This place is big and welcoming. Definitely glad we made a reservation! We were a bit late to it, and they were kind enough to still get us sat right away. The service was great. Everyone was kind. It was quite slow and we were on a timeline, but also we were late and that was on us. They apologized for it being slow (our ticket got overlooked by the kitchen) and boxed up our food for us so we could eat from the boxes and be ready to bail without having to box leftovers. The food: yum! It was so good! Everything we tried was really yummy and I am looking forward to going back. I love that it's not just traditional breakfast food, but also fun options like salmon lox. It is so very sad when someone takes you to a special place and it seriously is disappointing. My daughter brought me here for breakfast on a Thursday at 10:30. It was busy but not swamped. We ordered. Then waited 40 minutes. I was pretty sure I could see our food sitting under the heat lamps for 15 minutes. Every wait staff just walked right by it. Finally we had to get up and ask if that was ours and why it was sitting there. In fact it was ours. Apologies were given, excuses were given. The food was cold, it was soggy. Regardless the amazing host was able to get us on the waiting list and were seated within 45 minutes. My brother took us here for brunch. I love a cute brunch spot! Upon entering i immediately saw the open kitchen. The space is open, modern, and welcoming. I got some protein drink which was fantastic, my brother and his gf got coffee, and my sis got some green juice. App - we got the beignet with a caramel syrup. This was great. We were in Spokane for a wedding, staying at the nearby Davenport Tower. We found House of Brunch on Yelp and a scan of the great reviews and interesting menu led us to make the short walk over to its river front location. Since we were out late we needed to start with coffee and their drip and Americano offerings were better than what you could get at the green mermaid. A nice touch was that the caffeine was served with a house made mini doughnut. The servers ensured that refills were prompt. My wife ordered the Green Juice which is an interesting blend of celery, apple, spinach, cuke, lemon, and ginger; she recommends it highly. The menu is varied and compelling with curated categories: Share, Chill, Sweet, Savory, and Classic. It was a tough call since everything looked remarkable but we decided on the Crab Cake Bennies and the Waffles and Chicken. Both were superb: finely crafted, well plated, and generous in flavor and serving. Because the experience was so great, we chose to have another breakfast here the following day with the personal compact that we would not get the same dishes. For Round Two we had the Lox Toast and Tostada al Pastor with a side of their thick cut bacon. Everything about the experience was exceptional: food, drink, service, and atmosphere. The menu is unique and interesting. The restaurant is beautiful. We left hungry and disappointed. On arrival, we stood at the host desk for 5 minutes. No one greeted us. No one asked if we'd made a reservation. I eventually asked a server at the bar if we should seat ourselves because we'd been standing there for so long. No, someone will help you soon. A host walked up. He was eating something. When he got to the host stand, he finished his food, took a big drink and wiped his hands before making eye contact with us. He said the wait would be 15 minutes. We sat down in the lobby. We were seated at a community table. The couple to our right finished their meal, paid the bill and left. Their seats were bussed. This all happened before our server greeted us. We ordered coffee. We waited. And waited. I scanned the restaurant for our server - or any server- to ask about our drinks and place our food order. No one else approached the table. Still no coffee. It had been 30 minutes. We decided to leave. The host realized we were leaving. He offered to find our server, pay for our meal, seat us somewhere else. He practically chased us out of the restaurant. Boyfriend and I came here for brunch and were not greeted for 5 minutes while awkwardly standing at the front. Several servers walked past us without saying a word, not even a smile in our direction. We were finally seated and 40 minutes after ordering they brought us a complementary snack board, which was so sweet! But everything on the board was cold or stale. The cheese on the board had very obviously been sitting out and was lukewarm, the bacon was soggy with solidified grease (from being cold) on the bottom. When we finally got our food my boyfriend's waffles were COLD and my food was hot (yay!) but had a short blonde hair in it :( We had to walk out and cut our losses unfortunately.
