I hadn't visited since the week before everything shut down for COVID, and I'm happy to say it's just as great as I remembered. The vibe is cozy and understated, which is a big part of the charm. It doesn't feel overly commercialized or like they're rushing people in and out; there's a real sense of care behind the experience. The wines are excellent, and the pricing feels very fair, especially since nothing about the experience feels over the top or pretentious. We came on a last-minute trip and weren't able to get a reservation online, but they were kind enough to accommodate us as walk-ins. We spent about an hour there, enjoyed the tasting, and ended up buying a few bottles. We'll definitely be back soon, and I'd love to join the wine club once we start drinking more wine. We walked around the entire property and saw no one. There were only three cars in the parking lot, including ours and the front desk employee's car, yet we were told they were "fully booked" when we asked about moving to a larger room. The room itself was not great. The bed is extremely hard and squeaks with every movement. On top of that, the AC does not work. We told the front desk before leaving for dinner about the AC and were told someone would come fix it. When we returned, the room was even hotter than before & it felt like walking into a sauna. The windows don't open, so the only way to get air in is by opening the doors, which obviously lets bugs in. The "free wine tasting" was also frustrating. At check-in, we were told that we would get complimentary tastings at the tasting room. When we went to the tasting room, we were told they were "too busy" for tastings and that we would need to buy glasses of wine instead. We didn't want to make a scene, so we ended up purchasing a bottle and a glass, which came out to $85 & we never received the tastings we were told were included with our stay. Overall, this has been a terrible experience. Between the uncomfortable room, broken AC, lack of guests/staff on the property, and being denied the complimentary tasting we were promised, I would not recommend staying here. Do not let the 4.6 rating fool you.

The free breakfast is in the main building and standard HIE: they had pancakes, bacon, and sausages on top of usual continental options. And a fancy, automated coffee machine. The kitchen staff was working hard to get everything topped off as soon as an item started to get low. I also used the gym, which is located next to the indoor pool and it was good for a quick workout: some treadmills, elypticals, free weights. The check-in and check-out were quick and easy and I consider the price point a good value. We had a nice time and if going to Paso next time, I'll defiently keep HIE in mind.

I walked into the…read morefront lobby area and was immediately greeted by a lonely front desk to the left and huge pile of caution taped boxes being moved on the right. The walls are completely bare, stripped of paint and most of the decor, but penciled-in instructions of what SHOULD go on the wall is definitely still visible. I thought I had made a huge mistake from the minute I walked in. While I was told all amenities are still open and accessible during this time, I think it's important to set expectations. The outdoor fire pit sits directly to the right of the entrance and borders sidewalk... the neighboring view is of the parking lot. The "free breakfast" is nothing like you see on their website. There is no brightly lit room with cute kitchen themed decor... or places to sit. Rather, it is a set of 3-4 chaffing dishes, arranged on a folding table, next to a "coffee station" atop of a random cabinet haphazardly placed just outside the 2nd floor elevator doors. The highly recognizable pancake machine is legit for display only because of the two days I was here it was not functional... very disappointing. The "newly renovated rooms" looked nice... but that was truly where the buck stopped. Upon arrival, the neighboring room happened to slam the door at just the right time that a plastic covering popped off the wall and left exposed wires at eye level. Uhm what?! It is worth mentioning, that I booked a room with two queen beds. The beds are very tall and while comfortable, were horribly squeaky at the base. Even the slightest shift in the bed led to horrible squeaking from the boxspring. And to make matters worse, the walls in the room are extremely thin... and the front door is hollow core (Google it) so you can hear EVERYTHING. Restful sleep? Think again. And unfortunately, it doesn't end there. The bathroom vent fan in our room didn't work so if you take a hot shower, it immediately turns into an unexpected steam room. (Not just the bathroom, the WHOLE room. No joke. Check the windows and you'll see what I mean!) If you move the mixer valve just a little too far away from the hottest setting? Prepare for an instant ice shower. There was seemingly, no in-between. And the best part, If you are sitting on the toilet, be careful if someone else tries to open the door because your kneecaps are doomed. Long story short... my family has officially barred me from making any hotel reservations in the future as a result of this stay, and honestly... I can't blame them. This was one of the toughest hotel experiences I've had in a long time.

The views from our Jupes were beautiful, and the atmosphere was exactly what I needed. During the day, we would go into town to get food, visit stores, or explore the area. We felt comfortable leaving our belongings behind because the campground felt safe and secure. The staff was also friendly, and the whole place had a calm, welcoming feel. One thing I really appreciated was the quiet environment. They have a noise policy, and it made the campground feel peaceful instead of chaotic. It was a wonderful place to relax, clear my mind, and work on things for my mom's memorial while still having space to breathe. It is often very windy in this area from 2-5 pm give or take so bring a windbreaker and a hat . We loved watching the otters from our tent in the most comfortable wooden deck chairs. The sea lions were doing their mating calls day and night which was hilarious and added to the fun culture of the place. Pack a sound machine if this would bother you in the night. The staff were very kind and communicated well. We got awesome $5 shirts at the welcome store and the lady working let our toddler use her binoculars to look out at the sea life which really made his day. She was very sweet and deserves a raise! There was bocce ball and cornhole towards the entrance. Very nice and clean bathrooms, center of the campground. A private beach located down the hill. Everything was dog friendly! Free coffee and cocoa at the welcome shop during store open hours. Tons of informative information given to us about the history of the land and its people, upon check in. Really the whole experience was great and we have no complaints, only praises. Thank you!
