The cocktail was a super sweet and lovely flavor with very little alcohol bite. The entrées were good, but the superb taste of the rest of our course was an unfair comparison. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! 5 *'s on the food - never disappoints. The service - yikes! We did not get the cocktail menu upon arriving, and the waitress said she'd grab one. After 10 minutes we asked again. We ordered 2 beers, 2 sweet teas, an appetizer and a kids meal. The beer came, then the kids meal, and 5 minutes later the sweet teas. When our appetizer arrived it was incorrect...but since we'd already waited 15 minutes ate it. Our dinners (another 20 minutes) finally came - and were delicious. A relief since they'd been sitting on the pass for a while. Food was epic! The chaos of the server, not so much. I would not recommend taking kids there, the wait for all the food is too long, even though we asked for everything to come out at once. We will be doing takeout from now on. Nailed it! Everything we experienced was perfect from reception to end of meal!!! Rockfish, perfectly cooked risotto, original take on Fried pickles and fries, hand breaded tender chicken tenders for my kid, loved the calamari with house made sauce and banana peppers. I have been to Coopers Tavern on the many occasions I visit family around the Richmond area. I've had various plates fork the fish and chips, hamburger, breakfast and this time the Filet mignon . The steak was well cooked and was tender with an almost melt in your mouth texture . The mashed potatoes were well made and were full of flavor . The Demi glaze was good final touch on the steak and pushed the flavor to another level. I'd continue to recommend Coopers Tavern to whoever would look to try it. read more

Cooper's Tavern is kind of a hidden gem in Quinton right off of Route 60 and the 64 exit at Bottoms Bridge. Great draft beer selection, nice big bar, excellent food. We've been here a number of times and the food we've had is consistently excellent. Steaks, salads, fish and chips, tacos, and the meatball appetizer are all good pics. Try the house burger which I think is called the McDoogal burger - a gourmet take on the Big Mac. Delicious! Friendly people in here, all around great vibe. read more

After a couple hours at the winery nearby, I zoomed in on Google maps to see which eateries were close by on the way back to Richmond. Cooper's Tavern was right around the corner, so I directed us there. It's definitely an interesting building. You wouldn't expect a restaurant to be there, let alone a "tavern." They do have a big "come grub" sign adjacent to the parking lot so you have some idea that you're in the right place. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server came over for our drinks. I ordered a riesling, which I realized I didn't necessarily need after coming from a winery, but it was good nonetheless. We started with the pickle fries, which were delivered in maybe two minutes flat. They're definitely of the frozen variety, but they were tasty regardless. I ordered the steak sandwich but modified it pretty substantially so that it was just cheese and mayo on it, instead of mustard, because that seemed like an odd combo. The flavor was good, but the steak was super chewy. I tried to warm up the other half the next day and couldn't chew it at all. The fries that came with it were good, as was the caesar salad I ordered as well. I also heard great things about the fish and chips, which are apparently a popular item there, according to our friendly and prompt server. The price was reasonable for the amount of food we ordered. I don't really foresee myself in the Quinton area often, but I'd recommend this spot as a viable option for a meal. read more

I came here the first time in 2024 and ordered the scallop entree for 39 Dollars, there were 3 small scallops... literally the smallest scallops you could possibly get at your local Food Lion! So a year later I say you know what let's give them another shot. I said let's go with a Ribeye, you can't mess up a Ribeye... But oh can they! These price gouging people take the "Caps" and "Tail" off the ribeyes (Caps are the top piece of the ribeye that is the most tender and delicious pos part of a Ribeye). First visit to Coopers Tavern and Taphouse. When I couldn't decide between 2 entrees I went with the Rockfish and Risotto with Asparagus at the waitresses suggestion. It was AMAZING! The fish was perfectly cooked, the risotto was creamy and buttery, the asparagus was lightly cooked to perfection. My husband really enjoyed his filet as well. The presentation and plating is nicely done. The Kale and Artichoke dip appetizer was really good as well. We will be back for more! Wife and I like to go here every time we visit New Kent. The restaurant is comfortable and has a cozy atmosphere. Their dinner meals are always excellent. Mixed drinks can be hit or miss depending on who is behind the bar, and the service can be slow (but that's not the staff's fault, it's generally because they are full or understaffed). This is going to take a few points. (5 stars for food) 1. Food, Menu and decor : the food was great!! I felt like I was transported out of new Kent into down town Richmond But we had a place to park. It was a Win all the way around. Burger was great. Crab cake was great. Oh and the meatballs too. I just deleted the book about how odd and/or non existent the service was. I really don't think it was all the server. I just think the server got way over their head. For starters- if I wasn't meeting family here for dinner, then I would have never known it was back where it's located. I didn't see any signs for the place, but I quickly learned they don't need advertising as the place filled up. We had a rather large part of 8. Everything was SOOOO superb! Our waitress came and got our drink orders, which everyone loved their cocktails. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer and calamari and both were out of this world. We had a few questions about the menu and our waitress walked us through which made up our minds. I went with the rockfish with risotto (best I've ever had) and asparagus and it was fantastic. Others had shrimp tacos n fish and chips, which they enjoyed! At no time during our visit were we without drinks nor did we have a long wait for food. Our visit to Coopers tavern was a first for me, but not my last! It was a 5 out of 5 and still has us talking a week later! Not one complaint and this place is a true hidden gem! read more

Dining in on Saturday night around 6, was not crowded but a little busier by the time we left. Service and ambiance was good. Shrimp tacos were too salty and drowning in aioli with watery cabbage. Served with rice and beans which were too hot (temperature). Also, the plates they were served on were broken (not just chipped) on the edges.
