I was pleasantly surprised by this La Quinta. When you step in, the lounge is updated and modern looking. It's so pretty! The gentleman helping us was very kind and helpful. The gym is open 24/7 and is pretty clean. Space is limited, but it contains the essentials such as elliptical, treadmill, bike, machine, and weight bench. They have towels and a water fountain in there. The rooms are large, including the bathroom. Lots of space to move about. You can see that there's still aspects that are older, but it's clean in the room. I didn't care for the bed fitted sheet because it was so fuzzy from being worn out/used. The room was very clean. They have complimentary makeup wipes on the bathroom counter. There's complimentary breakfast and it's the standard stuff you'd get anywhere, like eggs, potatoes, sausage, coffee, pastries, some fruits. They do have some local bakery pastries from SLO like chocolate croissants and muffins, which is cool. They have a water station for you to refill your water bottles. Plenty of parking outside. Overall I'd highly recommend staying here!

We're usually a party of 6 when we come into town, so we normally would stay at local vacation rentals or at an Airbnb when we come into town, however this was a quick trip out for my husband and me, so we opted to booked here. Conveniently located off State Route 46, it's a quick drive to DTPR, neighboring cities, and some local wineries. Our room (and bathroom) was spacious and clean, and the complimentary amenities they offered were spot on! A continental breakfast is included with your stay. The pool and spa were well maintained, and the gym is open 24-hours. Parking is effortless, and the surrounding area is well-lit and safe at night. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Special mention to Yire, who was so kind, especially with our check-in process. Great communication via text message too! La Quinta By Wyndham far exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely stay at this property again. CHEERS till next time...

This July, we stayed at La Quinta in Paso Robles overnight in order to have a place to crash after going to the rodeo. Though I've stayed in their larger suites with balconies before, their standard queen rooms are also comfortable and spacious. Our room felt very clean and comfortable. It was a pleasure waking up to a very dark room (great curtains). Their complimentary breakfast was perfect - we had eggs, sausage, fruit, and mini waffles. I can't wait to stay here again someday.

First time I came here, I think they gave me the room someone else didn't want because I heard the front desk ask the gentleman if he touched anything in the room. That room was really great and spacious and more than enough room for one person with a couch, bar sink and lots of space. The next two times I came here it was smaller compared to the 1st time, but nice high ceiling, clean but I hate the bathroom. No space for my toothbrush or such on the sink, or barely any room. The shower has little pressure and barely any water comes out of the shower head. I ended up having to take a bath because the shower head frustrated me too much. This place does have a gym, pool, happy hour and free breakfast. The breakfast is better here than other places. Has the standard juices, coffee, tea, waffle maker, pancake maker, eggs, protein- bacon, sausage, etc, cereal, yogurt, sliced fruits, pastry. More breakfast items than most and they rotate their menu for the eggs and protein.

We recently visited Paso Robles. This La Quinta was a perfect place to stay cuz it was at a great distance from pretty much everything we wanted to do, so it worked out perfectly. The lobby area was renovated recently so looks pretty great coming in. It was definitely much more than what we expected. The service was good. Breakfast was included with the stay which was pretty decent. They had eggs, bacon, potatoes, breads, waffles, bagels and even biscuits and gravy. All of which was fresh and tasted very good. The rooms are pretty spacious and clean and had an extra sofa bed. It also had a refrigerator, coffee machine and a microwave. We were fairly impressed by our stay here. Paso Robles on the Whole was a lovely place to visit.

For the price you pay, this place is surprisingly nice! Staff is a tad untrained, but most of the other aspects are good.

So random, but we just stayed there and loved the mattress so much, I wanted to find out what the make was? We stayed in the King Room

I just checked and they removed the tags that would have said the name of the mattress, but it does seem like they sell the matrss if they are part of Wynn. Just Google or Bing search: Wynn Dream Bed - Complete Mattress Set I will note it's costy!

For my Wife's Birthday this past November, we booked our first trip to Paso Robles…read more To be perfectly honest... I don't know why, but I always thought that Paso Robles or "Paso" as it's referred to, was some Podunk town that just wasn't worth stopping for. Yeah, I've passed it so many times while traveling North on "THE 101" or simply "101" as they refer to it in NorCal.... ;) (IYKYK) And all those times I've passed through, I've never once thought about pulling off the freeway to see what Paso was all about. Well, just like Julia Robert's character said in Pretty Woman while shopping on Rodeo Drive.... "Big Mistake. Big. HUGE!" Yeah, just like that sales clerk in Pretty Woman I too made a HUGE mistake! Plot Twist: I am the Good Looking Not Quite the Silver Fox Richard Gere of this story. =) ----So let's break down Paso & The Ava Hotel---- For my wife's Birthday Weekend, we made reservations at... The Ava Hotel Paso Robles. Mind you, we left mid-day from our home and by the time we arrived to Paso and pulled into the Hotel parking lot, it was already dark, but right away I could tell that the Hotel my wife booked us was Top Notch. First Impression: Sheesh, my wife sure knows how to spoil herself for HER Birthday weekend. Haha. Once parked, I had my wife and 3 girls head into the lobby out of the cold while I lugged what felt like 12 suitcases... We were only there for three nights; do you really need a suit case just for your change of shoes?? Gotta love Girls... Plot twist: The suitcase with the extra shoes.... WAS MINE!!!!!! Jk, maybe, not really, I'll never tell... =) Upon checking in, I immediately noticed how Great the staff was; Kind, Welcoming and from the looks of the place, even at night, I just knew we were going to enjoy our weekend stay here. ----The Room---- Everything you'd expect, but More! We had 2 comfy Queens, a large screen TV, a mini fridge, a clean bathroom and a Great standalone shower! Being that this hotel is Brand New, everything was clean and felt nearly unused which really made for an enjoyable stay. The next morning, my wife's actual Birthday, we got dressed, headed downstairs and celebrated with a Birthday Mimosa from their Lobby Bar. It was the perfect start to our day and to my wife's Special Day From there we headed out to explore Downtown Paso Robles which BTW, The Ava Hotel is what I would call the start of the Downtown area so it's literally the PERFECT place to stay if you, yourself come to Paso Robles one day. And to those still with us, Remember earlier when I said I made a "Big Mistake. Big. Huge!" By simply thinking that Paso Robles was some Podunk, no-nothin town that wasn't worth exiting the freeway for?? Well, I'll be the 1st to admit. I was wrong!!! Paso is one of my new favorite Central Coast towns that I can't wait to come back to. The fun little shops, the great eateries, Wine, more Wine, Did I mention there's Wine? Yeah, loads and loads of world-renowned wineries specializing in French Reds, but they've got whites too so don't stress. Not a wine person? More of a beer drinker? Paso's Got You!! Come check out Firestone Walker Brewing Co., home of the "805" beer; the regions Phone Area Code. Yeah, drink local baby!! So after enjoying breakfast at the Cowgirl Cafe (Epic Review coming soon), we went to the downtown park at let our kids play with the locals. We then hit several of the eclectic shops, including a local bookstore where my wife was like a kid in a candy store and The Spice of Life Tea Shop which I fell in love with (reviews of everywhere we went NEXT, so stay tuned) and finally made our way back to The Ava to take a break and rest our pups (our feet). Upon walking back to The Ava Hotel, I couldn't help but be in Awe of this well manicured, architecturally forward, beautifully designed building. To be honest, It looks and it feels more like a Resort and I felt so spoiled to be apart of its beginning days and I'm proud to give it the 5 stars it deserves. So... What have we learned?? Step 1: Book a room at the Ava Hotel. Step 2: Put your wife's name on the luggage tag of your suitcase for the extra shoes you really brought. Step 3: Bring one empty suitcase for all the Romantasy books your wife's gonna buy at Spare Time Books! To Paso.... To The Ava Hotel... I can't wait to come back!

When we checked in and got to our room, the property felt completely empty. We were the only guests we could see, which made the whole place feel eerie and uncomfortable. We walked around the entire property and saw no one. There were only three cars in the parking lot, including ours and the front desk employee's car, yet we were told they were "fully booked" when we asked about moving to a larger room. The room itself was not great. The bed is extremely hard and squeaks with every movement. On top of that, the AC does not work. We told the front desk before leaving for dinner about the AC and were told someone would come fix it. When we returned, the room was even hotter than before & it felt like walking into a sauna. The windows don't open, so the only way to get air in is by opening the doors, which obviously lets bugs in. The "free wine tasting" was also frustrating. At check-in, we were told that we would get complimentary tastings at the tasting room. When we went to the tasting room, we were told they were "too busy" for tastings and that we would need to buy glasses of wine instead. We didn't want to make a scene, so we ended up purchasing a bottle and a glass, which came out to $85 & we never received the tastings we were told were included with our stay. Overall, this has been a terrible experience. Between the uncomfortable room, broken AC, lack of guests/staff on the property, and being denied the complimentary tasting we were promised, I would not recommend staying here. Do not let the 4.6 rating fool you.

Our room was right next to it so when our window was open we could hear the trickling waterfall. The picnic area was also simple and sweet. The customer service was the first thing we noticed- the person who checked us in was upbeat and cheerful and there was zero hassle getting our room key and also the run down of what was offered during our stay. When we returned for pool towels it was a new Inn attendant who was equally cheery and well spoken, alerting us to pool hours & how to return the towels. The inn is also perfectly located near the event center and dozens of businesses so if you need coffee, groceries, gas or a restaurant it's all right there. It's a short 1 minute drive to downtown, and the on ramp for nearby wineries is even closer. Perfect stay!

Unfortunately, the price point suggests a true five-star experience, while the condition and maintenance of the hotel simply do not. During our stay, we experienced plumbing issues as well as problems with roof leaks. More concerning is that friends we recommended the hotel to also experienced plumbing problems during their stay. Their solution? They were handed a plunger. At a hotel charging luxury rates, that is simply not an acceptable response to a guest experiencing a plumbing problem. Hotel Cheval has so much going for it--the location is wonderful, the property is charming, and we genuinely wanted to continue loving it. But luxury is more than atmosphere and a premium room rate. It also means excellent maintenance, attention to detail, and service that resolves problems without making them the guest's responsibility. At this price point, the infrastructure and level of service need to match the promise. Right now, they don't. I hope management invests in the property because Hotel Cheval could absolutely live up to the experience its pricing suggests.
