Just to let you know this store's policy which is typed on lament 8x10 paper all over the store "UPS drop off customers can not drop off a package, must wait in the line." I had not been in this location for a while, so I did not know they had changed their policy, I went to the front of the line and asked to drop of my package, I was not even responded to, the clerk just point at the sign on her register, then she pointed at the sign on the wall, and the other signs that were around the store...Rude... If I wanted to read, I would have brought a book. I decided to just wait in the line that was too the door, how long could it take right? I have been here twice to notarize a few documents, each time I have been there I had a different noter. There is an older woman and a younger lady. The older woman was very knowledgeable of how to notarize my statement, she was quick, and got me in and out of the store. The second time I went the younger lady helped me, she was pretty slow, and even asked me if I was supposed to sign or print my name and also where the placement was supposed to go. I am not a noter so I had no clue. You would think that a noter would remember how to notorize your statement or letter, i just thought she was unprofessional and u knowledgeable of her work. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I just received the worst customer service ever. The employees are undertrained and I definitely got an "overworked and underpaid" feeling from their attitudes. This store is okay if you just want to use the UPS/mail related services. However, the notary service is just bad. If you can go somewhere else for your notary needs, do it. The main problem is that they seem to adjust the hours when they provide this service on a whim. I was there a couple of times in the last couple of weeks: the first time I arrived at 6:10pm expecting to get notary service because the website says hours are 8:30 to 6:30pm, but was told right away that notary service ends at 6pm, so to come back. I went back a different day at around 5:20pm and while waiting in line, saw the same employee tell a different customer that notary service ends at 5:30pm! It's like they make the decision on the spot... I will definitely not be going back there for notary services. read more

I have used the services provided by this UPS store on a number of occasions and always found the staff to be very helpful, courteous and professional. Recently I mailed a box from this office to Italy. Since I was completely inexperienced in this area, I had many questions and concerns. The staff was very patient in answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns to the best of their knowledge. After much deliberation I finally decided to send the package via United States Postal Service, the cheapest available option. It arrived safely in Florence 12 days later. read more

If half of these bad stars are because of the older African American woman in here I understand. Not paying attention to the outside of the door I walked in but kept my social distancing space. She ask me to leave as there is a three people max in store. I say ok and I walk back outside. No problem. Then someone leaves and I walk in she calls me over where another customer is standing 1 foot away. I began to say I couldn't print the label before I go any further she says you need a valid credit card and tells me to go to a kiosk. I'm confused I'm swiping my discover card and nothing?! So another man walk in she says " Now I know you saw the sign?!" The man looks slightly confused. It's already three people in the store. She then says that's ok cmon. As I struggle with no help I ask ma'am when you get a chance can I have some support. Sure she says then sends a young bearded guy over. I show him my label in my phone he says oh you don't need to be here let me help you. More irritated I voice well she didn't even let me finish what I was saying before she sent me here!? The other guy she was less professional with asked for her name in which case she refused to give. And claimed it was his receipt. As he left she laughed that the log in was under the guy that was helping me. Sad service to say the least. And as we talk about the world as it is. I want to enlighten a few people colorism is a real this. It's where SOME dark skin women have personal issues with lighter complexion women. I won't say that was her probably of many issues. But what I will say is she treated people different. And as she danced and flirted in front of a very handsome man I just expect more from a company and more importantly my brothers and sisters. This franchise will charge you to even take a breath in their store. They do not represent UPS in a good light

They're expensive but if you need shipping related tasks done this place is there. If you need to use their computer to print something off your thumb drive they charge you a bit. If you want to make xerox copies they charge tax. If you want to rent a mailbox they're significantly more expensive than the equivalent local post office rates. They even charge tax if you buy postage from them. Insane! Sometimes you have to wait in line when only one or two people are staffing the place. Feels slow to get service, but sometimes it's rather quick. If you screw up while printing copies and some pages come out blank or too light, expect to pay for those pages anyway. read more

Husband and I came in for livescan service and we were assisted by Alex. He was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He was able to handle both of our livescan applications and fingerprinting while still answering the phone and acknowledging or assisting waiting customers. Ordered prints online to save me time due to me being disabled and having problems standing for Long periods of time. Well that failed. Two ladies both busy. One on a notoray the other helping a lady with really thinks papers that keeps jamming the copy machine lol. Well I needed two papers printed and one laminated.its feels that today is worse at the ups store the then usps store. I wonder if they have a copier. Now they are done they started helping every single person that came in to do a fax, help with packages, and print jobs and I counted about 7 people that got ahead of me now at least got a chair. Was told my job is in the computer but she doesn't know how to print it. Then the lady that can she's too busy helping everyone else. Well being disabled and being used to be skipped okay for ups to do. Last time I come here for my service or medical print out. I just came to get a good quality esa certificate print out and laminated. Now 10 customers has been helped ahead of me when I got here way I bean I got here at 11:20 am not its 12:23 pm and am still waiting for someone to go print it. Horrible customer service. Had an amazon return of some tires they said I needed a label for each tire even though it said qty 4. Went back home and printed labels returned to the ups store then they said i needed different tracking numbers for each tire. I received excellent service at this UPS store this morning. The lady was super helpful, she suggested me cheaper way to ship my large and fragile item, offerred me tape to pack the item. I am not a pro at shipping big items but she really did at oustanding job at guiding me while serving other customers. Take negative reviews here with grain of salt. read more

This store sucks, Often understaffed. Hell Castro Valley is the new "Retirement Village." I've never seen so much SENIOR CITIZENS around this town. With that said, business around there are run in such a fashion ( slow and grumpy) ..that they pretty much cater to the majority of people living there..which are again SENIOR CITIZENS. I'd rather go to the UPS store in Union City, where the owner Dave is in his late 40's and his staff are run by the most responsible 20 somethings that I've seen in a long time. They're top notch and they expedite your package and inform you and provide you with all the information you need to get your package sent out on time. Bottomline, communication is KEY..to running a business and those folks have it in Union city. read more

I have a huge package to return to Amazon. I've tried several time to take it to the nearest UPS Store, but each time I got there after it closed. I did some research last night and discovered that the Castro Valley store is open on Sundays. My husband is sick of this huge package sitting around the house, but he's also sick of dragging it back and forth to UPS, but I finally talked him into helping me take the package again. Imagine my surprise when we get there to discover that they are closed for Mother's Day. Mother's Day?! Really? I hope someone had a good Mother's Day, because they didn't help mine. This may or may not be a good UPS store, I don't know. If you are going to any trouble to go to this store, be sure to call first and make sure they're open. Don't rely on their web site. read more

Do not go on a Sunday if you in a hurry. They only have one staff member on Sunday and if someone needs notary services that one staff member can't help anyone else. The management at this store needs to address this as it is ridiculous to have to wait 45 minutes to get service. Either make notary services by appt only on Sunday and then staff accordingly or have a minimum of two people helping customers. read more

Took a document in to be notarized. Betty started the process and then said, "I can't notarize this because I don't know what it is." I told her to read the title of the document, which was "Notice to Cosigner" (it says this in large all caps bold at the top of the document). She said "but I don't know what the document is." I said, "it is a 'Notice to Cosigner'; it goes along with loan documents that were previously signed and notarized at the UPS store but the bank sent this form bank to have re-signed (by the co-signor rather than the debtor)." She said, "I can't notarize this document unless I have all of the loan documents." To which I said, "that's not true at all. All a notary is is a verification of the authenticity of the signature." I told her the bank had all of the other loan document and showed her the hand-written note from the bank requesting this document to be re-signed. She refused to sign the document even after I pulled up legal text showing that all the notary does is verify the authenticity of the signature. Her job is to look at the ID of the person signing, write down their name, address and document name in the log, take a thumb print and witness the signature. What a complete waste of time; if UPS can't staff with people who can notarize, they shouldn't offer the service. read more

Before you go, you need to know that the UPS stores are independant businesses, not owned by the UPS or even The UPS store (think "franchise"). Also, under UPS Store rules, UPS stores are not responsible for the performance of the contractors they provide, such as UPS. Also know that under UPS' terms and conditions, your only recourse for a claim against UPS is arbitration, through their favorite service or a local court such as small claims court. You are also prevented from making public statements about the final decision. I shipped a package recently. It was almost to its destination, when UPS reported damage. They also reported that the customer had refused delivery (he hadn't, and I have it in writing). A damage report states that the package was damaged because it didn't meet ISTA package guidelines. the ISTA is just a trade association that makes packaging recommendations. In my case, since the package was 41#, it needed to be wrapped in more than an inch of bubble wrap and placed in a box of a certain rating. You don't know this, I didn't know this, and I ship and receive lots of amps, generally with minimal damage. UPS presents no proof that the amp wouldn't have been damaged if it had been packed according to ISTA specifications, but, by their logic, since it wasn't, and it was damaged, it must have been the package, not a big drop or something. Basically, UPS holds that they are not liable for damage unless you follow the ISTA guidelines that you probably never heard of. So understand this. You put your package up on the scale, they enter your information and the package weight and dimensions, and then they offer you insurance, even if the package doesn't meet the mysterious ISTA guidelines and won't be covered. A store employee (I think she is owner, or at least a manager), told me that they don't even have the specs. After inspecting it as a damaged item, UPS shipped it back to the UPS store, in the original packaging (good enough for them, but not good enough for me?). The amp is basically a strong box made out of 3/4" lumber, and it was fine. Three of five tubes had fallen out and broken. The manufacturer of the amp ships with tubes installed, in a single-layered box with eight cardboard corners supporting the amp are reinforcing the corners. Folks who have guitar amps typically transport their amp around town in the trunk of their car with no protection, except maybe a cover. It's rare that a tube falls out, and the manufacturers are comfortable with mounting the tube sockets upside down. The tubes are hard to pull out. The amp must have been subject to high acceleration due to shock (dropped). While it was being returned, the UPS Store filed a damage claim for me. I appreciate their concern, or maybe not. I never asked them to or received a copy. I did finally receive UPS's damage report, and was told that my claim had been denied due to insufficient packaging, that UPS considered the issue closed, and that I couldn't file a second damage complaint. The the UPS store, while refusing responsibility, made a claim on my behalf without my input, it was denied, and I can't complain. I have to think that UPS likes it this way. Clearly, my customer never received the package, and I can't even get reimbursed for the shipping charges. I called the UPS Store about the situation, and I was told they'd call right back after checking with UPS. I didn't get a return call for an hour and a half, so I called back. When I came in for more information, they acted like calling in twice was rude. Also know that UPS and eBay are in cahoots. If you run an eBay ad with customer-paid shipping, eBay charges you customer much less that your cost, more like UPS's commercial rate. It can cost you much more to ship than what your customer pays when you print a lable with eBay/PayPal, paying rates that exactly match UPS's non-commercial rates. My UPS rep was told about this, and didn't care. Handicapped access is horrible. There's no ramp within hundreds of feet (and with a large package, you'll want one even if you don't consider yourself handicapped), and only a few handicapped spaces at the same distance, that are usually full. The door is heavy and heavily sprung too. And yes, at some times the store is empty, and at other times it's swamped. Might be best to avoid them when people are making doing their lunch-time errands. If you're shipping, it's best to avoid them all-together. The FedEx office on Mission north of A Street in the shopping center has longer hours, shorter lines, and FedEx is claiming that they are about 10% cheaper for ground transport. Amp shippers on eBay I've talked to pretty much universally prefer FedEx, and if you click the right things, you can ship FedEx as an eBay seller too. I ain't goin' back to Granny's farm or the UPS Store no more. read more

I am not familiar with using copiers and they are quick to help me use it and make sure I'm getting what I need. Was in here on Wednesday morning, right at 8:30 AM. I had to ship some medications to Japan. I had no idea what to do and how to do it, but the woman working there could not have been more helpful and more cooperative. She called the UPS "Answer Person" and got the facts. While she helped me, she also helped three to four other people and got all of us taken care of. She was friendly and positive. Not bad for 8:30 in the morning! Thank you!!! I didn't know what all the medication were, but I knew the one, that was most important, so we listed that and with god willing, it will get to my wife in Japan on Monday or Tuesday. read more

She boxed the item @ 6.00 dollars then decided that because of its value we should double box itthat came to 17.00 now. By the time she was done with me, my total was 48.00 dollars . Make sure your package is well taped so you don't have to use their tape. My package was a bit flimsy so I asked for a bit of extra tape just to be safe. I was told that i would be charged a minimum of $2 in the future for just one strip of tape. What a rip off read more

I called regarding notary service at noon. I explained how much of a time crunch I was under and was told after 5 would be best and that they stop doing notaries at 6, half hour before they close. I arrived at 5:40p and was told I arrived too late and they would not do it. I could have come right after I called! I was ridiculed for not knowing how long a notary took (she literally laughed at me) and was also lectured about arguing with them in front of my child when I complained they told me I could come up until half hour before they closed (instead of arguing in front of your kid...) WOW. I have never been so rudely treated. I can't imagine they are any better at customer service or honoring the information given over the phone for their other services, either. There are other notaries in the area that charge the same amount money. I am certain my money and business are best spent elsewhere. Yours probably is as well. read more

Went to UPS this week and had to send out a package. Customer service was very helpful, as I do not typically send things out, except the occasional Christmas time package. This time, it what is an item to be sold via eBay. As it turns out, we became aware that the person purchasing from us was scamming us. Customer service representative Cora was very helpful!! in fact she went beyond being helpful, even more helpful than when I called the main UPS headquarters. Cora has been extremely helpful in trying to locate our package and understanding our concerns , as well as understanding the fraud that we were victimized too.
