    Truffle banger
    Isabel P.

Came in on Saturday for lunch with the family. We had a random search for a burger nearby and decided to try Urban Skillet. We were greeted right away upon entering. We were asked if it was our first time, which it was. He offered suggestions but my eyes was already drawn to the Truffle Banger. We were the 2nd group of patrons upon entering. We got the kids a cheeseburger. The pricing of their burgers range from $9.50 to $15.50, which is the pricing for just the burgers and no sides. Additional offerings are skillet sandwiches, hot dog, and wings. Bathrooms are single. Just "okay" maintained but just at opening, the toilet paper was empty. It didnt seen busy as mentioned before, we were the only 2nd patrons in the place with the 1st being a couple. I wasn't sure how long before they were there before us but couldn't be that long since they opened at 11. Our order was placed at 12:08pm. Our food did not come out till 12:47pm. The couple before us inquired when their food would be out multiple times but end up not waiting as they mentioned they had to be somewhere at 1pm. They requested and received their refund and left. There were 3 groups than came in shortly after us as well. I overheard 2 of them saying it was their first time too. The slow delivery of the food seemed to also bother other patrons as well inquiring how long it would be. I dont mind the wait, I just hope it was worth it. Unfortunately it wasn't. I believe one of the food runners delivered a child burger to another adult patron who was confused. They corrected it and handed it over to the next table without remaking it despite her touching it. I guess the kid was so hungry after waiting for so long and he ate it. My kids were voicing their hunger while waiting. When we finally got our food, which was the Truffle Banger, OG Dog, 2 kids burgers, and truffle fries. It was VERY clear that the fries were done 30 minutes ago and had been sitting there until the burgers were done. The truffle oil made the fries very very soggy and the fries were Luke warm / cool. Because we were so hungry, we ate it anyway. I also dont tend to make a fuss and the kids ate it. I think the fries would have been good if they were brought out fresh. It should've been brought out when it was done. At least it could have served as an appetizer. We inhaled are food quickly due to our hunger and needing to be at an event as well. The couple after us voiced their frustration about their order. Wouldn't be surprised the rest if the other patrons did too at our departure. Things to note: No complimentary water. Bottled water and drinks, canned soda are $1.50. It is order at the counter and food is delivered to your table, may not be accurate. Clear your own table. The Truffle Banger was reported to be their best one on the menu but there wasn't much a Truffle or any at all(?). One slice of their halal bacon. It was good but not amazing. My husband had the hot dog and he said it was just fine. No further comments on it. My kids ate the kids burger. Overall the food was fine but for the premium price, it wasn't necessarily worth the wait. The workers were nice but unfortunately, the first impression did not go well and unclear if ill patron the establishment again. I hope your experience is better.

This is such a nice location

I don't usually leave reviews, but Urban Skillet honestly deserves one. The burgers here are insanely good like easily the best I've had in Texas, and the fact that they're Halal makes it even better. You can actually taste how fresh everything is. I also tried the wings (went with mango habanero) and WOW... sweet, spicy, so good. Make sure you ask for extra Urban Sauce -- trust me, you'll end up dipping everything in it. The location itself is super clean and spacious, which is perfect if you're coming with a big family or a bigger group. It didn't feel cramped at all, and the service was quick even though it was pretty busy.

We returned to pick up some burgers and biryani to-go for the family. It's been a while since our…read morelast visit. There were no customers inside at 1pm on a Saturday. The interior felt sticky and unkept, which is a shame because this is not an old spot by any means and Telfair is a pretty nice community. The legs of the tables were rusted over and the plastic of the chairs were chipped. There were cobwebs on the walls. It just felt like the place has not been well maintained. When we ordered, the cashier never showed or told me my order back and just gave me the total price, expecting me to tap my card. Hearing that our order for 4 people was over $60, the price sounded high to me for the prices listed on the overhead TV menus. Come to find out there was a markup on the loaded fries I ordered that was not reflected on the display. When I asked her about it, she nonchalantly said "Oh yeah the price is higher". My first thought was, hey it's a digital menu, how hard is that to change? Secondly, the attitude in response to how my order broke down was definitely not one of good customer service. I also asked how spicy the chili ranch sauce was that came with the avocado burger since my 6 year-old was ordering it and she assured me it was not spicy. We ended up having to wait over half an hour for our food. Turned out the avocado burger had some sort of chopped peppers throughout the spread and my son couldn't even eat a bite. The biryani was also extremely spicy. I like spicy food as much as the next, but the biryani was hot fire coming out the chute, and there was a lot "chuting" from the family after this meal. Needless to say, we won't be returning anytime soon. Which is too bad, because I want to support local, ethnic foods and honestly, I like the taste of the food.

Sad to give this place two stars because the fusion concept sound promising. Burgers and biriyani…read moreare two things I enjoy, so I figured it was going to be hard to dislike. We ordered the tikka chicken masala paratha and chicken biriyani with a side of fries. The paratha was packed with protein, but unfortunately was hard and dry. The sauce/gravy within the wrap was decent, but just couldn't save the chicken. The biriyani was ok. Chicken was decent but the rice lacked something that made it taste like restaurants quality. The fries were the most disappointing - they were stale and tasted overcooked, sort of like when you reheat day old fries. There's an indicator when your child doesn't care for any fries. Overall meal was about $30. We tipped and cleaned up after ourselves. Not the best counter service, but not bad. The interior was ok. They had Mr. Bean playing on TV, so that brought back some old childhood nostalgia feels. Unlikely that we will be back, but if so, I'll try the burger next time.
