Called ahead for seating for 8 on Saturday morning. Only had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. Server came directly over and took drink orders. Service throughout breakfast was great. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and we ordered blueberry donuts to try. They were delish! Warm, soft with a little crisp and served with a blueberry topping on the side. Having tried this establishment in Sarasota, Fl. I was excited to know we were getting one in East Tennessee. I went once the day after Christmas and it was still being renovated. Shame on Yelp for posting hours for a place not yet open. Anyway, I went yesterday and met some friends there. It is such a bright and cheerful space. The crew was attentive with both a manager and proprietor walking around talking to customers. If you have coffee in one of their signature mugs, I'm sure you'll ask if you can buy one. They are for sale! The food was as expected. Two of us had chicken salad salads and one of us had the omelet. The portions were large and fresh. If you've ever been to The Toasted Yolk elsewhere, you know of their full bar with awesome mimosas and Bloody Marys. Johnson City is still waiting on their liquor license. They do have beer though. Don't let that keep you from going now. Besides once your butt sits in one of those bright green chairs, you'll stay longer than you planned to. read more

The good...my server Kelly was good. She was friendly and answered all my questions. She was attentive without being obnoxious. The portion sizes were good. The pancake took up the entire plate! Three pieces of bacon, a good portion of hash browns, and two eggs. Pretty standard breakfast which is what I decided to 'test' my first time here with. The bad...as a single female, I was seated in possibility the worst place in the house. I was offered a seat at the bar, but did not want to sit at a high top and requested a table so that's on me. After Kelly greeted me, she told me the beverage options since I was not given a drink menu. I decided on a hot mocha coffee. When it finally arrived, it was barely warm. I placed my order after some indecision on my part. Basic breakfast or Benedict? Wrong choices made every day, but live and learn. The eggs were cooked exactly as ordered. The bacon was almost crisp, I ordered crispy. The hash browns were just okay. All of these were just barely warm. The pancake, while huge, was barely warm enough to melt the butter. The syrup struggled to pour out of the container. The cost...is spent, with tip, almost $25 but considering that the coffee was almost $5 I wasn't surprised. Will I return? I will have to debate that with myself for a while. It didn't wow me enough to say yes right away, but I always try to give places two times before I totally write them off, so we'll see. read more

We went here the other day and were very impressed. The location is very open, light, airy, and has a comfortable vibe. The food is great and a bit elevated over a regular breakfast spot with the use of different ingredients and great presentation. My wife got the shrimp and grits and it was a beautiful plate and very good. I got the regular eggs Benedict with hash brown casserole which was good and much better than the casserole at cracker barrel. It was the first week of the opening of The toasted Yolk. We arrived 1 1/2 hours before our afternoon activity which was in Johnson City. The restaurant told my spouse it might be up to an hour wait, we were fortunate and got a table after a 20 minute wait. The waitress was friendly, and did a great job ensuring our meal and requests were made in a timely manner. This visit we had breakfast,eat and shared a side dish of fresh fruit. We had eggs, biscuits, bacon, and hash browns with cheese (tastes like Cracker Barrel hash browns). FYI - there is a bar (no alcohol) where you can grab a stool and eat your meal. Next time we visit will be for a lunch meal. Their salads and shrimp and grits look delicious. I highly recommend visiting during the week when there are less people in line. read more

Only complaint is the entry set up makes it a little awkward waiting for a table. Once seated the wait staff was excellent. Yay to Shelby S! For attentive and prompt service. So many options from seeet to savory but hard to pass on the 4 egg omelette. Excellent as served but thier tomatillo salsa on top took it to a new level. Table of 6 all walking away stuffed and happy. But we stilll made room for the churros donuts! Definitely will be a regular here! read more

We called at 7:30 to do call ahead seating for a large party as their website instructed. The guy on the phone was a jerk, wouldn't take our name, and said when we got here we'd get seated. The team is amazing. Friendly and attentive. The food was expensive and mediocre at best. The hollandaise sauce was very bland. That being said the hash brown casserole is very good that was my favorite part of the meal. The espresso machine needed a cleaning and my latte was lukewarm. The inside is warm and fun. The hostess stand has a kiosk where you add your name to the waitlist via yelp but it's not accurate at all. We were 13th in line approximately 1 hour wait. Saw several people walk up and say they were not going to wait "that long" we only waiting 10 mins. There was only actually two groups in front of us. Long story short, just wait and don't go based off of yelp waitlist. The staff needs to learn to clean the list so they don't keep losing business. Liquor license not fully approved so make sure you call before you go to make sure you can get a mimosa, if that's your thing. Food was great. The hash-browm casserole was perfection!! The way they do their waitlist and check in is not convenient for those who have larger parties. The place was nice. The food was alright. been to the toasted yolk 4 times now and have been disappointed every time. everything is a up charged and they do not accommodate. i wanted fried chicken in my omelet but they couldn't do it. i still got chicken but it was terrible boiled chicken . the portion size on my up charged side was that of a kids meal. very disappointing. read more

We went on a Friday morning and it was moderately busy. The interior is new so it's still nice. Our server Kian was great. The kids menu pancakes were very large and they included a drink. The brisket tacos were on the smaller side. They were ok but I wouldn't order them again. The breakfast burrito was good sized. We definitely want to go back and try other menu items. The dining room wasn't busy when we arrived however we waited a longtime to get drinks and order. Each interaction with our waitress she complained about the job, either the hours or the workload. It's recently renovated but appears to have been on a budget, it's very dusty on flat surfaces, and has hotel lobby vibes with harsh lighting and bright colors. The food was just ok. Everything came out warm, the hash brown casserole was overcooked, and the cheese sauce on top of the egg scramble had a very strong artificial bacon flavor additive chemical flavor, with no visible bacon, that was too much to eat, so we scraped it off. If you're wanting flavor, this is not the place. Breakfast was bland and everything tastes like it is frozen then heated up. I figured this since I asked if they could make blueberry pancakes for my child, and the waitress stated they could place the blueberries on top but they aren't able to cook them into the pancake. However, our waitress was wonderful. They don't have their liquor license, which is common for new restaurants around here - it takes a while. But I think the alcohol will be the only thing going for this place once they get their license. Oh and please add more sweetness to your sweet tea. read more

Friends and I recently decided to try the Toasted Yolk in Johnson City, Tenn, even though my many other friends warned me that the meals were extremely overpriced and very under portioned .... how correct they were. Additionally, the Toasted Yolk was slowwwwwwwww with customer service. The Server (I won't embarrass her by naming names) screwed up my order, but of course blamed the cooking staff. The Server further stated that the Manager would be over to our table to correct the situation and circumstances .... No Manager ever approached our table. Either the Server had lied to us, or the Manager didn't want to be bothered to pacify customers. I asked another Server to get our bill... we just paid for what we accordingly ordered and departed this place. No tip was deserved or earned here. Great going Toasted Yolk! You've lost our future customer business!!!!! I'll be more than happy to convey my horrible experience with many other people. read more
