I have had several sessions where I have been injured. We discussed the matter only to go with one particular technician who was able to do these messages correctly. Unfortunately that technician is not available anymore. We had two sessions booked with that technician. Yet the business is unwilling to refund our money. They say they have highly trained technicians but we have gone through several of their technicians already. I've been coming to The Tox for about a year and am hooked on their lymphatic drainage massages! I started coming here in preparation for my wedding events, but I keep coming back nearly a year later. I always feel so refreshed after a Tox massage! The Tox isn't your typical massage. It's firmer and focuses on getting the lymphatic system moving. The masseuse's movements are a little uncomfortable the first few times, but after getting these massages for a year, I'm used to it. You're encouraged to hydrate and eat as clean as possible for 72 hours after the massage to maximize results. The next morning, I always feel and look less bloated and overall leaner! I've also gotten the Tox facial a few times and saw great results (most notably that I'm less puffy afterward, and my skin feels softer). TMI, but I have IBS. Due to this, I've suffered many days. Almost everyday, I just have been suffering with bloating, water retention, gas, lack of sleep, and all the other uncomfortable things you can think of. So, I have a confession to make, there is this YouTuber, Trisha Paytas, that I end getting some of my ideas from. When she was on a celery juice cleanse, I was on a cleanse. When she wore waist trainers, I wore a waist trainer. When she was talking about how she got a detox massage from here, I decided to give it a try. My masseur was super sweet, targetted my problem areas, and gave me suggestions to make my tummy better. The day I got the massage, I felt great, the three days after, I felt worse than I felt. I was bloated, really uncomfortable, and was retaining so much water that I couldn't fit into my dresses. I thought 'WHAT THE F***!" However, the fourth day, boom! Till this day, I am back to normal. The masseur did say that my body was going to be in detox mode three days, but I just didn't know my body would get worse before it got better. She suggested I come back every other week, but it is $250 per hour session. So...maybe not that often. However, I will be going every month! Dawn is amazing and I highly recommend her. Oh, the palo santo and crystals are free. I took two of each ;) I definitely feel so much better after lighting that in my apartment and the crystal is just pretty. If you are looking for a deep tissue massage moment, this is not the place. Dawn even said this is not that high pressured massage. It is more light and medium pressure and the objective is to target the lymphomatic area? I think it is called lymphomatic detox. Originated from LA, the Tox is your place for unique blends of Japanese ampuku massage and European & Brazilian cellulite massages, in conjunction with the use of a vacuum therapy machine to cleanse your lymphatic system while promoting an overall well-being with a leaner look. Not only that, this place is located right across the street from my childhood home. SERVICE: The services are different each month but essentially they have 3 types of services; 60 minutes master tox, 90 minutes master tox, and the master tox + facial. I opted for their 90 minutes master tox and the session started out with an aromatherapy follow by dry brush. Then the lymphatic massage started from the left leg to the right leg, follow by the abdominal / waist, chest, and then the back side of the body followed by hands and arms. They also use the vacuum therapy machine in the process. COMMUNICATION: The tox is very responsive both via Instagram DM and text. And I love how they're so patience and understanding even after I changed and went back and forth with my appointment multiple times due to my schedule. COVID PROTOCOL: Masks are required at all time. They take temperatures and only allows up to 2 appointments at a time. Shoes are required to be left by the door and a large plastic bag is provided for personal belongings. ADDITIONAL INFO: No foods and drinks at least 30 minutes prior to the appointment. They recommend a session every other week for 2 months, follow by 1 session a month afterwards. VERDICT: I'm not a massage goer but Instagram got me here. A before and after pictures were taken and you could see very subtle results. However I didn't feel any different in terms of well-being after the session but my midsection did get a lot smaller within 4 days, but it really varies based on individual's biological makeup. If I could rate this experience zero stars I would. One of the most uncomfortable and horrific massage experiences I've ever had. Unsure where to start.... Let's start with the facility itself. The dark, cold, LOUD space is far from conducive to any sort of therapeutic experience. The environment was unexpectedly loud, with rap music blaring and disruptive noise seeping into the treatment room through the thin ikea curtains. The temperature of the facility was uncomfortably cold, truly unbearable. I could see my breath. I scheduled two sessions and came with my friend who also could not enjoy her massage. I was embarrassed I dragged her with me. I overheard her through the paper thin curtains tell the her therapist multiple times it was too cold. It's the worst feeling to be naked on a table when the room is an arctic temperature even with the bed warmer it was horrible. The facility felt rundown, unclean, the music was blasting and the massage tables did not have an area for your face when you turn over. Would not recommend this sort of torture. As someone who loves and has had lymphatic treatments this was such a disappointment. read more

Prenatal lymphatic was extremely weak. 1 hour treatment was 50% facial (which was good but being pregnant my priority is to drain legs), arms were about 3 min each and the remaining was legs (front only). This to me is a very incomplete drainage massage from a business that does not understand their clients needs (pregnant). All this for $250 - overpriced for an incomplete job. I have been to many places to try prenatal lymphatic and what they do is place a pillow on the side for you to turn side ways so they can do the back and side of the legs with cupping which is marvelous. I'm giving 3 stars because I showed up 15 minutes before my appt to use the restroom and fill out the form and they made me do outside and wait 10 minutes because of covid?! I was the only one in the waiting room. This makes zero sense at this point. We are not even wearing masks on airplanes or subways anymore. I suffer from extreme bloating due to some Gastro issues and I saw lots of posts on IG about lymphatic drainage massage and the tox in particular so thought I would give it a try. The place is very clean and great ascetic. I forgot my masseuse name but she was friendly. As for the massage itself it was very relaxing and much different than any other massage I experienced. The bed was nice and warm. She offered me a task mask while I was getting my 60 min treatment. I was in the room at the end of the hallway and I guess the employees break room or stock room or something is next door. I should mention they aren't "rooms", just tables divided by thick curtains so I could hear them moving boxes, laughing talking, etc etc for the whole 60 minutes and it was not relaxing at all. They were extremely loud with no regard that people were paying good money to be there. As for the results, much less than I had expected. While the massage was great, didn't really see much slimming or toning of the stomach/body in any way. They recommended coming every 2 weeks but for sub par results and high price, probably will just come if I have a bad flare up of acid reflux or need some digestive help, if I do come back. Also, the final charge on my card was much more than anticipated and when I was checking out there was no mention to any other charges except for adding tip and she never mentioned a final price just that she added the tip. My session was no where near 60 minutes because my appointment time was "cutting into my therapists lunch time" which is what the front desk lady told me, I wasn't offered the before and after photos, which I found out at the end by the front desk lady as well that was supposed to be apart of the experience. The whole thing felt rushed and not effective. I wrote them via email directly after trying to get in touch with a manager and never heard back. The first time I visited The Tox it wasn't a pleasant experience. I had purchased the 90- minute tox package and my therapist rushed me out within a hour and the massage itself was not the greatest. So I complained and Courtney the owner of The Tox reached out to me and accommodated me and asked me to come back again and let me tell you this time they did not give me a reason to complain at all. I went in today, Lauren was my massage therapist and she was amazing she spent a lot of time on me and really knew what she was doing! I'd deff give them a visit if you haven't already. OK, the social media uber presence got me here...Tiny set up in a brownstone on the East Side...They maximized the space, for sure, It was sleek and seemed bigger than it actually was. I wanted to love my massage but it was painful and rough, I could tell it was just a factory massage, not healer hands. The girl was really nice but this place is about the money not the healing. My body is still recovering and yes slightly down in my midsection but nothing compared to the expectation(very very small difference, if any). I don't know what the vacuum really did, it was annoying and painful suction. Im deeply bruised on the areas they focused on, waist and diaphragm. Dont get the 90 all they do in focus on the sides of your waist for 15 minutes each side, no difference but soreness. I wouldn't go again. I usually love massages but this was rough, caused pain and didnt really focus on Lymph drainage in my opinion. Extremely disappointed with the customer service. I just got notice that I have COVID - even though I was vaccinated. I just learned of this because I am about to travel and needed a test. I booked my appointment with the tox this morning for tomorrow. To save my spot - I gave my normal information and my card number. I didn't sign anything, no terms were explained to me over the phone and there was no contractual agreements. I called back hoping to cancel, only to find out I can't and they are going to hold my $333.00 due to policy. I am so frustrated and thought some empathy would be given and they would just refund the amount and that would be that. I understand that sometimes the customer is a dick, but I wasn't being a dick! I was asking for some kindness and flexibility. I understand policies, but I also understand good customer support and customer retention. If you value kindness, and treating customers with empathy and care about retention - do not schedule with the TOX. I was floored by how rude and passive aggressive their branch manager was to me - and she was the manager of the entire salon. So there wasn't anyone I could talk to try and remedy the situation. I was just shut down. Please do better, Tox. Treat your customers with care and kindness and don't hold their money hostage in the name of "policy". Some empathy to my situation ( which is completely OUT OF MY CONTROL ) and I would've rescheduled no problem. But with how rude I was treated by the branch manager - no deal. Initially, I left The Tox feeling like I had made the dumbest mistake since I had moved to New York. I had never had a lymphatic drainage massage before but after seeing supermodel Ashley Moore's Instagram posts about them, I had to sign up for a special. The massage was fantastic and luxurious. I enjoyed everything. However, when it was over and I looked at myself in the mirror, I noticed no difference. So upon walking out of the building I told myself "Okay. I've been swindled. This place is wonderful. The front desk staff was so sweet, and I met the owner and her husband. My legs were about 1/3 the size when I left and my abs even popped (I workout, but don't always see the results!). When I arrived I was greeted by a really chill vibe and cool, urban aesthetic. They even offer free crystals which I thought was a cool little touch! The lymphatic drainage massage itself was really calming and peaceful. My masseuse really took her time and worked on some of my problem areas. I left feeling way less bloated and with just a general sense of calmness. My mom had surgery So I had to be in New York for a while, I took it advantage of there Black Friday sale offer and I booked an appointment with them. the service itself was amazing the woman that provided the service was wonderful however here is the turn of events... at the end of my service I asked her about the one the wand that she used in the facial portion of my service and she said she did not know what the price was but that it was around $89 or so so I tell her OK well I am going to wait because Christmas is right around the corner and normally no one knows what to buy me and that would be a great Christmas gift . We continue talking and she asked if I wanted to book another appointment I said I have to be back in New York on December 16 I would love another service she tells me she's gonna put my name down and that her manager will contact me I said OK no problem. I tip the woman and she proceeds to put the wand in a bag for me I Thank her because I was genuinely shocked at what i thought was a great gift. the next say I got a text from the manager stating that she is going to charge me for the next service I tell her things have changed I no longer have to be in the city on the 16th and that I live in Maryland and with the impending shut down I'm just not sure when I'm gonna be coming back. She said OK no problem I'm just going to charge you for the wand.. I am extremely confused so I text her back and say I'm sorry but The wand was gifted to me she likes the comment the little heart. I think it's the end of it, minutes later I get notification that she has charged me $130 for the wand. I text her back and say per my previous text I thought the wind was a gift considering I left and I was not charged for it and I tell her about the conversation at the woman. I proceeded to tell her that I want to return it, she replies and says due to Covid we are not excepting returns. I tell her that this was an unauthorized charge and that I am going to be contesting the charge. She then states will make an exception and you can return it but you won't get your money back until it's returned. now seriously it's not even about the 130 it's about the principle and the lack of disclosure for me. how are you going to have a client leave with merchandise and not make them aware that you will be charging them that is completely misleading and unethical.
