We had a very positive experience here. We were hesitant to consider a tile shop due to cost- but you can ask about pricing, price matching, and deals/sales. The tile we saw at other places (Home Depot, Menards) was about the same price point for the nicer stuff at Home Depot, etc, so don't be deterred. Yes, you can spend a TON here but there are reasonably priced options too- and they don't rush you/pressure you. We also called the shop a few times with installation questions and the staff answered all of our questions. Some people noted issues with the return policy- I can't speak to that because we haven't had to return anything yet. The receipt states you can return whatever you don't use- but I recommend asking about that policy since others state they had issues with it. Only one tile arrived cracked and the shop sent a replacement. One box of tile was missing, and the shop immediately sent a replacement for that too. As with any big order, count everything when it arrives and call the shop immediately if needed. read more

Their show room is put together well so it's easy to imagine how things will look. We got great advice on colors, grouts, and some technical aspects that we wouldn't know about. I had an issue with a small box of tile I purchased from them. Even though the box arrived with glue all over the tiles, I decided to keep it as it could be washed away once it was installed. It ended up not working out in my bathroom due to the color difference from how it looked in the store to how it looked in the actual shower. Unfortunately I was a few pieces of tile short of a full box due to an error by the contractor. I was honest with them and ordered several samples (3) in order to fill the box to return it. I was told without them even LOOKING at it, that it was not returnable. So much for being honest. They can charge you a small fortune but won't give us poor homeowners a break when things go bad. I came here to pick out tile for quite a few rooms in my house and met Daniel. He was awesome. He had such good ideas for me as I basically told him what I wanted and what my visions were and he made that happen. He pointed me in the right direction as it can get very overwhelming picking out all the different tiles. Also, the store itself is very nicely organized and everything is very clean making the looking experience also very nice. It didn't feel cluttered but rather everything was in its place. I also know that Daniel gave us good prices for the tile as we're doing 3 bathrooms with him, plus a laundry room and mudroom that also needed tile so that's a whole lot of tile at one time but I feel like he's the person to see if you need help with selection whether you're redoing one bathroom in your house or doing everything at once, he will definitely help you get what you need. Haven't gotten quite to the final installation process so I can't quite vouch to the quality of everything but I'm sure it will all look phenomenal when it's installed and I can't wait for that. This is purely a review for the manager we encountered on our brief stop into the store. My 7 year old son had been playing at the Treehouse next door and was feeling overwhelmed and upset by all the noise, so we took a walk outside to calm down. As we passed the tile shop, he asked if we could go in and look around. Reluctantly, I said yes, thinking the management might be aggravated that I was only there to kill some time with a little kid. A manager greeted us right as we walked in and was as friendly as could be. I explained that we were just stopping in to take a break from all the activity next door, and he encouraged us to take as much time as we needed and enjoy the store. My son actually loved looking at all the model rooms and imagining what might look nice in our house! Then, on the way out, the same manager asked if we had a good time (yes!) and offered my son some catalogues to look at for later, which he was super stoked about! This could have been a total disaster, but the manager made it a really nice experience for us both. After my wife complained that she was sold incorrect size of tile the manager named Helmo insulted my wife and told her never to come back to the store. She came home crying. We still did not receive the refund for the returned incorrect size tile. We bought same tile at " floor and decor" twice cheaper and nice friendly people. Stay away from these crooks. read more

Lovely in-store installations. Good selection of natural stone and glass mosaic. Less so for porcelain/ceramic choices. On the plus side, they sell as open stock, so you can buy by the piece rather than needing to round up to the next carton. read more

Very impressive selection of tiles. I cannot think of any other place that offers so many choices readily available under one roof. If you want to see tons of tiles from all over the world this is the place. Prices are also very reasonable compared to some other places. I found what I wanted - negotiated a very good price and got it. But since it was a granite - it was quite inconsistent in color and I wasn't very happy. Brought it back and had it exchanged at no charge for better matching pieces. Their return policy is fantastic - anything can be returned for any reason for a refund or exchange (as long as you didn't damage it of course). I would give them five stars if I didn't have to exchange those poorly matched pieces - I would prefer better warning about these inconsistencies and help with finding matching pieces BEFORE my purchase. read more

Talked to Daniel and he was great with helping to find the accent tile I wanted and a design for my bathroom. The selection was good except the tile I wanted was not in the Lake Zurich store. So Daniel called a different store in Lombard and arranged for us to pick up which was nice for I really like the tile I got. Going to the Lombard store it is huge compared to the Lake Zurich. This is a good location to find and purchase tile. Their sales staff is knowledgable and customer friendly. I have bought tile there several times with good results. However, recently I ended up needing to return some tile and it took almost 3 weeks to get the refund processed. I returned tile on Oct 1 (they picked it up because it was a full pallet) and it took until today (Oct 18) for the refund to show on my credit card. They were apologetic, of course, but I found that when I called on Oct 13 to inquire about it, nothing had yet been processed. Once that took place, the refund showed in 5 days. But, it shouldn't have been "forgotten" (their word, not mine) for two weeks. So just beware. If you have to return tile, take it to the store in person if you can and make sure the refund is processed promptly. I, unfortunately, was not able to do so. read more

After a horrific experience with century tile in Mt Prospect, I was overwhelmed, tired and under pressure to find the tile and look I wanted for my bathroom which was already gutted. Watch your receipts carefully! The salespeople are not truthful in what the total cost of the order can be. They guarantee that anything can be returned so it is good to purchase extras. I bought into that sales pitch but guess what? When you return the excess, they do not process the return to your credit card for 7-10 days. I had no intention of giving them an interest free loan for 7-10 days. I will never shop there again. read more

So disappointed. Went there and discussed my very first tile project. Salesperson was great (I thought), and helped me order tile. He knew my measurements, but said let's order extra because whatever you don't use, you can "return it". Return it? Great!!! In hind site, I bet he hit his volume bonus. Amazingly, my project was awesome. Horribly, the "extra" was not returnable because the return policy expired, which he never disclosed. He tried to argue with me that he "always" tells everyone the return policy. Then, the very next statement was "I deal with this often" (people trying to return tile after return policy expires). Question: How is it that you "often" deal with people trying to return product AFTER the return policy IF you ALWAYS tell them? He also questioned why would this project take so long? I'm not sure, should I have apologized for not working faster? I won't return. PS...I advise NEVER do what a salesperson suggests. read more

I purchased marble tile from the tile shop and bought all the install products from them as I wanted to make sure my installer used the correct products. I now have $5000 worth of scratched marble tile in my "dream bathroom". My installer called them twice to confirm the grout selection. Since then I have done much reading and consulting marble restoration experts who have all said that they should have never sold me sanded grout. Since then they have not been helpful in remeding the situation. This mistake could cost $20,000 when all fixed since the restoration person told me he can't fix it and it would have to be torn out to make it right. The manager at the store actually laughed at me when I expressed my frustration with the situation. Please beware!!!!!! read more

We were put in a position by our contractor that we needed to have our backsplash for the newly remodeled kitchen, picked out and tile on the site within 4 days. Went to The Tile Shop late on a rainy Friday night hoping to start the search and at least narrow down our selections. Thank goodness for Tricia. She couldn't have been nicer and was extremely patient, walking us through their vast selection. We finally left with 4 selections and on Saturday called Tricia with what we needed. That's where the fun began....she told us the order would be pulled from the warehouse and at the store by Wednesday or Thursday. As I reminded her, we needed tile by Tuesday and suddenly I felt like the project was going to get set back another week or so. Tricia went into action and told me she would call back either late Saturday or early Sunday. We spoke multiple times and by mid Sunday, she had found all of the necessary tile and accessories for me to pick up at a couple of their other locations. In my opinion, Tricia went above and beyond to satisfy a customer and that's the reason we will continue to support this store. On a side note, the other tile shops I picked up at (Schaumburg and Countryside) were all equally as nice as the staff at Lake Zurich. read more
