This is a coffee and sandwich shop that does those tasks very, very well. They also sell a smattering of gifty items. Our visit was a stop while in the area on a cycle ride. Coffee sounded good on this cool day. After walking in we saw that they also did some food, mostly sandwich type items. We decided to give those a try as well. The very friendly (genuine) staff made suggestions based on our likes and we ended up with a couple variations of turkey sandwiches. My wife had the Turkey Gobbler which was basically the regular sandwich w/cranberry sauce added to it. She also chose the potato salad as the side. She liked both quite a bit. I had the regular turkey sandwich with a chipotle sauce added. I also had the potato salad. The sandwich was piled with just the right amount of turkey and veggies and the sauce was spicy but not hot. Both sandwiches were piled between haves of a ciabatta bun. The potato salad was also very good. My wife also had a mocha which she enjoyed. The interior is set up as a cafe/gift shop and there is plenty of elbow room. There were about 5-6 four place tables as well as a couch for just kicking back to relax. When in the area we'll certainly stop in for another visit.

    My empty plate :)

Food was pretty good and the outdoor seating was nice and quiet. Service was decently quick as well.

The place was not very busy for a Wednesday. The service was absolutely horrific. Everyone was served drinks in a reasonable amount of time. After about 25 minutes the blonde waitress finally came back to check on us. She asked if anyone wanted more drinks but did not take orders. She brought 2nd drink orders about 10 minutes later and took orders. After another 20 minutes a few orders were delivered. A few more orders came out 10 minutes later. Mine and my 4 year-old grand-daughter's order had still not arrived by the time most had finished their meals. Blonde finally brought out my orders of wings after I complained and offered to take them off my bill. I told her I no longer wanted them as everyone else was finished. About 5 minutes later my grand-daughter's food was delivered. We had to ask for it to be put in a to-go box. Then came the bill, which was divided 3 ways and included a gratuity of 20%. I asked about the 20% gratuity as I had no intention of leaving any tip for the bad service. I was told because of the "large group" the 20% was added. Mind you, I refused my food because it was brought out after everyone had finished eating. There was no offer to remove the gratuity. There was no apology, only excuses that the service was so slow because of how busy they were. Again it t was a Wednesday, they were not busy. This is the worst experience I have ever endured in my many years of dining out. I will never come back and caution others who consider dining here. Brian

In…read morethe past two years I have tried several well recommended spokane cafes that were all great, tasty, and slightly more expensive than I would like. Hatch beaker + burr transcends all of these. I never expected that I would find one of the best lattes I've ever tasted in Spokane of all places after being a Portland/Seattle coffee elitist. The seasonal dulce de leche iced latte was so strong in the best way and brought me back to life with how flavorful it was. Seven dollars even and worth every penny. You can see in the attached photos that I really tried to get every drop of the drink. It was so good that I got another latte to go (cardamom), also so so good. Everything else: cute space with lots of plants and two tables (but other seating available in the commons), barista who is clearly very knowledgeable about every part of the coffee and actually likes making the drinks. Really nice service and you get updated on your drink even when it's busy which is nice, I've never had that in other cafes. I really can't reiterate how amazing this coffee was. Must try if you have not, and if you have you definitely already know.

I just prefer something sweeter and smooth. Rosemary Staccato: 3.5/5

I ordered the Fig Sandwich and the Fancy Pants Sando because I could not decide between the two as they both sounded very unique in different ways. I called the place up and arranged to come pick the food up. The person on the phone was very thoughtful in keeping in mind at what time I would arrive so he could arrange for the sandwich to be toasted at the right time. I appreciate small details like that. When I arrived, I noticed there were several tables and a bar where you can essentially get brews and food. I noticed they had several beers on tap which I was very curious about, but unfortunately did not have time to sit down and eat at this establishment. The person at the bar was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. The two sandwiches came up to $40ish. I brought the sandwiches home and first tried a few bites of the Fancy Pants Sando. I will have to say it was the better of the two sandwiches. I appreciated the goat cheese in the sandwich and the mix of different ingredients, but it was not something I would consider to be a great sandwich, at least not for me. Others might find it pleasant, but I did not care for it much. The fig sandwich was the one I was more excited about and expected some sweetness to be cut down by the bacon. I don't think it was a perfect balance between the two, and I got a tad much of the overwhelming sweetness of the figs in this sandwich. Again, others might enjoy it, but I didn't care for it. I really wanted to give this place a great review, but unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The beer looks fun though and might be a good reason to give this place a try, and you may enjoy their sandwiches and many people have. For me, that's a no-go.

Indaba didn't just check the boxes, it made me wonder why every coffee shop doesn't operate this way. Walk in and the space stops you. Exposed brick, warm wood, art on every wall, and a ceiling that opens up the whole room. The seating runs from cozy couches to high tops to proper tables. no bad seat in the house. Outlets everywhere. A conference room available to rent. Whoever designed this place actually thought about the people using it. The staff made us feel welcome without trying too hard. That's a skill. We ordered hot and iced mochas and both were dialed in. My wife went bacon avocado toast, creamy avocado against crispy bacon, exactly right. I had the sunbutter banana toast and almost ordered a second one. We grabbed an apple fritter to go. It didn't survive the drive. The background music hits just right, easy listening layered under the natural buzz of a full, happy room. Prices are exactly what you'd expect to pay for coffee done well. Before you leave, browse the retail wall. Solid selection of beans to take home, plus some genuinely cute goods worth picking up. This place has real soul. You'll feel it.
