BEWARE: Apparently Refrigeration Is a Secret VIP Benefit. Now I understand why this location has a low star rating. This review is for the UPS Store at 8226 Menaul Blvd NE in Albuquerque. For approximately nine months, I had refrigerated medication shipped to this location as a UPS Access Point. Every shipment was refrigerated, so I reasonably believed temperature-sensitive medications would be handled appropriately. Then one shipment was left unrefrigerated and ruined. An employee acknowledged the issue and documented it. Management had my contact information. No one called. No one apologized. No one followed up. When the replacement shipment arrived, I finally heard from management not to apologize, but to explain that refrigeration is merely a "courtesy" for non-mailbox customers and that I should not expect my medication to be refrigerated unless I pay for a mailbox. So apparently the policy is: refrigerate medication for nine months, never tell the customer it's optional, leave a shipment out and ruin it, then explain afterward that the customer should have somehow known better. Even more impressive was being told that the store bears no responsibility because I didn't pick up the package fast enough. Apparently accepting temperature-sensitive medication and then failing to store it properly is not the issue the customer is. If refrigeration is not guaranteed, customers should be told before packages are accepted, not after a shipment is damaged. Based on my experience, if you have refrigerated medication, choose a different UPS Access Point. read more

Mr Asif A is making changes for the better. He is supportive of his staff. He was super helpful in assisting me to locate a package i had misplaced in a recent move. If you read the 1 star reviews, you'll see the owner's son, Nicholas is unable to address the facts, that this store operates ROGUE. He just blames the people (mostly women and veterans) who expected the same level of customer service we've gotten, for decades from UPS. This STORE HATES Amazon and I had the MOST nightmare experience here because Nicholas can't hold himself accountable and his parents, (the silent owners) John and Roberta won't hold him accountable either. Read the other reviews, it's all there. This is a rogue UPS store. The customer service is not 1/10th the level I've had at other stores and it's not the employees, it's the leadership. I feel very sorry for the women employees at the store because Nicholas disparaged them to me, then when I was upset, he changed his tune and said how perfect they all were and that I was lying. He accuses all the people with bad reviews here on WHY it's their fault and at 27 yo lectures them on how they should behave, even though we are ALL saying the same thing. When I spoke up and explained to Nicholas, why I felt like he was incompetent, as a leader, he breached the contract, for the 3rd time in close to 2 years. You're not allowed to say you're going to sue him without him slandering you and accusing you of things, that anyone who recognizes a power abuser would investigate. On Veteran's Day, Nicholas, thought it was appropriate to put an older, female veteran down, ask him, if he's such a good person, why that day? My experience is he's a slime ball and he treats customers like they owe him and all you have to do is READ his replies to people that criticize the SOPs here. Unless his parents are extremely sick and lying in a hospital bed, dying somewhere, they want their store run the way he runs it. You never once intervened on anyone's behalf nor did you actually step up & claimed you were the owner. That's even worse. Yes, I told Nick he was an asshole after all this happened. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! I drove across town to drop off a return for Amazon and was told by Nicholas that I had to have the original packaging to ship it back. He wanted me to pay for the return. I said I'd go home and call Amazon because I didn't have the original shipping label. Amazon told me to put it in any box and mail it back. The next day I went back and the same Nicholas told me it was not taped up correctly on the top and wanted to charge me $1.50 for a single piece of tape. I said I came all the way across town (again) and I did not have my purse. He said "too bad, next time read the directions ". I said this is terrible customer service! He proceeded to tell me I need to pay for a piece of tape. I asked for the phone number of his corporate office so I can make a complaint. He refused to give it so I looked it up. I am waiting for John Ansloan to return my call. I don't expect much since John is Nicholas's father. Maybe that is the problem. No consequence for his behavior when Daddy owns the store. No one should be treated like this and if you're in customer service I would expect assistance when needed and a nice attitude. read more

Extremely insulting, domineering, manipulative manager. The staff is nice // but they made a mistake with me regarding my mail service :: by not clearly and proatively communicating with me. Turns out that if you tell them two weeks in advance that you won't be renewing their mail service -- that instead of appreciating my letting them know that -- they will cancel you // that day without making sure the customer UNDERSTANDS that. And i made the mistake of thinking the store would appreciate my coming in and telling them. These are the anti-customer errors the store made: (1) Leaving me a renewal notice in my box that was one sentence long on a letter sized piece of paper -- with no information in all that mostly empty page about their cancellation and renewal policies. (2) Not explaining or going over any of these policies when i walked into the store to respond to their notice. (3) Returning my mail immediately without making it abundantly clear they were going to do so. (4) Taking zero responsibility for not clearly and proactively communicating and going over these things with me when I was in the store. (5) In a very crude way dismissing the fact that i did come into the store to communicate with them in response to their notice as if that were ridiculous and stupid and useless on my part instead of appreciating that I was thoughtful and a good enough customer to do so. (6) Petty, mean-spirited, and not acting in good faith like a member of the community. (7) Acting like they can do no wrong bc hey they're UPS but the customer has to be perfect in word and deed and can't make any mistakes and has to know all policies and procedures as if they'd worked there for years. The UPS Store in Hoffmantown Center in Albuquerque has been very helpful. The employees there are very knowledgeable and have helped us send packages to our son in the Navy. We also have a PO Box with them. We moved here a few months ago and don't have a permanent address yet, so it has been great having a place that can receive packages as well as regular mail. read more

I have been at this location several times for various reasons. Customer service has been excellent. Today I went in with a Zappos return. I asked to email them the return label and to have it printed. The gentleman pointed to a sign on the wall- $5.60 to print a label!!!He explained francises can charge whatever. I went into a Santa Fe UPS store with a Zappos box two days ago and was charged 21 cents!!! This is greedy gougingI will NOT be back to this location. I strongly suggest the owner/manager think through their pricing decisions. I visited the UPS store yesterday evening around 6:15 PM , at Golfcourse and Paseo, the witch at the counter acted like I was raining on her parade. I asked if they were closing soon, and her response was I'm not counting the minutes , but we close at 6:30 . She was so dam rude, how does this company stay afloat when the representation acts like they are doing me a dam favor. This UPS store is awful! Not only are they unorganized (lost my package), but they're rude. You guys need to respect the customers that support your business - you're nothing without your customers! Long story short, my package was there and they insisted it was not. I could see the package with my name on the sticker, but the gentleman at the counter was too insistent on being right that he refused to turn around and look at the package. I had to have the issue resolved via UPS customer service on the phone, then return to the store a 2nd time where I didn't receive an apology and was treated like an inconvenience. That's unacceptable! And this is my 2nd bad experience at this location. I'll try not to use this UPS store in the future. When I've used the one at Lomas and San Mateo it's always a night and day difference - happy staff, quick assistance, and a great experience. Today 12/24/20 I stood in line about 20-25 minutes to fax a very important medical records request. The FAX sign in the window was lit, so I assumed the fax machine was working. Well, finally got into the store and was told by the woman/girl behind the counter that the fax machine was not working. My response was "Seriously" and they she said "Seriously" very sarcastically. I asked why the FAX sign was lit up in the window? She came up with some lame excuse. No I'm sorry, just pure sarcasm. I then went literally across the street to the FedEx store. Walked right in, was helped right away and they thanked me for stopping by. We both wished each other a Happy Holiday! Will never use the UPS store at this location again! I would think businesses would treat their customers right, especially during a pandemic. Honestly, after what I just experienced here, they don't deserve a single star. Their associate Vincent is horrible, rude, and completely lacking the concept of customer service. I had two packages forwarded to their store and received notification (via UPS My Choice) that the packages arrived and were signed for by Ansolan (whom I've discovered is this stores owner). When I told them I was picking up two packages the associate (Vincent) immediately said there was only one. This is proof to even looking. I explained that I had two signature notifications (one for each tracking number) and offered to show him. He rudely rejected to review my proof of signature. He then got the one package and I asked if he would look more thoroughly since I had confirmation from UPS that they received them... he refused. At this point, primarily by his poor attitude, I requested he got the person whom signed for the package on the phone so we could figure out what to do in order to figure out what happened to the package. He said I could come back tomorrow and try to 'catch him there' or I could leave, that he wasn't going to do anything to help further. Another customer who was there waiting on something else, looked over to me and commented, "they can't get anything right here". Apparently she was dealing with some sort of run around also. In conclusion, I highly recommend against utilizing this locations services. They obviously don't put their customers first. read more

I would like to thank Nick Ansloan at 8226 Menaul Blvd NE Albuquerque UPS store #0937 for the terrific assistance and fantastic packing and shipping that he did for me. I had to ship family heirlooms, photos, and mementos to various family members around the US after my Dad died in Dec 2021in Albuquerque. I live in California and was in contact with Nick several times over the year to get estimates and shipping information. I finally was able to travel to NM from California on Oct. 25th to ship everything out. Nick was just fantastic! He weighed and estimated packing and shipping everything for me (which included an antique hope chest, antique clock, and several pieces of Waterford crystal) quickly and efficiently and at a much better price than any other shipping or freight company that had given me estimates. Everything arrived to the recipients within a week and everything was in perfect condition. Nick had packaged everything so well that absolutely nothing was damaged, My sister who received the hope chest said the box was really banged up and torn but with all of the protective packaging Nick had padded it with, it was untouched. I just want to say thank you to Nick for being SO helpful and patient with my multiple calls and with the actual packing and shipping. I was so stressed about getting these fragile items to family members and Nick was so reassuring, professional, and extremely helpful that everything went smoothly and stress-free. I have an online boutique and I am at this store frequently to drop off orders and the staff is very nice and the store isn't so busy that I'm standing in line for very long. Every time I go I'm either first in line or I have to wait after one person, no big deal. read more

I have used many UPS stores in the past to ship packages for eBay buyers. This is one UPS store I will not be returning to in the future. The store is owned by a guy name John, who employs his two sons (one of which looked about 13 years of age). John and his sons need serious lessons in customer service. I shipped a package ground, and received an invalid tracking number. I returned to the store six days later to check on it. John told me that the package had already left and he wasn't sure about the invalid tracking number. He kept referring to UPS tracking system as "voodoo" which demonstrated his complete lack of knowledge with the system. Long story short, I returned on the sixth day, he offered to split the cost of upgrading the package mid-ship to three days. As soon as I got home i saw that the package had an origin scan, which meant that it had just left the store that day. It had been sitting in his store for six days after I dropped it off. On (Thursday) July 5th I went into the UPS Store #937 at 2270 Wyoming Blvd NE, ABQ, NM 87110. I had 3) bags of green chilie, 2) red chilie, 1) dz tamales, 2) 30-count corn tortillas, 2) 10-count flour tortillas. I asked if they could package and ship for me as I have heard advertised. They assured me they could. I was shipping these perishables to Sonoma, CA. I was asked if I wanted it to go ground or air. I said ground. I said ground, which I thought the gentleman to say was 2-day ground. Again all perishable items were frozen so expected they knew how to package to keep them as close to that as possible. It was never recommended that I send overnight or next day air or no other recommendations. In fact it wasn't even discussed how it would be packaged (since they advertise they ship green chilie) so I took it for granted they knew how to package. When the product arrived in Sonoma on (Tuesday) July 10th the frozen packages were blown up so guess was not packaged air-tight, only had couple freezer packs at the bottom of the product nothing in between and all products were de-thawed. Poor packaging, I paid what they told me. How was I supposed to know their packaging methods, I trusted their big name shipping knowledge. I contacted the UPS store which routed me to an 800# where I spoke to a lady who advised all stores are franchises and individually owned so she would refer the complaint to the store but that I needed to contact them directly to get this resolved. I called the store and spoke with Nick who was very defensive, talked over me and told me I got what I paid for. I then received a call back from Nick a message was left on my voice mail apologizing for his behavior and advising would like to work together to get this resolved and left a number to call him back. I called him back at which time he told me he could do a do-over but I would need to bring in 10lbs of dry ice and they could not reimburse me for something I did not pay them for so as far as the past perishable shipment they could not do anything for me. I advised Nick that I did not live in Albuquerque( I was here on vacation) I currently reside out of state so that would not work for me. He advised me he would discuss with his family and get back to me. I gave him a couple days but did not hear back from him. I called the store a couple times and is it coincidental or what (do they have caller ID?) because first couple times called direct I kept getting disconnected. Then when the call was blocked and I called right back they answered. I spoke with John advised Nick was supposed to be getting back to me regarding a complaint with a prior shipment. He assured me he would get back to me by Monday, July 29th, as he was working on a couple different complaints. Again, I did not hear back from Nick so I called the store a couple times to be disconnected then when I blocked the call it went through and John answered advised I did not hear back from Nick. He said he would call me back the next day himself. I did get a call back the next day from John who was probably worse than Nick in the way that he talked to me. He too was very defensive and talked over me and I had to request that he let me talk in order to say anything. John's resolution was to call me back and talk down to me and tell me "I made a bad decision". So there was nothing they were going to do and I was the one who chose the shipping method and they did what they were supposed to do. Never was it recommended by any UPS representative of their organization to ship overnight or by air, when it came to the shipment. Nor was it ever stated that they could not guarantee the product would still be frozen by the time it reached its destination by the method I chose. Had they made that recommendation and I went against it then that would have been and I quote "A bad decision" which I should have to pay for. This is unacceptable customer service from a professional business representing such a big entity's name. If UPS allows its franchises to treat it customers in this disrespectful demeaning manner you can count me out as a customer. read more

I had 5 items to return by mail. I sorted them so that each item was with its packing slip and mailing label that I had printed out. I had expected to need to buy mailing envelopes there, but the cashier said I could use the original envelopes and he attached the labels to each of those and taped them. He printed out 3 labels as my receipts and worked on the 4th and 5th. When I realized one of the packages would cost more to return than the original purchase price, I asked him to cancel that. He crumpled up and threw out the label I had printed out so I asked him to give it back to me. He told me the price and I asked if there was a 4th label. He then helped 3 other customers. When I addressed him, "Sir, you were in the middle of helping me" he responded, "Yes and I told you it was $$". I looked around and on the far left of the counter away from me was a card reader, so I walked to the other end of the counter and said, "That was not clear". I asked again if there was a 4th packing slip and he said he had already told me that the tracking number would be on the receipt. I told him I did not understand that and I did not work here to know the system and that communication would be helpful. He began to berate me saying, "You're nothing but a deadbeat. You are the most disorganized person I have ever seen. You come in here and nothing is labeled." I told him I thought that was his job. He called me a deadbeat a few more times and continued to tell me how disorganized I was- other customers were silently watching. It was like going to a restaurant, only to be told by the waiter that I was expected to go cook my own food. I told him he was rude and asked his name. He would not tell me. I asked if I could speak to his supervisor. He told me he owned the store. I asked his name and he asked what mine was. I told him my name and asked him his. He said "What's your name and address, oh wait I already know it". That felt very much like an implied threat to my safety considering how hostile his tone of voice and facial expressions were. The cashier was not wearing a nametag. The name of the cashier on the receipt was "John". He had told me he was the owner. I went outside to my car and called UPS who told me it was a privately owned store and gave me the phone number to the corporate office (1800 789-4623). The representative at the corporate office said that the owner was John Ansloan. I told the representative at the corporate office what had happened and that I was worried John would seek me out since he said he knew my name and address already. I felt threatened by him. They took down the information and told me that since it was a privately owned store, there was no case number or confirmation number. The representative said that she would hold off on submitting this complaint until tomorrow so that the owner would not see it before my packages were sent off. At that point, I worried that John Ansloan might sabotage the packages that I put in his care. I was told that the complaint would be documented and letters would be sent to area UPS stores with that information. I also called the police to make a statement about his threat. read more

This location offers free drop off service to patrons who have already packaged and preprinted shipping labels. However, associates do not provide considerate customer service to such patrons who are not "valuable" to them, as they receive no profit for the service. When I arrived to drop off two packages for which I already had shipping labels attached, one associate was assisting another customer and a second associate came to the desk to assist me. A third customer entered the store immediately after me carrying multiple shopping bags of items she planned to package and ship. I informed the associate who offered her help that i just needed to drop off my packages for pick up and asked if i might receive a receipt that i had dropped them off. She told me that she could not print one out for me as she needed to assist the customer who had followed me in and suggested i write down the tracking numbers myself. That customer acknoweldged she would be a while and that I was there first. I had already written down tracking numbers at home but wanted a print out proving that i had dropped them off in case there were any issues with Amazon.com. I explained this to the associate and asked if there was anything she could print for me, knowing that other locations have done so in the past and that it only takes a matter of seconds. The associate stated that she would not do so and was going to assist the third customer. When I asked for her name, she refused to give it to me. I understand that franchises make no profit when we drop off items which are already packaged and paid for and that the third customer who needed to purchase shipping materials, etc, is a much more valuable customer. I have been one of those valuable customers at this location in the past, as well. I will not be again. read more
