My friends and I arrived at the Tipsy Alchemist at 5pm sharp. We're cool like that. Plus, we really were that excited to try the drinks that everyone and their dog were raving about. After reading the numerous Yelp reviews about poor service and pricey drinks, we were prepared to lower our expectations. Thank God we didnt have to! The Tipsy Alchemist lived up to the hype and even surpassed my hopes and dreams of what this eclectic lounge could be. First, the bartender was amazing. He was quirky and fun. I loved his sense of humor, pride in his bartender art, legit and delicious reccommendations, and overall hospitality. He shared that during happy hour they validate parking for 5 hours in the lot right next door. And during the late evenings and weekends, if you have table service they will validate parking as well. The bartender went out of his way to make sure that we were taken care of. Second, holy guacamole, these drinks are ridiculously good. Like knock your socks off good. And at $6 during happy hour, why not try all five?! We each got (at least) two drinks. And some nice gentleman bought us another drink... off menu... which was FANTASTIC. The bartender called it the "give me your room key." After sipping on that bad boy I knew why. Third, the atmosphere is so laid back during happy hour. The ambiance is chill and classy. Inside and outside, alike, the seating is classy and comfy. I literally cannot wait to come back for Happy Hour. I don't know if I would brave the crowd and come late evening or weekend. I had been wanting to check this place out but left disappointed- the cocktails are expensive, I got the espresso martini and it wasn't good, also they automatically apply a 20% tip on drinks which I think is ridiculous, our friend didn't realize this and tipped an extra 20% on top of that which sucks. The ambiance is cool but then it has kind of a clubby stuck up vibe...there is a door guy and there is a pants dress code for men at night, just not really my kind of place. read more

Too pretentious! Not my cup of tea! This place was recommended by the front desk at the Westin! We ubered here much to my dismay. Upon entering you are immediately approached with the TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL hostess asking "DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION"? For the stool at the bar? Yes, every seat is reserved. Well, then you get the boot to the outside patio with terrible different music and bad speakers. Do the walk of shame through the club to the outdoor patio. Go ahead and have a seat because no one will wait on you or ask if you would like a drink. No staff works the patio. So, after you've been shunned, you need to re-enter and try to get a drink at the bar. That's my tip if you attempt this place without a reservation for your bar stool. I was so disappointed. We decided to get back in an Uber and go to a friendly bar! GO TO THE OLD PARLIAMENT and have an old fashion or somewhere welcoming! That's my advice. read more

A very nice place to enjoy drinks in a festive artistic atmosphere. Our bartender, Nicole, was excellent in handling our drinks and making them GREAT! There is valet parking available as there is limited parking. There are two floors of bars to enjoy with a DJ playing music to entertain you. I suggest you go online and reserve a seating as there are very limited seating. The drinks average 15-20 per drink but are good. Definitely visit this area during the weekend. Cool vibe on the main floor but once you go upstairs it goes to a weird dance club vibe leaving you unsure how to feel. Which I personally don't want to experience when spending $20 on one drink. Seating is usually limited due to the large amount of customers. Some drinks are really tasty! Others not so much. I had the lavender cocktail (I forget what it's called) it was good but the flavor was subtle. Don't let the weird ingredients scare you away, you'd be surprised how some will taste. RUDE! Yelled at by bartender and staff and made to feel like unwelcomed dogs Went early on Friday 12/20/19 with friends for pre-birthday dinner drinks around 9pm. It was pretty dead so we grabbed prime seats on the couches downstairs. It was our first time so 2 girlfriends and I started walking upstairs just to have a look at the second level. Halfway up, the bartenders and bouncers whistled, yelled and made a big scene in front of the whole bar screaming, "Hey, the upstairs isn't open! Come down! Are y'all going to just disregard the rope?!?" (There was a rope hanging along the wall but it wasn't "up" across the stairs. Staff put the rope up after we came down). My friends and I we're so offended that the birthday girl and two girlfriends were treated like damn dogs being yelled at and corralled (instead of having class nicely walking up the stairs to let us know in a normal tone and volume) that our whole friend group felt unwelcome and left immediately to go to the bar at Nick & Sam's where we had dinner reservations. To feel welcome in Dallas go to Nick & Sam's bar which has incredible drinks and staff, skip the rude Tipsy Alchemist. read more

This place looks very quiet from the outside but man was I wrong when I stepped inside and it was poppin. Super crowded, kind of claustrophobic. I saw that there was a second level but that seemed closed off to regular patrons. Very limited number of seating areas that aren't reserved. The DJ was spinning some classic hip hop which was good. Drinks were strong. What I really have to dock them majorly for is their hostesses' attitudes. All of them are rude as hell, and to provide an example, one of them was carrying a tray of empty glasses to the back and was shoving clients out of the way and I caught her addressing clients saying "Bi*ch get out of my way!" Very not acceptable, especially in this industry. Y'all need to retrain your staff in hospitality and manners. read more

I celebrated my birthday at Tipsy. The vibe was everything I wanted and expected! Tipsy Alchemist owes my friends/family and I nothing! Our service was great, checked on us frequently. We reserved a table near the DJ. The DJ was great, had on us up dancing quite often. The drinks were a hit or miss pending on your taste buds but that's to be expected. Will definitely be back! My favorite Prohibition bar in Fort Worth held the bar w/ 13 vermouths... but this place takes the cake with 18 different types of ICE! If you are going to build a craft cocktail, you build it from the bottom up! Glassware: The VIEUX CARRE was mixed with smoke in a beaker (very Breaking Bad style), and poured over a cube. The EDISON... was served in a Light Bulb. LIVING THE ISLAND LIFE... fire roasted cinnamon into a Coconut Shell! Skill: This is not your "bud light" crowd in price, skill or architecture. These cocktails are built with an immense amount of skill, take a bit of time and showmanship, and come with a KICK TO THE HEAD! I highly recommend coming early and spending some time with your bartender, and appreciating the skill! This place is small and intimate, and your trip will be enhanced by avoiding the rush! Like most people, I enjoy a good stiff drink. Though at the Tipsy Alchemist, your wallet will likely be sad after a night of revelry. At $15 for a three sip cocktail that's half foam, and $13 for a regular drink, it may be wise to come with a sugar daddy or wait coquettishly around the bar until someone buys you a drink... or come buzzed from that bottle of Absolute festering at your friend's house. Service takes a while, due to the complicated craft of making these inebriating masterpieces, with the bartenders dressed like they are ready to give you a massage or pull you through some dark Chinese alleys in 1836 with a bamboo rickshaw. It's nice inside, not much of a dancing crowd but the women are mostly beautiful and well-dressed. The men are less so but ooze an air of privileged affluence, though some are clearly veteran members of the douche club. Don't argue, just smile and move to the other side. read more

What a night of awful service. I do not I repeat do not like spicy drinks at all. I asked for The Lily. All drinks have the ingredients on the menu might I add. Taste my drink and my throat is fire. I address the bartender and he says "no it's spicy." I point out to him on the menu. He then says something to management. I show them THIER menu and then they finally offered me another drink. The bartender made drinks in front of us for over an hour. I guess he was pissed and have us some of the worst service ever. Every one else he was polite with. We said well maybe he's having a bad night and tried to socialize with him but he wasn't having it. He made some wonderful drinks but that attitude will never bring me back to this establishment. The cocktails here are very good. Without a doubt one of the top cocktail bars in Dallas. I've been here many times with different groups and everyone always has a great time. I actually should have left a 5 star review earlier... What motivates this 5 star review is because my wife left her phone here and without any issues we were able to pick up the phone the next day they were open (actually even before they opened) . For some context, I've caught the creepy guy at Verizon claiming to be "working" on my wife's phone while he is going through her photos. None of this phony business here. We just got the phone. Place is great, drinks are very decent and delicate. Three stars because I mean snobby bartenders don't really make for great customer service no matter how great the drinks are. If you're not a local or have some sort of connection with the staff there, expect a not so welcoming environment with your bill possibly thrown at you.
