I love Vom Fass. Today was my second time stopping in here and I was in search of the delicious…read moreBear Garlic oil I had gotten last tim. They did not have this but once the very nice lady that works there knew what I wanted she was able to recommend items I would enjoy. She is so patient and kind. I enjoy the fact that she is extremely knowledgeable about the products and gave me a taste of everything I asked for, even mixing oil and vinegar together for me so I could taste the combination. She took her time explaining the bottle sizes (and a bonus, I didn't know before is that if you keep your bottle and clean them, bring them back and they will refill them with a new oil. It saves on the cost a bit because you don't have to buy new bottles) There is a very nice stock of alcohol as well here and they are all so unique. I am not a drinker so I skipped that but the selection of oils and vinegars is just as impress. They also have things like risotto, spices, chutneys, honey, chocolates and more. It is a very cute and welcoming space where you are greeted, allowed to explore and then assisted which makes for a great shopping experience. There is also a man who works the shop who I spoke with last time and I'd like to acknowledge that he is equally as friendly and knowledgeable about products and very friendly and helpful. Now I want to say here that I really feel when it comes to oil and vinegar you get the quality you pay for. Bot only does Vom Fass stock items using herbs and fruits that are in season but they are truly quality items. I am health conscious so enjoy using oil and vinegar of salads or veggie platters and Lao use flavored oils for roasting vegetables and each time I have used a Vom Fass item, I have been blown away by the taste so their products are definitely splurge worthy. Finally they host wine tastings and meal events that look fantastic and I will be signing up for some events here in the future. On the way out, the gentleman who works there came and opened the door for us and void us goodbye and safe travels. I appreciate this step and again felt not only welcomed but appreciated.

The oils and Vinegars are in barrels lined up on the shelves, with labels that show pricing and a brief description. You are able to taste all that they have to offer, just reach out to staff for assistance. I saw quite a few different olive oils i wanted to purchase, but opted to go with the garlic infused olive oil. I did sample it, and it was absolutely delicious. You can definitely taste the garlic. It was almost as if i was eating a fresh baked slice of garlic bread. I'm looking forward to going back and purchasing the chili Olive oil, and the pomegranate Vinegar. The gentleman working at the time stated Vom Fass has been around since 2006. Beautiful clean layout. Plenty of parking outside and friendly staff! They offer tastings in store so be sure to check them out. Also, they are an Eco conscious store, so all their products are in reusable glass containers. Bring in your clean glasses to refill.

As I learn my new hometown, those needs are being fulfilled by new discoveries. I have always enjoyed buying my olive oils and balsamics from small speciality shops. Especially, little mom and pop stores. Their personalized customer service always seems to go a step beyond. I find that to be true here at the, Olive Oil Marketplace. Moving in a pandemic and cooking more at home while restaurants are shut down for eat-in, my inventory of olive oil was getting depleted fast. While I was shopping for furniture across the street, I noticed OOM as I returned to my car. Needing to stock up on olive oil, I popped inside and was pleasantly surprised. Their offerings were as extensive as some of my favorite boutiques in STL, so I felt at ease. The sales associate working that day was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She asked about my preferences and different things that I liked. She also offered me little samplings to assist me in making my decisions. I was immediately sold on the, Jalapeño Olive Oil. Her letting me sample and sharing her opinion on, Tunisian EVOO sold me. It was so smooth and it was organic, too. In addition to the two bottles of olive oil, I purchased some Italian Herb Balsamic. No kitchen is complete without a bottle of it. While I was checking out, they signed me up for their rewards program. Which is a good thing, because I know I am going to be a regular. Good inventory and customer service is going to keep me coming back. To my surprise, you get a small free bottle on your birthday and since mine was just a day or two away, they honored it. I selected, Hickory Smoked Balsamic. Yum-Yum! When: November 14, 2020 Why: Needed Olive Oil

Now I am overwhelmed by the deliciousness of that hot sauce that I have to put it on everything. This hot sauce is so delicious, it makes everything taste great. I have never had a hot sauce like this in my life. My only complaint is it only comes in a little bottle, because I always need more. This hot sauce is designed for my taste buds, it makes food an experience and everything is better to my taste buds. The sweetness, spicy, hot, salty and fire, it's all there. Nothing overwhelms the other flavors; they all work in perfect harmony to to bring pleasure to the pallet. Everything I put this hot sauce on was enhanced to another level of a great taste explosion in my mouth. Even chips tasted better with this on it...Makes a boring salad come alive and create a party in my mouth. This hot sauce is almost like making love, you taste the sweetness, then a slight salty tease and then the slow release of a pleasurable hot fire hits your mouth and as soon as it peaks you start wanting the next drop on your tongue and lips. It makes your mouth water with ecstasy, your mouth becomes numb with pleasure and then you want more. Who would have known combining two peppers together would make such harmonies pleasure with everything they come in contact with. I recommend this hot sauce over all the others. It has everything I ever wanted, it is sophistication.

I would love to get into the store and get my hands on a package of those, but alas, unless I shop between Monday and Friday, 11-4, I am out of luck. Imagine my horror as we pulled up at 2pm on a Saturday (after coming here on Saturdays before) after going to the store and buying everything my hubby needed to make me his amazing Lobster Ravioli, which is actually Midwest Pastas ravioli, but he makes a killer sauce for it, and its closed. So basically if you have a 9-5 job, you will never, ever be able to discover the wonderful things they offer here, which is a shame, and odd. Please for the love of God, open back up on Saturdays, thanks.

Midwest Pasta provides fresh pasta and flour to local restaurants. So they make their products in batches -- but anyone can walk in and purchase. There is always a supply of fresh pasta in the refrigerated section, as well as some frozen. I've had their mushroom ravioli, fettucini, gnocchi, pappardelle, and meat tortellini. Everything is DELICIOSO!! Their customer service is awesome. I stopped in to buy some fresh pasta, and was advised on what might pair best for my meal plan; and because I was traveling got an ice pack to help the pasta stay cooled. There is also a very small display of imported olives, olive oil, pesto, etc. However, the options are limited and display is limited to just a couple shelves. This is not a huge grocery, but it will accommodate small foodies out exploring the Cherokee Street Benton Park neighborhood. Double check store hours. They DO close early. So be sure to check hours and plan your visit accordingly. You'll miss out if you think you're stopping by after work or on the weekend.
