I've visited this place before and wanted to give it another try. There are definitely some things they do really well: The burger was tasty, the lemon ricotta pancake was great, and the service is truly wonderful every time. I also really enjoy the bottomless coffee! That said, a couple of items fell short for me again. The soup and hash brown casserole were much saltier than I expected, and for the price, I wish the overall experience felt a bit more balanced. I really appreciate the great staff and the dishes they do get right, but I'm still hoping for a little more consistency to feel fully satisfied for what I'm paying.

Service was amazing, staff was really kind, food was delicious and coffee was hot. Best drip coffee I can find at any restaurant. Always a good experience here.

Overpriced and underwhelming; came here with a friend to catch up, a Thursday at 10:40 am, so definitely not busy enough to warrant how bad our food was .Our food was cold when it came out; two omelettes with a very scant amount of ingredients; the feta cheese in both dishes was still cold from the fridge ,and there's no way that was a four egg omelette, unless they use powdered eggs. Consistency of the eggs did not seem the same as fresh eggs at all ,it was not at all fluffy ,and there were many times that a bite of the omelette had nothing in it; none of the spinach, tomatoes or cheese that were ordered. Grits were so cold when served, that they had jelled over the top , when served to me. The biscuit was cold and hard and seemed as though it was made the day before. $44 for two basic breakfast and no refill on coffee is just way too much to spend on food that lacks quality, as such as this. We will certainly head back to De**y's, next time and get much better food ,at a much better value.

I need to come here more. Everything is so good and there are lots of options. Happy that we were seated quickly, even on a busy Saturday morning.

I like everything about this place! I overdid it, and I'll tell you why in a few seconds! So, of course, I wanted to show my mom around my new state, and I constantly tell her about the food here all the time. So, we are both big breakfast eaters, and I knew she would love this place. Now, the reason why I overdid it is because my breakfast dish was so good I ordered a to-go plate of their chicken sandwich and fries for dinner! As you can see, I got the pork chop breakfast, which was so good. You can see the pepper and spices on the meat. It had so much flavor, and it was so tender I used my fork mostly to cut my meat instead of the knife. I love the crispy part around the edges, which brought more flavor. My eggs were just the right kind of slimy, or should I say sunny side up. Now, my grits could have needed just a bit more butter, but I'm not complaining because these grits weren't lumpy, and I mixed my grits with my eggs, which made for a tasty dish. But the star of the show was the buttery pancake and coffee. It's one of the most buttery pancakes you can eat alone without syrup. But I added syrup for that kick of goodness; my mom and I both enjoy the pancakes and coffee a lot. But I'm always looking at the decor, and this place has a lovely color scheme. It's not your average breakfast spot. It's more like a social place with a type of lounge vibe. There's a bar in the center with a bartender, and nice music is playing just above a whisper. It's a place to visit, most definitely for the food but to relax too. And yes, my chicken sandwich and fries were just as good!

We ordered lunch at work and everyone loved it! I had the California Club on sourdough. Fresh ingredients and the bread was amazing!

My experience wasn't very joyful. I was pretty displeased. For one there was hair in my cousins food and mine. Please whoever is cooking this food needs to put on a hair net. The service wasn't very good either, they kept forgetting what we ordered and had to come back many times and asked what we ordered again. I was with my family and there was a lot of us so we sat outside, it is very hot out there, I recommend fans. Besides all of this the pancakes were alright until I found a piece of hair in it. Along with my cousins grits, our server handed her, her grits and there was a piece of hair sticking out of the grits. Then the server took it back and apologized and brought her a new one, but my cousin was too disgusted and couldn't eat them. It wasn't the worst experience but there could be some improvements.

Southern Fried Arnold with junkyard hashbrown casserole

Found out about the Toasted Yolk Cafe from my sister who recently moved to Houston. It looks like an average breakfast spot but I was excited to try the food. Since they were known for their Arnolds (Benedicts), I ordered the southern fried Arnold and hashbrown casserole with junkyard topping (queso, Chilli, jalapeño, and onion. The flavor of everything was good but my food was lukewarm like it was sitting for a while before it got to the table. Also, the service was somewhat slow. The restaurant wasn't crowded but it was hard to track down our waiter when we needed things. I don't think I would return to this location during my next visit to Houston but I'm willing to give another location a try.

Food is always outstanding, service is always great and - maybe I've been lucky - it's never too busy. Worth the drive.

A great place for lunch with a group of friends! We are part of a group of friends who are mostly…read moreretired and enjoy dining out for lunch as a group once a month. We try to support local Kingwood are restaurants and hadn't been to Union Kitchen in quite a while. We arrived and asked for a table for 6, the dining room was busy so they said it would be a few minutes. Then 3 more of our group we hadn't expected arrived and the hostess quickly let the servers know to make our table larger. We only had to wait 8 or 9 minutes and were seated in the side dining room which was great as it was not crowded so it was easy to talk without a lot of ambient noise from the more crowded main room. I believe one of the assistant managers began taking drink orders as our designated server was finishing up some tables nearby. She had a great sense of humor and quickly went to get our drinks. FYI, they have both an All Day menu and a lunch special one which we hadn't seen before a their website so that is an option and is a bit less expensive with smaller servings than the All Day one. As it was April 15, they had a special small Tax Day menu where everything was prices at $4.15! What a cute idea! We all ordered our lunches and soon we were enjoying what was brought out. I had the special lentil soup and the blackened salmon tacos, my wife had the 1/2 lb classic burger and the house made potato chips. Everything was excellent. Glad we stopped by for our group lunch.

We just had dinner at the Union Kitchen in Kingwood, Tx. Super conveniently located close to our…read morehotel, the La Quinta. We saw it online and loved the vast menu selection so we thought we'd give it a try. From the exterior, it doesn't look like much almost looks like you could be walking into a craft store or a boot barn cause it's just in a shopping mall strip center. But once you enter inside, the dark wood, the wine bottles, the lighting all creates a very nice ambience of an upscale restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. We were just grabbing a bite to eat before a movie and this place turned out to be much nicer than me. I previously anticipated. We decided to order off of the Happy Hour menu so that we could try several things. We got the queso dip of course...because, when in Texas...We also got the crabcakes and a cheeseburger with truffle fries. They had some great drink specials, but we got ice tea instead. That was plenty of food for two of us to share. Out of the three items that we ordered off the Happy Hour menu, I would say the cheesburger was the best! The bun was small enough to not be overwhelming and the meat had a very nice barbecue taste. The crabcakes were OK as was the queso. Our waiter gave excellent service! Can't remember his name, but he was tall and I believe had dirty blonde hair. The entire meal was super yummy with excellent service and convenient. Couldn't ask for more. We definitely recommend this place. We wanted to get beignets for dessert, but we were too full to order anything else. Oh and if you go at Happy Hour, even if you're not drinking, everything on the Happy Hour menu is 50% off. Check it out!
