The workers here shine as bright as the tile they are selling. In the beginning they did offer free shipping to my home. Once they realized how far away we were from this store they seemed to regret the offer. We did offer to pay but they never did bring the tiles to our home. Even though they said they would. Luckily I have my own pickup truck and was able to see this beautiful store in person. If you are buying from this place make sure they know how far away you are before ordering anything make sure you use your credit card that way if they are not able to deliver your order you can contest it. Basically be an adult. And don't be afraid to check this place out in person. I was shown nothing but RESPECT today and skill. The man running the counter got me sorted out lighting fast and the forklift drive is a damned good at what he does. The entire experience for me was an honor. read more

Charles was my salesperson in Rockville and incompetent and uncaring are just the beginning. He messed up my original order and didn't bother to let me know. Had I not caught the mistake he never would have contacted me. He promised delivery on Wednesday and when the shipment wasn't on the truck he didn't do anything about it. After I called twice He later located the tile at another store and promised me it would arrive AT MY HOUSE by noon the next day. When I called to cancel after never receiving the delivery- and not having it when my contractor was at my home- I learned the replacement shipment was sent to his store instead of my house. Of course Charles never contacted me. Lilly handled my call and cancelled the order and issued a refund. She was delightful. However- based on the experience I suggest NEVER shopping at the Tile shop because it appears they have lots of incompetence. read more

Finally after an hour of looking and scratching my head, I decided on a tile that checked all the boxes. Sales person Jasmine had been so patient during it all.Checked on the tile in stock a couple of times. Then we moved to the grout. Again, after some time, it was decided which one worked. Friday a statment was printed out and I was to get back once I spoke with the contractor. Emails were exchanged for a Tuesday morning pickup. Once inside I paid the total, thanked Jasmine for her help and backed my truck up to the dock. After waiting a bit I went inside to learn that only one carton of tile was ,indeed, in stock and the grout was no longer stocked at all. Tile could come by Saturday and I should look at a different grout color. I cancelled the order. So many times, these days, you just don't feel like a customer any longer. We wait for service. Many times with inexperienced people. Interruptions have become common in stores. And well, cell phones and employees. So yes, I'm disappointed, a little pissed about it and no one cares but me. Unless you are going into a high priced location shopping, forget about being a valued customer. read more

Had a very good experience here. Our tile is on order so it's possible my impression may change. i will leave an update if indicated. Kellen (their sales rep) was knowledgeable and was very helpful helping us find what we were looking for. He had some installation tips as well. I never felt pressured to upgrade. I called back a few days later to tweak our order and he patiently listened to my questions. I believe their selection is the best in the area. They are a big pricey, but they offered a 15% discount with 18 months same as cash. i would definitely return! read more

The selection was okay, but when it came time to buy, the checkout process was agonizingly slow. The special order grout wasn't delivered when promised, required an extra trip. We ended up buying some extra tile to be sure there was enough to do the job, and when we tried to return the extra that wasn't needed, the sales person assured us we could. When I went to the store, they refused to take the extra back, despite assurances, they would. I asked for the manager to help out, and he said he would call me back within a day or two to see if they could provide a store credit. It's been four weeks and I haven't heard back from anyone. Poor service and less than honest dealings deservedly lower the ratings of what otherwise is a store with high potential. read more

We were greeted by Mr. Franklin Romero and he assisted with a great selection after listening to our design ideas and functionality were wanted. Mr. Romero's expert design experience and recommendations exceeded our expectations. We could not achieved our vision without his help. He brought to our attention pro's and con's of our design ideas and identified some obstacles we had not thought of. DO NOT GO HERE! It has a great selection of beautiful tile, but it is EXTREMELY way over priced for what it is, and the customer service is subpar. The sales associates are commissioned based, and it clearly shows. I was repeatedly threatened that I had to "act now" or "order immediately". Every time I asked for quotes, the pricing kept changing. When she realized that the tile I had wanted was backordered, she told me that she could get it from multiple distribution centers at no extra cost, but that it "would be a lot of extra work". I asked her to go ahead and do this, and then she added extra charges of $50 per distribution center to the order. Then she told me if I just ordered it as "backordered", I would get it by June 18th, so that's what we did. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. Apparently they purposefully do not stock enough of the tiles, so many of their orders are "backordered". They put you in a queue, and if it lapses more than 4 weeks, your purchase order is no longer visible in the system. This is what happened to us, and after we were told that we would have to wait another 4 weeks (9 weeks total), we had enough and cancelled the order. We went to FLOOR AND DECOR instead and got real marble for half the price. The designers at FLOOR AND DECOR are also more knowledgeable and more helpful (they're also not working off of commission). read more

I came here to pick out tiles for a bathroom renovation. If you don't know what you're looking for yes, this place is completely overwhelming. The first time I stopped here, the 2 employees (and there was only one other customer there) were too busy chatting to help me and just pointed to the entire store when I asked them to help me narrow down tiles for bathrooms. The second time, it was a packed Saturday and we were helped after 5 minutes of perusing ourselves. Justin was very helpful and patient as I made faces at the tiles I didn't like and jumped at the ones I did. It's best to come here with an idea of what you are looking for. They def. have more help than Home Depot or Lowes and more selection. read more

Terrible customer service attitude from store manager Chris Delaney. Chris wanted to have police officer to escort me out of the store when we had disagreement in returning of the trims after I spent $6000.00 at this store and wanted to calculate my open order from this store. This store manager Chris Delaney refused my return of trims purchased 8 months ago. His reason was that the trims would not match the tile shade now. But I found out those trims matched the tile exactly. I asked Chris why it would not be returned if they still match the tile shade. He then lost his control and threatened me to call police to escort me out of the store. I told him I had other stuff which was eligible to return ( purchased 4 months ago) and I had an open order I haven't pick them up yet. He then wanted to cancel my open order and have his guys to call police office to walk me out of the store. I purchased more than $6000.00 tiles and accessories materials from this store. Those return maybe around $200.00 and the store manager Chris Delaney wanted to have police office to escort me out of the store and wanted to cancel my open order. I don't know how Chris Delaney was qualified to be the store manager. But obviously he was not well trained and not professional as a role model of all customer reps in this store as a store manager. read more

Fatima who works in the Rockville location was a dream to work with--competent, organized, pleasant, patient and responsive. I worked with her on a shower redo and even with a relatively small project there are a zillion choices and design options (and visiting the showroom was both inspiring and overwhelming). The selection and displays in this store are amazing. I assumed I would go to The Tile Shop just for ideas, but decided to buy my subway tile from them. It was my first time completing a tile project so it would have been helpful to get more feedback from the sales rep. For example, Mical, my sales rep. Helped me find the tile, but didn't share I needed more tile for edging. We didn't discuss grout or caulk color either. I wish I wasn't rushing around to find the additional tile on the day my contractor arrived to install the backsplash in my kitchen. This isn't a mark against the store, but in the future it would be helpful for their sales reps to ensure the customer has everything he/she needs to complete a tiling project. read more

Eddison was phenomenal. He went over the top in ensuring we made the right decision in choosing our tiles and backsplash. A very intelligent gentleman with a perfect eye for kitchen design! Even when my sister changed her preferences about 15 times, Eddison was a professional and always had great input for everything we were looking at. The actual store was pretty amazing as well because they have so many options and you feel comfortable knowing you don't have to look elsewhere, but without a doubt what earned them our business was having team members like Eddison! I'm a huge fan of The Tile Shop after purchasing tile for our kitchen backsplash, a guest bathroom and master bathroom remodel. We found that the store was well organized and had plenty of options. Everything was on display and clearly marked so we knew what could go where (wall, floor, etc). Staff in general are friendly and available but happy to leave you to browse as you like. There are also a lot of displays to get ideas. We love the tile we picked! (In the past, we tried another local tile shop and staff weren't ever available, less was on display, and it just wasn't the same experience at all). We especially enjoyed working with Morgan. She gave us space to think through everything and discuss, but also offered valuable suggestions. She really knew the products in the store- and I learned a LOT that I didn't know I didn't know... from tile types to grout types to caulk types. Morgan also understands the installation process and explained it to us clearly. I'm not the best decision maker, but with Morgan's help with our bathrooms I felt comfortable placing my tile orders. The Tile Shop is a great option in the DMV area and this store is lucky to have Morgan on staff. I would certainly recommend the store, and Morgan's help in particular, to anyone interested in purchasing tile in our area. read more

Had a great experience at The Tile Shop. The selection of tile was excellent, and prices seemed very fair... there definitely a range of products to cover all budgets. We picked out one tile that we liked, and then Nick masterfully chose two other complimentary tiles and put the whole room together. I was so thrilled with the experience. We had previously visited three other tile stores and two big-box stores, and had not found anything we liked that was reasonably priced. The store is beautiful with a generous tile selection from bathroom to kitchen. It is very appealing to the eye, especially with the infinite displays to give you ideas. The price range fits all budgets, and as I mentioned previously, the selections are wonderful. You are guaranteed to have a unique tile for whatever project you plan on completing. Now, the reason for 3 stars reflects on the lack of proper store management. It is obvious the sales associates work on commission. You are stuck with the same sales person even for simple things such as returns. The moment something does not go on plan you are easily dismissed, which infuriated me after multiple trips to the shop and hundreds spent. For DIYers, only do the project if you are experienced. For first timers, do not count on their free Saturday morning class as it is not taught properly and you do not get the hands on practice needed. Safe yourself the mental hardship and invest in a good contractor. In all, though I had many frustrations, I would likely invest in their tiles again, because the selection is beautiful. read more

DO NOT BUY THE GROUT THAT THEY WILL TRY TO SELL YOU (brand name is Superior). They lied to us that their grout is better than Home Depot so we went for it and now they don't even have the unsanded caulk that we need. We have to use caulk from another store and the color won't match. They kept beating around the bush and never gave us a straight answer. Great selection of tile, but on the expensive side. We were happy with the product but completely dissatisfied with the customer service. We understand it's Covid, however Covid doesn't cause someone to lie to you about a return policy. Nor does it cause you to blame your coworker for the "confusion." For a high-end store, they have very low standards for service, unless you are spending a boat load of money. I am a contractor and the key to this place is dealing with the right salesperson. Good pricing and selections. Not super high end but definitely above mid grade. I use Nick in Rockville and I tell all my clients to use Nick. Why because when stuff goes down hill he will help. He is not pushy, very knowledgeable and he knows how to treat people kindly. DON"T SHOP HERE! I will start with the good: great selection of tile, nothing you'll see at Home Depot. Prices are more than HD, but you are getting a more unique product that better fits your taste. Now, the problem is getting a salesperson to help you. Fine if they're not busy, but if you have placed an order previously, they make you deal with your previous salesperson. So if that person is dealing with other customers, you have to wait for them to become available, even if other salespeople aren't busy. If your salesperson is not there, then you can deal with whomever. Next is their screwy credit card charging system. For some reason, the credit card swiping machine is not hooked up to their computer system. So the salesperson can enter in whatever amount they want into the machine, which one time, was over $20 more than what my invoice was. Finally, they are inconsistent with how orders are placed. Some salespeople have you pay for the whole order when you place it. Others tell you to wait until you pick it up. This is a huge problem! In my case, I ordered 2 boxes of tile. One came in, the other didn't. I picked up the one box, but since it had all been paid for in advance, the store assumed that the other box had already been picked up and "closed" the order. I waited a month for the second box of tile, then when I called the store to find out why it hadn't come in yet, I was told that I had already picked up the whole order. The manager couldn't have been more rude and argumentative. I had to raise my voice to him in order to get any kind of resolution to this issue. He didn't care that I had receipts, etc...He finally said he would just "give" me another box of tile. Well I hope so, since I paid for it! The other problem worth mentioning is the tile takes FOREVER to come in. They always tell you it will be about a week, and that they have delivery trucks coming 3 days a week. My typical wait time (I placed several different orders) was about 3 weeks. It would be nice if I would have been told that, rather than making arrangements a week or 2 out thinking I would have my tile by then. There is a different tile store on Boiling Brook drive in Rockville. I have never been there, but its worth a shot. I can't imagine it could be worse than this nightmare. read more

We ordered our tiles from Sean at Tile Shop in Rockville...he was extremely knowledgeable about tiles and bathroom renovations. He asked us what kind of vanity we ordered and the color and size. From that he was able to make great recommendations...we ordered $1000 worth of tile from him. He gave a sweet discount and he followed up with calls and also free delivery. If we could we would give him 5 star but the place itself is only worth 3 so we had to average. The selection is not great if you are looking for a lot of variety or specialty tiles. We did a very basic tile so it was OK for us. The prices were reasonable and we had a budget. I wanted to add some accent tiles but they only had the standard stuff available, however we ended up with a really nice dark brown. read more

First timers at The Tile Shop. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by Salim. My husband and I were all over the place with so many ideas for our bathroom so we clearly looked overwhelmed. Salim asked if we had an idea of what we wanted and we went from there. An hour later we narrowed our ideas to 3 options, then 2 options and finally down to a bathroom design that made us both happy. As someone that has worked in sales I know personally the time it takes to go over options, draw up quotes and work with budgets. When looking for tile to renovate a half bath, Nicholas was able to pull up my purchase record from almost 5 years ago when we did a full bath. My phone call was just exploratory, but within minutes, Nick had emailed me details about what I'd ordered previously. Once I had dimensions, we exchanged email a couple more times, I was offered a nice repeat customer discount, and the tile was ordered and delivered to my door within a week...all without me visiting the store. The selection is awesome (including lots of mock kitchens and bathrooms that give you cool ideas) and Justin at the Tile Shop in Rockville was wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful. Gave me his personal email in case I needed to reach him on his days off, helped me find a good tile installer, helped me save money while also buying the gorgeous glass tile I really wanted. I visited ANOTHER tile store where they were unhelpful and uninformed. This was the happy opposite. And there's another reward for schlepping out to Rockville: an Indian grocery store in the same shopping center as the Tile Shop, with a great stock of ingredients. Yum. read more

We have done several tile projects and in the past, the staff has been helpful. Lately not so much. It's become obvious that they work on commission because the sales staff stands around like vultures at the door and if you're only buying support products they will point you in the right direction and then disappear. I stopped in for grout today and there was no one at the main counter but after a few minutes, Bob and some customers he was working with came up. Bob made eye contact with me (it was obvious that I was waiting for someone to help me) but when he finished with his customers, he noticed another young couple looking at tile so he turned around and walked away after them. It was obvious that I was spending $30 and he was not about to lose a potentially more lucrative customer in order to ring me up. I will be avoiding the tile shop for future projects. read more

Wow, what a store. It's like a supermarket for tile. They have thousands of options, and the prices are good for the kind of high-quality tile they've got. The only thing that I didn't like was that all the tile was in the same color family: beige, cream, white, off-white, maybe some brown and then the natural stone colors. I didn't see any vibrant colors, and I was told that they only have tile from their own quarries. So I guess that's good, but it limits the color selection. I'm still going to order this awesome polished marble tile that they call Onyx. It's unbelievable. read more
