I called to the store that I want to return some tiles(5 boxes), they said ok. When I brought it they told me that they do not return on weekend .... I spent half hour and they ignore me and did not help me at all. I will return it tommorow and never come there again , terrible service . Most of all Amazon and Home Depot , Lowe's cheaper and never problem with return. read more

Customer service varies. Some days the folks they have working here are nice othertimes, it seems like I'[m walking into a rehab center. This place appears to hire folks that need a second-chance at life, which I am all for. But these same folks should be happy with the opportunity and present themselves with respect to customer. Instead, they seem bothered by questions... This place does have a great assortment of tile, the displays are nice. Prob one of the best tile stores in Maryland in terms of products. They just need to ensure that their customer service is CONSISTENT. read more

The manager at The Tile Shop in Glen Burnie, Abby, is pretty amazing. She provided first class service to my husband and me. Abby was so kind and patient with us as we had so many changes while planning our master bath renovation. The project was huge and Abby offered so many great options; we probably went "back to the drawing board" a half dozen times for that "just right" look that I wanted. If you need tile for anything, you have got to check out The Tile Shop. They have everything you could want in floor and wall tile, and the grout, adhesive, etc., for your job. I just ordered tile for a bathroom remodel so I speak from experience. First of all, the help provided is wonderful. My designer, Sarah, knew their inventory so well, she was able to pull items that worked together instantly. I needed time to decide the look I wanted, but was never pressured to make up my mind. And Sarah offered suggestions, but mostly when requested, and never to increase my costs. It was a real pleasure working with her. At the same time, I saw other designers working with other customers, and they all were equally as nice and knowledgeable. Finally, the amount and variety of tile is amazing. They have everything from the simple to the most gorgeous, dramatic looks you can imagine. Everything is well displayed. They also have a number of sample bathrooms, and kitchens to help with design ideas. As you can tell, I cannot recommend The Tile Shop highly enough. The worst shopping experience everrrr.. Went to this "store" twice, once by myself, once again with my wife. I'm 6foot 2 inches tall, weighting 290 pounds on a light day, pretty hard to miss, but I found the cloak of invisibility as soon as I walked in the door. Not one sales representative even acknowledged us in the store, not a hi, welcome, can I help you? nothing.. after we walked throughout the place for about 30 to 45 minutes we left, again not a simple acknowledgement that we were there.. I'm doing a major home remodel, and was ready to spend a few thousand dollars on some tiles for the entire home... I don't want to throw out the race card, but we ran into a interracial couple at the near by home depot that we saw in the tile store. They too were completely ignored by the staff... but it seems like the bulk of the staff were heavily engaged with one customer (white woman) who had a dog on a leash (that dog sure did see us). So I guess this is #MAGA in 2018... ignore people of color, cater to dogs. Nice tile in the store, but that tile is still in the store because they really cost themselves a nice sale. I won't be returning to a place that only saw my dark skin and not my green money. I gave 1 star for the tile.. the employees are in the negative.. read more

I asked the salesman where vessel sinks were. He ran to the back. Didn't look back once to see if I was following. We get to the back of the store and all the sinks were 7 feet off the ground. I turn back to ask him a question and he was gone. My wife asked where the salesman was. I said what salesman. We went right back out the store. On the way out, saw the salesman of course on his phone. Shame I like neighborhood businesses and we are fixing to redo our bathroom. Should have known better, parking lot was empty. read more

My husband and I LOVE the Tile Shop on Mountain Road. We purchased the tile for our bathroom renovation there and I've been wanting to review this store for the benefit of others since we made our purchase. The variety and quality of the tile is SO much better than what you can find at HD (next door). And then there's the great staff that helped us there - Josh Hellams, Roy Hellams and Sarah Helsing - all are VERY helpful and VERY patient. They took their time with us, we never felt rushed. We kept finding possibilities but then were back at square one after discussing and considering different factors like color, installation (Michael, my husband, is doing the installation) and tile size. Josh and Sarah weren't bothered by that in the least! They kept encouraging us and helped by offering ideas. They both have GREAT personalities, are very polite, PATIENT, enjoyable to deal with, easy going and professional. Couldn't ask for more from a tile shop: Variety, helpful, polite staff and competitive prices! Paid for samples and were told to return them when ready. However, when we tried to return them we were told that it was beyond 6 months and only the senior vp could override that policy. This policy was not disclosed initially but was apparently on the receipt. It's not about the amount, but about the pointless return limitation on samples and apathetic attitude of the clerk. We'll be taking our business elsewhere and throwing away the samples which are worthless at this point. read more

I had to remodel 2 bathrooms within a 2 week time frame. (Nothing like an impending baby to get fire under your buns.) So needless to say, I've seen every tile store within a 30 mile radius and this one is my favorite. There is a salesman there that follows you around, and it can get really annoying when you are trying to make decisions and someone is just standing over your shoulder telling you not to do it. However, given my experience at the Columbia location, I was happy to have someone notice me. The selection is fantastic and if you fall in love with tile you cannot afford, they actually have cheaper similar looks that the salesman can help you create. We wanted marble but were on a ceramic budget and were able to find something similar to what we loved, but keep it closer to where we felt comfortable spending with the help of the salesman. It can get crowded here and not all of the sales people are well versed on what they sell. So oftentimes you will have to work with more than 1 person to get your order right. However, try and get someone at Home depot or lowes to help you with tile decisions and you will be running back here with open arms! I am taking off 1 star because picking up the tile is a huge pain in the butt. The second your tile is in, they call you. And then they call you every single day until you come and get it. Do they not get paid until your tile is picked up? I don't know, but that constant badgering really started to get annoying when I had to organize a truck/man to go with me. Hopefully I wont have to come back anytime soon as my wallet may never recover. Overall I was very happy with my experience and would come back here first before going elsewhere. read more

The one star is for the beautiful displays. The customer service is terrible. The employees follow you around, and don't leave you alone to look at the displays and narrow your choices. Once you narrow down what you want, they apply a high pressure sales pitch, offering discounts if you order quickly. We decided to place an order here only because we really liked the tile. What they failed to mention was that the tile we chose was going to be discontinued. When our order came in, the trim was 'on back order.' After several calls, they finally admitted that the tile was discontinued, and they couldn't find any trim, but of course, they 'were still looking' for some. We called several more times, (they never called us) and we finally gave up and found another alternative to the trim. We love the tile, but I would strongly recommend shopping somewhere else, where they know something about good customer service. read more

Great selection, great prices, and a friendly staff. They have a greater selection than the big box stores and better prices. We were able to get our tile right after the shipment showed up, instead of having to wait for the shipment to be unloaded and processed. This saved us a half day with our contractor. read more

We met Dave Roberts over a year ago, and explained to him that we were in the early stages of renovating our house in Annapolis. We explained that we would be here several times before we actually purchased the materials. He said he understood and was willing to work with us for as long as the project took. At first, we did not know what we wanted. Different tile for the kitchen and great room, tile for the 3 bathroom floors and walls. David walked us through all of our options. With the project coming to a close, and after hours of choosing, changing our minds, and going in a different direction several times, David has not missed a beat in helping us through the process. With the inside completed , he is now guiding us through the process of selecting an exterior tile to finish our front porch. We never minded waiting for David if he was working with a customer because we knew he would take as much time as was needed when it was our turn,. David's customer service and attention to detail is everything that a homeowner needs to be completely satisfied. When my husband and I went into look at tile, we could not find someone to help us. The rep that finally assisted us was pleasant. We ordered and paid for tile the following Friday. Two and half weeks later we had to call only to find out that the tile was not available. Really?? two weeks? We actually found out through our contractor. Very unhappy!! read more
