I've used the Tile Shop in the past and had a good experience. This past summer however was not a good experience. I ordered wall tile and floor tile using the measurements from the contractor. I am not experienced with tile so needed to rely on the salesman at the Roseville, MN location to calculate the amount needed. The contractor ended up with a medical issue and we missed the return window, which yes, was clearly explained to me. When the project was wrapping up I discovered I had 18 boxes of left over tile, more than double the 16 boxes used. The salesman had also ordered another 6-8 boxes that were on back order that I never picked up. All told my order included 24+ boxes of tile that were not needed. I am now stuck with $1820 dollars worth of tile they will not take back due to the salesman's error. I do not recommend the Tile Shop to anyone after my experience. I made 4 calls to customer service before anyone got back to me, and then it was by e-mail. read more

Selection was fine, not the best though. Lots of space to look and staff was willing to let you roam, which could have been nice, but wasn't in our case. Would have preferred more direct interaction. Decided to go with another provider, and although the staff had communicated we had all the time we'd need with the samples, they are as it turns out not in fact returnable after 60 days. read more

We've had wonderful experiences with The Tile Shop in the past for main bath and laundry room renovations, and we always recommended the store for its quality products and excellent service. Not any more. Selections are still good, but the customer service is completely unacceptable. Although we made an online appointment, none of the sales associates was aware of it. Three associates were standing at the front desk (and only one other customer looking around), but no one greeted us with anything approaching enthusiasm or even friendliness. We introduced ourselves as returning customers, but the young woman who helped us couldn't remember our names (15 minutes later) or that we lived out of town and couldn't easily pop back in the store later in the week to pick up samples that weren't in stock. We took some samples home with us and thanked her for her time. Although she told us we were welcome, she never thanked us for our patronage. When we returned the samples and said they would not work for us, she simply turned and walked away. Another associate processed our refund (yes, you have to pay for samples). Standard business practice is to say something like, "I'm sorry these samples didn't work for you, but if we can help you in the future, please let us know." Needless to say, there are plenty of tile stores in the Triangle, and we found two with quality products and outstanding customer service. Based on our selections, we'll be working with one of them instead of The Tile Store for this and all future projects. read more

I am in the early stages of doing a master bath remodel and I'm considering going with tile. So I figured I pop on into this store, get some ideas, see some things that might spark creativity and the only positive thing I can say about my visit is that they have tons to select from, wow some really nice stuff. On the other hand their customer interaction skills need to be improved. Like another reviewer mentioned, several associates standing around but none of them felt the need to interact with me. I don't feel I should be the one to grab someone, I expect some kind of interaction and I would have welcomed it. Yeah, they can forget about getting my business and I'll make sure whatever contractor I use doesn't use them either even if it means paying more. read more

Thanks to Kathleen and her team we've had a couple of very good experiences here. If you want help, it's there for the asking. Lots of people browse here, and leave, and there aren't always enough staff. So, being patient and looking for help will get you a long way. Not impressed. We are doing a bathroom remodel and our contractor told us to come here to look. So we did. After having a great experience at a more mom and pop tile place in Raleigh, we thought that this process would be equally as easy. First of all, there are a ton of staff there that stand around and talk. While we were looking we went to the desk to ask for help. We were told we needed to first provide the name is our contractor with his telephone number before we could be helped. So we gave that information and waited to be "assigned" a designer. Our designer was vocal about not liking my ideas for our bathroom. He also steered us to the most expensive tile in the store, no joke. When we found a tile we liked under a certain amount of money, he said "it's bad quality tile." Then why does your store sell it? He pushed hard to close a sale. He felt more like someone in sales than someone who designs. Pros: you don't need an appointment, you can walk right in. The selection that they have is large, any tile you can think of is there. There are a lot of staff... you can make an appointment online, which I recommend. That might cut down on wait time. Cons: the sales staff push hard. The tile is way more expensive than other places. Be prepared to wait to be helped. Overall we did not have a good experience and we must likely will purchase tile from somewhere else. read more

Our experience with the Tile Shop was nothing short of a nightmare. We were redoing our guest bathroom and went there to select the tile for the shower walls. I put a photo below of the sample we chose (left) and 2/3 of the tile we received looked like the tile on the right. Because I only went through a few tiles in 2 of the 10 boxes we received, I did not realize the magnitude of the issue until it was time to install it. When I contacted our salesperson about the issue, his initial response was that we should have ordered the Firenze Carrera marble because that looked more like our sample. When I told him that was what I did order, the excuse changed to "there is a lot of variation in natural stone" and this was normal. When does "variation" stop and it becomes a totally different tile?? We decided to order 10 more boxes of a different lot number to try to get the 250 tiles needed for the shower. He informed us that he was doing us a "favor" by allowing us to order more to pick the tiles we wanted for the project. He also stated his regional manager was in the store that day and advised him not to allow us return what we did not want and to order more tile to get what we actually wanted. So how exactly are you supposed to get what you want when you order based on an inaccurate sample?? It took another week to get the new tile and then we had to find a new installer that was available to get the job done at that time. Once we started the project again, the new installer informed us that the metal edging we were sold at the Tile Shop was not wide enough to cover the edge of the tile once it was installed. He had to run out to a different store and get us the correct edging strips so he could get started. The only benefit of shopping here is their return policy because we were able to return all of the tile that looked nothing like what we ordered and the metal stripping that was not the correct size for the job. Our experience with inconsistent tile samples, incorrect accessories and being made to feel like we were wrong for trying to get what we actually ordered will take us elsewhere for our next project in the spring. If you are a homeowner with no experience in remodeling like us, I would not recommend that Tile Shop. read more

We are a general contractor who builds custom homes and works with many vendors in the Triangle area. We have never worked with a vendor rep. who is more unprofessional than the one we worked with at The Tile Shop. Not only was he offensive to us, but also to our clients - lying many times to cover errors he made. He was arrogant, disrespectful and condescending. Had appt, provided pics and explained what we were looking for via email at sales rep request. Our appt sales person advised they may be busy but would do best to pull what we needed. Arrived on time. Our sales person was unloading a truck. Another associate greeted us as said he would help......provide ZERO guidance. Never saw "our" sales associate- Had to hunt for the guy who greeted us several times and wasn't customer focused. The Tile Shop of Raleigh has a tremendous selection of tile for every design style and taste. We've done a couple rooms with tile from this shop and have done another room with tile from a privately owned local shop and the overall experience here was much better. First of all, they have convenient hours including both nights and weekends. They have great service with plenty of people available to help. And they allow you to return what you don't use. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to find some tile samples for a upcoming project. It was pretty busy and while we browsed around for almost thirty minutes none of the employees even aknowledged us, even after I awkwardly stood by two different employees hoping they would offer to help after they were done with the other customers... nope. We decide to grab some of the samples we were considering and go to the main desk to purchase, after standing there about ten minutes its our turn. A older man in a suit offered to help, only he didn't know how to help, use the register, or how to get the sky to ring the samples up. Two women were helping other people and told him where to get the info from, what isle it was on, and he left. When he returned and had begun raining us up, a employee barged in uses the computer to ring her customer up and then we have to start over because the man didn't know how to return to the purchase he had started. The most awkward thing was that they had one card swiper machine and at no point did he tell me the total but wanted me to swipe my credit card, the screen was completely black as if it were broken, and the customer next to me was ordering thousands of dollars worth of tile... I asked how I knew what I was agreeing to pay and then he told me the total... before the lost the transaction... yet again. It was time to go.... to another tile place that employees know what they are doing. read more

Getting ready to install kitchen backsplash so I have been shopping around. Yesterday around noon I went here and stayed about 30 minutes. There were less than a half dozen people in the store so needless to say they were not "super busy". I walked through the entire store and not one sales person approached me. I saw several tiles I thought would go with my granite so I went out to my car, got my sample and came back in with it. I walked past their main desk at least twice no one acknowledged me. I went back to the wall tiles to look again. Several sales people saw me but no one ever acknowledged I was even in the store. I saw some nice tiles but I doubt anything I can't find somewhere else. Probably won't buy from here because they obviously don't care whether or not they have my business. read more

Little did I know that the sleek and shiny pattern I thought would look so good behind my Keurig cost more than my first car. Design Consultant Monique to the rescue. We used to buy tile here regularly but on our last visit it took 5 weeks to get our complete order. The order was not filed correctly, then the warehouse dropped a box of tile, then it was delivered to the billing address instead of the shipping address, then the order was delivered incompletely. We were assured our missing box would be expedited but it took over a week to get it. Seems like there is a mismanagement problem with this company and their delivery service. read more

The associate that helped me was polite but when picking up materials from the warehouse an employee was playing music. EVERY song was a litany of f-bombs. While searching many places for backsplash I found The Tile Shop on Glenwood. I had been to the usual Lowes, Home Depot which had very limited choices and when I did find one I like they were out of it. Not to mention that there was never anyone around to ask questions. Arriving at the tile shop I had an idea in mind what I wanted and a picture of my granite to go with it. When available one of the sales people asked several questions and pointed out a tile I wouldn't have thought of. I showed him what I was thinking and he explained the reasons I didn't want to go with that one. I was a little skeptical about his choice but in the end decided to go with it. It looks amazing! I needed tile within a week for a bathroom remodel and called this place to find out if they had any tile 'in stock.' They told me by phone (on Tuesday) that they could have anything I needed by Thursday, so I drove over immediately. Once there, the sales people hedged a bit, but continued to say that -- for a $125 rush fee -- I could still get the tile I needed by Thursday. This didn't seem unreasonable, so I picked out a very simple, white wall tile and a simple floor tile, which they ordered and I paid for. It's worth noting that I already had a sample for the wall tile from another store that The Tile Shop was able to match, but at twice the price per sq. ft. I pointed this out to the manager, who helpfully marked it down by 25%. Needless to say, it was still quite more expensive than the other place, which I had only abandoned because they couldn't get the tile before the following week. I called the store on Thursday and encountered some confusion on the other end as to whether or not my order was actually in. Eventually, I was told that all but 10 tiles were on hand and that the others were en route via UPS and would be in on Friday morning. I went to pick up the order so that my remodel team could get started. This process seemed surprisingly disorganized, but I got most of my order. When I called back on Friday, the first person I talked to said she was pretty sure the missing tiles would arrive on Saturday. I asked her if she could track the UPS shipment to tell me with certainty, which seemed to confuse her and she asked if she could call me back. Not having heard back, a few hours later I drove to the store again. Still, no one seemed sure where my tiles were or when they would arrive, and a confused sales rep tried to persuade me to take differently shaped tiles in the same color, which my installer said would not work. As of this writing, I still have no idea if or when the rest of my order might arrive. Fingers crossed that it is sometime this weekend. I asked the manager to refund my rush fee, by the way, and was told that she could refund half of it, but not the whole thing, which is not the level of professionalism one expects from a national chain. I guess I should have read the Yelp reviews before visiting. read more

We just purchased a 4000+ sf house in Brier Creek. I was planning on redoing the kitchen and 2 of the baths. Looking at a budget of several thousand dollars for floors/walls. I walked into the tile shop at 2pm on Tuesday, walked around for more than 20 minutes and not one soul working there bothered to even acknowledge my existence with a hello. Several of staff were talking amongst themselves, not busy with customers so there is no excuse. I will take my business and money elsewhere and when anyone asks about my new kitchens or bath I will be certain to share my poor experience at the tile shop. read more

My first and last experience at the tile shop. I was totally ignored by the sales staff even though there were as many salespeople as customers. When I did finally see a salesperson, I noticed that all were engaged in frivolity and oblivious to the few customers that were in the store. To start I had multiple tile installers tell me they wouldn't except the job because I was using tile from this store. I received an email saying my tile was ready for pick up on a Saturday afternoon. I responded to the employee to let her know I would be picking up the following Saturday morning. She proceeded to email me 2 times a day for the entire week! We went Saturday to pick up the tile and they only had half our order and said we could take that and the remainder we could pick up the following week sometime. We cancelled our order and went elsewhere! I would never go there again! read more

I wish there was a way to give negative reviews on Yelp. The staff for the most part is friendly at this location, but that is ALL this national chain has going for it. Will NEVER do business with The Tile Shop again. The markup at this place is ridiculous. Act apprehensive at initial quote and they will discount by 25% if you look like you're going elsewhere. After discount it was still pricy compared elsewhere, but my wife really wanted the particular tile she saw there, so I reluctantly agreed. After no call to tell me order had arrived or was held up, I verified over the phone that the order had indeed arrived only to find it had only partially arrived and most of it was in damaged pieces. As it stands right now, I overpaid for a bunch of cracked tile and am still waiting for the rest of it to show up two weeks later. Communication is horrible at this place. DO NOT expect any communication initiated on their end, and expect to be empty handed with nothing but apologies for weeks. Their inventory, POS, and shipping systems will leave you wishing you had skipped doing business with this place altogether! read more

Read these Yelp reviews before you enter this tile store. I wish I had done so myself. There is a recurring theme to the reviews and that is there is no follow through once you have paid. We had great customer service when we first ordered and told that the tiles were stock items. Almost Two weeks later than the date I was told they would be available and the whole order is still not here. I have very unhappy clients and a very unhappy tile guy. Money is being lost and I have to continually call the store myself with no solid answers given. They even charged me $193.00 to ship tile from another store when they told me they had it already. I had to ask for that money back because I still have not seen the full order. There were also mess ups with the grout and other mixtures that I was supposed to have and paid for. I feel like I am being the pain when I call again and again to see where the order is that I was promised. I would not go back to this store again. It needs new management and they need to be upfront with their promised time frames that are never accurate. Extremely disappointed for sure read more
