My family and I visited this place when we were in New Jersey last month visiting family. We were…read moreexcited to see that they offered gluten free mochi donuts so we knew we had to come try them out! The lady working greeted us as we entered the cafe and was very friendly. I ordered a flat white and my husband a mocha. Both coffees were great and had perfect flavor. For mochi donuts we got the churro, oreo and chocolate sprinkles. They were so soft and delicious! Definitely recommend this place. Also have sandwiches and a few other drinks you can get so there is something for everyone. I wish we had a cafe like this in Iowa! I will be back next time I'm in town.

2D Cafe Tornado immediately grabs your attention with its super cool 2D concept. The…read moreblack-and-white, comic-style design is incredibly fun and makes the space feel playful and unique which is very Instagram-able and definitely a spot you come to for the experience and photos alone. I absolutely loved the idea and the overall vibe of the cafe. That said, we came specifically for coffee and mochi donuts, and unfortunately those fell a bit short. The coffee was just okay, and the mochi donuts weren't great - ours tasted on the staler side, which was disappointing. Overall, I really think this place has a lot of potential. The service is great and the concept is very unique for this area, and with some improvements to the quality and freshness of the food and drinks, it could easily become a go-to spot. Worth checking out for the aesthetic, but I'm hoping the menu catches up to how cool the space is.

One savory crepe and one sweet, both delicious and unusual, plus the coffee was hot and good. Also: refills! A dying art.

It is rare to meet people with such a zest and excitement for people and music! The atmosphere is cozy and the music as well as food is always wonderful! The food is made in an extremely small kitchen but with great care so be patient! All the food is Made to Order so make sure to place your order early in the show. There is never a cover-charge for music which is nice. The music is also extremely varied depending on the night so you are sure to find something you like. It is nice to hear such awesome local musical talents! You always meet wonderful and friendly people and can really appreciate the feeling of being in a small intimate cafe. They generally will pass around a money box with donations that go towards the artists since they aren't paid-nice to contribute if you can! Art exhibits on the walls always rotate as well and are for sale which adds to the unique decor. Give it a shot-you won't be disappointed!

Monticello Ave has turned into a ghost town in regard to food choices. Customers are buying one coffee here & taking up a table for four using their laptops for hours on end working. I love their whitefish salad & have had to walk out several times before ordering because there is literally not one seat available on 2 floors!! I spend an average of $30 every time I go in, & someone who purchased a tea 3 hours ago is taking up 4 seats. What caused me to write this review today was the actual "Cuddle Puddle" that was taking place on the couch this afternoon right in front of the register. Three people with no food or drinks were snuggling & playing on their phones without one crumb of food or even an empty drink cup in front of them. There was also a woman holding up a table for 4 while going outside to take business calls on her phone. Is this WeWork or a coffeeshop? Put a time limit on the tables, & no one should be treating this place like their parents living room to take a nap in the free air conditioning. Oh & to the staff member that called me "Sir" today- I am a woman. This whole experience was so uncomfortable I will get my whitefish from Wonder Bagel moving forward.
