Being new to an area is tough as it is, but trying to find a new barber might be the hardest part. One of my coworkers told me about Traditional Barber shop so I decided to try it. My friend told me to call and ask for Gonzalo, so I did. Phone call was friendly and efficient. Gonzalo told me to come in that day. Outside of Gonzalo being super friendly, professional and easy going, his cut was even better. Crisp clean cut. This guy is great at what he does and master of his craft. These guys are absolutely amazing at their craft! I went to this place a little bit over a year ago and I've been going back since. I live in Midcity Los Angeles and I absolutely do not mind making the drive here. It's worth it. Xavier is super awesome. I've had either Marteen or his partner cut my hair and/or my son's hair a few times now and they've all been great. This review should have been done a long time ago. I started coming here soon after Xavier opened in 2014. Back story: I was looking for a haircut and remembered that there was a barber shop on Richmond. I liked the previous owner and hoped she was still there. To my surprise, it had closed and was under new ownership. I needed a haircut and there was no wait so I decided to try it out. And have been coming here ever since. He finishes each haircut with a razor shave. And I noticed that he also does facial hair shaves and I was interested as I had never had a straight-edge razor shave before. I was totally impressed! He does a hot towels massage, then oils and shaving cream before using the straight-edge. Nice and smooth afterwards. The ambiance is simple hardwood floors, white tile and brick for the walls. It's small, only three chairs, quiet and peaceful. A nice relaxing haircut. read more

I moved here a few months ago and frantically searched for a barber. After a couple let downs I finally found Marteen at the barbershop. He asked me what I wanted and then even suggested a few things that would suit me better. The haircut was about 30-45 minutes long and you could really tell he was making sure everything looked perfect. Recently moved to el Segundo and was looking for a new barber. The place is small by mighty and gives off a very intimate and relaxed ambiance. My first trip there I had the pleasure of being cut my Marteen who provides very professional recommendations on styles and cuts. Because of the style of cut, he recommended I try Xavier. My next few cuts have been by Xavier and I have been very impressed. His fades and tapers are great and he really gets the blend on point. This barber shop is excellent. It's a small place with an old-school, mellow vibe. It's tucked away on a quiet street with a nice view of Southeast El Segundo. Xavier is awesome. He takes his time and puts great attention and detail into his work. I am lazy and know nothing about hair. I usually only get a haircut every 6 months. I wanted to try something new (an undercut) but other than that I had no idea. He was really cool about my complete lack of knowledge and patiently explained all the options, walking me through the haircut styles and the different ways to trim my beard into the cut. I told him to use his better judgment and do what he thought best and am very happy with the result. He answered a ton of my questions and was very insightful. I've recently started going to Xavier at the Traditional Barber and I'm hooked! Everything about the experience is great. I like the shop look and atmosphere. Relaxing vibes with the Jazz music. I have had a beard for years and have been upset with both other barbers and my own attempts to make it look good. No worries now! Xavier is a pro with the clippers and a razor. I requested a zero fade with taper, with a trim on top. It's quite a meticulous cut to perform, especially if there is great attention paid to detail. This is the Best Barber Shop HANDS DOWN! I've been going to this barber since 2006! I was 18 when I met "X". The owner and the best barber. This shop has grown over the years just as I have. My hair cut is always on point and it's always exactly how I want it. Most times better than what I asked for. Each barber has a keen eye for detail and are very respectful and attentive to each customers needs. They take it back old school with the hot towels and razor shaves for each cut. These guys are pure artist at their craft. I must say "X" is the best. He cuts your hair, as if he is going to get out the chair and walk around as if he were you. He strives for perfection. Very knowledgeable about tips and tricks to keep hair healthy and groomed. He even makes his own beard oils. Top secret stuff lol. But if you really ask I'm sure he will share tips with you and even rub a sample of it on for your beard. He does it all, any cut you can think of. And he also does line designs out of this word. Any job interview I've had, "X" cut me up. And I've gotten everyone. To be honest, I'm writing this post and I'm going to see "X" tomorrow to get chopped for an interview. Wish me luck. I made an appointment with him today via text, and tomorrow it's on. He is always on time and is always fair to customers with timing and non appointments and folks who stroll in late.
