After going to different tile shops we did end up buying from here. Adam was very helpful. They do have quality products and stuff you won't find elsewhere. They are pricy but you get what you pay for. The only thing we didn't find here was floor tile for our shower. Be very careful when ordering tile with them. The sales people will convince you to buy tons of extra, saying you can return any left overs after project is completed. Horrible customer service!!! My wife and I walked in the store and browsed for over 45 min. Never once was greeted or asked if we needed help. Employees were walking by me or at their desk on their phones. Beautiful store but my new house will NEVER have anything purchased from this store. We had a great experience buying floor and wall tile from the Tile Shop for a kitchen and bathroom remodel. We love our choices in the end, and appreciated the ability to bring pieces home and return them as needed. We are especially thankful for working with DJ who was fantastic. He is such a nice person, but also incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We were at the store many times making decisions, and each time, DJ was attentive and patient. He has a great sense of color and taste, and he offered very valuable and helpful suggestions and opinions when asked. On some of our visits, Kiri also provided valuable suggestions and recommendations. We appreciated her input as well. The tiles we chose were available to us within a week, but they were willing to store them until needed, and that was appreciated as well. We recommend this store! read more

I've been there 4 or 5 times now, not just browsing, but seriously shopping for 2 projects. Only one time did anyone approach me and offer assistance. There were no other customers and 3 or 4 people working. It's really a shame because they seem to have an interesting selection, but their initial customer service was so bad that I would never trust that placing an actual order would be anything but problematic. read more

Really crappy customer service!!!! We arrived 10 minutes before closing they were just about to lock the doors but let us In . We let them know that we were aware that they were closing soon and just wanted to look at a few things. The person helping us rush us from display to display talking and walking really fast. We did not see anything we liked that he showed us , we said we would just look around. Nice product selection. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will not return. I reviewed the products I was interested in purchasing online before entering the store. I budgeted several thousand dollars for my renovation project but had several design and installation questions for a store associate before I made my purchase. I entered the store around 4:30 PM on Saturday. I browsed the store for 30 minutes, walking past several associates who were looking at their phones or on a computer. No one greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. While I could have asked for help, I decided to leave and take my business elsewhere. read more

I was excited to see the new displays in the Tile Shop in Ann Arbor and I wasn't disappointed. Beautiful showers, kitchen backsplash, and two fireplace displays. I walked the complete store pricing out the stone I needed for my fireplace project waiting for what I thought was the only sales person. Finally after 35 mInutes I thought I'd do one final walk towards the back where I found a large desk with a female on a computer with the manager standing behind her looking on laughing. He was not happy I interrupted him and was not very courteous about my asking any questions. I'm sure his peeps from Brighton see a different side of him. My recommendation is to make sure you have knowledge before going in this store. You can't expect much in the way of expertise here. It's a shame as the tile is absolutely gorgeous. read more

This is definitely a store to avoid. The sales people are all very high pressure -- all they want is to get a commission, and they'll tell you anything to make you buy fast. They are in terrible need of a customer service overhaul, from a training and systems perspectives. Their people, from sales, management, and warehouse do not talk to each other well or consistently. What makes it even worse is...No one seems to care! Not only do i continue to get the run around and lack of accountability from anyone i deal with, not a single person in the now 7 staff across 3 different locations i have dealt with has even offered me an apology for this experience. My recommendation, if the product you want is not already in the store on site, keep looking for a different product. They will waste your time and resources with trying to track it down or ordering from another location/warehouse. read more

See Kiri for excellent service. I needed grout to match an existing installation. The sales guy basically blew me off and said I had to chip some grout off before he could help me and walked away. Kiri understood my plight and looked up my job on line and found it after a few tries. A shout out to Kiri!!! The service here is terrible. First time I came I waited 45 minutes on a Saturday during a "busy time" where there were three people working that I could see. Had to come back due to broken tiles and waited another 45 minutes with an empty store and 3 workers walking around. All this after taking to someone who I was told was a manager. Products are great and staff if knowledgeable. Prices are high so just buy the tile and maybe the stain free grout. Update: Had a great talk with the store manager John. He was very understanding and reasonable. He is going to look into my concern. I was informed that the expectation is to help customers in less than 10 minutes. read more

We went here looking for a subway style tile for the kitchen floor. They were out of stock of our first choice, but gave us our second choice tile (which was more expensive) for the price of our first choice. I thought that was awesome. And, frankly the only reason it was our 2nd choice was because it was more $. The guy who helped us wasn't pushy, but helpful. I agree that you can buy tile cheaper in other places, but there is sometimes a difference in quality. We could have bought some supplies else where for cheaper, but it was convenient to get everything in one place and I felt ok about it since they discounted the tile. Additionally, the staff that I spoke with was much more knowledgeable than those I spoke with at Home Depot when I called to ask questions later on down the line. read more

Wow, as an interior designer, I was completely disappointed when going to this store. Their customer relation is nonexistent. The first person who approached asked us if we could have any help. I pulled out a tile my client and I were looking into and started to ask if they had something similar. Before I could even finish my question he was shaking his head telling us they had nothing like that. Funny thing is, we found two or three very similar things there. That, to me, means that they don't care about their customers and want the money only. Since we were 'do it yourselfers', they didn't want that business. I've seen better service out of Lowe's or Home Depot. I left the store thinking "Gee, they really must not care about client." It wasn't only this poor customer interaction that cause me to write this poor review. Whereas they have some unique (Yet extremely overpriced) specialty tile, their selection is rather bland when it comes down to it. For being a specialty shop, they don't seem to cater to much variety. Certainly, there are better places than this. read more

My first visit to the The Tile Shop was on Black Friday. I had just started my search for tile for the backsplash in my kitchen and I met Josh who patiently answered all my questions. He mentioned that they had a sale that day, but not in a pushy way. I took home a couple of samples, then returned the next day to pick up a few more. Once again, Josh was very knowledgeable and helpful. I compared the prices to another title store and to several internet sites and found them to be in line with what everyone else was charging. On Monday on went in to return the samples and was assisted by Nathan who placed my order and without my even asking offered the Black Friday discount becasue that was the day I had taken home the samples. Ordering the tile was literally the easiest part of this whole ordeal. Ordered on a Saturday, was told it would be in Thursday night or Friday, to expect a call. Thursday and Friday came and went, no call. I called Saturday morning for them to tell me they couldn't locate my order, they would call me back. Finally hours later, I called them again. They claimed my order was mistakingly shipped to the wrong store, said they would call me back shortly to make sure the other site got it. They call back to tell me yup it's in Farmington, you can pick it up there! WHAT?! That's an hour away, sure I will go get it, why not. I call the Farmington store to clarify it is there, guy says let me check my stock (meaning the other Ann Arbor store never called them) he says yeah I have 7 boxes... I needed 6, told him the situation and said I would be there the following day to get it. He says ok, I will dig it out! That statement also showed that it wasn't shipped there on accident, it had been there all along. They also said I would get a print out of the tile pattern lay out so I could easily lay it out. Well it didn't come with one, so I called them back. Guy on the phone says oh just go to our website and search it, you'll see the picture. Oh why thank you because that tiny ass photo on your website helped me so much with my 50 sq ft bathroom layout. Never again will I shop there. We just spent 30 minutes browsing in this store, which had about 3 other customers and at least 5 staff, and no one ever acknowledged us. There were cobwebs, and dirty tubs and sinks in their displays. There is no way we'll shop at this store again. read more

No one approached us for a good 30 minutes, but was finally asked if we needed help by Tyler, who seemed to be high as a kite. He couldn't keep eye contact and asked open ended questions that didn't make sense. He also was trying to see if we were "qualified" to buy tile by asking what we did for a living, then immediately asked if we were managers. I found this place has limited & bland tiles, which were all overpriced by at least 20%. I've seen similar mosaic tiles selling between $6-9/SF at Home Depot, but they were asking $20/SF. This is one of the better tile stores in Michigan. The store is set up so that it is easy for anyone to envision a project. They have a huge selection of tile and natural stone. I found the sales people were very professional and polite. I have not found a tile store yet with prices that could touch The Tile Shop. I have done many projects with them and I will do more in the future. I would recommend this store to anyone in need of tile. read more

Love this store...this is our second return trip to remodel a bathroom. The sales guys are very helpful and knowledge ---they take a lot of time to show you how everything will look. I was able to find some good tile at a resonable price. They also connected me with an installer who did good work on our fireplace. We did have alot of broken tiles which delayed the project but the store was fair with taking them back and crediting them for replacement. read more

As an experienced tile man, I would buy tile there but nothing else. Their grout and related products are made by some mysterious company called "Superior Chemical Products, Ottawa Lake, MI" which, according to directory assistance, does not exist. Their "Pro Grout" is very difficult to work with, sets up on the tile way before the joints are ready to finish. I was using colored grout which turned white after it set. Thinking this was a haze problem, I went back and got their haze remover (dummy me, very expensive) which did nothing. Since I thought I had removed the haze and the color came back when the grout was dampened, I went ahead and applied their penetrating sealer. Looked great until that dried, then everything was white again. The store manager gave me a bottle of grout colorant, which was nice of him, but that's not going to work until the sealant is removed. I called Tile Shop customer service who told me an acid wash would remove the sealant. Nope. The right answer is buying tile grout and associated products from a non-proprietary, nationally recognized company. I have had good luck with the Poly Grout and Miracle Sealant products from Home Depot. My experience with Tile Shop products has cost me a lot of time and money and embarassed me in front of my customer. read more
