Had an okay time at this bar and grill in Aurora. It has a pretty clean and modern feel to it without being fake. The Town is a popular place for watching games and other sports. Lots of beers on tap and plenty of cocktails. Maybe the food could be better because it seems like an afterthought to be honest. Be sure to find out about the specials before going. It's $3 for Miller Lite pints on Saturdays. That's always a good thing. A lot of other cheap prices on drinks. They got buckets filled with bottles and ice. Food isn't quite as good but they have some things to eat. There's the basic bar food kinds of stuff. It's about $12 for the Veggie Black Bean Burger. Probably the healthiest thing on the menu. Visited last Friday anticipating a dinner proven prior not to disappoint . We were told to sit where ever we would like. What they neglected to say was that they had to close their entire kitchen down! It took @30 minutes to learn this, and only after I had to track down my waitress after she took our initial drink order. She apologized and said she only learned about this herself an hour prior. I expressed frustration that she knew about this when we arrived, but didn't bother to say anything. The response was a shrug and an apology. With that said, we've ordered from and have eaten here prior on several occasions. The food and service had always been spectacular. Absolutely terrible. I've been going sporadically to the Town for the past year. Living in the area. Not enough to be considered a regular, not enough to be considered some random. The service is always usually beyond terrible with the exception of a couple really nice bartenders. But I've been going consistently on Saturday nights for a hip-hop DJ after 10 PM, the crowd it brings in is rather interesting and entertaining to look at but also pretty suspect. In conjunction with this crowd, the bartending staff seems fit to charge automatic gratuity, probably for the types of non-tipping clientele they get on a night like that in conjunction with hip-hop night presumably. But also don't tell you about it and they do it to parties of one or two, that's not where you charge automatic gratuity at a respectable place. It's usually parties of 6 or more. This last Saturday night I walk in with my lady, I was told she doesn't have to pay and I have to pay five dollar cover. Um ok. Even though we're a couple, I'm not a single dude bringing in a gang of single ladies that would bring more male clientele, we are a couple. Weird. Then the overzealous security staff, one of them is a straight up douche bag in a red hat, said I'm sure you got us with the five dollars on the way out (didn't have cash on me) I said yeah I got you bro. He proceeded to me there's an ATM in the back of the place, I'm not going to pull money out with a three dollar fee to pay you a measly five dollar cover charge. Add it to my bill if anything but I still would've ultimately paid the small cover. No less than five minutes after him saying I'm sure you'll get me on the way out, the goon squad of security guys walks up to me TWICE within five minutes after I had just ordered drinks with my lady, busy listening to music and just starting to get comfortable, so we handed him a 10 just for them to piss off because we said clearly they needed the money so bad. All while alienating and making their customers feel creeped out and bullied. Staring holes into me the entire time like a bunch of psychopaths. I literally looked over multiple times within the five minutes after arriving, and security was just staring at me then would look away when I looked back, making it even more obvious and creepy. Super super creepy and weird. Oh, and then I addressed the issue with some big doofus with a backwards hat, who looks like a reject security guard who failed upwards somehow, thinking he would be concerned about how his customers were being treated, ya know, like a respectable business owner or manager. It might've been like he either worked for The Town itself or the promotional company that the DJs were with. I joked with him and said wow your security staff really knows how to strong arm and make someone feel uncomfortable hounding for just a measly five dollars, his response? "It beez like dat sumtime" ... oh, great customer service skills there my guy. Not only that, but the DJs equipment and sound crashed 3 to 4 times throughout the venue. And then he just quit. I should've demanded dick head security give me my five dollars back. Was it worth it? Will not be returning. Oh and the dude who couldn't give a shit about law suit in waiting security, also works in downtown Naperville at a local sneaker boutique, and felt compelled to address this very Yelp review. Love this place! Went there on Saturday with a group of about 20 people for my husband's birthday. It's a really big bar so they were able to push together a few long high top tables to accommodate our big party. This place has big TVs surrounding the walls (great for games), a slot machine area (yeah, I said it! feelin' lucky?) and even a few video games and pin ball machines. I'm not huge into video games, but this actually ended up coming in handy because our two young nieces joined the group for dinner so this kept them quite occupied for a while! For nice weather they have a great patio outside in front with plenty of tables. I've even seen people playing a game of bags out there! There menu consists of typical "bar food", however they've got a lot to offer! I'd say the food is pretty top notch for a local bar and grill. I enjoyed the fried ravioli's as an app and then the ranch chicken wrap for my meal. Both were delish! We had a variety of options floating around our table, but our group seemed to be chowing down with no complaints so I'm sure they've got a handful of great options! The specials for that night were $4 Select Bombs, $4 Captain Drinks, $3 Heineken Bottles and $2.50 Miller Lite & Coors Light Pints - no complaints here! They also have domestic pitchers for $10.75 everyday. Not bad, not bad at all... The staff was great - especially while working with our large party. I brought in a cake for the birthday boy and they were more than happy to put it in their refrigerator until ready to be served. About 40 minutes later I get another and start counting out my money and realize more than 5.25 was taken out. I hope you're not hungry. I came here on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was half off food and beer day. So we ordered some reuben sandwiches. They came out and first of all they were on texas toast not rye, second there was almost no sauerkraut. Lame pants magoo. The fries and onion rings were ok, but those are hard to screw up. The cheap beer was really cool too, a surprisingly large selection was available at half price not just the usual boring domestic crap. They also have an impressive selection of craft beers, which they tout at every turn. As long as you're coming here to drink it's not too bad, and is a good place to watch some sports. Plenty of TVs and a nice distribution of channels. EDIT In response to owners comments: 1) I did not look at the menu, I asked if there was a reuben on the menu and immediately ordered. Thank you for showing me the folly of my ways, I will definitely not order without looking at a menu again. But seriously, who puts a reuben on anything but rye bread? I digress. 2) I understand that you put X amount of sauerkraut on your sandwiches, but both came out with about two bites of each side that had an actual layer of kraut. Upon discovering this I intended to ask the waitress for more but was not able to flag her down until it didn't matter anymore. Further more on the topic of the sandwich the actual corned beef seemed to be strangely fried lunch meat more that the typical fare you get at most bars/restaurants. The sandwich all together was less than impressive. 3) The overall service was close to bottom of the barrel. The waitress seemed to be hired for other assets than her serving ability. She was confused when I tried to order food initially with my drinks and was only able to take my drink order and had to come back for my simplest of food orders. After we ordered and got our food and drinks she would walk by and not even look our way. I even tried to get her attention a couple times to get a water and request the aforementioned sauerkraut. Then when she finally stopped at our table to check on us, we were done with the food an needed boxes (we had hoped that getting extra kraut would make the sandwiches better the next day and didn't want to waste food) she took another 15-20 min to get the boxes. That was after she had forgotten the first time and we had to remind her when she brought the check. I apologize that I did not take the time initially to properly air my grievances and hope that this amendment to my initial review satisfies your disbelief in my rating. We decided to give a new local place a try, so we bought a restaurant.com coupon for The Towne. We went there on a weekday, about one week ago. I arrived first, and was promptly asked what I'd like to drink; the beer was served in a timely manner. At this point, the experience was good. However, things quickly changed. My girlfriend showed up about ten minutes after me. We tried again and again to make eye contact with our server in order to gain her attention to order my gf's drink. She whisked around us to other tables without so much as a glance at us for appropriately 15 minutes (that's a generous time estimate). As my gf became quite thirsty, she ended up going to the bar to order a drink directly from the bartender. The bartender was extremely accommodating, and offered her a free beer and offered to immediately gain the attention of our server. This is where it gets even worse... When our server finally came over to our table, she basicallly reprimanded us for going to the bar to get a drink. She asked why WE didn't get HER attention. WHAT? Isn't that the server's job? After this, the server was very attentive, however, the negatives kept adding up. When my giflfriend ordered her food (ribyeye sandwich), she was informed that they were out of this meal. Ok, fine, she ordered a different meal. I ordered a steak wrap, and wasn't informed until my gf's food was brought out that they didn't have any meals with steak in it. I substituted chicken, but had to sit and watch my gf eat, while they cooked my chicken. :-( The food and beer were fine, but the service and attention to detail need work. Went with my mom and a friend on a Thursday night. This bar is close enough to home if we need to walk or get an inexpensive cab ride. So we were ready to drink! The cocktails alone tasted okay. But the key lime pie martini arrived red. My mom insisted that it didn't taste like key lime pie, although she couldn't detect what it DID taste like. We went there on 3-24-2011 around 6pm. The place is one large square that feels cold. There doesn't seem to be any kind of noise damping as the place was not full and very echoey. We did not order any food as the echoes were just messing with my head. The drinks we ordered were not as cold as they should have been. Here's a small glimpse into what happened: My boyfriend and I walk in, no one greets us. We sit down. An awkward lady is doing trivia near the bar; it's weird. A waitress (which turns out to be the only waitress for the WHOLE establishment) walks over and tries to get some drinks in for us. We wait for the rest of our party. The rest of our party walks in. We attempt to order multiple times, but of course the only waitress is busy with the other tables because we declined her services once. Finally she gets our order. She brings our drinks. They're all jumbled up. She asks us to grab our own drinks off of her tray...awkward. The drinks are watered down. I had 5 and didn't even get a buzz (I'm a light weight). Night ends with french fries and finger foods because nothing sounds all that good. Just not that good. This place was busy, and they had only one waitress. How can you do that? It's ridiculous. I really wanted to like this place. I had a restaurant.com coupon, which I bought because I saw Texas Cheese Fries w/ Sweet Baby Ray's on the menu. Yuck. I thought, "these reviews can't all be true...." Yeah, they were. We went on a Mon night, around 6:00. Half price appetizers and $0.50 wings were nice. But they weren't that great. We got the sampler appetizer ($10 before half off). It includes 3 mozz sticks, 2 potato skins (just bacon bits and cheese on it), 3 wings, and some nachos w/ odd toppings. They didn't even include sour cream for hte skins or bleu cheese or celery for the wings. For $10 normally??? Gimme a break. It took us about 25 minutes to get the appetizer and it wasn't that busy. I ordered the 'Bacon-Stuffed Burger" and my wife ordered the grilled cheese (young at hear!). We both got "side-salads" with the meal. The lettuce seriously tasted like they just purchased it at Walmart and it was sitting pre-made in the bag out in the heat for 8 hours. It was revolting...you could taste the plastic. And that was for an extra $1 charge. My burger was alright. The bacon stuffing was really just one teeny section on the side of it. The bacon strips ON the burger were excellent. I ordered it medium rare, but there wasn't much pink. That could be cuz they wanted to cook the bacon inside, i dunno. My wife enjoyed her grilled cheese. The bar itself was alright. Darts, arcades, plasmas all over. There was a Monday Night Poker Night going on, so everyone was at the tables playing poker. It was a clean place. This is 95% bar, 5% grill....so I don't recomend coming here if you are just having dinner. All the food seems like something they can cook in a microwave or fryer. The Town Bar & Grill is a sort-of-typical Chicago-area sports bar: one big open room with tons of televisions! Throw in a pool table, dart board, pinball machine, a karaoke night... you get the idea... I've visited this establishment many times, and happily consumed a variety of standard-type-bar-foods from their menu. My favorites are the boneless wings, Texas Cheese Fries, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Ultimate Grilled Cheese, and their Classic Burger. Combine that with a solid beer selection and you're set for 9 innings, 4 quarters, or 3 periods! I've always found the service at The Town to be fine - my food and beverage always arrive with a smile! If you're just looking for a place to watch the game and eat some wings, The Town is a good choice! This was my second time at the Town, The first time I just got an appetizer which was not bad at all. This time I ordered a BLT and got a BLT wrap instead.I REALLY wanted the sandwich but I ate it anyway and the bacon was mostly fat and there was only 1 strip of bacon on it, very fine diced tomatos and a ton of lettuce. The fries were ok but a small portion for the price. Also, all the tables are huge. I just went with one other person and we had to sit at a table that was supposed to sit 6. I know it a weird complaint but it made us feel out of place! GET SOME BOOTHS! If your in the area looking for a place to eat or drink, just go to Paulies. Its more expensive but the food is 100% better, and just an over all better atmoshpere. If you don't like Paulies, the Foundary is great My advie for this place would be to review your menu, maybe make it smaller and take off the items that aren't so great. read more

I'm updating this, and while surprised, I am pleased at my most recent experiences so I need to share! Tricia is incredible!!! Definitely request her as a server. She is the main reason we have returned, because she's so good. Attentive, helpful and very nice. However, the last several times we've been, the crowd has been very, very loud and rowdy (early...as in, 7pm on a Saturday) so we haven't stayed. The food was great every time, but the service is really what changed. So long as the service is as great consistently, we'll be here again. But likely won't stay late due to the company. read more

Mark, the owner, explained the service in the first few months was bad......most places are until they get it together. Reviews on Restaurant.com are quite good. So we tried it today for lunch on this New Years Eve day. Yummy burger, fries and onion rings. Just google YELP and lawsuits and you'll see what I mean. They have all of your typical bar food but what's unique is their stuffed burgers, jalapenos right in the patty. And their Texas Cheese fries have REAL bacon on them!!! Yum. Went there because we had a restaurant.com gift certificate and it was close to our house. Decor is nice with a ton of TVs so I guess it could be fun to watch some games there especially the NCAA tourney but we didn't go there for that. The waitress was nice but the food was too bland. We had the cheese burger, popcorn shrimp, sliders and quesadilla. The burgers/sliders were dry and had really no taste. The popcorn shrimp were small and had a lot of breading and the quesadilla was just ok as well. Price wasn't bad but unless I want to just hang out and have drinks, I wouldn't go back. I would have given it a 2 star but since a bar is meant to hang out and have drinks of which I didn't experience, I figure I would give them the benefit of doubt and give 3 stars. read more

Tried Town Bar & Grill for dinner with a restaurant.com certificate. My friend and I went on a Friday night and there are generally restrictions with restaurant.com for Sun-Thur only, no alcohol etc. Town Bar's did not include any restrictions but I was thinking an issue might arise when redeeming. Nope! Our server Kaitlyn was awesome about it, even giving us our total with how much more we needed to spend to get to the certificate amount in advance of settling up. As often noted by other reviewers, it is a big ol' loud sports bar. i knew what type of environment to expect so no surprises there. The menu was your typical bar food cast of characters: nachos, burgers, etc. Our curiosity was piqued by the breaded portobello slices but alas, we were told those are no longer available. Kaitlyn recommended the "potato & cheese pillows" which were basically like a fried pierogie made with bread. Very good! We also shared nachos and a burger, which were very average. My mixed drink was definitely light on alcohol but my friend reported her wine was good. It did take 3 wine orders to find one that was chilled. Apparently the first two had just been delivered and not refrigerated yet. Expect a loud space. We sat by the video gaming machines where the noise alternated from moderate to loud depending on if people were playing and how they were doing. : ) We were shocked to learn that our server Kaitlyn was new (and new to waitressing also!). She was definitely a highlight. She was attentive, noticing from across the room that a plate was empty and ready to be removed or a drink needed refilling. Bright, articulate and a very good server! Town Bar gets 3 stars for food, but 5 for Kaitlyn which lands my review at 4. Just had a very unprofessional experience here at the Town. We are avid poker players and have been coming for poker every Saturday and Monday for the better part of a year now. We always have dinner and drinks, typically a bill of 30 to 50 each time and many times much more. Poker last a few hours and the Town doesn't sell coffee so sometimes we will get coffee in the middle of the game. It has never been a problem in the past. Many times there are people who will bring cookies/cupcakes and other snacks for the poker games and that's never been an issue either. Tonight however our 2 coffees were a problem. We had a 30 dollar open tab and in the middle of a poker tournament and we were told we couldn't have our coffees. The manager "Jordan" short blonde hair (could pass for male or female) was very inappropriate. She sent the bar back to speak with us, couldn't even come introduce herself the proper way. When she did come over after we asked twice for management she was very rude and confrontational. Since we have never has issues with it in the past we were unaware it was a problem. She offered no resolution for the matter. We were expected to throw away the 6 dollars we spent or leave in the middle of the poker game. Obviously not great options as we value our poker scores. We then asked for the owners information because this was handled so poorly and she refused to give us any information about how we could speak to the owner when he/she was in next. We fully intend to speak with the owner so they are aware of poor management and will not be returning with our business. Great local hang out in Aurora. Great beer selection with some craft brews every now and then. Foods alright. Plenty of TVs.

I can't tell you how disappointed I was with this place. We had a $25 off cupon and gave it a try. Not only is the food below average, they even messed up their draft beer. It was obvious that they haven't cleaned their lines in a long time. I'm not a beer snob but I tried two different brews that I like and each one didn't even taste like the it was supposed to. One smelled and tasted so badly that I couldn't even drink it. The wait staff is isn't overworked but they shure don't come to your table very often. I had to flag them down to order and two other times when I wanted something. They were too busy talking to each other by the bar. I like the fact that they have a lot of TVs with sports on but I wouldn't even go there to watch a game because the beer was so bad. The burger was OK but my son's meatball sub was so bad that he took three bites and wouldn't eat the rest. Let me tell you, it had to be pretty bad for my son not to eat a meatball sub. Huge fan of coming here on Sundays for the half-off deal. I am a huge fan of bar games so the darts, pool table, and bags are a great draw during summer. I'm also of fan of catching sports here. The food is nothing crazy, but the reason I dig this place is the socializing aspect. I enjoy going out on the patio and spectating a bags game. I don't even smoke but man is that patio awesome for smoking a stoge. read more
