Took my mom out to have breakfast at this place (04/28) and it was truly the worst experience. The service was terrible, we sat down for 20 minutes before anyone approached us (mind you, place was not that busy to begin with) there was multiple staff members who would just walk by our table but there was a specific waitress with a face mask and long ginger hair who purposely went out of her way to avoid us. She helped the table behind us, in front of us, and even next to us but never once came up to us to even acknowledge us. She just stood there, fixing bottles, made eye contact with me and still chose to pay us no mind. We felt discriminated against considering the fact that she helped every other table but us. I asked for the manager and let her know how we sat there for 20 minutes before anyone greeted/acknowledged us and as an apology we got donuts. I paid attention to every single person who sat down after us and witnessed the difference of how they were being treated compared to us and it just validated how we felt, uncomfortable and awful. We will never go back and if you can take anything from this review, try somewhere else. read more

This was our first and definitely not our last visit to the toasted yolk. We are from Tulsa Oklahoma and the only thing we have that could approach what the toasted yolk was like was First Watch. The toasted yolk had a very pleasant atmosphere and our server was absolutely fantastic. She was so friendly and explained with great detail any questions we had about the menu. We loved everything about the place. I had a simple breakfast consisting of two eggs over medium, a hashbrowns casserole which was so yummy. Three nice thick pieces of bacon and a biscuit with butter and jelly. I asked for honey for the biscuit and was accommodated. We even loved the mugs they serve their coffee in and actually bought one to take home with us. The menu was varied and had some unique items on it. Standard breakfast fare. Pancakes- good flavor. Light. Could have used a couple more minutes of cooking, they were a bit gummy. However, the flavor was good & they are light. Served with warm syrup which is always a plus. Veggie Egg scramble - ample veggies. Nice amount (it's made with 4 eggs). Definitely needed salt & pepper. Hashbrown casserole - I dont really prefer regular hash browns but this casserole was creamy & I could taste & see the black pepper. Biscuits are buttery & good. Service was fine. I think one of the things that impressed me most was the actions of the manager. The restaurant was a bit crowded yet the manager was busy spot cleaning the walls & baseboards. The service was excellent or should I say egg-selent. Nothing? Come on! That was funny! The manager Megan and our server Trinity were both wonderful and made the entire experience A+. Party of 6 on the patio and everyone enjoyed their food. Stand outs were shrimp and grits, and cowboy scramble. Their sausage cream gravy was also really good. I usually don't like sausage gravy but they brought out a tiny bit to try and it convinced 3 of us to get items that in included that gravy. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals and The Toasted Yoke consistently serves the basics very well. The restaurant is always clean and bright with lots of natural lighting. The staff is friendly from the initial greeting from the host to the server's timely arrival at your table. The pancakes are a reasonable size and fluffy, tasty without tons is syrup. I sat at the bar and the bartender was waiting on tables so I sat there a good while before I was even greeted. Several people came out from the kitchen door. I've tried this place before and have been wanting to give it another go and I'm glad I finally did. I tried the Shrimp Omelet, which was a delicious and filling way to start my day. The omelet was made with bacon bits, cheese, shrimp and sliced mushrooms. Everything, including the seasoning and tasty siracha sauce was a delicious blend of flavors. The meal is served with fresh fruit and salad topped with a scrumptious lemon vinaigrette sauce. I highly recommend this meal and will have it again on my next visit! They were not serving steak dishes so that took away some options bc my husband wanted the carne asada burrito that was on their featured dishes. The atmosphere was nice, the food came in quick and the customer service was courteous - we had the employee come by to check on us. We were looking for a brunch spot on a Sunday and didn't realize there was a Toasted Yolk in Sugar Land Town Square. We were greeted and sat down pretty quickly. The given menus were sticky, but that the case in majority brunch/breakfast spots... our waitress asks for our drink orders. The toasted yolk coffee-- comes hot. I wish it was on ice but, overall yummy alcoholic coffee beverage. We order fried banana peppers for an appetizer, I would say that was my favorite thing. I had the Cajun shrimp and grits. It wasn't bad, but nothing to rave about. Elvis ordered the southern fried Arnold... all the food came out, except for his. We wait around and about 10 mins later our waitress comes out and tells us that they're out of chicken tenders! He orders something different, we wait another 10-15 mins and then his original order comes out. She tells us, oh they were able to make this last one! Hmmm.. that was a little questionable. I've been here twice and have been disappointed both times. The first time, I had the Alaskan Arnold which was mediocre at best. The hollandaise sauce is not my cup of tea personally and I dont understand what flavor of "good" they were aiming for when it comes down to the seasoning on the spinach. The salmon was cooked very well but disgraced by the rest of the plate. The Bloody Maria stands out as a strong bad b*. Def recommend if you are looking for a pick me up after a long night. The second time I went with my kid. He enjoyed the French toast and sausage.... But thats literally it. ONE slice of bread and one of those little sausages out a frozen pack. Talk about maximizing on profit... tbh paying $7 on a plate that cost less than a dollar to make is a waste. Don't come here just to get your kid food. You only get your money's worth depending on which regular/ adult sized plate you get (which the portions are HUGE, I will give them that). Again, I started off with the bad b* Bloody Maria, which didn't disappoint. I ordered the brisket tacos which I personally think they should serve in a bowl... Not even the tacos at the taco truck are that greasy. I was super disappointed that I couldn't even finish a whole taco. (See picture for reference. If I could post a video of the grease dripping I would). The "pico" is a disappointment as well, the driest pico I've ever had in my life. The only thing good on my plate was the hash potato casserole. At the end of brunch I ordered a peach Bellini, which you might as well order for dessert, as sweet as it is. They do allow the drinks to go which is nice. Hopefully it's strong enough to help me forget the disappointment of the food I thought I was going to enjoy.
